Vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel en goed eten in het restaurant
De bedden. We hadden een twee persoons kamer maar het twee persoonsbed is smal. Het hotel is heel gehorig.
Breakfast was excellent
The door were open due to the heat and the field had just been fertilzed and you could smell them from the hotel but assumed that it's not a regular occurrence.
The room was great and the staff very pleasant
There wasn't anything I didn't like other than having to leave so early for work.
The staff were friendly and helpful
It was cold in my room in the evening and I didn't know how to work the heater, there were no instructions.
Wouldn’t let me cancel on line then offered to let me cancel when I arrived
The location and staff were lovely
Left a day early despite already paying – unacceptable room condition and unusable shower We paid £246 for a three-night stay from Tuesday to Friday, but the experience was so disappointing that we left a day early on Thursday, despite having already paid for the final night. If we hadn't already had pre-arranged plans that obligated us to stay in the area, we wouldn't have stayed as long as we did. The general condition of the room was extremely poor. As the photographs show, there were badly damaged and deteriorating skirting boards and wall panels, peeling and chipped paint, exposed material, rough repairs, discoloured sealant and generally very tired finishes throughout. Some areas looked as though they had simply been patched over rather than properly repaired. The bathroom was particularly unpleasant. There was what appeared to be black mould across the ceiling above the shower, along with dirty/discoloured sealant and deteriorating areas around the bath, walls and flooring. These weren't tiny cosmetic imperfections that you'd have to go looking for – many of them were immediately visible. The bathroom facilities were also completely impractical. I'm 5'7" and when I stood in the bath to shower, my head was almost touching the ceiling. My partner is 6'3" and could not use the shower at all because there simply wasn't enough headroom. This was particularly unacceptable because my partner is a mechanic and was returning to the hotel dirty after work, yet he had no way of properly showering and washing himself. A usable shower is one of the most basic facilities you expect when paying for a hotel room. We weren't expecting luxury – we expected him to be able to wash. The bath wasn't a realistic alternative either. It was so small that even at 5'7" I could barely fit comfortably in it, never mind someone who is 6'3". The communal areas weren't much better.
Clean and well positioned for our journey South
Some spaces could do with some freshening up
Friendly staff, clean well appointed room and convenient location. The pub attached serves decent food at a reasonable price . Big car park but not secure.
Generally needs a coat of paint. Breakfast was £9 and to include a continental option… toast and cereal is not a continental option.
My room was spacious with a comfortable bed. The staff on reception were very polite and friendly, as were the staff in the bar area. The food served in the restaurant was good traditional pub food which was reasonably priced.
The only downside I can fault is the water in my shower was tepid, I couldn't even describe it as warm if I'm honest.
The bedding seemed clean.
Stood around waiting 20 minutes to get a key as nobody on reception and nobody answered the bell. The toilet didn’t flush properly. The tv remote didn’t work. The carpet hadn’t been hoovered.
Shower....... took an age for water to come out of it and when it did come out it was cold. warm at best after leaving it for a few mins. Thought it might be a 1 off but same again next day. only stopped 2 nights so just got on with it.
Easy to get to.Bed was comfy.
Cleanliness of bar.Tables sticky and carpet dirty.
Staff, rooms and food. Good connection point
Really nothing bad to say
Great location
Motorway works. No staff on reception
Friendly staff and great hotel
Food on site was very good and a great stay
Nice little hotel for an overnight stay, good prices, clean, staff pleasant and the food was excellent and good value for money.
Little bit worn around the edges but great for the money.
Quality
Nothing
Close vicinity to what we needed friendly and helpful staff
Nothing
The price was good and meal prices were good. It was in a great area to get back onto the A1 when travelling.
The staff needed more guidance, standing around most of the time when plates and empty drinks left on tables. Breakfast was aweful, waited a while for staff to appear and cooked breakfast very greasy. Staff still walking past dirty plates and cups on tables. The hotel was a bit tired but clean, needs a bit of a makeover and staff training.
Friendly staff. Good food. Comfortable bed
Water could be hotter
Fabulous staff, warm and welcoming.
Room was quite small.
Good location and very friendly staff
The bed was just 2 singles pushed into one and was hard as a brick. If you’re over 6ft your head touches the roof in the shower. The room was not clean at all. The heating wasn’t only coming off the wall it also didn’t work.
Staff great. Food good.
Bathroom getting a bit dated, shower needed updating looked dirty although it was cleaned. black round bottom.
Location to A1. Friendly staff.
Perhaps due some tlc to some of the decor.
Comfy beds and staff were very good. Food was also really good.
Decor was slightly dated but this is nit-picking.
Had to wait in reception approx. 15mins before I could find the member of staff who could book me into my room. The phone number to call at the desk was not a recognised number.
Food and drink great,
My partner said that a running fan had kept her awake most of the night, only two sachets of coffee for the night and morning was a bit of an oversight on thier part ,but I know we could have asked for more,
Staff friendly and helpful
Lack of staff for Saturday breakfast .
Location fine breakfast good quality especially gluten free.
Did not have any gluten free beer yet it was advertised in the bar would have been the icing on the cake.
The staff are all so helpful and friendly. Rooms are clean. Good food choices and prices.
The staff were exceptional... warmly greeted by Molly and she was incredibly helpful throughout. Also breakfast staff were super friendly including a lady called Karen. Breakfast was included and well cooked. The room was pretty small but fine for 2 nights. The lady cleaning the rooms made sure we had plenty of tea!
The room / bed were both quite small
Rooms are dated, place could do with revamp Carpets worn ,shower cubicle had mould and structure supporting had rotted away . Dinner had to be sent back as not even able to cut through chicken.did get refund . Garden furniture falling to pieces Will say breakfast was lovely
Cook food better at evening meals
Location
Bathroom a bit small
Lovely receptionist at the front desk with a welcoming smile.
Would be grand if the breakfast portion were a bit larger.
Very welcoming staff, good value for money large clean comfortable rooms, very nice breakfast and very reasonable food and drink.
Not a dislike but the place could do with a revamp as its quite tired. This did not cause us a problem and was more than compensated by the very nice and welcoming staff.
Spacious room, comfortable beds, good location
Location was good.
The hotel overall, very very tired, paintwork looked like it was done by children, and the carpets throughout heavily soiled. No pillow protectors and one was heavily stained not nice, and mold in shower tray and around bedroom window, once again paintwork looked horrible. It put me off wanting to sleep their but I had no choice as it was too late to get anywhere else. Other guests we're smoking weed inside the building and it was very potent, imagine if there was any families staying. The reception area is very grotty, stains on reception worktop, carpets filthy and it stunk of dirty soiled carpets, overall very very poor, in dire need of a revamp, it's needed it for a while by the looks of it, very dirty throughout.
Tired rooms, shame. Thee bed and pillow were ok and best bit of room.
Very tired, carpets looked dirty and just didnt feel up to standard.
The location for stop over
The friendly and helpful attitude of the staff was second to none. It was very convenient fir travel and easy to check in and out. Also have the Green King pub attached meant we could have so.e reasonably priced food. The included breakfast was lovely and agin the staff were helpful, accommodating and friendly. Overall a positive experience.
For me personally, the bed was a little too hard. Some people may prefer this but not me. The sealant in the bathroom needs replacing, It was black at the edges and this isn't a cleanliness thing as it was clean. It is just time for new.
The location is perfect, straight off the A1. Rooms are comfortable and adequate.
We were kept awake by slamming doors.
Not luxury, but very comfortable and good value for money. Convenient location for me. Staff all helpful and pleasant.
bathroom could do with a refresh, but clean and functional.
Basic stay with comfort.
Toilet did not flush well. Bathroom floor bit uneven. Smelt along the corridor.
Good location, very near A1. Good large car park. Friendly welcome. Modern room, most things worked, fair sized. Good breakfast.
TV reception very poor, couldn't pick up BBC. Wifi poor, kept dropping out. Evening meal typical pub grub, but the Yorkshire pudding that came with my bangers and mash was rubbery and chewy - inedible, really. But yet they did a good breakfast in the morning. Beer on tap was mostly lager, or John Smiths which doesn't have much flavour, so I had Guinness. .
The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The staff were all friendly.
We waited at reception for a long time and in the end we had to go into the bar to find a member of staff to check us in, we had rung the bell a few times. We requested a twin room but were put in a double so had to ask for the beds to be changed and then remade. There was no cold water in our bathroom, the staff didn’t seem surprised when we questioned this and offered us another room to use the shower for our 3 night stay. I think this place should be advertised as a motel, definitely not at the standard of a hotel. Unfortunately, the staff are left in an uncomfortable position doing their best to manage guests expectations.
Great location, arrived too late for food. Comfy bed
Friendly staff, lovely food, very clean
Lumpy pillow , very dusty fan
Excellent hotel for our sightseeing purposes. We liked position close to A1. Staff so friendly &. helpful.
Nothing.
staff were all great, very accommodating, bed was comfy and food was decent and good value. Rooms were clean and cleaners done a great job
WIFI did not work and no phone signal in the room. Shower was small and very weak water pressure. Walls and doors were peeling
Location/price
Bathroom roof was really low. Skirting board to bath was extremely damaged. Heater in bedroom was hanging off the wall. Booked a stay with my family (son under 1yr) yet the fold out sofa bed (double) was made up? What infant is going to sleep on a sofa bed? Temperature that weekend was extremely hot and there was no air-conditioning or fan provided. Had to strip the duvet down to the sheet and sleep just under that.
Location
bathroom facility
Location clean rom and comfortable nice breakfast
Carpets not very clean didn’t looked vacuumed very dated
Price
Pub
Tues Eve, meal with friend, in garden, enjoyed, all good, looked after by Caroline & Tom. Young waitress didn’t seem sure of her role re what she could/couldn’t do? eg: she didn’t know if she was allowed to take a drinks order & bring them to us??!!
TV/Wifi in room, a nightmare, signal kept dropping out, no TV channels, (missed the Footie) Later, TV ok one minute, off the next. Came back on, then NO SOUND in BBC1 (Room 3) Breakfast, not very well organised. Unsure what was included in pre-paid B&B price. Classic breakfast looked very nice, good quality bacon but everything tasted VERY SALTY?? Also, main ‘niggle’, dining tables VERY STICKY, need a proper ‘deep clean’
Great location, spacious room and bed was comfortable
The shower was appalling, tv kept losing signal which made it difficult to watch. Was given a fan to use but very poor. Didn't get to eat in pub as kitchen was closed early on the Sunday
The staff were warm and welcoming. We appreciated the spacious room which was clean and comfortable. The hotel was conveniently close to the A1.
There was a limited choice for the evening meal: both the chicken fajitas and lamb kofta were not available . Also, the hotel did not stock Fevertree tonic despite it being on the drinks menu.
Spacious room
In need of TLC
Reasonable pub food at good prices. Helpful staff.
Bedroom decor a bit tired. At breakfast certain menu items were not available
We stayed at Darrington on Friday as we were attending a wedding that day, and I can't thank Jackie enough for turning what started as a very stressful morning into a positive experience. On Friday morning, our entire area had a water outage. Just as I was about to shower and wash off my fake tan, there wasn't even a dribble of water. Panic set in! At 9:00 am, I called the hotel and spoke to Jackie. She was absolutely amazing from the moment she answered. She took charge of the situation, reassured me she would see what she could do, and promised to call me back. True to her word, within 10 minutes my phone rang. Jackie had managed to arrange for us to access a room early, which was an absolute lifesaver. We quickly packed up and headed to the hotel, feeling much less stressed thanks to her. Check-in was smooth, and we made sure to thank Jackie in person. She really went above and beyond to help us, and her kindness and efficiency made all the difference. The hotel room itself was lovely—clean, comfortable, and, best of all, it had a shower with running water, which felt like a luxury after the morning we'd had! We had a great stay, and it's all thanks to Jackie's exceptional customer service. Thank you again, Jackie. You truly saved the day!
Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean, modern and comfortable. Also the hotel was very close to the A1 and well priced.
The toilet had a weak flush; the handle needed to be pumped several times for the flush to work properly.
Convenient location for us Staff were friendly
The bathroom was shocking, grout was filthy with dirt and mold, either use bleach or replace Dirt around taps hair stuck back of the door Shower curtain was very dirty at the bottom and creased. Floor was coming away from the wall. The bedroom was clean but needs a good tidy wallpaper coming away just needs a good overhaul No WiFi or 5g or 4g, I needed to do work last night as I am self employed and haven't been able to There was no signal on a few channels Room was small and hot We stopped to break a long journey up and do not feel rested.
Central to our visit
It was simple, clean room, we came up north for the wedding so this location was perfect for the wedding venue
Room was clean, bed comfortable, had a fan which was a welcome addition as was the warm weather. Staff were great and helpful. Great value for the price
Nothing
Tables were sticky
Not clean
Staff were great, excellent location for us
Rooms are a little tired
Location was expected, staff were friendly. Room was quiet 👍
We booked a king but got a twin, room 11, so we moved beds together. Bathroom room very very small and needs some mr muscle mould remover in shower! Food wasnt over warm either supper or breakfast.
Having stayed there quite a few times & was very handy
Very poor Wi-Fi hit & miss at Better Wi-Fi would benefit the the property very much
The location was amazing
The rooms had mould in and smelt awful. The food was awful
The staff are what redeem this place. The food is basic but good and having an evening meal is not expensive. The choice is good but it's just standard Hungry Horse pub grub. All staff were friendly and very helpful and are clearly the best feature of this very tired looking hotel
We had 2 rooms booked but had to share one bathroom the other wad virtually unusable as the woodwork was literally hanging off the bottom of the shower. The other was not as bad but the bathroom door was only held on with one hinge. Toilet seat was hanging off and it was so close to the wall you have to sit sideways! Neither shower had good water pressure or a decent shower head so washing shampoo out of your hair is not easy. One room was boiling hot but a fan was provided. The other room was cooler which was a good thing as the fan provided didn't work. All in all this is a very tired looking hotel and needs a complete refit! Definitely stayed in better places for less
It was well placed for my journey up north of the UK, and even though I arrived late in the morning due to road works, there was someone on duty to help me get sorted.
The staff were very friendly and helpful nothing too much trouble. Bed comfortable room was clean, hotel is dated but everything works. Food was nice we had dinner left early so didn't have breakfast. Great value for price
Nothing
Brilliant location and easy to find. Plenty of parking. Clean and very friendly
Lovely place to stay, the staff were fabulous, from reception to staff in the bar, always smiling. Very good value for money, would definitely recommend.
Nothing, everything was perfect
Great breakfast, comfy room and good value for money.
Convenient for all my needs and requirements.
Nothing.

Custom service
The room was clean, well-maintained, and welcoming. The breakfast was excellent and met my expectations perfectly. The bed was also very clean, comfortable, and provided a good night's sleep. Also the location of this place is perfect as it is 30 seconds from the highway.
When I asked a staff member for recommendations on nearby supermarkets, I was simply directed to check Google Maps. I was hoping for some local insight or personal recommendations instead. Also, I was expecting complimentary toothpaste and a toothbrush in the bathroom, but these were not provided during my stay.
Location good off the A1.
Room was unclean. Dirty carpet and mouldy bathroom. No air con. Entrance to reception was not clear and difficult to find in the dark.
Location, staff, food and drink.
Nothing really.
Staff team were lovely
Very dated and needs a serious refurb
Large room, friendly staff, included breakfast
Ran out of breakfast items several mornings
Comfortable large room Large bed
Shower too low for me no room to adjust due to low ceiling
All was excellent as usual.
No negatives.
All the staff are really friendly and helpful and work hard and a credit to the company. Big free car park and the location is under 1 minute from the motorway. Bed comfortable and we would definitely stay again. Great price too.
Unfortunately, the breakfast was not good. English breakfast with no bacon and no mushrooms, coffee luke warm, but the lovely lady was on her own, so not her fault. This is our second visit in 2 years and both times we had an issue with food. Hopefully this was just a one off and they can take constructive criticism as being helpful. Overall great value and a great pub.
Really friendly staff
Not enough pillows in the room . WiFi and phone signal was really bad
Good location and friendly staff
Bed was very stiff, so didn’t sleep well. Bathroom needed some tlc as the paint was peeling and the fan was covered in dust. Breakfast took a long time to arrive but one lady was working in fairness.
We loved it clean and everything you need helpful and friendly staff
The smell in morning outside wow horrible
Extremely convenient for my work and travel. Very clean and exactly what I need.
Nothing negative for me.
The staff were friendly & helpful, the room basic but clean , the food reasonably priced & ok
The whole place was pretty shabby and it badly needs updating
Staff very good and helpful. Room clean and comfortable.
Bedroom clean and comfortable but where the bed was positioned just a little tight to move around
A great stay here. The room was comfortable and the ensuite bathroom was fitted out well with a shower that worked. The staff were friendly and welcoming and for the price, my stay was good value. The food was OK but TBH, you are not paying top dollar for it. The breakfast egg and sausage were very good but the bacon, brownies and mushroom was overcooked. Still, for less than a tenner, it filled a hole. I would stay here again.
Nothing. For the money, this was a great place to stay.
Lovely welcome, easy check in. Our evening meal was good Breakfast was good.
Staff was kind and helpful, location was convenient for us, close by car to tourist attractions we were visiting.
Food not good for us - either typically fatty English breakfast or sweets. No healthy options. Rooms were quite clean but common areas, especially the dining ones were super dirty.
Decent bar and restaurant, ample parking.
Basic things in room missing, towels, pillows and bedside table. Breakfast hours very restricted.
The size of room and price
Tv didn't work
Clean and tidy room with comfortable bed and all facilities we needed. Well located for our needs. Good base for exploring local towns and villages. Very nice breakfast with plenty of choice. Decent food in attached pub.
Room has a slight musty smell when entering. Opened windows to let in air. View from window poor. Overlooked bin storage area.
