the location is great for nearby beaches, Padstow, Newquay - local buses in both directions right outside, the nearby bakery, convenience store & cafe/restaurants - good outside area, large car park, friendly staff
room furnishings poor, noise from adjoining rooms - doors slamming; bar area a bit uncomfortable, menu not offering much choice at all for vegetarians
We liked the location, near to some lovely beaches and towns, very quaint pub with delicious food
The lady who served breakfast was very friendly and welcoming. She would make you come back over and over. The location is just perfect and close to all I needed. Most of the staff were warm and friendly. The breakfast was superb.
I got ignored by a man serving at the bar. I was waiting right in front of him and he went on to serve 3 others who had arrived after me. I didn't feel welcome.
Location was excellent, plenty of good local shops and petrol station. Harlyn beach only about a mile away. I have stayed in St.Merryn before so I knew what to expect
for me my room was good, bed a bit too soft for me but the view out of my small sash window was disappointing, all I could see was the roofs of the Farmers Arms.. nothing else... small price to pay for a great location. The toilet seat was secured out of position, it was well out of line of the toilet....
What a lovely traditional inn, was exactly the kind of place I love staying in. The staff were all excellent, really friendly, attentive and ready to help in any way they could. The room was quaint, had character and was very comfortable. All the food was very nice, generous portion sizes and fresh. The ales were cracking, someone clearly understands how to tend and serve them, even the wine was a reasonable price. Loved our break and would certainly consider returning.
Unfortunately the Farmer's Arms is on the road and our front facing room only had single glazing, got some road noise at night, but not enough to spoil our stay. It was unfortunate that there were piles of poo, presumably from the pub dog, on the approach from the car park, not very attractive.
It was a lovely Cornish inn with live music and plenty of visitors . Close to Harlyn Bay and reasonably priced a Large car park and very helpful staff.
Vibrant and lively pub, room was spacious, clean and comfortable
Good atmosphere
Gorgeous building, super helpful staff but room street view was noisy and too hot to close windows. Apart from the noise 10pm-midnight was lovely and would still recommend as long as you not early sleepers. Amazing breakfast ! Yum
Fantastic rooms and service with fantastic hospitality
Nothing
Great location for our trip. Room was clean and had all amenities that we needed. Breakfast was excellent - hot and cold options readily available, served in a timely manner. Hosts were very friendly and attentive.
Plenty of free parking in the hotel car park. Room size was small, bathroom size above average. Good hot water, particularly in shower/bath. Bus stop directly outside the hotel, adjacent to car park. Easy to use.
Almost everything:- Dirty carpet and dark room, Wi-Fi only worked the first day, The sewage backed up whereby discoloured water and a smell came bubbling up out of the drain on the last afternoon we were there. Notified the owner (wife) and followed up twice. She promised that when here husband got home she would send him to the room to investigate - we never saw him and no follow up from the wife. We left the next morning choosing not to take a shower.
Friendly staff and good breakfast
Noise from bar but understandable staying in a public house
A lovely old inn, which is what we wanted. A very welcoming atmosphere, Jackie is a great host. Food was so good. The tomato soup was definitely the best I've ever had. Met some very friendly locals, which is always a bonus. I highly recommend. The area is lovely, and as we stayed 4 nights, we were able to see quite a lot from the Farmers Arms base.
Everything very good
Very welcoming, excellent room, very clean and great facilities
Nothing
Amazing proper home made chips. So many places say this on menu and serve frozen chips .These are proper hand cut amazing chips perfectly cooked .lovely staff .Thank you
The pub is run by a lovely family, don’t think I’ve ever felt so welcomed. Room was clean and comfortable with every thing we needed, plenty of towels, great over bath shower, tea and coffee etc. We had a great meal standout dish was home made cow &ale pie and the wonderful home made proper puddings. Good choice at breakfast of cooked to order dishes. Great place to stay and we will stay again if we revisit area.
Traditional values
Nothing to criticise
Location and ambience were great. Room was a good size. Breakfast was good and cooked on request. Staff very welcoming and helpful.
The noise coming through the vent in our room, from the downstairs TV, bar and patrons, kept us awake until after 10ish.
Friendly staff
Common areas v smelly Walls v thin so could hear everything from room next door Did not reply to query email
Staff, room comfort and facilities
Gary and Jacqui - the Landlord and Landlady made us feel genuinely welcome as did their Staff. The Restaurant Menu provided a good choice and is reasonably priced. The Room we stayed in was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. We will be returning as Guest again but we felt we left as Friends. We both recommend The Farmers Arms in St Merryn as an ideal base for a Weekend or longer in a proper Village Pub. You will need to book in advance for Food and Accommodation as it is a very popular Pub.
Great and comfortable accommodation, lovely food, good location excellent local bus service which stops at this pub - will definitely stay again
Super friendly staff. Comfortable room. Excellent food. Family run pub that is busy and successful. Part if the town community. Not too far from the SWCP. Cheaper than accommodation in Padstow. Was able to take my dog and made to feel welcome.
Nothing of any significance. Some customers who had a room at the front complained of very occasional noise from the street, but fortunately I had a room at the rear.
Excellent friendly staff, good food and comfortable room. Would definitely stay again
No negatives at all
Ruhiges Zimmer oberhalb des Pub, sehr freundliche Mitarbeitende, Möglichkeit direkt dort zu Abendessen und es hatte auch Live-Musik
Classic English pub vibes with very comfortable bed.
Lovely traditional pub with comfy, cozy rooms, plus extremely doggie friendly 🐾🐾
Absolutely nothing we didn’t like
It was nice clean and inviting, The staff were friendly and the breakfast was awesome, such a quaint lovely pub with good meals.
Fantastic staff were helpful and friendly. Bar full of locals, and restaurant very busy with food was a good sign, and we found out why. Great selection of drinks, and the food was perfect. We’ve had steaks in other places that didn’t have as much meat as the cow pie has in it! Absolutely top meal. Homemade desserts and cakes are definitely worth leaving room for too. The room was large enough for a comfortable longer stay, although we were only booked one night. We had a great sleep in the comfy bed. Location right at the centre of the village with shop , garage and chip shop metres away. Huge car park at the rear of the building and a smaller one facing. Absolutely recommend and would stay again. No negatives at all.
Friendly and convenient. Nicely appointed room. Fresh and comfortable.
You could hear people in the bar below my room. But it didn't disturb me.
Very friendly team. Ideal location for one night before flight from Newquay airport
Location, value for money.
A warm welcome, a very comfy room and a fabulous breakfast.
Great location busy pub with good food
Has lots of character
Location to south west coast path, very friendly pub, great atmosphere, lovely food, and the room was clean and the beds were so comfy.
The staff were brilliant. Most welcoming and friendly! Great with our dog as well
Nothing - all excellent
Great breakfast. Friendly staff
The hotel had some good points, but the room wasn’t very comfortable because of the smell. The bathroom in particular had a strong odor that stayed all day, which made it hard to relax.
Good place to stay and explore this part of Cornwall from.
Always excellent
Nice rooms, good facilities and a very nice breakfast.
Just a little tired but overall very nice.
Lovely traditional pub in a great location.
Nothing

Great family run pub, the staff were very friendly and welcoming
Very friendly people and a lovely room. We really enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was also very good and free parking behind the pub.
Wonderful rooms in a proper Cornish pub with a great breakfast and friendly staff.

The staff are absolutely delightful, providing service that truly stands out. The landlady is exceptional, embodying everything great about her profession and making everyone feel right at home.
Hmm can't actually think of anything.
Very friendly staff and great food
What we imagined a country pub would be. Very quaint , tiny but comfortable, fantastic mine host and staff, great at atmosphere and excellent food.
Stairs … can’t get away from them! No a/c which is also not a UK thing.
Clean room above a local pub/restaurant.
The publican Jacqui was amazing, very friendly and helpful.. arranged for a fan in our room Good breakfast and great food for dinner Beer garden was spacious and relaxing Lots of parking available which was great as we had a hire car
Our room was tiny and extremely hot we couldn’t leave the window open as it opened into the fire exit
Alles bestens.
Check in war nicht 14 Uhr möglich wie angegeben.
Great location easy drive to Padstow Harbour.
Lovely old pub with traditional pub grub, homemade puddings and a good selection of ales. Delicious breakfast, friendly staff. Quiet bedrooms. Dog friendly
Nothing
Staff were really lovely and the food was good..it was a great location .Great car parking at the pub. The breakfast and the service were excellent...all the food was really good quality and good portions.Service was very good even when they were busy .We would definitely go again .Great value for money .
Room was small.Next to emergency exit/out of hours entrance and very near temporary freezer trailer. The window blinds in bathroom was in need of repair, and a small bedside table was broken .
Everything was perfect as always and the landlady was so friendly and welcoming we enjoyed every minute of it
Having to come home!!
Jackie and Gary were the perfect hosts, and Sam ( the Labrador) all staff were friendly and helpful
Nothing
The staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough for you. The food was good and the place had a good atmosphere.
The only issue was the fitted sheet on the bed. It was very worn and thin. The duvet and cover were lovely.
Lovely staff, they must see hundreds of visitors every year but still made me feel special.
Couldn’t get Coffee at the bar during the afternoon.
Proper pub with loads of history. Great hearty food and welcoming staff.
Harder than expected to get there from the coastpath. Bus didn’t turn up at Harlyn, and walking on the road was a bit dangerous.
Good choice for breakfast
Nothing
A very comfortable room. The location suited us fine. Good parking, good bed, good breakfast.
Rear entrance could do with a tidy up.
Nice stay in old style English pub the staff were very friendly and it was really dog friendly as well which was great
Very clean and staff very welcoming
Nothing
The location was excellent. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. Helpful, friendly staff and parking for my car. We enjoyed a meal there which was delicious and served quite quickly.
Our room was just above the pub outside area so it was a bit noisy. But it finished about 11pm but it was a week day.
Plenty of options for breakfast and the staff were really friendly and helpful.
The staff were very welcoming & owners friendly. They couldn’t do enough to make our overnight stay more enjoyable
In a beautiful location
Very comfortable, delightful staff, especially the landlady, excellent breakfast.
A bit noisy until the pub closed
Wir waren sehr zufrieden
