Emily Moon River Lodge

Dear Emily, What a truly magical two nights we had at Emily Moon! It is honestly one of the most amazing accommodations we have ever experienced. From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcomed and completely at home. The location is absolutely stunning, the food was amazing, and the service was exceptional. Every member of the staff was so friendly, warm, and attentive, which made our stay even more special. There is something truly magical about Emily Moon—the beautiful surroundings, the atmosphere, the attention to detail, and the wonderful people all come together to create an unforgettable experience. We were genuinely so sad to leave and would have happily stayed much longer. Thank you for making our two nights so special. We will leave with wonderful memories and hope to return one day.

Beautiful view and great restaurant

The second room of the family unit is not really that nice for an adult to stay in with regards to privacy and comfort. More for a parents with kids.

Exceptional stay - comfortable bed, well stocked bar, amazing staff and beautifully decorated bedroom in all my favorite Amatuli items. Out of the hustle & bustle is exactly what we needed. Simon's on Friday evening was casual & fun. Emily's on Saturday evening was just perfect. We will be back.

The most wonderful place to stay - rooms are stunning , the food is exceptional and just such a beautiful setting

Hoe begin ik met deze beoordeling.... Fantastisch.... ook in uitzonderlijke omstandigheden! We werden er getroffen door noodweer en werden geheel uitzonderlijk afgesloten van de bewoonde wereld! Hierdoor verbleven we een nacht langer dan voorzien. Het mag gezegd.... er werd voor ons gezorgd... de inspanningen die geleverd werden overstijgen!!!! Naast de fantastische locatie... het bijzonder mooie interieur... lekkere eten.... werd er gezorgd voor ons en andere gasten om op een veilige manier de locatie te verlaten! Dit team verdient meer dan een 10/10! We hopen er ooit te kunnen terugkeren in betere omstandigheden...

I know they were closing for winter break the day we departed, but although breakfast only finishes at 10am, they started hurrying us along before 09h30. It is most unpleasant for the staff to begin moving the furniture out of the dining area before the guests have finished eating (09h40)

Location und Umgebung, landschaftlich wunderschön. Die Anlage ist sehr liebevoll und individuell eingerichtet. Eigentümer haben sich Zeit genommen und uns gute Tipps gegeben.

Preis/Leistungsverhältnis stimmte unserer Ansicht nach nicht. Das Servicepersonal war teilweise nicht besonders freundlich. Es gab keine Klimaanlage im Zimmer. An sich hinsichtlich Temperatur kein Problem für uns, allerdings war es aufgrund des Wetters häufig extrem feucht im Zimmer. Hier waere eine Klimaanlage hilfreich gewesen.

Sensationell!!! Hier stimmt einfach alles. Die Atmosphäre, die Aussichten, der Service… ein ganz besonders schönes Erlebnis. Habe gefühlt 100 Videos nur vom Hotel gemacht, weil es so schön war!! Danke!!

Attention to detail in the room, the comfort, the service - all on point. Chilling on the deck with the river view was amazing.

Not a dislike as such, but I definitely would level up next time by reserving a room with a fireplace. One minor point, though, not related to the accommodation itself but rather to the onsite restaurant: The gents' & ladies' toilets could do with some sprucing up, as they're not on the same level of "quality & attention to detail" as the rest of the property.

Unbelievable views and so calming. Fun interiors and rustic feel to the place. Every member of staff was so kind, smiley and helpful.

We enjoyed staying at Emily Moon. The place is very special, the rooms are cozy and beautiful, the food is delicious, the service and the attention for the guests is amazing. We definitely would like to come back for another longer stay.

Libby & I have always visited the property but this time it was special as we stayed in a beautiful room overlooking the stunning view. Had a delicious dinner and overall great stay.

I loved almost everything about this truly magical location. It's so pretty and all of the staff are friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and it was great to meet the owner and hear about its history. There is also a really wonderful shop with all sorts of lovely things to buy

Check in staff were not very helpful and there was no-one to take the luggage to the rooms. Said 'porter' turned up about half an hour later to see if we needed help.

Food was incredible and turndown service was such a lovely touch!

Hair dryers a bit old fashioned and under powered unless you have short fine hair. Only a small amount of water available in the rooms overnight.

Magical ambience with every comfort and luxury thought of . Very welcoming, friendly staff and delicious food. It was my first time, for many years,staying away for a break on my own . I was made to feel totally comfortable and looked after. I can highly recommend Emily Moon and will definitely return for another stay.

Eine wunderschöne Unterkunft in der Nähe von Plett. Unser Zimmer und die Aussicht waren traumhaft. Das ganze Hotel ist einfach sehr individuell und sehr schön!

Alle Mitarbeiter waren sehr, sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Wir hätten uns gefreut, wenn die Dame an der Rezeption auch freundlich gewesen wäre!

The location of this hotel is exceptional. We had a room (more a villa) that overlooked the Bitou River below with its slow meander in the beautiful valley. From the moment we arrived, we knew this place was wonderfully different and special. The check-in process was smooth. Our room was large, well equipped and fabulously decorated. It was a stunning romantic get-away. The view from the large balcony is over the river and valley and it is second to none. We had dinner in Emily's, and it was yummy. Breakfast was also super with lots of choice and cooked to order! Plett itself is a 5 minute drive away.

Gorgeous river suite, view and pool area! We kayaked down the Bitou river and feasted at the restaurant for breakfast, dinner and even pizza night.

This property was very different. It was very eclectic in decor. The families collection of items all over the world was spectacular. The staff were well trained and catered for your every need The high standards of food have made us very critical at our next stop on the tour 😀

Beautiful, interesting decor with beautiful views!! Amazing food at the restaurant

Real beautiful and thoughtfully decorated and laid out. A tranquil stay which feels like a real escape even for locals. Walking straight into drinks and dinner for perfect sundowners and delicious breakfast was a treat.

The rooms and entire lodge were so tastefully decorated and relaxing. The location was superb, safe, and was a short drive from downtown Plett Bay. Recommend staying for at least 2 nights.

There was no bar service around the pool area. The waiters were a little erratic when it comes to service. But generally good.

Die Unterkunft ist sehr schön und mit viel Liebe zum Detail gestaltet. Die Unterkünfte sind alles in einzelnen Hütten, was sehr charmant ist. Ebenso sind diese ausreichend gross und verfügen über einen grossen Balkon. Das Restaurant ist sehr schön und lädt abends zum verweilen ein.

Die Unterkunft ist ein bisschen in die Jahre gekommen. In den Hütten riecht es sehr nach alten Teppich. Ebenso die Fenster könnten erneuert werden und ggf. eine Klimaanlage nachgerüstet werden, da es nur einen Ventilator gibt. Auf vielen Handtüchern - sowohl Badehandtücher als auch den Poolhandtüchern- sind Flecken? Dann sollte man die Handtücher eher austauschen, sofern u Flecken nicht mehr raus gehen. Vermutlich gehört dieses alles zum charm, aber Komfort sollte auch vorhanden sein. Frühstück nur von 08.00-10.00 Uhr.

Amazing

Emily Moon River Lodge is a beautiful and stylish property with stunning views over the river and surrounding nature. The rooms are modern, well-designed, and tastefully furnished. The scenery creates a strong impression of seclusion and tranquility at first glance, which is very appealing. The complimentary canoe rental is a lovely extra, and the food quality was good.

However, the lodge did not fully meet our expectations in terms of overall value, given its premium positioning. We had expected a small, intimate, and quiet retreat, but in reality, two public restaurants are directly connected to the property, bringing in many outside visitors. On Friday evening it was extremely busy, and we were only able to get a table in one of the restaurants. Additionally, there appeared to be an on-site event or party that night, with very loud music and a lively, young local crowd. Relaxing by the pool was difficult, as many restaurant guests were spending time and drinking directly around the pool area. While the views suggest privacy and isolation, this does not fully reflect the actual experience. The service throughout our stay was polite but rather average and did not feel particularly attentive or refined, which was disappointing given the lodge’s price positioning. The food portions were also somewhat small.

Great location

Lovely setting, filled with lots of character. Grant (owner?) was very friendly and helpful. Stunning views from bedroom and also a good firm mattress! Location is close enough to Plettenberg Bay if you have a car and nice to be slightly further out for some quiet!

Staff at reception for check out were not as friendly as we had found in the restaurant but still an efficient process.

The eclectic decor and location, absolutely magnet the personal touches, the unique concept

Die Zimmer sind großzügig und die Anlage ist mit vielen Pflanzen schön angelegt.

Es gibt nur 8 Liegen am Pool, weswegen 6 Hotelgäste auf dem Boden sitzen mussten und zwei ältere Gäste auf halbe Weg zum Pool wegen Überfüllung umgekehrt sin. Eine Lösung mit dem Personal zu finden gestaltet sich als sehr schwierig. Es wird einem die Begründung mitgeteilt, dass die Gäste sonst immer an den Strand fahren würden und man daher nicht mehr hätte. Das Abendessen war für südafrikanische Verhältnisse nicht gut.
