Canalta Hotel Selkirk

Very clean, spacious very comfortable king bed. Room was spacious, with mini fridge,hair dryer, 6 pillows of varous puff to choose from. Lage absorbent towels; desk and chair, sofa chair (I didn't have to sit on the bed!), glass glasses and mugs (yeh!!); nice view, friendly and courteous staff; good comp breakfast - scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausages, hot akes, 4 choices of juice, yoghurt, fresh fruit, cereal, lots of parking. Quiet. We have stayed before, and would stay again

The location was good since we had a wedding in the area. It was very quiet. Shopping nearby if needed.

The free breakfast wasn't as tasty as others I've had.

To start they checked me into an occupied room so I walked in on some on expected guests so I got an oh sorry then I got down graded from my booked king room to a queen room and to my surprise they didn’t even charge me an extra for that down grade it was the same price

Would have liked to be able to open the window to get some fresh air but the window wouldn’t unlock. There was a large hole in the screen. But this was the only flaw I saw in the property.

The fact that it stank like weed soon as you got on the elevator , upon arriving to our floor the hallway was smoky and the weed smell strong as ever. Despite numerous complaints to the front desk nothing was done. I paid for a smoke free stay not a drug stenched stay. No manager available at the time. Unacceptable for a hotel that supposedly has a no smoking policy. Even with wet towels at the door the smell was strong in our rooms. Nothing but excuses at checkout. Was told the guest checked out the day before but yet the smell became stronger and apparent every hour so somebody was lying. Emailed customer support 3x as well, no one has replied. Extremely disappointed in this place, I paid for 3 rooms. IMHO they should have kicked that guest out. Is there no security there to take care of things like this? I doubt we'll stay here again.

The carpet on the main floor, (barrier free room 104 ) was very smelly. I wish hotels did not have carpeting.

The location was ideal, close enough to be a short drive into Winnipeg and close enough to make a trip to the lakes a short drive. Having the grill outside was amazing!!! A nice touch. Personal doors and ramped sidewalk to the room from the exterior of the building was good (ground floor rooms only)

Towels were thread bear, the accessible roll in shower had a large lip that traps wheelchair users in the tub. The carpets are super thick in the room, awesome if you are walking on them. Terrible for a wheelchair to get around on.

Price was double what we have paid in other cities for similar stays such as Calgary with similar amenities. Part of the fault lies in all the extra taxes and fees that Manitoba encourages hotels to charge customers. This trip was for medical purposes and found that only one hotel chain offered a reduction in cost but their base cost was even higher. Manitoba is not a province that offers reasonable stay rates like it did 15 years ago which is too bad.

The room was dirty and had a live worm on the bed sheets. They moved us but then only reimbursed 50% of the room fee. Had the city not been sold out we would have changed hotels

The breakfast was very good with everything that you’d expect and want. Location is easy to access and find. It’s located close to a newer and modern shopping area with shops and restaurants close by.

When we entered our room we noticed that it wasn’t vacuumed. That was unfortunate because the room was actually very nice otherwise.

My honest answer is that the rooms were about $20 too expensive per night and the plugging wasn’t working outside the plug the vehicle in.

The fact that the hotel provides a full breakfast and the staff was awesome.

Toilet was way too low with no bars on the wall. Definitely not senior friendly! I miss the pre-covid popcorn machine in the lobby.

I slept in someone else's URINE and I am highly disgusted and doubt I will ever return. The hot tub was down, the sauna didn't work. They refunded me one night but if I was not homeless for the 4 days I would of left. I have a dated video of the morning after my sleep of the bed. Highly disappointed. Yes I could of asked to change rooms but I had 2 kids, my mother and me and I was just exhausted with everything going on.

The beds in room 212 were very saggy. In hindsight we should have insisted on a different room.

Clean room friendly staff

Bathroom not clean, green sludge came out of the soap dispenser as there was so much bacteria green slime. Bath tub had not been wiped. Sheets on bed had fresh stain and hair:( Teens running the hallway waking us up all night. Breakfast was okay, but so many people that by the time could get food was gone. No where to sit. Coffee cups in room were dirty, and where coffee machine was was full of old sticky coffee. Only thing good about hotel was pool and staff was nice. Was told this was the best hotel there, but it wasn’t clean.

Large comfy room. Kick ass air conditioner. Boston pizza a short walk.

Staff went the extra mile by offering to drive us to a wedding so we didn’t miss the event when our bus was late.

Excellent all the way around. Staff went above and beyond.

It was great to get to after landing in Nova scotia

The breakfast was really delicious and the coffee served for breakfast was outstanding, delicious and always fresh! Room coffee -ugh don't bother making. Just go to main floor for really good coffee!
