It is such a beautiful, historic, and comfortable property. The location can’t be beat. The staff was so helpful and pleasant. The continental breakfast was simple but delicious. And Tapalpa is such a cool place.

The staff was clearly unaccustomed to guests who spoke Spanish imperfectly, to the point we didn't get breakfast until our final morning because no one bothered to tell us it was available and paid for (even while we do speak passable Spanish). We were locked out of the hotel our first evening there because we arrived back after 11PM. We banged on the door for 15 minutes until we woke someone to let us in. No apology. Made to feel it was somehow our fault.

Reviewed Mar 6, 2025This is a superb old mansion, full of beautiful antique furniture, but with all mod cons. and very comfortable, big beds. There was a log fire provided, which we did not use as the weather was mild. There were views of the mountains from one side of the house, and from the other, the streets of little whitewashed houses with their red-tiled roofs (Tapalpa is a "pueblo magico.") All the staff were kind and helpful. Parking in the street outside the hotel was easy. A delicious breakfast was provided, including fresh fruit, cheese, good bread and honey.

Reviewed Jan 20, 2025Es un alojamiento extraordinario. Hermosa casona con muchos toques que la hacen especial, ubicación inmejorable y la atención del personal súper profesional y servicial. Las camas extra cómodas, dormimos como hace mucho no lo hacíamos. La recepcionista, el velador, cocineras, meseros, todo extraordinarios. La chimenea, el agua de la regadera con mucha presión y calientita. 10 de 10. Volveremos sin dudar.

Reviewed May 6, 2024We loved Casona de Manzano. It was very close to the square in Tapalpa and we had a room upstairs that we could use for a gathering place at cocktail hour. The breakfast was very good and the staff were extremely accommodating. This is an old hacienda that was turned into a hotel many years ago. It is authentic, historic and quite beautiful.
We were there in May. A fan in the room during the daytime would have been nice, however, it was cool at night.

Reviewed Mar 13, 2024Hacienda Paradise in magical, timeless, gentle and “can’t believe these havens still exist in this World” - Tapalpa🙏 “ Mi casa es su casa”, “My home is Your Home” still applies here, at Hotel Casona de Manzano, in the truest sense of words. Second time staying and will be back, every time we will visit magical Tapalpa. This time I left with 7 big jars of bee honey, sweetest honey I’ve ever tasted - from the Doña owner herself bee hives. THE sweetest and most helpful staff I have ever encountered in a hotel, been around the World twice. From a Swedish former traveller, now full timer in beautiful Mexico with the most tolerant, smiling and generous people in the World. ♥️

We visited early in the week mid-April and parked on the street outside the hotel. I'm not sure where you park on the weekend? They must have a solution.

Son habitaciones amplias y queda a dos minutos caminando del centro. Son como dos cuadritas pequeñas y realemnte si buscas un lugar tranquilo, acogedor y sobre todo limpio... encontrarás este lugar perfecto.

Unos repetidores de internet estarian geniales.... de verdad Gracias nos la pasamos súper!

Reviewed Feb 2, 2020This is a beautiful, boutique hotel and we enjoyed every minute of our stay (2 nights). The interior of this old, renovated, immaculately maintained building is stunning. Our room was large and had a king size bed and fireplace and huge walk in shower. There was a sitting area between our room and our friends' which was very convenient for socializing. There is a complimentary Continental breakfast but you can, also, get a full breakfast ordered from the menu (at a cost). The meal is served in the lovely courtyard on the ground floor. We would like to thank Arturo for all is help and advice. He made our stay a pleasure. The hotel is a short walk from the main plaza/church and lots of good restaurants. If we return to Tapalpa, we will rebook Casona de Manzano and highly recommend.

Reviewed Jan 21, 2020This hotel has a very charming and colonial atmosphere. The old hacienda make you taste a little piece of colonial Mexico with modern amenities. My girlfriend and I loved our stay. Many nice touches since our arrival, including the personalized welcoming letter together with wine and fruit. We certainly will stay there again.

The landscape and mountains are stunning, particularly at this time of year, as the country side is full of flowers. the people in the hotel are very friendly and helpful, the service is excellent.

Reviewed Jul 28, 2018I would highly recommend this hotel. The staff do not speak English but were very helpful. We spent two nights here in July 2018. Breakfast was continental but had fresh baked sweet breads, yoghurt, fruit, and beverages. The were rain showers the second night, so we took advantage of the in-room fireplace. This hotel is great for a couples get-away. Wi-fi in-room was slow but the couch outside the room provided full speed.
