The building has a lot of character. The location is very good for the El Comino. Breakfast was lovely.

I waited quite a long time before someone came to check me in. The room had no window only a skylight. My room was over the restaurant and it was very noisy in the evening and at breakfast time.

it had character and the staff was super friendly and the shower water was strong and hot.

shower floor was basically tiles laid over an open pit. mold in the shower. cobwebs in the ceiling rafters.

Beautiful old building in a lovely location with a bar and restaurant so great for when walking the Camino! Also a beautiful creekside walk from the hotel into Markina.

A bit awkward to get to and would have been great to have some signs along the way as well as a lamp on the far side of the bed and a few more outlets!

Un lugar idílico atendido por gente insuperable que te hace la estancia acogedora. Una base fantástica para relajarte y perderte por los Montes Vascos, o disfrutar de la costa a unos minutos o sacar tu vena más aventurera con su enorme oferta de turismo activo: escalada, tiro con arco, tirolinas, surf… y, para mí, lo mejor de todo, su restaurante, con una carta de producto local que quita el sentido y una mano para las pizzas, en su horno de piedra, que atrae a gente de todo alrededor para las cenas (si te quedas, reserva por si acaso!)

El lugar es precioso. Y su personal es encantador, la chica de la recepción nos dio muchos tips para mejorar la ruta del Camino de Santiago en Bici hasta Bilbao.

A nicely renovated stone building

A bit of additional walk from the town when walking the Camino. Breakfast starts only at 7:30, which is late for the long walk to Gernika. Many camino guests left before the sunrise without breakfast, including us.

Very friendly staff, good atmosphere, building with a lot of character: a delightful place to spend a day or two.

The only thing that could have been a little better was the breakfast: a buffet would be preferable. There were no hot dishes, the jam could (and should) have been better quality, a better choice of croissants etc. It's a small complaint and did not spoil our stay, but it's the one thing the owners could improve.

Lovely place with a very nice relaxed atmosphere. Great building and lovely friendly helpful staff. Restaurant was very good and overall a very nice stay in a beautiful place.

The weather was wet but we needed rain after the long dry spell.

Los desayunos son espectaculares y restaurante tienen mucha variedad de platos de temporada con producto de la zona. Estaba todo buenísimo y nos atendieron de 10

Casi nada. Las habitaciones están bien y son cómodas. Hacia un poco de calor en agosto pero abriendo la ventana y con el ventilador que viene en la habitación se está perfectamente. La ducha quizás si que le faltaba algo de iluminación.

Super restaurant, et excellente nuit, dans un cadre charmant.

Le velux ne s'ouvre pas assez et ne permet pas d'évacuer la chaleur efficacement, mais le ventilateur ultra-puissant (peut être trop?) compense ce manque.

The staff was great. Very helpful and welcoming. The location is beautiful, and the hotel charming. It was nicely renovated. Some bathrooms were a little more dated than others, but fully functional. Overall, the setting, the beautiful old building, and the great staff made it a great find. The included breakfast was delicious and generously portioned. We also had a great dinner, with some local specialties and fantastic pizzas.

Nothing, we were very happy with our stay.

Très bel hôtel calme avec un accès facile aux sentiers pédestres. Bon petit déjeuner et la proposition de repas pour le soir est appréciable.

Chambre parents et enfants communicantes, espace agréable. Bon repas avec de bon conseils.

Mucho más pequeño que lo que parece en las fotos. Las camas muy incómodas. El baño que nos tocó pequeño y agobiante. Sólo una ventana pequeña en toda la habitación. Dadas las temperaturas de agosto y sin aire acondicionado, pasamos calor.

La ubicación en un entorno muy tranquilo,la decoración montañera por su paso con el Camino del Norte,el desayuno,la cena y el personal excepcional

Por poner un pero,en la habitación hace muchísimo calor que aún habiendo un ventilador, sólo mueve el aire pero no quita la calor insoportable de las dos noches casi sin dormir,pero lo demás perfecto y muy recomendable

La bâtisse, très belle et bien entretenue.

En plein été, il a fait très chaud dans notre chambre du 2e étage sous mansarde. La chambre était munie d’un ventilateur mais pour 3, un peu juste.

Character filled, and better than the photos. Bar and restaurant were lovely. Flat walk from either Markina or Erbera.

Pedestal fan did the job, but it wasn't a hot day when we were there. Quite dark and poky in places, but that's part of the character filled design (our room was lovely and light inside).

Hotel in a very interesting building. Very clean room and very nice personnel.

Estancia muy agradable, personal del diez, comida rica, desayunos muy abundantes y buenos... La localización del hotel es inmejorable, en mitad de las montañas. Chulísimo!! Venimos encantadas. Tengo que destacar la amabilidad del encargado, que sacó tiempo para charlar con nosotros y nos aconsejó y guió en parte de nuestros días por Euskadi. 🥰🥰

It was a little expensive for what it was. May be because if I booked directly with the hotel in future it might be cheaper. Id expect an Aircon for that price.

Mooi Baskisch hotel net buiten het dorp. Oude smederij met binnen een grote Atrium en daaromheen de kamers. Gemoedelijk en lekker even relaxen naar een warme dag.

Er mag wel een likje verf tegen aan. Binnenruimte perfect, kamers zijn goed maar kunnen ook wel even een opknapbeurt gebruiken.

Lovely people, relaxed vibe, gorgeous old building, v comfortable bed and a good dinner. Lovely walk into Markina-Xemein. A good stop after a long day’s walk on the Camino del Norte.

Breakfast basic but plentiful. Place needs a little care and attention.

Está un poco viejo. Desayuno suficiente aunque poco variado, acostumbrado a buffet de otros hoteles.

Impressive, 100-year-old estate. Peaceful country setting with full restaurant and bar. Staff was helpful and gave me great advice for bus options on a rainy day on the Camino.

Beautiful old converted blacksmith’s forge in a peaceful location just 20 minutes’ walk away from Markina. Fabulous breakfast, lunch and dinner and I liked it so much, I booked a second night so I could have a rest day inbetween the Camino del Norte legs. If you are on the Camino, the extra 20’minutes’ walk is through sheltered woodland along a stream so is no hardship!

Very nice place and lovely host. Good safe place to store the bike over night and great breakfast. Very happy to stay again.

We loved the atmosphere and rustic look of the hotel. The staff were nice. The location was lovely, a short, pleasant walk along the river to reach it. Our room had a spacious balcony which we enjoyed sitting on, in the sun.

My second time staying at Hotel Antsotegi and I wasn't disappointed. Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, great restaurant and a perfect spot for a special stay on the Camino.

The only thing I didn’t like was the poor communication. I messaged the property three times through Booking.com and emailed twice to their reservation address, and never received any response. I even called twice and got no answer. The third time I called I finally reached someone. It is disconcerting when you are traveling internationally to have such a difficult time reaching anyone.

Cute little Swiss type chalet. Very cool on the 35 degrees of heat when we were doing our camino. The food was beautiful.. staff were all very nice.

L'hôttel possède un cachet extérieur (pierre) et intérieur (bois) très appréciable, le personnel est prévenant et le cadre campagne-montagne est agréable et reposant. Le petit déjeuner, copieux, est de bonne qualité.

L'accés à l'hôtel n'est pas vraiment évident sur ces petites routes, surtout si, comme nous, on tombe en période de travaux routiers... Mais il ya bien pire.

Une ferme magnifique et chaleureuse. Une literie ultra confortable. Et un dîner typique basque excellent.

Det var fryktelig mye støy rundt midnatt, trolig fra baren rett under soverommene, hvor støynivået fra folkene påvirket veldig natteroen. Ut fra det, ville jeg ikke overnattet igjen.

Le style vieille grange réaménagée sur plusieurs niveaux et tous les bibelots qui vont avec. Un certain charme. Le service à table vraiment top ! Et gentillesse.

Qui dit bibelots, dit beaucoup de poussière et pas très propre. Bruit de ventilation jusqu'à très tard pas cool. Bonde de lavabo bouchée. Toiles d'araignée et auréoles d'humidité au mur.

Has not changed since I was there 10 years ago…which is a good thing. If you like rustic, low key, rural, with a mountain chalet feel, then this is the place for you. Restaurant also good & convenient for dinner. Breakfast best on the Camino so far. If you are on the Camino, take the left turn towards Etxebarria instead of passing thru Martina-Xemein.

El alojamiento está en un sitio estupendo y es muy agradable. El interior es espectacular. El personal muy atento y majo. El desayuno bueno.

Nuestra habitación tenía ciertas cosas que podría mejorarse. El baño necesita algunos arreglos, por ejemplo, el lavabo no tragaba bien. El agua de la ducha se sale fuera. Había mesita para una cama y para la otra no… Esto junto con algunos otros detalles hacen que en conjunto resulte caro relación calidad-precio.

Uiterst vriendelijke dames, super diervriendelijk. Onze hond werd ontvangen als een koning, heeft zelfs een ontbijtje gekregen. Alles gaat er heel gemoedelijk aan toe. Lekker gegeten in een authetiek kader. Ideaal voor wandel- en fietstocht.

Desayuno excelente, trato con el personal del hotel inmejorable. Cenamos también allí y hay una carta amplia para comer y bien de precio. Nos encantó. Repetiremos.

Die Lage ist super- direkt am Camino und ruhig gelegen.

Leider ist das Hotel nicht auf hungrige Wanderer eingestellt. Es gibt eine Bar aber außer Oliven, Chips und Eis gab es nichts. Und das Restaurant öffnet erst um 20 Uhr.

El personal es fabuloso, muy atento y te hacen sentir como en casa desde que entras por la puerta. Siempre dispuestas a ayudar en todo lo que puedan. El hotel es muy bonito, según entras te atrapa tanto si forma como toda su decoración. Te vas con la convicción de que volverás en cuanto puedas. Un diez.

Le cadre est bucolique. Cet hôtel a beaucoup de charme ! Le personnel est agréable et le patron très avenant ! N'hésitez pas à y séjourner.
