Ahu Ahu Beach Villas

We were a group of seven and stayed across two of the villas. I had stayed here before and loved it so much that I wanted to bring my family back with me this time. The property owners are genuinely some of the friendliest people you could ever meet — warm, easygoing and incredibly helpful. They were full of great suggestions about places to visit, and one evening we were even invited up near the house to watch the most amazing sunset, complete with snacks. It was such a lovely and memorable touch. The villas themselves are beautifully thought out and have such a unique New Zealand feel to them. They have everything you need for a comfortable stay and are designed to really make the most of the surrounding countryside and the beautiful views out over the Tasman Sea. The beds were very comfortable, and the electric blankets were perfect for the winter weather. We absolutely loved our stay and would happily return again. It is a very special place with wonderful hosts, beautiful surroundings and a real sense of New Zealand charm.

Espresso machine and more milk. I'm just not a fan of plunger coffee. Also we were 2 adults staying in separate rooms, I stayed in the upstairs single - no side tables to put anything on. Minor complaints, it's beautifully appointed.

The property is in a beautiful location, with expansive, breathtaking views of the coastline and sunsets. Huge lawns, giving a feeling of space and peace. Great access to the beach on which you can walk for miles! It’s close to local ammenities and the hosts are a friendly, respectful, welcoming and lovely couple

Location and size.

Although the theme was rustic the facilities are tired and had been well used. It was expensive for a wonderfully view and location.

I mean, you can not beat the location. The outlook is beautiful, it's quiet but close enough to shops if you need them. The villa is built with old world charm but is a newer build. So much history. Comfy and perfect for our weekend away, with our large dog. (It was awesome to have yet another pet friendly accommodation option with our boy)

地点一流，当然没车不行，日出日落都在家里看，绝美！两个房东很友善，还借鱼竿给我们钓鱼，不收费。房子是老钱风，细节很讲究，住得也舒服，景色一流，即便不出门也很开心！

冲凉区域有点扎脚，没有油烟机不太敢做菜

The mezzanine floor concept was not ideal for two couples. Perhaps a privacy curtain to the down stairs bedroom. More comfortable chairs for the sitting area.

The place was incredible, with the sea right in front of us, and the moon was almost full!!!

Amazing location, super clean, cozy unique accommodation

The location was fantastic and the ocean and beach views were amazing. It was a very chilled and relaxing place to stay. The kitchen was well equipped for self-catering and we only made the 10min trip to Ōākura once to visit Butler's Reef restaurant for tea - highly recommend this place for delicious food. Everything about the Villa was great. Families with kids and couples would enjoy staying here.

The tap dripped at night, but placing the dishcloth underneath solved the problem. It would have been good to have air-con.

This place was exceptional with absolutely stunning views. Was very comfortable and had everything we needed for a great stay.

We stayed here at the end of our trip and it was the perfect place to relax, enjoy the beautiful scenery and listen to the sounds of the surf and birds. Seth, Nuala and David all made a point of stopping by to see how we were settling in and it was lovely to read the history behind the creation of the villas. Cannot recommend this place enough - would still be there if we could ☺️

Our family of three stayed at the Ahu Ahu Beach Villas for three nights in the Green Window Villa. We had a queen bed downstairs and two twin beds in the loft. Such an incredible stay at an amazing property! Our villa had everything we needed and it felt like home. We could have literally moved in! Bring your own groceries or stop at the Coundown Spotswood grocery store or the Four Square Oakura down the road to stock up. Coffee, tea, sugar and milk are available in the villa. There are many wonderful restaurants in the area including Toret Cucina Italiana. We ate there one night and the meal was delicious. The villa is a great mix of eclectic vibe, cozy comfort and quiet serenity. We couldn’t wait to get back to the villa each day after touring the area to relax and unwind. A glass of wine outside while viewing the sea is magic! We walked on the nearly empty beach each night to watch the sunset. It’s a must each day of your stay! Or if you want, take a dip in the ocean. Don’t forget to shut off all the lights at night after dark and look at the star clustered sky. It’s truly an amazing sight! Definitely read the photo book detailing the origins and history of the villas. You will appreciate your stay even more. It was such a pleasure to speak with Seth and David one day during our visit. We wish we could come back every year but alas, it’s much too far for us from the United States. Thanks to everyone at Ahu Ahu Beach Villas for making our stay so magical!

The main bed was too soft for me so I went up to the loft to a single bed that was fine. My spouse stayed asleep lol

The villas have an amazing view of the see and the interior is also quite crazy. Management is friendly and tries to help whenever possible.

The warm-welcoming staff welcomed us to our beautifully pre-heated villa which was absolutely lovely and very comfortable. It has stunning coastline views and the whole environment carries such wonderfully high warm and positive energetics for anyone wanting a cosy, loving retreat away.

Disappointed that we didn't get to stay longer this time.

where do I start!!! we loved every single aspect of this stay. from the welcoming ;chalk board to the flowers in the wee vase, the wooden posts the glass window the view you name it, i would highly recommend this beautiful place to anyone who appreciates nature and nz at its best.

Amazing sunrise on the final morning.

Walls were very thin, could hear te conversation of the couple in the attached villa.

The cottage was super cute and felt like we were back in Europe again. As we were arriving late, our host had the lights and heaters on so was lovely and cosy when we arrived.

The location is fabulous. Just over 20mins from New Plymouth. Great scenery from a lovely rustic built cottage. It made it very easy to relax & unwind. Less than 5min walk to a quiet beach that has miles of black sands.

It had the most beautiful feel and the most spectacular view. What a stunning little find this was!

Stunning coastline views the second you walk in. We loved this little cottage, overlooking the sea, rustic and full of character, that has been built with reclaimed timbers, old wharf beams and recycled windows, and so much more. Has a basic little kitchen and a BBQ outside, so we went prepared with easy to cook meals. You are a long way out of town, but that is what makes this bolthole special, it is quiet, with the roar of the sea just down the hill. Going back in the summer, for a different feel.
