Ashbury Park Motel

Location was good. Having a laundry available at no extra charge, washing machine and dryer, was useful.

Bathroom and toilet was pokey and quite small.Larger people might have trouble entering and using it. Also it was accessed through a bedroom so could disturb someone sleeping at night.

Centralised and great accomodation

The bed was comfortable and the sheets were really lovely. I was pleased to have a place to stay in the event of not being able to get home with road closure.

The shower was elevated too high for an older person with limited mobility - at the very least it would have been useful to have a grab rail to help get in and out as it was such a high step up. The road traffic noise was quite bad - retrofitted double glazing the windows would have reduced the noise significantly. There were only vertical blinds over the window above the bed and the chill coming down on my head was a bit uncomfortable. The milk provided (although within date) was off and couldn't drink the tea and coffee.

It was a very small cramped room booked two rooms and one had the wrong configuration meaning we had to use a stretcher. The rooms were so dated blinds not covering windows and not clean.

Facilities described were all there except the wifi did not connect to the internet so was of no use.

Located on a hill on the main road with a set of lights at the bottom. Noise of braking trucks continued constantly throughout the night. The motel was probably built in the 70's and is need of a complete renovation.

The bathroom set up was really weird and old We had 2 bedrooms for 2 people .so could sleep 4 adults as 2 queen sized beds But we had to go through one bedroom to go to shower and toilet and the wash basin was in the actual 2nd bedroom. It was not particularly clean and net curtain ripped and moldy at the bottom Lots of condensation in the mornings and no fan in the toilet/ shower The first bedroom also had the kitchen and TV We were happy to get a room as everywhere was busy but we probably would not have chosen it if we had a choice

Arrived later in the afternoon, and found that the room was ready, but only one bed, not capable of hosting more than a couple and one child, the staff that where on site where very apologetic about this, and noted that previous people that had taken the family room that was listed ended up in this room, very small late 70's style motel room, place to sleep and we got through it...

The bathroom is very cramped up. Rooms need a bit of work an it's quite old. Bed was a bit uncomfortable found it difficult to sleep. Microwave door didn't open.

Very old and tired rooms for the money, I stay a lot around NZ and this definitely doesn’t represent good value, which I think is why there were few rooms occupied.

The step into the shower was too high for my elderly mother. Because of the steps we were able to access from Evans street. Staff were helpful with that information for access

Great for a couple or family members but one negative being the toilet/shower and basin are all accessed off of the rear twin single bedroom which could be difficult depending on the realtionship of the respective guests?

Convenient stop on the way from Dunedin to Christchurch for an overnight sleep. Very warm and welcoming family opener/operator

It was a little chilly at first. The heat pump was very noisey so turned on the plug in heater and that was much better

Directions to car park not easily seen from main road Booking.com not reading payment terms. Payment was to be made at premises however message stating booking would be cancelled if not paid prior.

Very comfortable one night stay. I was in top room closest to main road (SH1) so found traffic noise an ssue. Otherwise enjoyed my stay. Staff very friendly.

Rooms are warm in summer , no A/C or fan suplied. Windows open is fine , no problem with bugs.

The bathroom window sprung wide open, so it had to be closed during showering, the room got steamy, a fan would help.

Really enjoyed our stay here. The unit was very comfortable and well appointed. The hosts were awesome. The unit had lovely views and was conveniently located. Will definitely be back when we next visit Timaru.

Would have been better if toilet/shower was in different position, ie not having to go through bedroom to get to it.

The guy that was on was extremely friendly, understood that we'd be a little late and left the heat pump on so it would be warm when we arrived, nice cozy rooms and the beds were comfy too

The room feels congested and specially noisy in night because our room was near road so couldn't sleep properly.

Everything that a traveller needs & require

When we first arrived we were greeted with the warmest and loveliest people. Straight away we had a chuckle and they were so helpful. Our room was perfect as it was on the bottom floor and it was first room which made it easy and accessible for our baby gear. Ashbury is located in the perfect spot and is walking distance from Pak n Save, liquor store, Maccas, KFC and other food options. It’s a short drive to the main city centre and Caroline bay. It was super comfy and warm for our baby girl. She slept really well hopefully she didn’t cry too loud for our neighbours but they didn’t seemed bothered when they met her in the morning. We will definitely be back for sure!

There needs to be a rail or handle to hang on to when getting out of the shower. My mother in law found it challenging! More lighting options would be good.

The bathroom was tiny and the wifi was terrible!

The owner was nice and polite. The room was cleaned and everything was replaced every day. The owner was accommodating to needs of my child as i needed a bottom unit. Bed was comfy.

Internet reception was.bad. Didn't say it was 2 storey pl when booking.
