Beautiful location.

It’s OLD and unloved and is in desperate need of a good clean, some fresh paint, a visit by a handy man, a high pressure deck wash, a window clean and much better heating.

Beautiful location. Great breakfast buffet. Beautiful buffet food for the wedding. Great staff. Good biscuits.

The property is run down. The roads and car parks inside the resort are in disrepair with potholes. The accommodation was rundown. The windows were extremely dirty which meant opening the sliding door to see the view. The sliding doors need maintenance as they are extremely difficult to open and close. There is mould on the window frames and door frames. There was a cleaners rag on the bench inside our room. The carpet was disgusting in most of the rooms and villas especially in number 30 where there are stains over the floor. The floor in the bathroom was dirty and there was a toe nail on the floor. The ironing board cover was dirty and the iron had black marks which stained clothes. The lounges in the villas were stained, smelly and dirty. The surrounding grounds need maintenance. This would have been amazing back in its early days.

We were stuck on a super windy day, so we couldn’t really enjoy the outside view much. That said, the place has an absolutely stunning view, and you can totally catch a sunset from your balcony.

I would like to respectfully bring to your attention a few concerns regarding my stay. The cleanliness of the restroom was somewhat lacking, particularly with visible water marks near the closet area, and the toilet paper provided appeared to be of a lower quality, which may not meet expectations for the price. Additionally, the TV remote did not function properly, and the Wi-Fi signal was inconsistent, which may affect the overall experience. I kindly hope these issues can be addressed to improve the quality of service.

The staff were very impressive. From Kat at reception (hope I spelt it right) to Georgia at the restaurant, we felt very looked after and welcomed.

Accomodation was a little run down, but we did already know this and the veiws from our room made up for that!

only 1 heater in the lounge which wasn’t in any of the rooms. TV very old wasn’t working. Dishes were left a little unclean as well. stayed here before in the king room much better then the villa. disappointed with how it is.

We loved our view of the beach and the natural life around us definitely a great escape from reality

On arrival we could tell the room was not cleaned properly there were a few things still left in the cupboards and on the shelf’s but honestly it didint even faze us because everything else blew our minds

Amazing views! Soooo beautiful! Well set up space with an awesome restaurant on site. Super impressed with the meal. Excellent water pressure, comfy beds, and couch, full kitchen in our 2 bedroom chalet, and a washer and dryer. Staff were lovely and friendly, wish we could have stayed a week,

Laundry needs a door, felt sorry for the cleaners as the drier dust was blowing everywhere even though I cleaned out the lint etc. The bedroom could do with a heater panel, in case you like to sleep with the door shut. Neither of these things made a difference to the amazingness that was our stay, just suggestions.

The when checking in we were not told the the aircon/ heat didn’t work. Had 2 tiny portable heaters. Than no coffee sachets. Felt old and rundown.

It was a great place to stay. Our villa was awesome and had everything we needed. The food was of excellent quality and the staff were exceptional. We will be back as it was a great place to destress

Seeing the view through a thick salt crust on the windows (but, being fair, its the windy west coast and the units are very proximate to the sea so keeping the windows clean would be a total mission!). Minor faults in unit (one heated towel rail not working and smell in a bathroom which we would put down to backdraft from septic). Limited cooking utensils (a better chopping board and trivets please).

Two bedroom chalet was gennuinely out of this world, that balcony view is life changing.

We booked two nights in a villa at Castaways Resort and had been really looking forward to our stay. When we arrived, the reception staff kindly upgraded our booking to include breakfast, which was a lovely gesture and greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, our experience changed as soon as we opened the door to the villa. We were met by an overpowering smell of cigarette or cigar smoke throughout the accommodation. As a non-smoking family, we found this extremely unpleasant. We contacted reception immediately but were told that we could not be moved because all the other villas were booked. We opened every door and window in an attempt to air the villa out, despite the weather being freezing cold, and had to keep our jackets on inside. Reception sent a can of NiloSmoke to the villa, which helped slightly, but the smell remained strong and very off-putting. We sprayed the villa again before leaving for dinner, hoping it would improve while we were out, but unfortunately it made little difference. To make matters worse, the air-conditioning unit in the main living area appeared to be faulty and would only blow cold air. This meant that only the bedrooms could be properly heated. We contacted reception again and were told that maintenance had been paged, but nobody arrived. The heating in one of the bathrooms was also not working. At the price charged for a villa, particularly at what we consider to be the higher end of the accommodation market, we do not believe it is acceptable to be provided with a villa that reeks of smoke and has multiple heating faults. The inability to move us may have been outside the immediate control of the reception staff, but the villa should not have been made available to guests in that condition. The breakfast upgrade and kindness of the reception staff were appreciated, but unfortunately they did not make up for having to spend our stay in cold, smoke-smelling accommodation. We expected considerably better from Castaways Resort.

The view situated overlooking Tasman sea is stunning.

Access from carpark to villa Tane reverse and also at night from villa to restaurant ,is a nightmare…relying on a single golf buggy is such a clumsy , slow system especially when raining! We made sure both times were booked as per instructed and both times we were forgotten and had to wait 40 minutes. We needed extra warmth one night only to discover a soiled duvet( body fluids) in the cupboard yuk!

The location of this place is stunning. Overlooking Kariotahi Beach, the sunsets are gorgeous and the deck looking out over the beach was perfect. The location is serene, there's nothing much around and the chalets are spaced apart such that you don't see much of any neighbours. The rooms are spacious, bathrooms are adequate, the washer and dryer were a bonus. There's ample room in a 2 bed chalet for at least 4 guests. The day spa was incredible. A beautiful location, fabulous staff and the stone bath was just the best - especially at sunset. The restaurant is handily located with a varied menu and helpful staff and convenient open times.

Based on the website, I had high expectations of how classy or fancy or nice the place was going to be. We booked a deluxe chalet which the website describes as having been recently renovated. While the kitchen was very modern, other parts of the chalet were a little tired. It was end of season so it may be that there's a plan to do more over the winter, but the blown out eaves and the aged net curtains along felt long overdue for attention rather than just end of season. That said, I would absolutely still recommend the place, it's lovely! Just lower your expectations if you're looking for a boujie romantic getaway.

The distance I had to walk from the car to my room as I was told there were no buggies available at the time. However we managed to get a buggy to the restaurant for dinner which was so nice. And back to the room after dinner

The view is absolutely stunning. This is my fourth stay here.

The wifi was diabolical and for $300 a night and offering a streaming service in order to watch something on the TV, you should be able to do so. Some ongoing maintenance definitely needs to adhered to. The view really superseded the small issues. There appeared to be a car parked in front of “11”!which made it dangerous for us to reverse out of. If that’s their designated park, it may need revising

I love this place for the views and the comfort of the beds and the availability of the restaurant on site

I am tired of raising the same issues with this place to find that nothing seems to change. The cleanliness has NEVER been up to a very high standard and every time I have stayed, I have had moldy nets or curtains and appliances that do not work. The communication is appalling as it seems to be up to the guest to constantly chase up to actually get a response. Any time I have raised issues with them I am told someone will call me. Nobody does. If you manage to get an issue resolved they thank you for bringing it to their attention and they will use the feedback for training but again, nothing changes,

Breakfast a bit ordinary eg availability of fruit but in defence it was Mothers Day. The restaurant dinner was very good.

The accommodation is a little tired-but is a corrosive environment. Otherwise very comfortable.

Great Location and wonderful views from the balcony. Ensuite bathrooms made it very comfortable for the inmates and maintained great privacy for everyone. The staff arranged a beautiful decoration and complimentary dessert on request as it was my wife's bday. If you are lucky enough ,you can stargaze too.

There was no in - room phone service in chalet 18 where we stayed , making it difficult for contacting the staff.
