The pub was fine - iconic in Greytown
The room we stayed in was poor. The bed and pillows were very uncomfortable. There is nowhere in the bathroom for toiletries. The room was very cold and the heater didn't work properly. There is no soundproofing between rooms.
Great meals
Lovely friendly staff. Refurbished spotlessly clean accommodation, comfy bed, great shower and a lovely roast chicken dinner what more do you want?
Nothing
We appreciated its location. We were given an upgrade to a suite which was fabulous and a real treat. We ate in the gastro pub, an open fire, and wonderful food and service was appreciated. We would highly recommend this hotel.
Nothing
Beautiful hotel. Dinner at the restaurant was superb. Very friendly helpful staff. Would highly recommend.
.
Centrally located and lovely staff
The park from itself was just lovely. Comfy beds and plenty of room Had a lovely meal, burger on a plate, at the gastro
Would not book the park room again. On one side there was a 21st in the garden until 5pm and on the other side a public park. Sheer curtains might be a good option so you don’t feel so exposed

Fabulous central location, lovely room and amazing food!!
Right in middle of town, but still lovely and quiet
Went over for one night for the midwinter snow supper. It meets all our expectations. Fabulous room, fantastic food, amazing midwinter atmosphere, and the service as always was great.
Very pleased we decide to stay. We had park studios unit 5 not a big unit but was fine for the two of us. Very little road noise as unit set back from the main road . Clean and tidy. Was a very cold day heater kept the unit very warm. Comfortable bed and great shower.
Service and the environment were excellent
Liked everything
We stayed overnight in The Homestead Suite of The White Swan, and it was absolutely faultless. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the shower pressure was brilliant. The suite was immaculately clean, and it was a space in which it was easy to unwind and relax. I can see why they offered ear plugs, too. While it was extremely quiet when we stayed (and incredibly rainy), I would expect that in the height of summer it could be noisy because the room sits over the garden. Even so, any potential noise is a small trade-off for such a charming setting. But, really, it was the small details that made it a wonderful stay: from the incredibly friendly welcome upon arrival, to an electric blanket on the bed and large, fluffy towels in the bathroom; from lush products, a deep bath, and huge shower, to fresh milk, cookies, and gourmet tea and coffee options. The list goes on! It’s too bad we only spent one night before travelling onwards. There’s loads to explore in this corner of NZ, and The White Swan’s the base from which to do it. Do yourselves a favour and stay here. What a place!
Celebrated my birthday with a wonderful dinner at The White Swan. The food was gorgeous (we had the lamb rump and the brisket reuben), the drinks were superb (if you’re into cocktails, I recommend the Riversdale Rosebud) and the service was outstanding! We were looked after by Charlee, who was an absolute delight and made us feel incredibly welcome. In fact every member of staff we spoke to had the same sunny outlook, even though it was a wet and gloomy night outside. It’s easy to see why this place comes so highly recommended. Thank you!!!
Amazing room.....clean, comfy, bed was a cloud......food sensational......shower you could have a party in......you must go and stay.....highly recommend
We had visited Greytown for some time out. The White Swan upgraded us to their ‘Suite’. Stunning on all counts. Its location was on the ground level wit the car park right along side. The staff were very cheerie from Reception to the staff in the restaurant. Totally enjoyable. Probably the best accommodation we have stayed in in some time.
It took us a while to master the TV and its apps.!
Excellent location and we were upgraded to the Pinot Noir suite it was stunning.
Nothing everything was amazing.
We were lucky to get a Park Suite and it was absolutely wonderful 👍
Room was excellent, the restaurant was very goode
Excellent Staff so friendly and obliging Amazing service
Friendly staff. Menu launch was an excellent night out.
Beautuful botique hotel with lovely staff and restaurants. Highly recommend.
Awesome hotel with lovely rooms, ammenities, great staff, awesome food and great bar. Electric blanket bonus. Really enjoyed our stay… we will be back.
Excellent staff, fantastic facilities, superb food & drinks and can't wait to stay there again. Staff always helpful and could do enough actually! Check in / out was friendly & easy and staff escorted to our grand room on arrival. Heater going ... it was cosy as. Beautiful & tidy inside & out.
We were travelling to Wellington for Kings Birthday weekend and decided to leave on Friday and stay at the White Swan. We had the best treatment and a great room looking over the park. Comfortable bed warm and cosy. The receptionist was our waitress too, as we dinned in the Restaurant that night. The food was amazing and we just had the nicest time. Would highly recommend a stay. Thanks team
Very central
Road noise
Our stay at The White Swan was absolutely amazing! We were so pleasantly surprised when they upgraded us to the Suites. It was a lovely gesture that made our trip truly special
Nothing at all
very clean and tidy
great location and loved the heritage of the main building
The White Swan definitely didn’t disappoint. We stayed in The Homestead suite, an enormous, tastefully furnished room complete with a kitchenette, dining table and comfortable couch. The bathroom was super clean complete with an enormous shower and a luxury bath. We enjoyed a snack in the pub one night but on the second night we were treated to a gourmet dinner experience at The Captain’s Table. We couldn’t fault it - every dish was an absolute delight to look at and to taste. The waitress was knowledgeable, patient and friendly. The hotel check in and out was efficient and the staff were a pleasure to deal with. We can’t wait to return!
Location. Staff. Historical ambience. The bed was super comfortable.
Zero
The historic hotel has excellent facilities with spacious well appointed bedrooms, a lively gastro pub and a divine restaurant. Centrally located in Greytown and the Wairarapa, this is a great central touring point, easily accessible from Wellington. The food in the bar and the restaurant are excellent and there is a generous list of wines and spirits. The staff are uniformly outstandingly personable and professional, and Tulsi our serve was outstanding.
Nothing
Beautiful inn with a great location! Spacious and comfortable and well maintained rooms. Wonderful food - we ate at the inn our entire stay- and the most helpful staff ( I left my winter vest and they found it and shipped it to my next stop all for free- so impressed and appreciated!). I would absolutely stay here again and would recommend to all travellers !
Outstanding iconic accommodation worth the price you pay for luxury. The Swan is a great old homestead with great character. Booking was so easy, and we were upgraded to a North facing room with a balcony. The staff are amazing, mixing professionalism with a personal touch. Our welcome was warm and informative, and the restaurant and gastro pub staff provided great hospitality throughout. The room was large and beautifully appointed, with a generous sofa and lounge chairs. The bed was also generous and very comfortable. The bathroom was a real treat, with an excellent spacious shower and a bath. A real home from home. The hotel is centrally located in the Greytown shopping precinct, which has a wide range of offerings, from art and antiques, through clothing, to a distillery. It’s located on State Highway 2, which is busy by day; however, our room was quiet and tranquil. Greytown is worth several hours of your time, but there is a heap of winery and tourist activities in the wider Wairarapa.
Lovely country hotel great bar.

Lovely spacious room with outlook to the park and seating outside to enjoy the outdoors. Great central location to Greytown and would happily stay again.
Our room was super spacious. The location was perfect. Parking safe and secure. Food outstanding.

Great location with a nice view from the room. A small, comfortable boutique hotel perfect for a weekend escape.
I requested a few things in the room, which the property confirmed but were not provided upon my arrival.

The room was beautiful. Having the lil patio was cool. The room was surprisingly sound proof. Warm and cozy.
Nothing to say here.
So close to all shops, staff lovely, food great
We think glass panels in the shower would be better as the water went everywhere with the shower curtain
friendly staff awesome meals
We stayed at the White Swan for my birthday. We had a dinner and room package which also included a breakfast. The staff were really helpful and friendly and nothing was too much. We stayed in the Homestead Room. Its a very nice large room we couldn't believe how big it was . Quite and comfortable. The dinner was superb while they dont do a wine recommendation we asked and the waitress / checked us in/ checked us out brought up breakfast ( she seemed to do every thing) made recommendations for us. The wines were matched beautifully full points. Breakfast was lovely local produce. This was a great sty very relaxed really comfortable and great value for money. The location is superb. We have stayed before and would stay aagin. We left our Jackets in the wardrobe they responded to our email and sent the jackets by courier free of charge. Its a great experience and you should stay there!
Had Park Suite .. nice big room great shower and opened out onto park and Saturday markets. Great outdoor bar area with live (but gentle) music on a Saturday afternoon
Location Quieter than expected being within close proximity to the hotel Great bed large and super comfortable Lovely pressure in shower
Could hear people in apartment above walking within their apartment Did not have access to Sky channels - for the nightly price one would expect to have this offer as an option ?
Everything our stay was exceptional the staff restaurant our room which we were upgraded was outstanding cannot thank them enough for our stay
Nothing it was exceptional

Beautiful, spacious room, great location in centre of town. I stayed one night to attend a friend's birthday drinks - also at the hotel. It was a stunning day and the garden bar out the back was a perfect private venue, plenty of seating, shade and green, and a private bar. I got upgraded to the Homestead room which was palatial and beautifully presented. It was lovely to have a cup of tea in the sun on the deck in the morning. All the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Highly recommended, I wish my husband could have been there with me!
We were very kindly upgraded to the homestead suite which was extremely comfortable...
Really comfortable bed.
Bistro meal was very poor. Had fish and chips. Salad straight from a bag, fish overcooked.
My wife and I both had excellent meals on arrival from the bar menu delivered to our room. Friendly staff and a lovely clean and well appointed room. Very comfortable bed so a very restful night. Greytown is a lovely small town with well kept up buildings and a good variety of businesses to satisfy most visitors.
Got upgraded loved it would recommend and have just wonderful
Nithing
Mind blown. How is this so amazing? The themed rooms are so creative and of the highest quality. So cool.

price for room - out of touch with reality
Clean and tidy, room was spacious, food was great and location perfect.
Loved the room and decor.
It was very very noisy. I've stayed here at the Homestead before and haven't had any noise issues, but I wouldn't book Hunter again.
Breakfast is delivered to your room. I was a bit disappointed about this at first, because I love hotel breakfasts with lots of choices, fresh coffee, etc. However the breakfast delivered was lovely: granola, fruit, yoghurt, a coffee plunger to make fresh in your room, croissant, butter, jam. There was a card showing they were all local products which was good advertising for Wairarapa businesses. The room I had was in an annex and upstairs. I had plenty of help getting my suitcase and breakfasts up the stairs. I had windows on one side and a balcony looking over a park on the other, with a table and chairs and very private. I tried dinner in the bar one night and in their more cordon bleu restaurant another night and both were great. The staff were all very obliging and seemed very committed to the hotel's success. I would definitely stay there again.
Nothing.
Wonderful evening at the White Swan. Have visited before and usually eat in the restaurant, but decided to try the gastro menu this time and we were not disappointed! Two of us shared the Butcher’s Board, followed by some exquisite desserts. Food was amazing, matched only by the superb service and extensive drinks selection. Thank you, we’re already looking forward to our next visit!
The towels! You can always tell the quality of a place by their fluffy towels. Their staff also looked like they enjoyed working at the hotel which gave the place a lovely vibe.
A small suggestion, it would be nice to have had a plunger coffee in the tea and coffee bar in the suite.
Loved the property food and drink were excellent have booked for next month
