Murchison Lodge

Beautiful ,cosy lodge, with everything you need after travelling all day. Big, comfy bed, fire on the go, spacious room and bathroom. Breaky included and it was wonderful. Home made bread and jam, fresh fruit,plus a hot breaky if you choose. Phil is a great host and it was a warm , lovely nights stay.

Everything went so smooth from arriving to departure. The breakfast was delicious and the atmosphere with the woodfire was so cozy. Thank you Philipp and see you again.

Host was available for checking us in and then to farewell us which was lovely as are finding the whole idea of bed and breakfast has mostly been lost with lock boxes with keys - no breakfast and no contact with the owner, and has become very impersonal

The cabin was very cozy, especially the fireplace. The breakfast spread was phenomenal and a great surprise. Philip is an amazing host! We thought Murchison would be just a quick stop to sleep at on our way South, but the Murchison Lodge turned out to be a real gem and highlight for us.

We had a fantastic stay at Murchison Lodge and only wish it had been longer. Philip was a wonderful host, the room was spotless and very comfortable, and the setting is absolutely beautiful. Highly recommended to anyone.

Very homely. The location was quiet but within walking distance of the centre of Murchison. The owner was very welcoming and provided the best breakfast of my 14 day road trip! I didn't want to leave ....

Sehr saubere Unterkunft mit schönem, großem Zimmer. Es gibt eine große, gut gepflegte Gemeinschaftsküche, die man mitbenutzen darf, ebenso einen gemütlichen Aufenthaltsraum mit einer großen Auswahl an Brettspielen. Philip hat uns ein ganz wunderbares Frühstück mit selbst gebackenem Brot und richtigem Kaffee gezaubert. Die Lodge ist sehr ruhig gelegen. Parkplatz direkt am Grundstück. Es gibt auch einen überdachten Sitzbereich im Freien.

Leider das übliche Miniaturwaschbecken im Bad, aber dafür gab es eine normale Handbrause in der Dusche.

Tucked away yet easy to find. Quiet. Welcoming. Every aspect of the space was warm, friendly, and comfortable, and our hosts provided a superb experience. When we arrived, they asked us to fill out a menu request in detail for breakfast so they knew what we would want, and then went beyond our expectations. Almost all the breakfast fruit was from the property, and it was delicious. Freshly-baked bread, spreads made from their own fruit, very good coffee. Everything on the table was high quality. There are plenty of B&Bs I'd happily stay at again, but not many I'd arrange an itinerary specifically to revisit. This was in that elite class; if I have the good fortune to visit the south island again, I'll look for an opportunity to return, for a longer visit next time.

Phillip was very accommodating and kind. The lodge had some really nice touches like free tea and coffee and fruit. The breakfast was great, eggs poached to perfection!

Philip was a humorous, knowledgeable and caring host. He tailor-made incredible breakfast for each of his guest which was cooked with fresh eggs and ingredients. The room and bathroom were spacious.

It was away from all the traffic and just quiet and peaceful. Philip was an Excellent host, he made our stay memorable one.

Amazing hideaway after traveling through the country! The lodge is surrounded by beautiful nature and is well maintained while the inside feels cozy with a great eye for interior. The lovely owner, Phillip, was welcoming us warmly right after arrival and made sure that we’ve got everything we needed. He was also kind enough to make us a beautiful breakfast in the morning, including many amazing (!) gluten free options which we really appreciated. Thank you so much! We‘d 100% recommend if you’re passing through Murchison!!

Riverside King Room @ Murchison Lodge was wonderful, quiet, private, warm & comfortable with a brilliant breakfast by Philip who is a super host

Location was idyllic, hosts were fabulous ! Breakfast was out of this world. Home baked bread was delicious. Short walk to river was good to see sunset. Can’t fault anything - a must stay if travelling via Murchison.

Our room was really comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was excellent and Phillipe was a very attentive and friendly host. The position of the property is off the main road so very quiet and we liked the path down to the river where we watched the sunset.

This place is an absolute gem!! If you are around Murchison and looking for a place to stay, this is the place. Philip, the owner, took amazing care of us from the first moment we arrived. The room was very nice and clean, newly renovated, spacious bathroom, very comfortable beds. Everything is walking distance (the town is not very big). Plenty of on site private parking. Breakfast was cooked by Philip with all home-made ingredients or things from the garden. We can definitely recommend staying here, and we hope to back again soon ourselves!

We loved this stay. Philip was very welcoming and the room (Fantail) had a lot of space to put things. There were hooks on the wall for jackets, two chairs, two luggage stands, and screens on the windows to keep the sandflies out. The horses were fun to visit and feed, the cats were always around, and the sheep would pass by in the evenings. It was walking distance to town, and easy walking to a food truck that sold burgers and tacos and next door to that was an ice cream stand. The breakfast was really nice! You got to choose every day what you wanted and it was delicious. There was an honesty box for drinks if you wanted them, and he had snacks out for you too. It was a lovely stay and we would not hesitate to recommend!

The only minor thing was that the shower head didn't stay upright.. But we didn't bother to mention it.. It was a very small thing

Fantastic B&B, ideal for short as well as longer stays. Very comfortable room, common area, and most importantly, a wonderfully kind host. Philip makes you feel very welcome the moment you arrive at the B&B, and cares for everything during your stay. A lovely sanctuary that had the right balance of communal areas and privacy. Philip was an excellent host and made a great breakfast for us with homemade touches.

Sehr gute Lage in einem schönen Garten. Geniale Unterkunft, sehr sauber, sehr freundlicher und hilfsbereiter Gastgeber. Super Frühstück.

Gastgeber ist extrem entgegenkommend und freundlich. Wir durften ihm sogar unsere Wäsche zum Waschen geben. Die Lodge ist super gemütlich, sowohl die Zimmer, als auch der Gemeinschaftsraum. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und die Zeit genossen. Das Frühstück war zudem auch sehr lecker und wir durften selbst aus vielen Dingen alles wählen, was wir wollten. Das Brot und die Scones waren selbst gemacht, die Eier und der Speck frisch zubereitet.

Amazing property in a stunning location close to town and the river. The hosts were amazing, friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable and the fantastic breakfast set us up for the day.

Great host, Philip was so welcoming, and the hospitality was perfect. The house was beautiful, had everything we needed, lovely room and a huge bathroom, cosy living room to spend the evening. The grounds were nice to walk around and try from the fruits on the trees. Breakfast was delicious, all freshly and home made including the bread, jams and Musli. This place is highly recommended.

The property was lovely and it was nice that it was a bit tucked away in private, even though everything is just a drive down the road. The host was very helpful and friendly, even recommending us places to go and eat. The breakfast was excellent and very generous, and the homemade raspberry jam, granola, yoghurt, and bread were delicious!! The room and bathroom were spacious and very clean and tidy. I would definitely recommend staying here, it was a fantastic stay !!

After a long journey, we were greeted by a very warm welcome from our host Philip. Our room had a lovely private outside terrace where we could sit and soak up the atmosphere of the bush around us and listen to the bird song. At night it was perfect for star gazing. The breakfast was excellent with a good choice of things on offer. We really enjoyed the laid back ambience of the whole place. If you can stay longer, there is also a very comfortable lounge for relaxing.

Der Aufenthalt war einfach großartig: Philip ist ein unglaublich netter, hilfsbereiter und aufgeschlossener Gastgeber, der uns persönlich und sehr herzlich empfangen hat. Der Check-in verlief vollkommen unkompliziert, und wir haben viele hilfreiche Tipps erhalten sowie nette Gespräche geführt. Besonders hervorzuheben ist das mit viel Liebe zubereitete Frühstück mit selbstgemachtem Brot, Marmeladen und Ei, das individuell auf unsere Wünsche abgestimmt wurde. Die Umgebung war extrem ruhig, sodass man vollkommen abschalten und wirklich gut runterfahren konnte. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt und können diese Unterkunft uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen.

The most charming lodge in the quaintest little town with a fantastic host Was fully charmed by everything in this accommodation and sad we weren’t staying longer We don’t eat breakfast but our host insisted on letting us take some of his homemade bread and muesli for the road and it was as good as advertised 100% recommend

Très belle ambiance châlet de montagne, décoration raffinée. Le propriétaire est très sympa et professionnel. Pour ceux qui ont du mal avec l'anglais, il parle très bien le français.

Die Murchison Lodge ist sehr komfortabel und gemütlich ausgestattet. Die Lodge liegt nah am Fluss, zu dem ein kleiner schöner Spazierweg führt. Philipp, der Hausherr, führt das Haus mit viel Kreativität, Empathie und Interesse an seinen Gästen, bietet ein perfektes Frühstück und wer ihn herausfordert, eine spannende Schachpartie, Ein schöner Aufenthalt mit viel Information und Gesprächen.

Wirklich tolle Lage und sehr netter Gastgeber. Uneingeschränkt zu empfehlen. Tolles Frühstück & gute Essensempfehlung für's Pub im Ort.

Just a delightful place. Wonderful B&B. Phillip, a displaced Swiss was the perfect host. The property is well maintained and every conceivable plaything/convenience was available - even golf clubs for those who want to play a NZ$15 round of golf! I am a light breakfast eater, but there was no eating light when I saw the homemade bread, mini-scones and jams to go with a full selection of English Breakfast and other goodies. They have a lovely walk down to the river and what was expected to just be a stopover in a little town, turned out to be one of the highlights of the trip!

We loved staying at Phillip's lodge. We stayed in the large room and it waz so spacious and comfy and had such great views. Breakfast was great, we got to pick how we wanted our eggs, there was delicious homemade bread, different granolas, homemade jam and plenty of coffee. Phillip was a great and very friendly host and we loved that we had flexibility in breakfast time. Everything was very clean and well kept. There are board games as well and a nice living room/ common area. It was very peaceful and quiet, just birds singing. We would stay again.

Thank you to the very warm and helpful host. We liked the spacious living room with games, fireplace and self-service bar, and the possibility of using the kitchen. The terrace and the seating area by the river are fantastic. We felt right at home and would love to come back.

An excellent host with vast knowledge of the world, and love for chess. The breakfast was amazing, and I had a great night rest at a very idyllic town.

I didn't realise it was a communal lounge and breakfast area when I booked it, but this added to the experience, it was nice to meet other guests and hear their travel experiences.
