Havenlee Homestay

Right from the start, Jan and Ian welcomed us into Havenlee house and looked after us. Their hospitality was outstanding and the breakfasts were delicious and kept us going during our active days exploring the area. They both have excellent knowledge of the area including places to eat etc.

Jan and Ian are super hosts, very knowledgeable, and informative. Their home is immaculate and extremely comfortable. Breakfast was amazing. It's 10 out of 10 in all aspects.

The hosts jsn and Ian were fabulous. They made you feel so at home. It was so clean and breakfast was good too.

Wondeful homestay! Jan and Ian are lovely people who attended to every detail to make my stay with them comfortable and enjoyable. Good healthy breakfast, pleasant comfortable room, everything clean & tidy with perks like a bathrobe and being able to do my laundry.

Jane and Ian who own the property welcomed us very warmly. We had such a lovely breakfast every morning and had interesting chats with Jane and Ian, they are the nicest hosts I have ever come across. Would highly recommend staying here when visiting Westport . Jane gave us a bunch of Feijoa fruit from her garden when we were leaving

Jan and Ian were the loveliest hosts, couldn’t ask for more. So clean, welcoming and extra comfy bed. Breakfast was beautiful and delicious. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Usually prefer a bathroom directly adjoining bedroom, but it was clear in posting it’s down the hallway so no complaints. Extra extra extra clean and spacious (and comfy robes) more than offsets

The owners Jan and Ian were friendly and welcoming, and the house was well setup for visitors, with everything we needed. The rooms were comfortable clean and quiet and there was a good restaurant close by. Breakfast was fantastic and really well organised, and the hosts gave us great advice on what we should do when we left on the rest of our holiday.

I can't think of anything that could have been better.

Everything is so neat and clean. The best part are the hosts, welcoming, entertaining, helpful. I would love to have them as neighbours. The breakfast cooked by them was delicious and I personally love to talked with them.

Tolle Gastgeber, die Zimmer in ihrem Eigenheim vermieten. Sehr nett, sehr hilfsbereit und morgens ein Frühstück, das keine Wünsche offen lässt. Unser Bad war nebenan, das hat aber in keinster Weise gestört, zumal auch Bademäntel zur Verfügung gestellt werden. Eine schöne Erfahrung auf unserer Reise.

Ganz tolle Gastgeber! Sehr nett und freundlich und interessiert. Nach einem ausgezeichneten Frühstück haben sie sich noch zu uns gesetzt und wir haben erzählt. Es war schade, dass wir nicht noch länger Zeit hatten. Die Lage ist gut, schön ruhig, man kann in den Ort laufen, es gibt ein nettes Lokal etwa 5 Minuten zu Fuß weg.

Es war ungewohnt, dass das Bad nicht am Zimmer dran war.

Our hosts Ian and Jan were lovely, very welcoming and provided us with plenty of suggestions on what to do and where to eat around town. I was there to run the Old Ghost Ultra and they helped me out by washing my running gear - definitely above and beyond. Both had a great sense of humour and I would highly recommend Havenlee should you be heading to Westport.

AWESOME Breakfast, very hospitable, great hosts, clean, tidy, thoughtful hosts, close to amenities and lived up to all expectations and its reputation. Friendly folk that were very helpful.

Only a very small matter in that the lighting in the bathroom didn't shine on the face for shaving but i did it by feel. THIS PLACE IS REALLY GOOD AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Easy walking distance to the centre of town; very comfortable queen sized bed and amazing breakfast. A very friendly, helpful, informative and hospitable couple. Unexpectedly we were faced with catching a bus at 7am and our hosts got up early to have breakfast ready for 6am and dropped us off at the bus stop. We liked Westport and enjoyed the walk to the seal colony at Cape Foulwind.

Ian and Jan were warm and very hospitable. The location was easy to find and we enjoyed the quiet little neighborhood with parking right in their drive. They preparedus a very hearty breakfast. We felt like we were being sent off by family when we left!

Great selection for breakfast. Lovely hosts and home where we were made very welcomed. Annex room was ideal with own bathroom and kitchen plus an outdoor area to sit outside. Easy walking distance to shops and eateries.

You won't find a more delightful, helpful and engaging couple than Jan and Ian. Nothing was too much trouble. Ian even dried out our wet shoes for us. The house was exceptionally clean, and breakfast was great.

The owners are lovely people. Breakfast was fantastic. Enjoyed tips from the owners and conversations with them and other guests. Great location for walking to town.

A lovely B&B, in a quiet location, with very easy access to all the local amenities. Jan and Ian are lovely hosts, they are both so friendly and welcoming, offering lots of suggestions of where to eat and what to see or do. Breakfast is amazing, with a wide and varied choice.

This was a lovely stay, in a lovely home, of lovely people. Jan & Ian were the loveliest of people & it was a joy to spend the first morning of 2025 with them. The room and facilities were great. The place was spotlessly clean. Jan and Ian were very helpful with my questions. I would highly recommend Havenlee Homestay.

Hosts were warm, friendly, and welcoming. Lovely home with beautiful gardens. Our room was very private, exceptionally clean and comfortable. Breakfast was wonderful with cold and cooked choices. Even gluten free bread! Hosts gave us valuable travel advice. Location was very convenient to town, brewery, restaurants, beach and all conveniences. Would highly recommend.

Our first stay in a Homestay. Lovely Ian and Jan made us so very welcome,making us an afternoon cup of tea,just like home. The house is immaculate,clean and comfortable. We had our own table and chairs overlooking to beautiful garden. Our breakfast was beautifully presented and so much choice. Even had Feijoas,my first taste this trip! The hosts were perfect. We certainly would stay again!

We had a wonderful stay at Jan and Ian’s, such a lovely couple and beautiful bnb! The room is very well appointed, the private bathroom just down the hall has bath and shower and a separate toilet, and they provide robes to go between your room and the bathroom which we found very thoughtful and comfortable. The breakfast was amazing with fresh fruit, home-made toasted muesli (so good!), juice, coffee/tea, toast, jams, and a choice of eggs and/or bacon. It’s an easy walk from the centre, and there are several restaurant options nearby. We spent a day at Karamea from here which worked really well, and Jan gave us great tips of what to do and where to go, both in Karamea and on our way to Hokitika (we really enjoyed our stops at Constant Bay, the Truman Walk and the pancake rocks). We will most definitely stay at Ian and Jan’s again when visiting Westport!

Perfect stay. Lovely hosts. it was nice talking and laughing with Jan and Ian. This BnB was the cleanest we've ever been to and had the best breakfast (fresh berries,fruit, ...eggs and bacon made to perfaction by chef Ian🙂). Havenlee Homestay is a heavenly homely stay and highly recommendable.

Hosts were welcoming, friendly and generous. The house of the homestay was spotlessly clean. Comfortable bed and spacious bathroom, with separate toilet and shower room. Everything provided. Fantastic breakfast options and dietary requirements catered for. Easy parking right near the front door. We highly recommend this homestay.

Havenlee Homestay should be called Heavenly Homestay because that was what it was. Our hosts, Jan and Ian, were charming and made us very welcome. The facilities, cleanliness and breakfast were all fantastic but it was the attention to detail that impressed us the most. It was a real home away from home. Highly recommended!

The breakfast was beautifully presented and delicious. Homemade museli and ginger spiced rhubarb a real winner. The bacon and scrambled eggs were very tasty and a fabulous way to prepare for my traverse of the Lewis Pass. The cleanliness and comfort first class. Easy parking immediately outside. Both Jan and Ian warm, friendly and helpful. They are very welcoming.
