The Northumberland Arms

The food and service from the servers/hosts was excellent throughout. The waitress (with the nose piercing) who served us breakfast on day one was particularly pleasant and a delight to converse with. The restaurant and bar area had a good vibe too, and the bedroom was a good size, with a large modern en-suite. The bed was comfy too.

The arrival greeting from the male bar staff member was not particularly enthusiastic. He wasn’t any different when we collected the key on our second day either. Although the lady (owner?) who checked us in was very pleasant throughout our stay, as were all other staff members.

Good and varied breakfast, freshly cooked to order, generous portions, attentive friendly service. Lovely room ,huge freestanding bath and separate shower, tea, coffee and fresh milk. V comfortable bed!

The staff are friendly and helpful. My husband was doing the GNR and needed an early breakfast- they kindly organised this for him. It’s a lovely place to stay - the food is great and the rooms are very good

Lovely location. Restaurant was lovely also, however the access up steep stairs were difficult with luggage. However overall, a very enjoyable stay.

Lovely village location, close to a number of places to visit. Room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable with great pillows. Service was excellent and all the staff were pleasant and happy to help.

Given the hot weather it would have been great to have a lighter weight duvet.The hotel did provide a tower fan in the room but it was quite old and very loud.

It was during a really hot spell, the fan provided was old and the window was painted shut which made the room hugely uncomfortable

Nothing really, everything was great. The stairs leading up to the rooms can be a bit steep for some - wasn’t a problem for us, just something to be aware of.

We received a very warm welcome on arrival from the staff. We were shown to our room and provided with the dog basket and blanket. It's great being able to bring the dog with us for meals etc. The room was very spacious and comfortable. We felt that our every need was catered for. The breakfast is amazing, the food is very high quality and beautifully presented. There is also a lot of it! The location is also lovely - lots of paths to walk the dog and close to the A1 / central for all the good tourist spots. Many thanks to all the staff and Trevor, who was definitely the host with the most, helping us out to the car with our bags.

Delicious and plentiful breakfast - The Proprietor/Chef enquired as to how we liked our breakfast - a nice touch! The large room was spotless and fitted out very well - LOVED the bath in the room, a treat!

We stayed in a Bamburgh castle facing room. It was extremely comfortable and spacious and well decorated. The shower did not have any water pressure and was disappointing.

The raidiators in the room really needed bleeding. They were the only bum note in the whole stay. I love this place, definitely coming back

The room! Very expensive, window propped open with a shampo bottle! Very dated will never come back despite the food which was lovely!! Very expensive but I would never come back!!

Excellent stay. Spotlessly clean, lovely atmosphere, great food and excellent staff/service.

The avocado sourdough was - by far - the best I have ever eaten. The chef included seeds, olive oil, sundried tomatoes, fresh tomatoes and sprouted seeds. Superb. My partner said his full English was fantastic, too.
