Didn't stay in the rooms here, but came down twice in a week from the Belmont area to enjoy the food, drinks and sand. The staff here is always smiling and the reasonably priced food is good. The bartender let me sample a few different rums at no charge, and there are more choices of rum at this place than in most liquor stores in the U.S. Ask for any international brand and they probably have it! I'm planning on visiting again...
Visited Keegan’s, now named Gracie’s for lunch with friends. The service all around was terrible. Each one of the team members blaming the other for mistakes and making excuses. Not a single effort made from management to apologize or offer to make things right. Management needs to reevaluate how staff is being, or not being trained sooner than later. Things are going downhill quickly!
The staff are attentive and wonderful!! The beach across the street is the best on Bequia! Taxis are plentiful and can be called by the hotel
We ordered 3 lobster meals at over 100 EC dollars each which we were eagerly awaiting. When the meals came, the lobsters were overcooked and dry. When we complained, we were totally ignored by the waitresses and when asked to speak with the manager we were told that she was too busy and couldn't come to us. Their attitude was not good. They did not charge us for the lobster meals in the end but I will not be going there again.
Had the most amazing time staying in the Sea Breeze apartment at the Keegans Hotel. I had previously only really done day trips from my parents home on the mainland, but it was my partners first visit to SVG, so a longer stay was in order. We arrived early and were still able to get straight into the room as its off season. Whilst the lock was a little fidly to operate, that was the only downside to the air conditioned room. The room was well equipped with plenty of storage space. Our host showed us around the room and how things operated. There is a large bed, sofa, fully equipped kitchen space and dining area. From that, you can get to the bathroom, which features an outdoor shower. There is a porthole in the shower giving views of the sea, and from the shower itself, you can look up at the stars. From the main room, you have two access points to the wraparound balcony where you have great views of the bay, but privacy from the beach area. Both UK and US mains sockets are available, along with a few USB ports. We had planned to split meals between the restaurant and town, but had such good service and food that we ate at the restaurant each day, the only time we ate in town was for breakfast before getting the ferry to the mainland at Maria's, and were provided with a full English breakfast that left a lot to be desired. But back to the restaurant at Keegans. Firstly to give praise to Mel who looked after us and provided recommendations, and also to the owner. We had extremely nice local food from the daily specials cooked to perfection, even when we didn't want to eat at lunchtime, they put aside food so we could eat at our leisure in the evening. It was a weekend so we also got to sample the bbq. Definitely worth another stay, I enjoyed this more than a previous stay at the Bequai Beach Hotel.
Just returned this past Wednesday. Spent only 6 days here. Wish it had been longer. I highly recommend this location. Food and drinks amazing. But the staff that we had were outstanding.A shout out to Glen, William and Melissa. Thank you chef for the curry chicken and roti. I stayed in the Sea spray room, which is down the beach from the main location. Beautiful view, great comfy bed and outdoor shower. Overall, a great experience.
Keegan’s is a perfect beach destination. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. This hotel has everything you need from the rooms, on site restaurant and bar. The views are amazing and the beach is steps away. We will be staying there again.
we stayed here for our second week and due to the hurricane and few months earlier there was damage and builder on site the bad point not breakfast untill at midday and no drinks on offer till everything opened we had coffee on first day then told there dont offer anymore the air con not very good had to get a fan which helped a lot the drink served very fast food once again very slow some people who booked mail had to have it boxed to take away with them due to slowness the beach is very lovely and the bar right next to it. my partner loved to walk along the beach as very quiet. if you like to try different rums the bar offers over 80+.
I went to Keegan's for lunch as it was highly recommended by friends...located on lower bay on the Grenadine island of Bequia on a beautiful white sand beach, nice relaxing area for a seabath with calm waters, a few almond trees aligned the beach for some shade The food was delicious and quite filling...the tuna salad and conch fish cakes is a must try....customer service was friendly and welcoming...a cool place to relax for a rest stop with good wifi, it was quite charming and felt safe...definitely a visit when in Bequia.
Keegans gas grown over the years and its easy to see why- beachside location, good food, friendly service and good prices. The room was clean and well stocked, the semi- outside shower was interesting. Only niggle was the sun loungers, a bit hard and one of them collapsed under me I recommend the full breakfast to set you up for a day of doing nothing
We ate lunch and dinner several days during late February into March. The Saturday night barbecue was great value and delicious. We had super chicken and a first for us; pig’s tail… which was surprisingly tasty and meaty… they don’t serve before 1830 because for pig’s tail its twirly… get it.. too early! It is a busy beach bar and the waiting staff are extremely friendly… but be patient… the kitchen is small so at busy times, there might be a wait.. however the view and proximity to the crystal water of Lower Bay makes for great vibes and tranquility. The sunsets were amazing. Take Fatman Taxis from port Elizabeth… simple de best man!
My wife, two sister in laws and myself went here for lunch. We all shared chicken wings and a salad to start. Salad was decent and the wings were passable. One sister in law had French fries which were OK. Other sister in law had the fried chicken with fries, which she said was horrible. My wife had the cheese burger and fries. Once again Fries were good but the burger reminded me of a very low budget Italian meatball. (50% breadcrumb 50% beef).I had the shark burger. Never had shark before so I just wanted to try it. I guess I probably picked the wrong place to do this. Picture a piece of fish that was pounded down like a chicken or veal cutlet. Dip it in batter and deep fry. All I tasted was the batter. On the bright side, service was nice for island time. Beer's were nice and cold, atmosphere was nice. Would not be going back.
The service the restaurant was awful. It took hours before my order was served. When it finally came it wasn't what l had ordered. The room had not been cleaned when l returned in the evening. Instead of taking cups from the bottom of the stack, l saw the bar tender do the opposite. So his fingers touched the rims of the cups he was using to serve drinks to the guests.
I had a wonderful stay at Keegan’s Beachside Hotel! Everything was Perfect! The location, ocean view room, friendly staff, and peacefulness was wonderful. I enjoyed going to the beach daily, having a delicious breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks. Also, reading, writing, and going for walks. The internet works well and the room has a good AC for cooling down after the beach. The Princess Margaret Beach Trail is walking distance. There are cabs available that will take you anyplace you want to go on the island. This is a wonderful place to stay in Beautiful Bequia. I highly recommend Keegan’s Beachside Hotel. ❤️🏝️❤️
Went to the restaurant only, had BBQ ribs, seasoned rice and pasta salad, had the pudding with ice cream for dessert. Food was good, However food is served on plastic plates. I know they right on the beach but so are many others that serve on normal plates, cutlery was very flimsy also. Prices are reasonable for what it is. Would go back as food was good
This hotel was perfect for us. The price per night was in our budget, and great value considering the location and facilities! There were sunbeds you could use in the day, aircon in the room to cool down, and a happy hour to enjoy watching the sunset (5EC for a rum punch was our favourite!) On our final night we chose to stay and eat for dinner as the hotel was throwing a BBQ beach party with Dj. The music was so good all night and the food was delicious. However, the only downside of our experience was the micro-managing of the owner on the night of the BBQ party who seemed to unnecessarily ruin the mood of the staff, as before they were happy and doing a great job as usual. A special thanks to all the staff at the hotel who made us feel at home, always smiling and were great fun.
We stayed in a wonderful apartment called Sea Breeze. Separate to the main complex up some steep steps so not right for everyone. But right overlooking the water. Moments from Lower Bay beach. :) I really don’t want to tell anyone else about it!!!! So well equipped. Clean. Room cleaned and fresh linens every 2 days. Wonderful friendly staff. Private Plunge pool. Outdoor shower. Nice balcony with chairs overlooking the ocean. Perfect for chilled breakfasts post the morning swim! Really couldn’t fault it.
We spent the first three nights of our ten night stay on Bequia at Keegan's. It is very basic with a few nicks and dings but was clean and comfortable and everything worked, including AC. After spending most days out and about it was enjoyable to return to shower and cool off before heading to their dining room/bar areas (there are two). Even though there was a large party of 18 while we were staying there and may have stretched the limits of staff, we never felt ignored. In fact, when we checked into our other accommodation we returned that night for Keegan's Saturday evening BBQ almost like returning home! We just prefer the ambience of Lower Bay to PM or Port Elizabeth. A big shout out to Sharon, Desrick, Chelsea, Conroy, Juliette and Jeanette. They all provided excellent and friendly service. Highly recommend for those looking for basic accommodations and a chill, kick-back ambience.
The room was clean, staff friendly and it's next to the beach
Keegans is a great option for those wishing to kick back, enjoy the sun and gorgeous beach at Lowe Bay. Staff friendly and eager to please, front desk amazing, wait staff fun friendly and service oriented.
I must stress and point out that we didn’t stay here, we only ate the restaurant. Dreadful service, food took 50 minutes to arrive, no apology for the wait. Food was awful. We asked for bill twice and had to resort to going across the road and pay ourselves, waitress didn’t even really acknowledge us. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
We stopped by after lunch to get drinks at Keegans and had a fun time people watching and enjoying rum punch. They do take credit cards but the minimum is 50 EC. We plan to go back for a meal. Sadly we will miss the next full moon party happening the day after we fly home.
right on the beach with nice restaurant
We enjoyed a full moon evening here with friends. Delicious hog roast & salad, dancing in the street & a bonfire on the beach. Kyron Baptiste & Kleareyes band played for hours & kept everyone dancing. Seating available on either side of the street on a first come first served basis.
This is a bitter sweet review as we had a great evening at the bar and grill. The food, drinks and entertainment were excellent and the staff were attentive and friendly. But our rooms left a lot to be desired. The first room felt like a converted store room with very little natural light. It also shared a wall with the main bar, meaning the noise was unable able. Hence the reason I said rooms! At 10.30pm we were forced to moved due to the pounding base of the DJ we had been enjoying earlier that night. We didn’t want to stop the fun but that riom should not of been sold. We moved to a different room which was slightly quieter, with more windows, unfortunately the curtains on these did not fit effectively, leaving you vulnerable to prying eyes. On waking the next morning it was obvious the room was less than perfect. The loft hatch in the bathroom was half open making me a little nervous ( admittedly too many horror films ). The toilet alway wobbled, the bathroom and drains were filthy and there was a drainage smell in the room. We did not stay our second night and moved to another hotel. I say it is bitter sweet as I know people that have stayed at the Keegan suites off the main site that have had great stays and the bar is brilliant. I would say avoid this place just make sure you have a good room.
Very beautiful and peaceful location. The wait for food service was too long and food portions too small.
Was told that it was booked out
We did not stay at Keegan's but spent a lot of time there drinking and eating as we were staying in Lower Bay and it was just a short stroll away! The location is perfect and idyllic and was our favourite place to spend our evenings. We found the service to be really attentive; big thanks to Kantie and Juliet for looking after us so well. Juliet makes the best Mudslides! The beer is always cold and the rum punch good! We ate there a few times for lunch and dinner. Although the portions were not huge the food was very good. The burgers were fantastic. The garlic chicken and fried chicken also really good served with the best potato wedges! We have great memories of our time there. We missed the full moon party as we had already returned home which was a real shame as it sounded like a good night. Hopefully we will return to Bequia and rest assured Keegan's will be the first place we head to!
The food was expensive
Favourite spot to eat with friends on Bequia especially when sailing. Our last trip the entire party got their food quickly and ate it all. Friendly receptionist and restaurant staff. Will recommend calling ahead to order as this works for me
My friend and I stayed at Keegan's last April (2022). I had the SeaSpray apartment and she took a regular room in the main building. Our stay was absolutely lovely. My apartment was wonderfully comfortable, full kitchen, wifi, air conditioning and my favourites, the wrap-around porch overlooking the reef and the glorious private outdoor shower. Having visited Bequia many times, one must adjust to island time: restaurants cook food to order ... there is no "quick lunch" and that's just fine. Go for the chicken curry, my fave. When I tell you the staff go above and beyond, on our last night my friend twisted her ankle really badly. Even though the staff had already locked up for the evening, they jumped into action, opened up the kitchen, got us some ice and made sure my friend had enough ice on hand to keep it going as she needed. We loved Juliette, our bartender and waitress, and we spent good times cracking up in her company. Thank you to Sharon for making booking easy and we look forward to seeing you again in April 2023.
The beach is absolutely beautiful! Keegan’s was a great place to stay, simple, clean and just fine for what we paid. Nothing fancy and that was just fine!! The staff is nice and when our AC didn’t work they had us move to the room next door and all was well.
I really liked the proximity to the beach. The restaurant was great. The staff was amazing. Would definitely book again in the future.
I love it here so much and will be returning in three months. This is a complete beach life. Sharon, the receptionist goes above and beyond to make sure that your needs are met and that your happy
The windows of the cottage were unique. Loved that there was a screen in place for the windows. There was a dead bolt lock but we didn’t have a key got it. We were given a key got the knob lock but I didn’t feel this was very secure. I would update the locks so one key works for both. We didn’t get any wash clothes. Luckily I brought mine from home we were supplied with two towels for showering and two got the beach. Outlets were all occupied so I have unplug the microwave in order to charge my phone. Loved that the beach was right across the street Loved the hot water! Wow it was just right The toilet is very close to the wall in front of it. I had to sit sideways. The king size bed was very comfortable
Close to lower bay
Beautiful rooms at a great rate. Food was a little pricey though but was good. Beautiful and relaxing atmosphere! Kid friendly. My toddler loved the beach and staff.
Amazing location!
The location is superb! Literally steps away from a beautiful white sand beach, simple but clean accommodation and friendly staff. Sharon the receptionist was exceptionally professional and welcoming, we truly felt like valued customers. Keep up the good work Keegan's!
Beachfront was great but rooms were awful. No air next to kitchen very noisy.
Sweet and simple, but one doesn’t need much more on this idyllic island. Right on one of Bequia’s best beaches, and central to everything. Staff were particularly welcoming. Though there are a few fancier places to stay on Bequia, I’d happily return to Keegan’s.
Great place with friendly staff right on the beautiful beach. Only problem will be in finding an open room.
I was in the Cinnamon room, and although the room was ok it’s proximity to the kitchen was unacceptable. I asked to change rooms and staff did offer me an alternative which was next door to the cinnamon again not acceptable. I was reimbursed for one night as I could not stay in the room another night. I must add that Staff were helpful and friendly.
It was a nice clean apartment, great location and the staff were great.
Attention to clients needs, smiles on the staff faces, prompt service.
I loved the location! It is literally right across from the beach. The room was clean and spacious. The food and vibe were good and the staff very helpful.
Just got back from 7 days and I can highly recommend this place. It is right on the beautiful beach in Lower Bay, easy walk to the market, the staff is amazing. We were in one of the cottages and they were clean and very pleasant. We will be back again.
Nice grounds, right next to the beach. The beds were rock hard, sheets rough and staff could have been friendlier.
,The most beautiful beach we have ever seen beautiful lovely special
Rusric Caribbean hotel eith a great bar right on the beach
Across the street is the beach. Only nice thing I can say.
In general, Bequia is a beautiful Island, no matter where you stay, you are bound to be content with the natural beauty around you. Keegan's beachside is a bit far from the port so you have to take a taxi, walk to a bus, or take a trail between 2 beaches. We booked a room with 2 twin beds to accommodate 2 adults and a child, they did not have a room available so they added an extra bed in what was originally a room with a single bed. The room was very cramped and difficult to get around. Furthermore, the staff did not alert us of the situation beforehand, nor did they offer us any compensation for the unexpected changes. Also, the rooms have European outlets, and they not have any travel plug adopters. On the other hand, the staff was polite and extremely friendly, and the room was clean.
Great beach spot for a base to explore Bequia. We rented a car and went all over the island, but this was one of the best beaches...along with Tony Gibbons ( aka Princess Margaret beach). Loved this spot!!!
the customer service was excellent... check-in was with ease no stress. got to my room & the cleanliness was off the charts... i even stayed an extra night, we purchased food and it was perfect... my overall stay was awesome i had a great time in bequia.
Had an amazing time
Queen bed was two beds pushed together that were not the same height so sleep was uncomfortable
Ideal location right on the beach (Bequia's).."Interesting" place to stay, rooms very clean and comfortable if a little basic but as described.Staff wonderfully friendly, cheerful and helpful Food however was very disappointing - tried several breakfasts, lunches and dinners - meagre portions, always cold vegetables, much of the barbecue night food was also cold, pork chops nothing but bone and fat. Service incredibly slow. While it is taken for granted that everything moves at a much slower pace on Bequia, this was slooow. even though the place was not at all busy.Just don't think the cook cared! Also worth noting that number of visitors apparently falls off quite dramatically early March the place went very quiet while we were there. This coincided with what we were told was a seasonal wind which blew for the 10 days we were on the island. And it is a very strong wind - some nights we thought the roof was going to come off! Unfortunately Lower Beach (where Keegan's is located) seems to bear the brunt of it and the beach on some days is virtually unusable unless you want to be sandblasted. (Strangely, just around the corner Princess Margaret beach was largely unaffected). Would we go to Keegans again? Yes but we would eat at other places nearby where the food choice and presentation was vastly superior, better quality...and warm!
Sharon was extremely helpful and good to deal with.
Great stay and lovely food. Relaxed vibe and helpful staff. As an aside the local taxi drivers have the best names.
Nice hotel by the best beach in the island. Good location and transport link by taxi or walk up a steep hill( not a problem) to catch the bus( dollar van) to most part of the island.
Great accommodation right on lower bay beach. Really friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant menu is a bit limited but maybe it's off season and it will change for high season. The Saturday night BBQ is good value also the Friday night happy hour! Lovely sitting on the bar/restaurant deck over looking the beach. We were in a studio room, very comfortable, good air-conditioning and good bathrooms. Proper shower with very hot water! Beach towels supplied and beach beds available for hire. Some snorkelling off the beach towards Port Elizabeth. Walked back and forth into town, it takes about 30 minutes each way but it's a super walk and will soon be enhanced when they finish mending the board walk from Princess Margaret beach to Port Elizabeth. Would highly recommend Keegans, have no complaints at all with this hotel.
Travelled as lone single female. Lovely room spotlessly clean room (Hibiscus). Refrigerator and towels provided. Felt totally safe and comfortable. Steps from the most beautiful beach. A few mosquitoes dealt with by the hotel providing mosquito coils to burn. Would advise taking scentless mosquito pellets with you if you don't like the smell of the coils altho' the coils did a great job. Food fine. Lots of other local places to eat if you choose not to eat at the hotel. Hotel has a lovely beach bar with great breeze and relaxed vibe. Would recommend without hesitation.
We were able to check in and go right to our room, with a great view of the beach. We had to check out the next morning, but we were able to leave our things with the office so that we could enjoy the beach for the rest of the day until we had to catch the ferry.
Great place. The staff and food where awesome. Very clean. Would definitely stay again in the future.
We stayed for one week at Smith's apartments which are part of Keegans. The "Sea Spray" is a spacious one room apartment on the upper floor with balcony and view of Lower Bay. Full kitchen (not stocked), wi-fi & tv, an outdoor shower and a comfy queen bed. Daily maid service. Owners live in the main house adjacent to apartment.
I saw so many good reviews prior to booking this hotel but was very disappointed with my experience. Beach- The hotel is across the road from a beach but this beach is rocky and there is a big dip not too far from entering the water which is not comforting for non-swimmers. It was extremely windy during my stay thus causing what was described as otherwise tranquil waters to be rough with a strong push to and pull. There was only one small area I could find where there was not the big dip and where the sand felt firm. The beaches in the town were much better eg Princess Margaret although you have to put up with the presence of yachts. Location- The Lower Bay stretch is down a steep incline which is nicknamed "heart attack hill" and is literally not for the faint of heart if you desire to walk during your stay. Be prepared to rent a car or hire a taxi. Food- There is variety in the menu but the portion sizes and sometimes taste left a lot to be desired. Also not very healthy as the only sides offered with most meals were fries and rice even during dinner.Cocktails here and on most of the island was very disappointing. Amenities- The hotel has beach loungers but you have to pay $10 EC a day for one. This was not stated on the website and I had the impression that it was included as part of staying at this hotel. Room- NOISY and SMALL especially on karaoke and live entertainment nights. The room was right next to the kitchen and behind the reception area. Not soundproofed.
Quiet spot on the beach
Stayed at Keegan's for 2 nights to celebrate our first Anniversary. Service wasn't bad at all, food was good but the room needed some updates.
If you want a place to stay that is reasonable in price, on the beach and has great service, this is the place. From check in, to food and beverage service, to check out, we were treated with superior hospitality. Thanks Juliette for the great service.
Great location - bar and dining on the beach. Friendly staff, friendly locals, good food.
Stay was incredible. Food a little pricey and my only downside was the previous guest was not out of the room by the time we were ready to check-in. Other than that, no complaints. The staff was very friendly.
The peace and quiet of this small hotel is remarkable. There were no barking dogs, crowing roosters, or noisy pubs blasting music that I experienced elsewhere in the Caribbean. There was only the gentle lapping of the water on the lovely white sand beach in the front of the hotel. This is a reasonably priced hotel in good condition that I can recommend.
Right on the beach and a short walk from St. Margaret's beach and the town. Definitely Coming back !!
The hotel was great, the people were friendly and we had and got everything that we wanted and needed.
Lower Bay is peaceful this time of year because of the off season. I prefer it that way but, the downside is that there are few taxis or vans that venture to Lower Bay. My overall stay was nice and the food was delicious and fresh. The only negative thing I can think of is the lack of hot water on my first night. The problem was fixed by the next evening.
