The view. The view. The view. Amazing atmosphere. The relaxation came so easy. Did I mention the view was phenomenal? I would love to make this an annual spot.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay, however there were a few disappointments. For example, even though we Booked weeks in advance, we were given a room with an adjoining door and could hear the neighboring guests. We asked to be reassigned, and luckily there was one room left in the King building. We were very disappointed that there was no in room fridge since we had food and beverages that needed to stay cold. Not sure that we would return, but will most likely look for a nicer hotel in Cambria. To end on a positive note, the sunset was gorgeous.

Decent and average for a resort. The interior and exterior were clean but both could use a fresh coat of paint. The location is great and we enjoyed the room facing the ocean, which had a breath-taking view.

Had a bad feeling when driving up to the hotel - it didn’t look like a $500 per night room hotel. We checked in with a lady named Roxy - she was great. Our breakfast was good but not included in the over priced room we had already paid. The room was terrible: carpet was not clean, bed and pillows were very uncomfortable, rust between the tile and tub, no body wash, the coffee machine exploded when we tried to make a cup- most likely because it had not been cleaned since the previous guests, the bottom of the slider door was filthy and furniture was dated. VERY DISAPPOINTING! We were celebrating our 50th anniversary so didn’t mind paying $500 per night. Now we’re stuck with such an awful memory. Would never recommend this hotel. We should have just left but we knew we would not get a refund since we paid in advance. We won’t ever pay in advance again! I should have taken pictures - my bad!

Location is stellar, Atmosphere is very good. Rooms are clean and neat and have a lot to offer. (our stay was a premium ocean view). It is a good value, noise level is fine, pets are allowed so you may experience a little barking from time to time. Loaded with amenities, room service needs improvement however the food is good.

Terrible food and dirty and way out dated room. unfriendly staff. zero recommended. and will never stay there again. pictures are very deceiving.

Amazing view

The location and view from our room was amazing everything was clean and bed was comfortable. Unfortunately to be honest they need to do some upgrades to the rooms. I would definitely stay there again though!

Very nice facility with a good restaurant. All hotel staff were friendly and incredibly responsive to questions, concerns or requests.

The location and views were excellent. Great view of the ocean and right on the beach. Nice seating areas and fireplaces on the beach.

The room smelled and was dirty and needs updating.

Room was very hot even with the windows open. No air conditioning the fan was going to denil. The view was wonderful, stayed in room 178, the room was clean staff was nice. The food in the kitchen restaurant was good there's a step or curb right outside my room. Straight ahead that I fell over did not see. It did not get hurt this muscles. Pulled needs to be painted yellow they've been coming to this hotel for 30 years with my dogs.

We had a short family vacation planned and had not ever stayed in San Simeon. We were more than pleasantly surprised to find your hotel and restaurant. Your staff in both areas gave the highest guest experience. The facilities were a surprise and very much appreciated, pool, fires in the evening, direct access to wonderful beaches. We will be back!

We love The Cavalier! I accidentally booked the wrong room type (deluxe instead of Premium) but it turned out OK. The premium is a bit more quiet and is more oceanfront but it was super nice! Cambria/San Simeon was pretty crowded this weekend but the resort didn't feel crowded! The staff was always super nice and the room was clean and in really good shape.

Booked for our 40th Anniversary celebration. Incredible experience and a wonderful hotel. Very welcoming, helpful and friendly staff. Well maintained facilities with numerous guest centered amenities. Beautiful Beach and easy access. Will definitely plan a visit to the Cavalier Oceanfront Resort again.

We celebrated our 35th anniversary here and the best part was having a room facing the ocean. The bed was comfortable too, which was great. The room itself was very average. The tv was unable to show Netflix or Prime, the furniture was cheesy and the sliding glass doors were very foggy; either dirty or had permanent moisture so it was hard to see the ocean through them. It felt like a 3 star room for 5 star prices. We were, however, very happy to be able to bring our small dog.

The location was great as well as how dog friendly the resort was…and no additional cost for my pets! The resort had many friendly dogs which was great! The sight of the ocean was awesome as well.

I wish more parts of the grass was green. It’s understandable due to the drought.

Location, location, and location with a great view of the Pacific! Room was spacious, clean and comfortable for the price. My wife and I loved it. Front desk staff was very helpful, and friendly. All we heard was the soothing noise of the Pacific Ocean.

My little girl and I come once a year for my birthday. The staff is lovely . the view is gorgeous! The rooms are cozy, and the on site restaurant is convenient.

Great location, on the cost, the ocean view is from all rooms, rooms are huge with the terrace. The Great Place to enjoy time near the ocean, great value for money. Restaurant is on the site, very convenient, with a big variety and good food. Very friendly staff. Regret to have just very short stay.

Good location on the beach. Lots of facilities. Had its own restaurant for breakfast and dinner. Good to book a table in advance as it can get busy. Room was spacious and had a patio or balcony. Staff good. Coffee facilities in reception.

Hotel dated and in need of upgrades, pillows were not comfortable, room was 87 degrees when we got there, and because there was no screen on the door you had to shut it in the night thereby heating up the room again.

Wow, the ocean front rooms are nice. Big bathtub shower combo, that would have been hard to access if you had any mobility issues, but the room and the view was amazing. No AC in the rooms, but the cool breeze off the ocean was great at cooling the room off unit it was bed time. The bed was comforatable.

We have stayed here a few times in the past, but we will never stay here again. Upon check in, they moved us to a room directly over the pool. When we made this reservation in May, they had assigned a room away from the pool. When I told the person at the front desk what room # we were promised, I received a very rude, "No, this is the room you get" This property has definitely gone downhill. Grounds were brown and full of stickers, not great if you have a dog. The fridge door was barely functional. The fees were pretty high and we were not told about a $100.00 incidental charge to our credit card.

Pleasantly surprised with the quality of the experience. Definitely get the “bed and breakfast “ deal because otherwise the restaurant seems overpriced..

Overall, I thought it was a great place for good family time! The pool was fine, the room with v a view was good, and the restaurant was a great bonus.

The hotel is good, and feels clean, and the staff is friendly. We had a great experience at the restaurant for breakfast. There is NO AC at this hotel. I'm sure it's rarely needed, but our room was oppresively warm even with the provided tower fan, and the humidity with no AC airflow also makes the room smell a bit damp/stale, but that is common for beach hotels. The location and proximity to Hearst Castle are fantastic, as are the firepits in the evening. I wish we'd had more energy and time to enjoy them. Had we not been troubleshooting for making the room more comfortable, we we likely would have.

The rooms are very outdated. The mattress was old,hard and like sleeping on the floor and the pillows weren't much help. There is a wood-burning stove that sits on a layer of bricks which are the same color as the rug and pose a very major tripping hazard. The refrigerator is unusable because it is full of products for sale plus it constantly had a pool of water in the bottom of it. So you could not keep any of your leftovers from the restaurant especially since there wasn't a microwave to reheat anything. It appears to give a very nice resort feel and the restaurant is convenient but the food was only mediocre and expensive. But I guess it's the location.

Not being there before it would’ve been nice if someone would have directed us to the correct building. Roxanne at the front desk was wonderful, but the drawing of where to go was not quite the complete direction. I think a self member on a golf cart should directed is over by going in front of us and then helping us with our bags if needed.

Location is amazing and super dog friendly. Easy access to the beach and fantastic views! Super close to lots of great hiking spots and downtown Cambria. If you stay on the top floor and it’s really windy you might hear loud noises caused by neighboring guests door slamming when their balcony is also open which can do the opposite of help relax.

Great location right on the beach. Love how dog friendly it is. Such a calming place. We go with our two miniature schnauzers over the 4th of July every year.

Ocean view rooms great! Nice restaurant staff Nice workout room. No good common area bathrooms. May seem trivial, but for a resort, one expects bathroom options outside of room, especially after long car rides and needing to “go” during the check in process. Restaurant bathroom very small and awkward.

I wish employees at front desk had better hospitality . The room had a musty smell and it’s not possible to get rid of the smell because it was no window in the room and sliding door doesn’t have a screen .

It is a lovely place that welcomes dogs. This is a huge Plus for us. The views are magnificent. The grounds are also beautiful. The restaurant on site is a big positive and the food is good. Highly recommend this place.

This is not a fancy "resort" which was fine by us. Very casual and comfortable. Dog friendly and fireplaces in every room which we used both nights since it went down to the low fifties and we wanted to leave the door open to hear the ocean. Again, the restaurant is good, but not fancy. We had dinner and breakfast there. Servers were very friendly and the food was good, portions great. The resort is less than 10 minutes from Hearst Castle and the beach where the sea lions hang out. Great place to come chill, not have to get dressed up and enjoy the beautiful sights.

We always enjoy our stay here. Professional and pleasant service from ALL the employees. Maria Vargas, Marisela & Gretchen at the Cavalier Restaurant are always a treat to see. They are so friendly, attentive & pleasant. The food is savory, fresh, & offers a great menu selection. Cooked to perfection. The cooks are awesome!! Anthony at the front desk always provides exceptional service with a very friendly attitude. He's a superstar with customer service. A great example for all! This place is relaxing, convenient & clean. Looking forward to our next stay :)

Although the resort is aging, it is a wonderful place to stay! VERY Clean, all the toiletries you need, mini-bar and snacks were plentiful! Right on the ocean and lots of roaming to be had!

Fabulous oceanfront hotel. The room was very comfortable and the views were amazing. The gym had modern cardio equipment and weights. It was nice looking at the ocean while exercising. The restaurant was excellent, with a nice selection and reasonable prices. We highly recommend Cavalier.

We love this treasure of a hotel along PCH and have been coming for over 10 years. They have very kind staff, great in-room fireplaces, and amazing coastal bonfires. They provide all of the wood to keep it all going and burning all night! A perfect place to make s’mores and meet new friends as people are always traveling up PCH and stop over at this property. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Overall always a wonderful experience!

Lovely beach hotel with charming style! Rooms are right on the beach, fire pits at night, pools, and a surprisingly good diner. Would reccomend!

hotel staff are great location is great! Beds were very comfy. The restraunt food is just average. The wait staff was not on it. There were 2 waitresses who were very friendly and good. But there was a very tall l larger build woman who was rude and kinda nasty we witnessed her using her hands to clean out her nose several times. And not wash them. She was not our waitress. Ours had very short hair and was really good. The restraunt could use a deep clean there are spider webs and thick dust on the window seat areas. The hotel was very charming , fun activities on the bluff for the whole family , and fire pits lit every night before sunset, will definitely be back and refer our friends. Just won't eat there again.

Beautiful location with a stunning sunset, very clean and comfortable HOWEVER the resort is desperately in need of updating. I was expecting so much more for the £359 for one night that we paid. Cracking to bathroom tiles, needed painting and old furniture and carpet. Dark and old fashioned feel to the whole resort. Very disappointed. Could be an amazing resort given the stunning location, I would not recommend.

Location right on the water is great. Nice outdoor space and small well equipped gym. Fire pits in front of oceanfront rooms had smoke coming into room till after midnight, couldn’t open balcony doors which was a necessity without AC. Rooms could use updating. Good bed.

View and location were incredible. The room is a bit dated but otherwise clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed the location and close it was to Hearst Castle. The view right from the hotel was beautiful, and we loved walking on the beach right in front of the hotel.

This was a return family trip to Cavalier Oceanfront Resort. We discovered this overlooked gem a couple years ago on a family reunion trip for New Year's. We are so happy with hw generous and helpful the staff are! The pool and spa are great. It's so fun to have amenities like oversized chess and checkerboard outside to play around with. The fog on the beach is beautiful and the fire pits are so relaxing. All of the staff were wonderful and so helpful. The bar is great. The food wasn't amazing and there aren't too many dining options in the area, but everything else is awesome. Great stay.

We stayed there for our wedding anniversary and experience was absolutely amazing including rose petals, champagne on ice, wonderful view from our balcony and the chimney for a magical evening 🙏❤️

Loved the VIEW beachfront location, the walking path, having a restaurant on site, all the activities such as big chess & checkers, and especially loved the fireplace in the room!

The shower pressure was light & the shower drain was clogged. took 20 min for the bathtub drain to clear after a shower.

Great stay!! Roxy was great at check in giving an overview of the property and explaining all the amenities. Rooms were nice, bed was good, and if you book an ocean front room the view is amazing. Fire pits were great at night and it’s always nice having a restaurant on property.

We chose Cavalier Oceanfront because we had stayed there about 20 years ago and remembered it as a beautiful property. The photos on the website also gave us the impression that it had maintained that same appeal. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. The grounds appeared poorly maintained, with brown landscaping and overgrown weeds throughout the property. Our room had a noticeable musty odor, which made it feel less clean and inviting. The biggest disappointment was the ocean-view room we paid extra for; our view was largely obstructed by a tree, making it difficult to enjoy the ocean scenery we expected. Based on our previous stay and the current website photos, we had much higher expectations for the property.

Die Lage direkt am Strand ist sehr schön. Mit zwei Pools und gut ausgestattetem Fitness-Raum ist auch für den Ausgleich auf der Reise etwas gegeben.

Leider liegt das Hotel sehr weit außerhalb, wobei die ganze Gegend eher wenig bietet. Das Frühstücks-Restaurant fällt vor allem dadurch auf, dass mindestens vier Damen an jedem Tisch erscheinen. Das Frühstück selbst ist auch für US Verhältnisse eher nicht gut. Der Check-in war auch eher formal und wenig freundlich. Die Zimmer haben die besten Tage hinter sich.

Loved the view. Loved the restaurant next door. Our view was obstructed by the pool. We were in room 161. They had nothing else available at the time. But other then that we do enjoy it there.

What I did not like was they had no microwave in room. Or they had none to offer.

The view of course. The rocking chairs on the balcony. The close by lovely path down to the beach. The employees at the hotel and the restaurant, all uniquely interesting and warm friendly people. Loved the feeling of solitude and wide open ocean vista.

Would like to have an option of two queen beds or two full beds in the ocean bluff rooms.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend to friends and family. The views were stunning and the overall atmosphere was very relaxing and laid back. They also had delicious cookies at the front that they gave us when we arrived. Super friendly staff.

Beautiful view, perfect location!

Our room had many issues. The Front Room Door had screw holes in it from where the old door chain track used to to be along with the old door handle location which was replaced by a modern door handle lock card mechanism. The lower portion of the door had a lot of paint scratched off of it and was a very big eyesore-not what we were expecting for a close to $300.00 a night room. In addition, the toilet had issues with the flushing mode. Sometimes it would do a complete flush and other times it would not. The sink stopper was stuck in the up position and the stopper piston was immovable. The night room tech arrived and said he works housekeeping normally and would not be able to fix any of the issues. Also, when I took my first shower the water didn’t drain properly and eventually piled up in the tub covering my feet. When we checked out I bought these issues to the attention of the “Director of Operations”( I forgot to get her name) and she seemed disinterested in my experience. She did give us a partial credit but my point in talking to her was to get all the issues resolved so no other visitors would have to go through with what we experienced.

Ocean views are great; fire pits are a nice touch; food at restaurant quite good; close to area attractions and town of Cambria; Resort and rooms need maintenance and updating; pool and spa equipment not working properly; furniture stuck in the 70's; during evening and night room filled with smoke from fire pits and other room's fireplaces.

I loved this place! We did splurge and get one rooms with fireplaceon the bluff, and kept our window open a crack to hear the waves crashing all night. Talking to a friend who has also been to the Cavalier, our first thought was "old school, but in a great way". It feels like a place you can settle in, with the wide lawn and firepits. The minibar in the fridge, bathrobes, soaker tub. All felt a little luxurious, without feeling cliche or dated. The rooms I am sure were built in the 70s/80s, but had been moderinzed. I think I remember a few people talking about a room smell in reviews, but I recognized it right away as firewood, reminded me of house smells growing up. The other thing about this place is how nice the staff are, and how much I feel I was important to them. The buildings are not beautiful looking ,but all of the small touches made it feel more like a luxury getaway without a luxury price. The only downside was the Coastal Kitchen. It had a good ocean view, the staff were great, but the food was rather ordinary. As good as the rest of the resort is, I was expecting something a bit more elevated. Still a good choice for us rather than driving, and a decent wine selection. But overall, this is a fun place that will relax you. Bonus to some - it is also very pet-friendly, so expect to see a few dogs. It was not a problem for us, never heard any barking, but some may not like that.

This is a great location on the beach. The fridge and snack were fully stocked. Beds were comfortable and staff super friendly.

We came for our mom’s birthday and to see Hearst Castle. Very disappointed in the quality of the hotel versus the amount of money we spent to stay there. Coffee machine, fridge and tv didn’t work in our room with no microwave.

The hotel is a GREAT dog friendly hotel. The rooms are clean but do smell a little bit of smoke since wood burning fireplaces are in each room. If you have allergies it could pose a problem but it was fine for me. The rooms are a little noisy as you can hear your neighbors, but with the crashing waves outside the door, it's not too bad. I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to travel with their pets.
