Great views, food and staff!
This is a very good property located next to the ocean. The room was clean and spacious. My overnight stay was very short so I was not fully able to visit all of the hotel's facilities, like the restaurant, but it was very beautiful and seemed very nice to me. The room was very clean and there were nice amenities. The bed was fine.
We loved our stay here and would love to return. The room was comfortable and clean, the staff were friendly, the beach was spectacular and not crowded, the restaurant was great.Overall we had a great stay here and will return.
Beautiful peaceful small boutique hotel right on the beach with excellent staff and good restaurant. Would definitely stay here again
tremendous hospitality, very friendly staff, a hidden paradise, wonderful artwork everywhere on the property, my expectations was exceeded by volumes, a must visit !!! and the food was out of this world, yum yum and yum! the only and I say only downside, if you are prone to sand fly bites, they'll get you, bring repellent ..... I will visit again absolutely !!!
Beautiful, scenic, the decor is splendid and the staff is amazing.
Rooms were nice and very clean. Resort was beatiful, grounds well maintained. Beach groomed every morning. The staff were amazing. Very accommodating. Sammie will help you find everything and John will take you there safely with a smile and a story. You can even stop for local lunch is you are feeling adventuresome. Andrea, Wendy, Ariel, Rachel, and everyone in the kitchen and bar will make your day better. Food was excellent FRESH FISH EVERY DAY. Being from the Midwest this is a ++. Shout out to Tyrone and Eldridge for helping fix a dead shoe. You are all the best. M & M
First of all, let's get something out there: please do not go to La Sagesse expecting it to be some sterile Hilton or La Quinta plopped on a beach. It also is not a Starbucks or McDonalds. This place, perhaps uniquely, is a stalwart of what the REAL Caribbean beachfront hotels were...and still should be..but mostly are not. It is a diamond among rhinestones. We stayed in Ted's Room. The a/c was so efficient we had to turn it down. It was superb. The bed was 100%. The shower worked fine after we figured out to turn the hot water up all the way FIRST then add cold water. The staff are the best I have encountered in all my years of international travel, and I treat them as fellow travelers, not servants. The beach never had more than a dozen people on it in a week of good weather. Mike has something really special here, and we will be coming back as long as we can. As for the restaurant, Mike invited us to see the fish just brought from the market which I later that day had as a meal. Marlin is tasty! Go here and find the true definition of "laid back" without slackness.
A gem of a place! I can't say enough great things about La Sagesse. If you are looking for a relaxed, laid back retreat on a beautiful beach, with great swimming, great food and wonderful people, and a place to unplug and relax, this is the place you want to be. While the other side of the island is fairly busy and touristy, La Sagesse is a place apart and a rare find. The owners Mike and Lynn, and Sammy and Caroline were incredibly warm and welcoming as were the entire staff. The dining room and rooms are all right on the beach and lovely and food is great. There are options for different walks, as well as great swimming. We look forward to returning, joining many regulars who have been devoted guests for decades.
We were staying at an Airbnb 5 minutes from here so thought we’d try it for an evening meal. So glad we did. What amazingly tasty food and the welcome was so warm. The shrimp and goat curry were first class and desserts were absolutely delicious. Would highly recommend anyone to come and try this place out. We will definitely be back on our next trip to the island
Visited La Sagesse last week on the strength of a couple of newspaper and magazine articles reinforced by reviews such as these here. Happy to endorse comments made by others regarding the warmth of the reception given to guests by the owners and staff. The beach is beautiful - everything you might imagine (although the backdrop now being rather spoilt a bit by new development). Swimming great but a bit of caution advised as the breakers are huge and powerful. Cooking pretty good but restricted and unchanging menu - a real shame.
Beautifully situated hotel Staff were exceptionally friendly , helpful and welcoming They were able to handle my last minute request for accommodation change without fuss. Room was serviced nicely each day We tried to organise a small fishing expedition but although they put a lot of time and trouble were unsuccessful at finding a local. Not a surprise really, but they did try very hard If fishing is important then make your own arrangements in advance This is a quiet hotel on a quiet safe beach Very sheltered. Very chilled. Down a long lane and about 40 minutes drive from St George’s, best visited if you have a car Restaurant food was better than many, always good fresh local fish and specials on offer Not gourmet standard but competently cooked and reasonable prices Especially enjoyed the banana flambé for desert
A wonderful "get away" location. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The restaurant has a great view and fresh delicious food. The staff are engaging, kind and provide great service. The beach front location is wonderful.
It's the 3rd time we come to this little corner of paradise and we will be back! We love that it's right on the beach, with stunning views from everywhere in the property. The restaurant is very good and the staff is wonderful! It's quite secluded and we appreciated the calm and serenity of the place.
We have stayed in La Sagesse for over a week. We can say this has been the most welcoming hotel we ever stayed in. The owners, the staff , Sammie all have been so nice and the hotel felt like coming home. They are trying to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Nothing is too much. We stayed in the cottages with a terras and a fantastic view to the beach. The sound of the tree frogs and the waves will send you to sleep in the evening. The restaurant is very good, lots of different things to eat. Almost every day there are specials, which keep changing and last but not least. Very affordable !!!
Words cannot express how much we loved this wonderful little hotel. It is a fabulous little gem and well deserving of all it's awards. Thank you to Sammy and her team, all of whom made our stay truly special, relaxed and happy. They really couldn't do enough to make our stay exceptional. Fabulous food with fresh fish and specials every day, the best cocktails we've ever tasted and all in a paradise-setting.
Very relaxing, quiet hotel with lovely beach
La Sagesse is a lovely spot on the earth. The surroundings are so beautiful. The rooms are quite basic, but are roomy. What makes this hotel stand out is the staff, owners, and restaurant. We enjoyed getting to know some of the staff, particularly Caroline and Samantha, and we were there when the owners had come for the season. They are lovely people and we enjoyed a walk with them one morning. They shared info on the area, the farming, and general info. about Grenada. The restaurant is to die for. The food was outstanding. We were only staying two nights and ate our breakfasts and dinners there. The fish of the day was barracuda when we were there and it was so delicious. The view from the restaurant is gorgeous. You are just feet from the water and it just added to the wonderful dining experience.
Wow! This is the perfect destination for relaxing, enjoying the wonderful atmosphere and stunning views. The food is tasty and varied. The staff are very friendly, helpful with great knowledge and recommendations of places to visit. The comfortable rooms come with the added bonus of NO televisions to distract you from the beautiful island. I would definitely recommend this small and personal hotel for anyone wanting to recharge and escape from the bustle of a busy lifestyle. Being in a remote area, a car hire is also recommended
Need Ac was looking forward to that ( ocean 1)but it nice friendly clean, and one thing need to improvise in the room in a way to call for room service it is listed but just does see how to reach out …I can hardly recommend the hotel for couples to relax and be away from everything and just have them selves.
Spent a week here with my wife and our 8-year old son, on the occasion of our wedding anniversary. Could not have asked for more. Sammy, the manager, took care of every detail, even ones we'd not thought of. She arranged for prompt pick up from the airport, and then showed us vacant rooms that we might prefer over the one we'd booked! We went with an AC room, good call. She said by next year, all rooms should have AC. In either case, all rooms we saw were clean and well appointed (thanks housekeeping staff!). As it was our anniversary, Sammy worked directly with me "behind the scenes" to arrange for some surprises for my lovely bride, including a bouquet of island flowers and bottle of champagne delivered to our room whilst we were swimming in the bay. She enlisted grounds keeping and housekeeping staff in the caper - thanks all of you, perfect! The grounds were lovely, all you'd want out of a quiet Caribbean retreat. Paved walkways, palm trees, orchids, bougainvillea, etc blooming everywhere (thanks grounds keeping staff!). The beach. Mostly we had it to ourselves, and yes they actually do clean the seaweed from it in the early morning. It was gorgeous. The water warm, the waves gentle. Sorry, not much snorkeling opportunity but oh well. The restaurant. Look at the menu. Fantastic, well presented and well prepared. Every meal was grand. We ate most of our meals there, were never disappointment. Recommend catch of the day. The curried shrimp - and the rum punches - were otherworldly fine. Breakfasts rocked! Thank you kitchen and wait staff! Grenada - we mostly visited places in south Grenada, by bus or by cab. (Boney is the best cab driver!). So many things easily accessible from LaSagesse, you can have a cab sent to the gate or walk 10 easy minutes up the road to the bus stop. To summarize, this wonderful retreat is absolutely your best choice, if you like it laid back. The grounds, facilities, rooms, food, beach - all top notch. And all people on the staff were so very kind, smiling, and helpful. We'd herd stories about the original owner and that he'd been a wonderful host. He's retired now apparently, but gee whiz he seems to have left it in the best of hands. Sammy and her staff are extremely professional and good and what they do, and wonderfully helpful and kind. Felt like we'd made friends during our time there, and can't thank them enough! PS - try riding the local busses to get around. Much cheaper than cab, and every ride a new adventure!
Oh my! This is the Carribbean as it used to be, and nothing could have been better. No ritz, glitz and snobbery. Little more than a dozen rooms, ours had a/c which was delightful. All rooms are 50 feet from the lovely beach. Beach chairs, paddleboards and kayaks for guests of the hotel. And the meals - all wonderful with local fish and yummy desserts. But by far the staff was the most attentive and kind we have experienced in years. We at most meals here, venturing out for a few hikes and luncheons. Lobster stew, coconut bakes (breakfast) and chocolate mousse were tops.
Quiet - good beach, very friendly staff - limited menu
Perfect. A true get away from it all place. Ultimate relaxation and calm beauty.
This is a very secluded property. If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet, getaway this is a great spot. There is a bar and restaurant on site. It's not an AI. The menu is smaller, and doesn't change, but the food is very good! There are only 12 rooms in this resort so it's very quiet, the water is calm, and view is amazing. Some of the rooms do not have air conditioning, so if that is something you need be sure when you are reserving you have the right room. Our cab driver that works mostly with this resort was AMAZING! He took on our tours, and ran errands to get food, and liquor for our room. Ask for Anthony! And have him give you a tour of the island. He's so very informative, and smart and we learned so much from him. We loved this trip and it was a totally different vibe for us, and the way we normally travel. The owners were very nice, and manager Sammy was great too. I recommend it.
Let me set your expectations...this place is an older facility but wonderfully maintained and run. It is clean and has really all the basics and more than you need - access to the calm bay water, a restaurant on site, grocery store at the end of the road, cleaning and laundry services available too, plus most importantly - the bedrooms have a/c. The staff are friendly and helpful too. They have many repeat customers that come back for years. This was our first trip and highly recommend this lil gem. The only thing missing was shampoo and conditioner - which they're supposedly going to install larger dispensers in the showers. We stayed in 2 different cottages and both were equally fine - one had a king bed and the other a queen. The restaurant offered a variety and the food was good and consistent.
How can one have anything but good things to say about a room within yards of the softly breaking waves on the white sandy beach? A comfortable room with no distractions of TV, phone or A/C but with ceiling and floor fans (only the ceiling fan was needed) and a view to die for. The front desk staff, kitchen & bar staff, and the attentive owners made it a great experience. For those looking for an authentic island experience instead of a bland hotel this is your kind of place
Lovely property! The beach is amazing. The room was sparse but comfortable, absolutely loved the covered patio basically on the beach. No air conditioning so might be hot in the summer but perfect for our January getaway, loved hearing the sound of the ocean all night long. The restaurant so great, catch of the day was awesome, best swordfish ever, but could be limited if staying several days. Loved that the property was away from the busyness of st George. Staff was all very friendly and felt like home. Glad we had rented a car because it is a bit away from things.
La Sagesse is a hidden gem on the east coast of Grenada. With only 12 rooms facing the beach and the bay, it never gets crowded and allows one to fully relax and unwind. Staff, led by Sammy, the property manager, are exceptional in their approach to relaxed and friendly hospitality and were very helpful in making our stay memorable. Highly recommended.
This resort is absolutely wonderful. The rooms ,dining facilities and beach are fantastic. The setting is beautiful. What makes it superb are the staff, the general manager Sammy and the owners Mike & Lynn. Resorts like this are hard to find. If we had not wanted to experience and get to know the whole island, we would have only stayed here. Thank you all, Vino & Lionel
My wife and I had been to Grenada 5 times before but wanted a change of pace. I couldn't have been more right; it changed MY pace. The setting, per my wife, is "other-worldly". The beach is Caribbean and you can go out 75 feet and not be shoulder deep. The room was spotless. The bed was very comfortable. We never did figure out how to get the hot water right, but eh. The kitchen was incomparable. As an example, they made my fish 'n chips with TUNA. Ever heard of that? Neither had I and it was unbelievable. It isn't near the airport. It isn't near anything except the very best place to completely unwind I have ever experienced. We went there and did basically nothing for a week and I'm still unwound from it. One thing: PLEASE do not bring big-city attitudes or expectations here. Let the staff do their magic at their pace. Note: I have never given any hotel 5 stars before.
The hotel was quiet and off the beaten path. The beach was very close. Tue restaurant and bar was clean and welcoming. The staff was super nice and extremely helpful. The only negative - NO A/C.
I stayed at La Sagesse for a couple of nights in July 2023 on my way back to Europe. It was perfect - no TV, no A/C, no radio. Just the sound of the waves breaking on the beach just a couple of yards from the beach and the chirping of tree frogs at night. Fly screens in the windows and 3 ceiling fans plus a floor fan ensured a comfortable temperature in the large and clean rooms. I was there during the off-season when the hotel was nearly empty, but the staff was attentive the kitchen/bar was fully operational. This is a great destination for those looking for something relaxing and quiet and out-of-the-way with a great beach.
Really nice bay, kitchen cooks are amazing with delicious food and the environment was low key and calming
Lovely stay
I enjoyed the large garden en-suite, the well appointed gardens, the proximity to the beach and sounds of the surf..I recommend highly:
Friendly staff, lovely beach well maintained buildings. There are only 12 guest rooms giving a nice relaxed feel to the place.
So just from the get go - we didn't stay at the hotel or eat at the restaurant. However we came across the rude "security" from the hotel on the beach. Saying hello after we greeted you, guys, won't break your backs. This island is full of smiley, cheerful, and welcoming people, so such a huge difference in interaction always flabbergasts you. And now the beach itself: are you kidding me one of the top 10 beaches of the Caribbean?! Really? Only if you've never been anywhere else! The top 10 best beaches of the Caribbean are all in the Bahamas (probably 7 of them on Eleuthera). It's NOT white sand! Grey at its best. It has some yellow and black sand. It's extremely dirty. I'd recommend the owners of the hotel to tell the rude security to collect the trash on the beach instead of grumpily strolling on it. There are even pieces of sharp glass lying here and there. Grand Anse beach is so much better! The rude security guys are the reason we didn't even check out the menu at the restaurant. Train your staff properly.
For the fifth time in six years (painfully interrupted only by COVID in 2021), we had the good fortune of spending a few weeks at La Sagesse Nature Center in February 2023. Despite some unfortunate construction projects now encroaching on the tranquil and serene bay and its precious animal habitats, this remains my favorite spot on earth; I like to refer to it simply as Paradise. Through trial and error over the years, we have found our favorite room, the Ocean Front Suite, where we are staying again this year (and we have made a reservation for February 2024 already). Meanwhile, the delightful staff has become family; they care for us and pamper us to a degree that is is almost embarrassing: Mike, Lynn, Sammy, Eldridge, Caroline, Anesta, Rachel, John, Subrina, Curly Anne, and many more. I have commented on this marvelous and precious place before; I hope that our snapshots will speak for themselves.
This family owned small hotel excels at treating guests as friends. You can have total peace and quiet or you can join with meeting other like minded couples from around the world. The hotel is special because it is small with only 12 special comfortable bedrooms which have their own bathrooms and in many cases their own beach view shaded deck. The family and staff always have a smile on their faces and the service is quiet, thoughtful and always top quality. Mike, Lin, Sammy and Eldridge run a hotel that gives you those ‘special moments and memories’ that you will not receive at any of the larger hotels. The beach, which is only less than 10 metres from the buildings is heavenly white soft fine sand and there is plenty of shade to sit or lie down to soak up the sounds of the gentle waves lapping the gently sloping beach. A balmy 26C when we were there last week!! There a few kayaks & paddle boards if you want to explore. Snorkelling is best closer to the side shore of the bays where there are rocks and coral. Taxis to airport are easily arranged by staff and you will want for nothing except some good books to read. The catering first class with a wide choice of fish, meat and salad and vegetarian options. A good range of drinks and cocktails are also on offer all day. This was a truly memorable holiday that we will try to repeat in years to come.
Beautiful place, sweet people, excellent food.
The hotel is small eco friendly on a beautiful safe protected beach. Very friendly staff. Excellent food and service on island time. Very comfortable beds in airy clean well appointed rooms.
Love the very friendly staff and the secluded space. So picture perfect! The food was also very good!
Loved the friendly owners and team! Our cottage was perfect and the beach nearly deserted throughout our stay. The hikes behind the property were also gorgeous! Thanks M&L!
Need a place to get away from the world this is it. The staff is amazing, they make sure you have everything you need at all times. Already made plans for a return trip!
Lynn and Mike are amazing hosts along with all the other staff. You are about 20 - 30 minutes away from the main action in Morne Rouge or Grand Anse if that is what you are looking for. But for those looking for a great Grenada experience this is the place to be. The wireless internet is blazing fast which is good because there are no tv's in the rooms. There is only one unit with AC so be prepared. Overall a super place with no negatives to speak off. The beach and water is very good and is shallow a good ways out. Food in the restaurant is excellent and very reasonably priced. Say hello to Tom the bar tender. Enjoy!!!!
We had a wonderful vacation. Fantastic service and unbelievable amenities. Would recommend this resort highly. And we plan on returning.
We had an amazing stay in La Sagesse. We booked for 2 nights but extended for 6 nights! The staff are very kind and we really felt like we were at home! A lovely beach and great restaurant. We highly recommend.
Phenomenal hospitality, I was treated like family. I spent the day on the beautiful beach with wonderful cocktails and catch of the day. They dealt admirably with Covid-19 disruption /curfews /restrictions.
This is our third time staying at La Sagesse, and would like it more each time. The beach is exquisite, the dining is excellent, the grounds are beautiful, and the staff are warm and friendly. What’s not to like?
Tranquil-relaxing a great location to relax and enjoy
The location was amazing! The rooms were very spacious and the service accommodating. The restaurant at the hotel was reasonable and the cooking was done in perfection.
Beautiful location. All staff very friendly and welcoming.
I loved everything about this location, resort, beach and the people.
Beach front, peaceful, accomodating. Can improve on ammenities such as, a.c, food options
So peaceful and other worldly beautiful. No crowds, no noise other than mother nature's own.
Beautifull setting far away from the crowds , yet close enough to get to any turisty places if you long for some action. Place is managed in excellent manner.
This is a perfect place to rest and relax. Quiet, beautiful location. Clean, comfortable, well-appointed rooms, very spacious. Good food. Great beach. Friendly staff couldn't have been more helpful. A gem.
This place is a little secret place of paradise! It can be the most simple quiet peaceful relaxing holiday or you can venture out to some amazing sights too!
I really enjoyed staying here, it has a great location and the beach is lovely. It is a shame that the nature reserve is no longer there, but still a lovely place.
Food and drinks superb.Loved the nutmeg accent. Beach in close vicinity
Few hotels can boast a staff that is both friendly and professional. The La Sagesse staff walks between both without missing a beat. After a full day of travel, and being first time guests, we were greeted by everyone already knowing our first names. We began feeling at home that first afternoon, a home we settled into for the next 10 days.
We booked to stay here following day visits on previous holiday. The cottage was lovely, big verandah, sea breezes through the windows at night, comfy bed. The restaurant serves delicious food and makes great coffee which the owners told us they import specially. The massage was great after a long flight and very reasonable. The beach if fabulous although if there has been a swell then the water is a little weedy for a few hours. The accommodation is not cheap but if you want somewhere to chill out for a few days, this is ideal. We were told the hotel is having a facelift during the low season so will be even nicer next winter.
We were recommended la Sages from friends who stayed there some time ago and we really loved it! The beach and the view where like a dream and it was really no problem with no airco, nature took care of that! Smart with the windows on all sides so the wind could blow through!
Great beach. Wonderful sleeping to sound of the surf. Quiet out of the way location. No crowds. Need a car or must hire a taxi to go anywhere else for meals. Food okay not great. Accommodations are bit dated but comfortable. No A/C but with ocean breeze and ceiling fan we were comfortable. Pre arrival questions were answered and an airport pick up was arranged and we were met despite arriving 3 hours late. In summary, if you want a quiet out of the way place on a beautiful beach rather than the hoards at Grand Anse, La Sagesse (pronounced with a soft g), is a very good choice. My wife just added that the staff was very accommodating and the place very relaxing.
Quiet and rustic resort located on a picturesque bay with a nice beach The hotel staff were very friendly and the onsite restaurant provided good meals
Enchanting atmosphere, beautiful location, lovely staff.
We had a wonderful stay. The beach is beautiful, and our cottage was private, breezy and with a gorgeous view.
Wonderful stay. If you want a place to relax and do as little as possible, you couldn't find a better place. 1/2 hour from St. George so you can still find things to do when you've tired of having the beach practically to yourself. There's a right-of-way to the beach so things get very slightly busier on the weekends. Great food, attentive staff. You'll need a taxi or a rental car to get here. The hotel can arrange for a taxi to collect you.
A truly wonderful, secluded, truly Caribbean hotel. Felt perfectly safe, well looked after and peaceful. Only gripe would be to open breakfast earlier than 8am, and ensure a consistent wifi if possible. An Excellent stay! 100% recommend.
A small ~12 room hotel with three styles of building all basically directly on the beach. A bit quirky in a fun way, generally very laid back with a friendly on-site operator/owner. - Clean and generally up to date rooms (appropriate 3-star rating). - Hotel has a very good ocean view restaurant/bar on site that is good value. - Surrounded by nature/ocean it is very quite and remote feel. - No AC and afternoons can be a bit buggy outside, but rooms were well screened and had both ceiling and standing fans.
This hotel is a gem on the island. The staff is unbelievably kind and helpful. The food at the restaurant is fresh and delightful. You feel as though you are a part of the family there as the owner and staff get to know you and will do anything to support your stay. The beach is lovely and very friendly for swimming and lounging. Nearby you can hike and enjoy nature sounds. The rooms are scenic and quaint although rustic. It goes along with the vibe of nature and simplicity. All rooms are right in the ocean so you can enjoy the ocean sounds all day. You are a bit away from the major towns but the hotel can area get for taxis to get you around. This is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the calmness of Grenada!
La Sagesse Hotel is set just a few feet back from a gorgeous beach. It is breathtaking from the moment you arrive. It is located pretty far from most of the other populated areas of the island, so it’s perfect if you want a secluded getaway. Because of its location, we ate all but one meal at the hotel, which we didn’t mind since the food is delicious. They use only locally caught fish, so you know it’s fresh. Also, the rum punch is tasty and strong. We stayed in Julie’s Room, which does not face the ocean. We didn’t mind it since we didn’t spend much time in the room and our days were spent on the beautiful beach. The room is spacious and it was cleaned daily. The bed was extremely comfortable and we slept like babies after a long day out in the sun. There was no A/C in our room, but we slept very well with the fan on, and the whole area gets cool enough with the ocean breeze in the evening. The hotel provided big beach towels for us to use every day. They also provide beach chairs, boogie boards, and kayaks for you to use. All in all, it was a perfect week full of relaxation and we hope to return. PS. The cat and dog pictured are the resident pets. They were so friendly and well-behaved.
Has to be one of the most beautiful locations in the Caribbean. Simple style, friendly helpful staff and a good chef.
Very friendly staff, and quick to respond to our requests. The only downside is the restaurant menu, but that's just a matter of personal taste.
