The Iona Heights Inn

Location off the highway was good with beautiful views over the water from our balcony. The restaurant/pub was a great spot to eat and relax with some local entertainment.

Was disappointed in the cleanliness of the room. The windows and balcony doors were not clean which really detracted from the beauty of the view. Dusty floors.

The view was wonderful. The pub was quite adorable and the staff were very friendly. The management was extremely helpful.

The area in previous days had experienced terrible flooding and the roads were a mess. So many detours, dirt/gravel roads. The breakfast buffet could use a little improvement.

I get a noisy neighbor doing party at midnight，the wall is not noise proof at all. And my family’s room has a strong moody smell

Bathroom needs desperate work. Reasonably clean given rotting trim and poor quick paint job. Overall there appeared to be a hasty renovation that was aging badly.

Everything was wonderful. Everybody was friendly and we had the best wings we’ve ever had!

Prinzipiell tolle Lage, allerdings sahen wir von unserem Balkon primär Baumwipfel und nicht die Bucht. Livemusik im Pub war wunderbar.

Das Bad benötigt eine Überholung, vor allem die Wanne. Zudem war es oberflächlich gereinigt - überall schwarze Haare der vorherigen Gäste. Wir kamen von der Fähre, waren völlig übermüdet und wollten deshalb keine Beschwerde abgeben.

We absolutely loved our stay! The view is truly breathtaking, both during the day and at night. The location is privileged, surrounded by the spectacular beauty of nature, and we felt very lucky to be able to experience it. The staff were incredibly attentive, kind, and welcoming. The breakfast exceeded our expectations, and the leisure facilities — including the pool, sports court, gas fire pit, and gym — were all very well maintained. The owners were also wonderful. They responded to our messages very quickly and were always helpful whenever we needed anything.

The only area that could use a little extra attention is the cleanliness of the room. It was not dirty at all, but there was some dust and a few cobwebs in the corners and underneath the furniture. A little more attention to these areas would make the experience even better. There is something especially nice about arriving somewhere that isn't your own home and finding everything perfectly clean and fresh, so you can immediately feel comfortable and at ease.

The bed was comfortable. The view was fantastic and the location great.

The lighting in the room was inadequate. Difficult to sit at the desk to read or fill out papers. The TV reception was terrible. Never could get a program going as the icon would just spin. Internet was very sketchy at the best of times. The room was dated and could use a refurb

We did not like the Google map directions, traveling east on 105, directed onto Orangedale Rd then Orangedale Iona Rd (dirt roads) came to route 223 (saw a sign saying the ferry was not operating) which turned out not to be correct apparently. As it turned out we should have stayed on route 105 to Aberdeen and crossed the ferry at Little Narrows. It would be great if Inn could give travelers a heads up to the best directions (ferry crossing) and paved roads.

Location, ease of check-in and check out, and it included a continental breakfast.

The property overall was good and we would stay there again.

The total charge of $199 (taxes included) for one night was a lot for the level of quality of the room.

We didn’t eat breakfast so I don’t know what to say .Any way the hotel is excellent and quiet place to stay.I can recommend this to people fr them to stay .

Camera molto bella e spaziosa, luminosa e con un bel terrazzino vista lago. Letti molto comodi. Staff accogliente e gentile. Posizione della struttura ottima. Ottimo il pub/ristorante e molto comoda la presenza di un supermercatino in loco.

La tranquillité des lieux, la vue exceptionnelle sur le lac Bras d'Or, la bonne humeur et la serviabilité du personnel sont les éléments les plus marquants de l'endroit. Centralisé, mais quand même avec de bonnes distances à parcourir, l'établissement est au centre des attraits du Cap Breton : Forteresse de Louisbourg (coup de coeur!), cabot Trail (si vous aimer faire de la route en Cross Country!), Sydney, etc.

Honnêtement, pour que ce soit parfait, une petite table de salon pour y déposer nos consommations et autres items face au divan, aurait été apprécié. Sinon, tout était très bien.

The stunning view from balcony, the quiet location and peace. The fact that on the property there was a pub/ restaurant and a convenience store with drinks, snacks and alcoholic beverages was a big plus.

If anything, a little refreshing in the units would take it to a new level.

Sebbene rinnovato da poco abbiamo trovato dei peli nelle lenzuola. Lo staff ha prontamente fornito un cambio di lenzuola.

Heel vriendelijk personeel; prachtig uitzicht; speelveld voor kinderen; leuke pub met op donderdag quiz-night - we hebben ook meegedaan; direct naast Village Highland museum - over hoe Gaelic sprekende Schotten ooit naar Cape Breton kwamen. Kamer met balkon met uitzicht op het prachtige meer.

Nou ja tegenvallen, het weer is nogal wisselend - dus tegen bij aankomst - goed weer de volgende dag. Ik vond wel het bed wat aan de smalle kant voor 2 personen.

An error between Booking.com and the hotel meant I could only stay one night. Handled very well but disappointing I could not stay longer.

Very cute room, great view of the lake. The kids enjoyed the basketball/pickle ball and the pool and we enjoyed the on site pub. The beds were comfortable and the A/C worked great.

Breakfast isn’t included ($13 per person and it’s just a continental) and there isn’t much in the area other than the hotel.

It was not a huge thing but it was a little bit isolated, with adequate amenities. However, that's the allure of our east coast life . The roads were scenic and our drives to all points were beautiful.

The staff and owner are great people ! We had everything we needed ! The location is beautiful and quiet. It was central to all the sights as well ! It was like having a cottage in Cape Breton!

Had a deck with a great view of the water. Lots of electrical outlets in room. My husband liked the extra shelf space in the bathroom. The pub attached to the inn had delicious food.

I didn't like that we couldn't stay longer.

The location is excellent, and the views are fabulous. The rooms have been renovated; however, the floor could benefit from a thorough vacuuming and cleaning. Additionally, more lighting in the room would be advantageous. A refrigerator and microwave are provided, which is quite helpful. Overall, it was a good stay.

Highly recommended for ferry travelers! We stayed in a corner room with a balcony that had a beautiful view looking out over the lake for miles. It’s a perfect, convenient spot for taking the North Sydney ferry the next day.

The views and location of this hotel was incredible. My bed was comfortable and the staff was kind and helpful. Food and drink was good.

The breakfast was not included and cost is $11 per person. Not a big issue, but i did not realize it wasn't included until after I ate, so I wanted to pass that info along.

A really good place to stay, especially good bar and restaurant providing delicious food and great entertainment. Would definitely recommend

Cool concept with the irish pub, trivia night. Very good food. Room was great with the upper balcony. Basketball hoop was an added touch.

The bathroom was absolutely disgusting. The tub was so dirty that I hated to try to take a quick shower at all. I took pictures of how bad the tub was. If I wasn’t so tired from the drive we would have went somewhere else but in the miserable weather we just decided to eat & collapse in exhaustion.

You can’t beat the scenery. The beds are comfortable and the rooms were clean

This place was a great surprised. The location is prime for views. The room was good (it could do a little tlc) but the overall experience outweighed the minor details). The kids enjoyed the play area and available games. The staff was super friendly to make sure we were comfortable. We loved it here. We went the second week of October with the fall colors in full bloom.

The location was beautiful with a view of the water, and so peaceful. The buffet breakfast was an extra charge, but it was totally worth it. Staff was wonderful, there was a great selection of fresh food, and we were very satisfied. It was easy to check-in, we had time for a drink at the bar before closing (9pm), and the staff were super friendly and helpful.

The staff were very warm and friendly. The attached pub had great food, service and atmosphere. They have a regular pub night that we were invited to participate it. Views from the pub and room are excellent.

We were in # 16, and it wasn't clean. The sheets were all wrinkled up on both beds, and I don't think they were changed before we got there. The bed skirt is ripped on both beds. Baseboards were all dusty. Deck was slippery with mildew if it was at all damp. Light between beds was loose at top and hard to turn on. The wall behind the desk is dirty, I assume from someone's feet. Window frames are covered in mildew. The room definitely needs attention. It is old, which is fine, but that doesn't excuse lack of cleanliness!

The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. It would be good to have a soft chair rather than the one hard metal one. The restaurant was good with a nice brunch buffet. The view from the balcony was spectacular and the location next to the Highland Village was perfect.

There were no comfortable chairs to sit and watch TV.

We had a lovely meal with live music before sleeping very well in their comfortable beds.

The bath had yellowed anti-slip strips that made bathing a little uncomfortable.

No chairs (wing chair type) so we had to sit on the bed. Would have liked a radio too. We were hoping for live music as well...There were spider webs full of dust in several places on the ceiling, otherwise it was a nice clean room. The heat pump was very loud, made noises all night, disturbing our sleep. But during morning coffee and packing up to leave-it was quiet!?!

We stayed one night at this hotel. The location is gorgeous, with a view overlooking the lake!! Beds were comfy. Dinner in their restaurant was delicious! It's basically in the middle of nowhere, but still well worth the stay!!

Beautiful view and friendly staff. Restaurant on the property has good food and full bar. We were there on a Saturday and there was live fiddle music! There is also a small convenience store/alcohol store on property which is very convenient.

There was room for improvement about cleanness. The baseboards and floors were dirty (it was mopped at some point, who knows how many days before) to the point my friend did not take her shoes off and skipped the morning shower. We have pictures. The staff was friendly but busy and all she said she would speak to the cleaners.

We enjoyed the accommodation and cleanliness of the Iona Heights Inn. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The pub has delicious meals, and the hot breakfast buffet was the best experience of our trip.
