Beautiful old inn with traditional touches .
We had asked for a king bed but got 2 twins . However we were late to book and the inn was full.
There was so much care put into this property. The decor, the food was excellent and the staff are friendly. Great thrift shop and bookstore a short walk away.
Beautiful setting Upscale dining Comfortable beds Attention to detail and tradition
I would have liked to have a kettle and tea cups in my room.
An amazing old house with character and history. The staff were all friendly and helpful and food at restaurant was great and reasonably priced.
We stayed in a room with two beds. The sheets were amazing but the mattress was tired and uneven. Also, there were no accessible/available outlets to use. There were at least 5 lamp fixtures in the room but none worked bc there was no place to plug. It in.
Restaurant needs some help. Dinner was bland, Breakfast was interesting. I waited for over 15minutes to be seated. I took it upon myself to find a table and a menu. There were only 6 people in the dining room yet I waited for an hour for 2 eggs and bacon.
Inn itself is old and in dire need of repair
The rooms were not cleaned properly. Cobwebs in every corner spider webs on the ceiling wallpaper peeling water stains around the windows. Definitely mold issues!
cleaning of room. cob webs and a spider, and a dead fly by sink in bathroom.
The evening meal we purchased separately in the dining room was excellent! Some of the best we've had on this trip. The front house was beautiful. If dated.
Historic building in interesting town
Felt like the Inn was stuck in a time warp. Our room was full of pointless ornaments, stuffed animals and dolls, with out of date decor, overly floral bed linen and lacy drapes. No coffee making facilities in our room apparently because it's an old building... Dining room similarly cluttered and dated. Breakfast service very slow with odd tasting coffee. One waitress covering multiple tables and checkouts. Needs a total refresh, with simpler furnishings.
Great people great location wonderful setting
It’s a lovely heritage property with lots of history in the main house. The dining room is terrific, and the food was excellent. And the staff is top notch
It is getting quite old and obviously difficult to maintain. But I applaud the owners for continuing to provide part of Sackville history.
Location, property and antique decor, cute 2-bed room with private bath, dinner menue, accommodating host and staff.

Good location, clean and nice staff
The decoration in our room was a bit creepy, we would have preferred to not have the doll, but everything was okey

What does it take to get your attention? WE NEVER SAW THIS PLACE! It was CANCELLED because YOU overbooked it!
Main house living area and dining g room lovely
Our room was in the guest house. Most uncomfortable beds, so soft you slid sideways onto floor. Blinds missing slats, had to use a towel for privacy. Had breakfast the next morning. One hour after seated we finally got our food and the place was not crowded at all
Location was convenient. Room was clean
Lots of Knick knacks. I felt they were understaffed
This was a charming large Victorian mansion, furnished in period style, (over)loaded with decorative items. No fault of the facility, as I should have expected this, but definitely not to my taste
Old charm country inn with great food
the style of the place and history of it
the kitchen was closed
It is a meticulously restored historic inn and kept well maintained with an amazing view of the marsh.
Breakfast was delicious but luxuriously long. Good thing we were not in a rush! Staff was excellent.
Lovely young woman checked us in, but put the charge through a second time on my Visa. Had already been paid when booked online. Luckily, the next morning on checking out, the mistake was discovered and quickly rectified.
Delightful country Inn quite charming, the main house and a carriage house. It was a comfortable stay, big fluffy beds, and an old-fashioned bathtub with feet
The girl at the desk didn't know what she was doing. Gave us the wrong key, had no idea of recommendations on where to eat or what to do in the area. The hotel is filled with "stuff "...too much stuff and these creepy antique dolls everywhere. Freaked us out.
The historical experience. Friendly staff and peaceful location.
Electrical setup outdated for charging and overall operation.
Close to town, beautiful garden
Older property, spiders in rooms and facilities
Everything. Beautiful location. Amazing experience.
Everything was perfect.
Traumhafte Liegenschaft.
OMG!!! Love love love!!!! So beautiful and quaint. Dog friendly and amazing staff
The room was larger than usual and the bed was very comfortable Friendly staff goes beyond expectations!
.....?
Room was beautifully decorated. Lovely dining room and garden. Easy walk to downtown and restaurants and Mount Allison University. Tasty cooked breakfast at the Inn.
Squeaky hinges on bedroom door. Bath tub drain a little slow.
It's a very historic and charming house. The rent is a bit low, but it's very clean and quiet. They have a restaurant, which is very convenient for breakfast. Highly recommended.
Well, that was an issue, there was no Breakfast
It was very hot in the room with no apparent was of cooling besides leaving the door to the hallway open
The inn was a lovely place, full of character, including the gentleman at the front desk. He was helpful, engaging and advised us on dinner, which was excellent.
Our breakfast took over an hour to be served. Once we received it, it was amazing, but it looked like they were either short staffed, or had one too few people to help out. If you have the time, though, have the breakfast! Our omelettes and French toast were great!
It's some kind of a Victorian house. The main ground floor looks impressive
We were told that they are pretty full and so we could either get a room with AC or TV.... and the first room that we were shown was some kind of a makeshift room above the garage with sloping ceiling which we said NO. Then we were given a room on the 2nd floor with a portable AC that was very loud. The tub drain was clogged and the older gentleman came up with drainex and did try yo plunge it. Apparently this problem has been happening for a while room 32 so be aware if you get this room. So inspite of booking well in advance because we did not book with them directly we feel we got a cold response. Will not stay here again.
We felt like we were coming into a living museum. It was beautiful. One family having run this hotel for over 100 years in the same place. Felt like we were becoming part of Canadian history. Upon walking into the foyer there were what could be considered working artifacts on the walls in the parlor, everywhere in the hotel. Considering when this hotel opened Queen Victoria was on the throne, it was amazing to see that many of the items that would have been around throughout the centuries, yes centuries, were still there. It was like stepping back into time, which we found charming and comforting. The Marshlands Inn is a hidden gem! It should be supported and can and preserved as such. In Europe this hotel would be a centerpiece of a country. Even our room in the carriage House which we coined the delft room was a walk-through history. Not everything is shiny and new, but each nick and scratch tell a story of some kind, both large and small. It was also an incredible value! We'll be talking about the Marshlands Inn for quite a while and telling our family and friends about it 🙂
There was nothing that we didn't like. There were some inconveniences, but in the grand scheme of things they were very small and inconsequential.
It was in a good location, a short walk to restaurants. The room was comfortable and clean. The outdoor area was large and had chairs for relaxing on a nice day. Dog friendly.
No coffee available in the room. We could get coffee after 8:00 am for an additional cost - we went elsewhere. The dolls around every corner are a bit dated and creepy. This might have been a top level inn in the past, but is now in need of some tlc.
The property was lovely and the staff were very friendly and helpful We had breakfast in the dining room and it was delicious!
Unfortunately we were not able to open our window for fresh air. The window that would open did not have a screen. Our room still was comfortable for sleeping. I believe they were putting in the Air conditioners the next day
Historic, quirky….great value !
Nothing.
The breakfast for a minimal charge was excellent. The dining room and set up was fantastic. The staff were friendly and helpful. The Inn is a grand old historical building. It is worth staying there just to experience the grandeur of the past. The gardens were lovely.
I found the room a bit busy. Lots of ornaments and fake plants. I was okay with it, but I am more of a minimalist. Lots to dust for the cleaning staff. It was immaculate though.
There was no promised breakfast. Posted hours were 7-10am. At 7:30 no one was in the office kitchen or do I g room. We gave up on breakfast at 8 when those conditions had not changed.
The sheets were cleaned with a very strong scented soap. Made breathing difficult
Location perfect for our needs...a very quaint period inn
Nothing comes to mind
Amazing period mansion , was astonished it was so gorgeous..great breakfast too!

Beds were too high, too heavy comforters, slats missing in blinds didn't keep early morning light out. Very small mini fridge on floor which should have been raised even if it was raised 8" would have been helpful. The antique chairs had too small of a seat area, the desk was super small, poor TV reception, No coffee/tea maker in room, non in main area either. Hallway smelled very musty. Not a place for persons with mobility issues. We were booked for 2 nights. Stayed 1 night and got a refund for the 2nd night. Definitely not for us.
Very cozy
Really enjoyed the history of the Inn, dinner was very good and our room was cozy.

Kein Frühstück
We loved the old-fashioned character, decor, and beautifully kept grounds. We liked being able to park far from the street. And it was great to be within easy walking distance of the marshlands trails…
We would prefer a firmer bed. The bed that we had tended to slope in at the edges a bit like a hammock.
Immaculate interior decor and lovely gardens
Found the management a bit disinterested They need to invest in more staff
Breakfast time was later at 9 am so I never had breakfast there
Small room smaller beds then I booked , I blame booking.com for false advertising. Very disappointed
There was no breakfast available. Spent a LOT of time looking for somewhere to eat.
noisy heating/cooling. Shut it off. Bus tour was expected so no breakfast available.
Staff was friendly and helpful. excellent breakfast; accommodations were clean and comfortable. very accessible to main highway.
Staff were accommodating and personable.
loved every minute there but IM a fresh air freak and could not open a window with out being eaten alive. Didnt get a chance to eat in the beautiful restaurant but maybe next time.
The building are very charming, and the gardens are beautiful!
Beautiful dining room, food was excellent!
No hot water in shower
Nice and cozy room, very close to the city centre which was amazing!
Ventilation was not perfect, but not a problem since it was fall
A 10 minute walk to Mt. Allison! And 5 minutes to a great coffee spot and multiple restaurants. Beds were comfortable and the staff were great
The Inn is a little dated and the room needed more outlets.
It is a beautiful century b n b in a lovely setting and well appointed.
The rooms were not equipped with coffee facilities, something we are used to and which we missed. It has limited power outlets due to age which is likely why.
Convenient location. Quiet.
Antique decor. Too many dolls and silk flower arrangements for our liking. Musty smell.
The history. The house has maintained its old world character. Plenty to stop, read or view. It is right on the main street.
We had to wait at our table for nearly 2 hours for the delivery of a very basic breakfast. There was only about 10 people in the reastaurant. Spoilt what was a nice relaxing stay in this historic house. I'm
Quaint, historical, location
Room cluttered, small fridge on the floor? Small square china cabinet with 3 items in it beside the small fridge? Rocking chair location in front of tv? Victorian standing doll on the floor beside floor lamp? Bathroom very clean other than cobwebs at end of floor radiator. Floor carpets had not been vacuumed in room when we arrived. Glass top on top of table between beds had not been cleaned.
Good location
Two small single beds. The dated fixtures and decor are kind of creepy. Has gone past being quaint to just plain weird.
Its quaintness. And location

-Arrived in evening a property looked very -attractive, -pleasant relaxed reception. -very historic, much of the decor matched the era. -lovely dining room (wasn’t offering dining) -2 spacious sitting rooms on main level tastefully decorated in antique furnishings. -lots of parking -wifi A lovely sitting area on spacious veranda. -antique bed in our room. Comfortable but we felt it would be cramped if we were taller. Ok for an overnight stay. -all rooms where the door was open we could see were all unique.
Room was compact, located up 3 flights & no elevator No TV Room given to us was very small & was told toilet was located in the room. Offered an alternative room slightly larger (still small) that had Tub & no shower.
Beautiful Victorian home
Stairs, separate beds, no shower no breakfast
An historic building with heaps of character and history on display. Clearly a mecca in its heyday. Loved being in the main building. Friendly host and convenient dining area for breakfasts and night dining and lunch if desired.
How homey the rooms were and how beautiful the property was.
Need to have a drop box for keys(maybe had but didn't see it) as office was not open when I left.
Parking was good. Restaurant for breakfast was very nice, atmosphere was super-a bit slow for service, but food was simple and freshly made. Our room was very comfortable and clean.
Check in staff rude..acted like we were a bother. Insisted we pay additional $23cad for room cleaning. Told us breakfast included from 8a to 10a..next morning.. No one at front desk at 8am.other guest had to ring bell n staff who checked us in (older man) finally came out with bath rope on..No breakfast ready for any of guest..did not say sorry no breakfast ,just took keys n waved bye. Other couple from Ottawa we met at check out were very disappointed too..The decor in carriage house was dated and need to be updated especially for price we paid. Also envelope in room for tip if thought room cleaner did good job-- since we paid additional 23cad at checkin hope the cleaner got some of that..Very disappointed..Will not be back n will not recommend..
this unique inn is old fashioned style with modern facilities and sad that out of season could not use the restaurant.
nothing
This dated but charming inn allowed us to bring our Golden Retriever. We appreciated that. We had an excellent breakfast and we enjoyed the garden. Honestly, though, these historic buildings have seen better days. Personally, all the antique dolls put me off a bit. Nice staff.
Super cute and quaint, breakfast service was uneven
Value for money
Could use a refresh but it is clean and comfortable
