A great find within 15/20 mins of North Berwick. Couldn't fault the room which had huge bathroom with roll top bath and walk in shower. Very comfortable stay. The menu in the pub is not extensive but everything we had was beautifully cooked and presented. The place was buzzing with locals and visitors on both nights we were there. Highly recommended
Staff was exceedingly helpful. Charming hotels and location. Woud stay there again.
Very nice inn and kitchen. The team were really friendly, the room was lovely, food was good value. Location excellent
Great stay in a lovely fresh clean room. Bar was welcoming and the food was great!
Lovely little piece pub!
Excellent. Fantastic bedroom and stunning bathroom! Very enjoyable food and friendly helpful staff. Thank you for a great stay!
Nice place
Beautiful room, clean and a good shower. Beds are also very good! Tea and coffee on the room and a wonderful restaurant with excellent food.
great bar and restaurant all available on the premises
Breakfast was fabulous & when we needed help figuring out the bath they were really helpful!!
We enjoyed our brief stay in the quiet village of East Linton. The welcome and food was very good and the room, cosy. However, the room was very hot and lacked an ensuite. We had to venture out across a corridor to a private bathroom; this was not made clear at the booking stage.
Stayed for one night and absolutely loved it! Staff are brilliant, everything you need in the room and it’s clean and specious. Breakfast was fantastic.
We had a lovely three days in a most comfortable room with super bath and shower. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order and very tasty. Every member of staff was helpful, efficient and very welcoming. Thank you.
Great location with easy access by car or rail. Excellent location for visiting Edinburugh. Spacious clean rooms with good facilities. Nice pibe with good food and friendly atmosphere. Staff friendly and very hlpful. Definitely will return.
We had a great stay here. All the staff were friendly, we loved our room with the ensuite, the pub had lots of atmosphere and we really enjoyed our dinner. The breakfast was the best breakfast we've had so far - everything was tasty and piping hot. Thanks.
It was very good in all areas welcoming and very convenient for our needs. The surrounding areas were lovely and very easy to to get into Edinburgh by public transport
Lovely room, great food and friendly staff. Unfortunately due to a leak coming from the room above, water flooded into our room through the ceiling. The bar manager came very promptly and dealt with it the best that he could but unfortunately we had to vacate the property for the remaining 2 nights of our stay. He contacted us the next day regarding the issue and as it could not be resolved it was agreed we would receivet a refund.
Comfortable and quiet room. Excellent food and beverage offering.
The food in the restaurant was superb and had a wide variety of choices that worked for us (vegetarian). The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean. Staff was friendly. We had a room that had a private bathroom (not en-suite) that needed a bit of work. Only down-side was there were no towels when we arrived. We asked, but none appeared. Evening staff was very busy in the bar that was packed and I think they were short staffed, so somewhat understandable.
Great breakfast, comfy beds.
Besides a dirty pillow and dirty coffee/tea pots it was a nice stay. Very quiet and cozy. I like the decor but not a separate bathroom. Turns out only one room has a bathroom outside of the room.
The room cost £90 for b&b which was adjacent to the actual pub area. It was advertised with a private bathroom which is a bit misleading as it was not en-suite but over a corridor and up a stair which isn’t ideal. The room was small but very clean and well appointed except for TV which didn’t work. The food had great reviews but was really disappointing. Ordered nachos to start and share. Salsa, guacamole, sour cream all obviously out of jars etc. and prefabricated. Had cod which was overcooked and a Cajun burger which was ok but served with the obligatory frozen chips. Choose Italian red wine at £29 which was fine but actually retails around less than £9. Leave others to decide if that’s value for money? When bill came tried to charge for 2 portions of nachos which was ridiculous. This was removed when spoke with the Manager. When I pre booked dinner expected to be served in restaurant but on arrival was informed we would have to eat in the bar as there was a private function. Nobody advised of this prior to our arrival. Staff did apologise which was more than be said for manager who was less than impressive. In fairness all the other staff we had dealings with were helpful, courteous, pleasant and friendly. Made an effort to stay at this hotel on our way home from elsewhere due to food reviews etc. Unfortunately didn’t live up to the hype and was in the main very disappointing. Would not recommend and most certainly not value for money in my opinion.
A great stay despite the stairs, room was spacious and a large bathroom with a great walk-in shower The bed was the best sleep I’ve had on ages
Lovely quiet hotel
This is a property with very friendly staff who offer a warm welcome. The room we booked was rather small - not much room to get around the bed and very hot and stuffy on a warm night, with road noise if the window was open and no fan to cool it if the window was closed. The biggest issue was that it was not ensuite so worth checking what you are booking. My booking said "private bathroom" which turned out to be across the hall and up some steps and I wouldn't have booked the room had I realised that. I'm told there is just the one room that isn't ensuite so just be careful when you choose. Not the best night's rest because of the heat, but likely just this one room as it was so small. Can't fault the people though - very friendly.
Welcoming Pub with nice rooms, huge bathtub and shower, good food, beer, whisky. Very helpful staff, kindly portered bags up upstairs. Only street parking so don't leave things on sight overnight (area safe, but best be careful). Would stay here again
Terrific hotel in the heart of East Lothian. Facilities you would expect from.a pub - excellent evening meals and included breakfast. Room was well furbished and spacious. No noise from the pub below, some traffic noise from being on the main road but not too busy. Great location.
Great character room, with nice bathroom and shower, Pub does very good food on evening and breakfasts were excellent
Had an excellent short break using the place as a base to tour East Lothian. Staff and food were superb. Thoroughly recommended
We stayed for one night on our way to Edinburgh. The room was large and comfortable with an excellent walk in shower. We ate in the restaurant where the food was fine but after the main course was served the removal of finished plates was very slow
Lovely location, good food and good service from all the staff but disappointing niggles tainted the stay. No hot water on arrival after a long drive and day’s walking, little heat from the radiator, broken handle on the shower unit and noticeably loose flooring in the bathroom. The hot water was resolved before bedtime and the manager did all he could however far from ideal. This said if the issues are addressed it is a nice place to stay.
Excellent welcome team great room and excellent food
Lovely overnight stay. Room was comfortable with friendly bar staff next door. Will definitely look to book again
Great and relaxed hotel - very welcoming staff. Just disappointed we stayed on a night the kitchen was closed - part of our reason for staying there the website should make it clearer but will go back
The staff were amazing and helpful. The room/cottage was incredibly comfortable. If I have a more extended stay in Scotland, this is where I will stay.
Firstly, this host does not make it clear that all accommodation is above ground level and not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. Bathroom was in need of a wipe down as dust in bath , shower control fell off , towels had clearly seen better days ruff and washed out . Shower looks good as rainfall and additional shower ,however you needed to climb over the old style bath , again no suitable for anyone with a disability. Bathroom not onsuite and cold. Room welcoming but basic , no chair to sit on . No water in room . Decor and furniture clearly old and shabby sheek No visible breakfast menu. Asked for poached eggs waitress took order and returned to say not available! Breakfast when arrived was poor quality, 1half cooked fried egg,1 sausage ,1slice of bacon, 1teaspoon of cheap beans, cheap potatoe scone hard as a brick.Horrible black pudding and some other unidentifiable slice. Cheap bread white no option for brown bread . Clearly do not source from local farms . Option was coffee or juice , coffee white or black ! Such a pitty as located in a beautiful village location.
One of the cosiest and tidy cottage I have visited. Ideal for a family vacation.
We had the most wonderful overnight stay at The Crown and Kitchen and we stayed in Town Square room. From our request for early check-in being granted to the service to the fact that we were allocated a table for dinner despite the pub hosting a private function, our expectations were exceeded. Incredible room, incredible food.. I couldn't recommend it more! Thank you all so much. Leah and Chris <3
Beautiful and comfortable room-lovely decor.Friendly staff and owner was very chatty and helpful
Bedroom floor had not been cleaned. Masses amount of hair belonging to previous occupant ! The close proximity to the high speed railway line was a bit of a surprise because the cottage was not actually next to the hotel.
Great location, great bar, gorgeous food and most of all brilliant staff!
Booked for an overnight stay. Ideal for our needs. Modern, clean room. Pub attached serving good meals and lovely breakfast. Right on main street, very central, although not a lot in town.
We checked in at the restaurant. The employee, who seemed like he was the owner was very friendly and helpful. We stayed in a small house around the corner from the restaurant. The house was nice and comfortable. Our only disappointment was that the washer in our house did not work. However, my wife made contact with the owner and he allowed us to use the washer and dryer that they use to clean the linens for the apartments. Overall, a great experience.
We stayed in the Fountain room, while it doesn't have an en suite it has a private bathroom just across the hall. The room and bathroom were spotless, the bed comfy and the breakfast was great. The staff were amazing, the chef even ran down to the local shop to get gluten free bread for my toast! We will definitely recommend this place to our friends and family and would love to stay here again.
Our room was lovely. The pub and outdoor courtyard was great. We enjoyed the quaint village of East Linton and attended church a short walk away. It was more expensive than similar places we stayed in Scotland
This nice little cottage could have been good if it had been properly maintained. The hot water was not working properly which made getting a shower impossible. The toilet seats in both shower rooms were broken. There was a really scabby leather chair in the living room that had obviously been chewed over by dogs. It was also right next to a noisy railway line.
The room was very comfortable, clean and well furnished. The only issue I had was that evening meals were not being served as it was a Monday evening. Breakfast was excellent and the staff very helpful and friendly.
Absolutely loved our 2 night stay here in the Wynd room. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the meals (tea and breakfast) were delicious (was talked into a full Scottish brekky with Black Pudding and Haggis and enjoyed it). The room was spacious and comfortable and the the bar below was great also. Thank You to everyone at Crown and Kitchen for the lovely hospitality.
The room was pleasant and the bathroom was great. The only thing in the room was there was not an electric plug near the mirror for blow drying hair etc.
Really welcoming hotel. Staff were lovely, roon was great and food was excellent. Only thing to know is that East Linton is really noisy, especially in early morning. And the church bells toll at 8am.
Friendly staff, lovely food and great room. Perfect place to stay to explore the beaches in East Lothian.
Really enjoyable stay and helpful staff room was modern and spacious. Meals reasonably priced. The full Scottish breakfast was outstanding top marks to the chef by far the best breakfast ive had rhe pleasure of eating 5 stars alround
This isn’t a hotel but rather a small townhome with two bedrooms. The squeaking floors and fast train that runs literally above made sleeping impossible. Might work for sound sleepers.
This was the last night of our four night trip staying at pubs each night (which is unusual for us). Our room was out of the pub and in a building just next door. We were on the top floor so lots of stairs, the room was lovely and had a gorgeous bathroom with a super shower. There was no ability to black out the light as the room and blinds were white but the decor lent itself to the quirky building, we loved it. We had our evening meal in the pub and it was lovely, the menu was quite limited but I know they were short on staff, as are so many places at the moment. The pub decor is delightful and breakfast was the best of our trip. Parking was on the road close by which is fine for us. This was a lovely little pub, staff were great, good food and a delightful room. What's not to love
This was advertised as having on-site parking and having an electric vehicle charger on-site. Neither are true, parking is on road and electric charger is some 500 yards down the road. Unfortunately the private bathroom was across the landing and the water was freezing cold in sink, bath and shower. On a positive note the breakfast was brilliant
Very nice and clean , lovely place to stay .
We had a lovely stay in our cottage, it was fresh, clean and well looked after. The staff were friendly and helpful and we had a lovely breakast at the hotel. The location was great for exploring the area and a working EV charger in the village was a nice bonus. Would highly recommend
I stayed in one of the cottages. Very modern, spacious, comfortable. Owners were very friendly indeed and staff in the pub/restaurant were nice too. Would definitely recommend and book again when in the area(short drive to North Berwick/better value for money-if a little quite)
Comfortable, charming pub guesthouse in a lovely village. The pub itself serves excellent food and the breakfast is fabulous. I think most rooms are en suite, but the room I stayed in was not. Robes were provided to cross the corridor to the bathroom, which is not shared, and this was fine for me. All in all, a lovely place to stay and from to explore the area.
Chilled quiet welcoming friendly well located hotel with a delicious breakfast
Beautiful hotel, lovely room, delicious dinner and breakfast and great staff.
Great stay
Clean and comfortable, beautiful little village
Hidden diamond with a fantastic restaurant. Local oysters and lobster on the menu and a great steak for good prices. Room was clean, good condition and well furnished. Only issue could be parking as it’s a small village; but I didn’t experience this. Will definitely return if in the area
Room was great and had everything I needed
Beautiful little hotel with a lovely owner. Room was gorgeous and i thoroughly enjoyed my time here, even during covid. All precautions/social distancing were followed etc.
great accommodation, excellent food, dinner & breakfast. good pub & good staff. Would happily go back.
I was really impressed by the Crown & Kitchen. Lovely clean and fresh room. Lovely evening mean served by friendly staff. Thank you guys!
I would rate this in two parts - firstly the room (Town square), which was large, clean, very well presented, great bed and a super bathroom but had it two downsides. First was it was cold, the radiators gave a little warmth but even on max barely got above tepid, second down point was the TV which was too small. Therefore 3 stars for the room, shame it could be 4 if it was warm and 4.5 if a larger TV. The food though was a good 4.5 stars, Dinner with friends was very good and breakfast equally enjoyable. Staff good and safety good.
Really like this place, small but nice and clean. Good food, drinks and nice staff.
A great stay only dampened by current COVID restrictions
Spotless and lovely cottage 1 min from Pub/Restaurant. Great food too.
Great stay. Food was excellent. Fish and chips for dinner in the courtyard and a cooked breakfast. Great, friendly service. Lovely room but a little dusty in corners etc.
Clean and tidy, good shower. Finding parking only problem probably due to covid.
Lovely little hotel. We stayed in the Gallery room which was on the top floor. Ensuite included a large roll top tub. Room was a good size. Christopher, the lady who did the housekeeping and the entire staff were wonderful. Great breakfast and they have nightly specials like burger night, steak night, etc. Titally recommend.
Great place and great service! Would happily book again.
Lovely stay, room was spotless and the bar/food was lovely. Staff top notch
IT was verry good.we Will come back
Lovely room, fantastic dinner and breakfast, and very welcoming staff. I’d highly recommend and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.
Overnight stay as at a wedding nearby. Very pleasant helpful staff, room lovely, breakfast great!
The rooms are good and the staff are friendly and helpful. The Wi-Fi was patchy and the road noise started at 5am. The rooms are close to the road and there is no double glazing. The breakfast is substantial and freshly made.
Warm welcome, nice clean room, good breakfast. We were joined by some friends for a very pleasant dinner
The Crown & Kitchen is a beautifully decorated home from home hotel. The amenities are lovely - we stayed in the top attic room which is gorgeous (fireplace, old lovely windows and a stunning roll top bath). The bed was very comfy and the decor is lovely. We unfortunately had to leave very early in the morning so missed breakfast, but we had dinner the evening before and the food and pub was very yummy. Great service and atmosphere. Would certainly stay again.
Had another lovely stay at the C&K. Everyone is so helpful and can’t do enough for you. Once again the food was lovely. Looking forward to next stay
We had a lovely attic room which was spacious and comfortable. Bathroom was huge. The staff were all very friendly. Food was nice.
Lovely quite little town and the accommodation was clean and fresh. Breakfast was excellent and nice and hot. Hope to return soon.
