Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Beautiful property set in the most picturesque location. Lots to do and see. Special mention to Luca, he was the most lovely man working on site
The food was amazing. Some of the staff amazing, but some were not really freindly or welcoming.
Some of the staff could be more freindly and welcoming.
The location is beautiful, the views and stunning and the hotel is fully part of the village, which is gorgeous
The facilities are a little basic compared to other Aethos hotels, the gym and pool changing facilities are basic and it unfortunate the spa is additional cost so we didn’t use it - this would be inclusive in most hotels of this level
Aethos Saragano is a heavenly place with views to die for. We loved our room (room 4) if you can book this room we highly recommend it. Loved the simple but perfect breakfast every morning and also had two great meals in Ceci. The Aethos team made great recommendations and bookings for us for dinner on the other nights. The pool area was lovely, no problem in getting sunbeds and we loved the honesty bar set up for drinks and snacks (especially the ice creams). All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful, thank you Paul for the impromptu tagliatelle demonstration. We have definitely left a bit of our heart in Aethos Saragano and can’t wait to come back one day.
No complimentary drinks or snacks in the room, this was ok for us as we stocked up at the local supermarket on our way in. My only other complaint is that we didn’t see enough of this beautiful area as we couldn’t always pull ourselves from the hotel and were happy just being in our Aethos bubble.
Beautiful property. Lovely location and decent food.
Staff need better training. They’re friendly but not trained well and this ends up creating unnecessary inconveniences for the guest experience. Dinner / breakfast was a bit disorganised - and the cherry on the top was being double charged for our room (the booking was paid for on booking.com, and the hotel charged my card (a higher rate) upon check out. When I messaged them to say this, at first the my denied it and after several messages and contacting both booking.com and the hotel, the hotel admitted their mistake. It’s been over six weeks, and I’m still waiting for the full refund! Didn’t leave me with a good impression at all.

Men kon prijs-kwaliteit veel beter eten in locale restaurants in de omgeving.
Food, service and location was outstanding
hotel, parking and reception difficult to find when arriving. I was missing a gym
We stayed in an apartment with a small kitchen in the historic part of the property, and it was exactly what we were looking for. We loved the location, the unique atmosphere, the beautiful surroundings, the exceptional service, the delicious breakfasts and excellent restaurant. Everything was spotless, and the whole place had a charming, authentic character. It is truly a special place.
There was nothing we didn’t like. Everything met or exceeded our expectations.

Loved every minute of this trip, Paul and team couldn’t do enough for you! Will be staying here again.
The hotel is nestled on the top of the tuscan hills. It is a beautiful spot in a little town with 10 residents. It was fantastic having an apartment which was quite spacious. The cleaners were excellent - coming every day. The food was exceptional - breakfast and dinner. It was great to chill by the pool.
It heat wave struck while we were there. The airconditioning units were very noisy which was sleeping with them on difficult. A gym at the hotel would be excellent - future suggestion

Prachtige (panorama) kamer.
Very beautiful location. The staff is amazing. Very good food and wine. Loved the pool and the general athmosphere. It's perfect to relax, also thanks to the SPA and the treatments.
I think that for an esclusive experience, such as the one in this location, dogs shouldn't be allowed. If they have to be in the resort they should have their own separated space not together with the other guests.

Everything about this place was wonderful. The staff, room and the view. Paul arranged a barbecue dinner for the guests which was great: we got to talk to other guests from different places. We also took an archery class which was a blast! Our instructor Luca was patient with us and it just was a lot of fun! The restaurant Ceci was good, too! I strongly recommend staying at this property.

the place was absolutely beautiful, one of the most beautiful settings! the rooms were lovely and clean. the food was very good.
Aethos positions itself with the promise that "The rules are different here"—a message that suggests freedom, authenticity, and a guest experience that adapts to individual needs. Unfortunately, our experience revealed that this promise is little more than a marketing campaign. The most frustrating aspect was the service. Throughout the day, we were repeatedly asked whether we would be having dinner at the hotel—via WhatsApp, in person, and often by the same team members we had already spoken to. Being asked once is attentive; being asked multiple times after already providing an answer feels intrusive and poorly coordinated. Equally disappointing was the tone of service. Rather than warm, genuine, and welcoming, interactions often felt performative and somewhat dismissive—as though staff were trying too hard to embody a certain lifestyle image instead of simply connecting with guests. There was a noticeable difference in how certain groups of travellers were treated compared with families, despite the hotel's family-friendly positioning. At times, it felt as though some guests fit the brand image better than others and were rewarded with a very different level of attention. One incident particularly highlighted this disconnect. Our children encountered a group of snakes on the path to the pool and were understandably terrified. We fully appreciate that we were staying in a natural environment and that wildlife is part of that experience. However, the staff response was essentially a joking "it is what it is." What was missing was any sense of care or reassurance: checking whether the children were okay, offering guidance on what to do if it happened again, or even suggesting that someone could accompany us to the pool if we felt uncomfortable. Small gestures like these are the essence of hospitality, especially when guests are shaken.
We stayed at this beautiful hotel for 1 night amongst our Italy road trip. Our first time staying at the Aethos brand. This hotel was one of our favourites from our trip so far. The staff were so friendly and helpful which really added to the experience. The rooms and hotel were beautifully designed. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious and we throughly enjoyed our afternoon in the spa. We would definitely stay here again or look into another Aethos destination!
This was the most beautiful little piece of paradise. The people working there were so lovely. The food was incredible. We did a cooking class, which we loved. Our kids did archery, which was so fun. Massage was amazing. Views can’t be beat.
There are hotels that are beautiful, and there are hotels that are well-run, and occasionally there are hotels that are both. Aethos Saragano is something rarer still: a place that makes you feel, for the duration of your stay, as though you have stumbled into a life (slightly) better than your own. Set within a medieval hilltop village in Umbria, the hotel is woven into its surroundings rather than imposed upon them. The architecture doesn’t announce itself. The rooms - ours a superior terrace apartment - are clean-lined and modern, all quiet surfaces and considered light, but it is the view that stops you: breathtaking in the truest sense, valleys rolling away beneath blue skies, hills stacked softly to the horizon. We had nothing but sunshine from beginning to end, and the stillness of the place made it all the more vivid - quiet in the way that is never quite silent, filled instead with birdsong shifting through the day and, as evening fell, the sound of crickets and frogs carried up from the valley below. But the physical beauty of Saragano is almost beside the point, because what distinguishes this place is the people. The young staff are kind, warm, humorous and genuinely helpful - expert without condescension, present without hovering. In the restaurant, Ceci, the wine pairing and dish guidance was genuinely impressive - the kind of knowledge worn lightly, offered generously, with real pleasure in the sharing of it. You leave these exchanges feeling fed in more ways than one. And the food itself. There is a quality to what comes out of the Ceci kitchen that is increasingly hard to find - ingredients that taste like themselves, dishes that don’t overclaim, flavour that lands with conviction. Food, in other words, that tastes the way food is supposed to taste. It is something really special, and it deserves to be said plainly. Each morning brought something delicious and varied for breakfast - generous without being excessive. The breakfast staff were happy and kind in the way that had become familiar across the whole hotel; they added something we hadn’t anticipated: an enthusiastic daily Italian lesson, offered with encouragement and good humour. We left each morning marginally better at Italian and considerably better in spirit. Then there is Paul. What Paul is doing at Aethos Saragano goes well beyond the competent management of a hotel. He builds something - an atmosphere, a texture of communal life - that brings guests into genuine connection with each other. Meeting new people was one of the unexpected highlights of our stay, and this doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because someone has understood that hospitality, at its best, is about more than service. We visited over Easter and stayed for a week, and the weekend lunches were wonderful - generous, unhurried, celebratory. The Easter egg hunt deserves a mention of its own: eggs laid out across the grounds surrounding the pool by a certain Easter bunny (Paul!), the children each emerging triumphant with a bag full of eggs as well as an enormous Italian Easter egg of the kind that makes a child’s eyes pop. It was joyful and generous and entirely in keeping with the spirit of the place. The foraging activity with head chef Delfina was a particular highlight. She was magical with our two children: patient, happy, alive to their curiosity, and her knowledge of the land and what it offers was astonishing. Watching our children prepare foraged ingredients - wild asparagus, wild carrot, and chicoree amongst others - for a communal lunch, proud of what they’d gathered and learned, was one of those moments that had an impact. We also tried archery - genuinely, not just in the way you have a go at something and move on, but properly, with instruction, making real progress. The pool, bathed in spring sunshine, provided perfect counterpoint: still, blue, unhurried. A week also gave us time to explore the region, and Saragano makes an exceptional base for it. Perugia and Assisi are close, which we visited, Spoleto and Spello are within easy reach, and Orvieto is well worth the further drive - all these are on our itinerary for next time. Because leaving the hotel’s own surroundings requires a certain act of will. More than once we simply didn’t. We have already planned to return next Easter. The spa awaits - we were, it has to be said, having far too much fun to make a reservation this time around. We intend to return with the same spirit and slightly better planning on our side. Aethos Saragano is doing something very special.
We had a wonderful stay at Aethos Saragano. The hotel is set in a beautiful town and everything about our experience was excellent, from the friendly staff to the food. Breakfast was incredible and dinner was also very good. The spa was a highlight, and a special mention to Ottavio for his great service. Thank you to the whole team for such a memorable stay. Highly recommended.
Clean comfort and staff courtesy
Molto pulito e ottimo servizio

It’s so different in the best possible way, built as a tiny village, with tons of countryside charm but with new and slick interior in the rooms. View is to die for and food at Ceci, both breakfast and dinner, is top notch (Delfina the chef deserves every bit of credit and same goes for the staff at Ceci). Can’t wait to be back. Last thing, don’t miss out on the SPA, small but amazing and the view is stunning.
Me and my mom had a splendid time. We stayed at the apartment which was really cosy and big. They had towels, creams, everything for showering and of an amazing quality - I must say, which many times is not the case. The Stuff was super super nice. We also had dinner at their restaurant Ceci and it was DELICIOUS. They guy who served us, was so cute. The lady at the receptionist was super helpful and kind, she also suggested us whee to go to eat on our way back to Milan. The rooms were warm, the views were amazing, the breakfast was abundant and the little Borgo was a dream :) I really really would return there again. Oh and the Spa, lovely one - we were lucky enough to be the only 2 there on a Tuesday Morning.
Hard to say to be honest, not much to nitpick about.
A very nice hotel located in the nature
Bellissima location e camera spaziosa e da favola. Tutto ottimo, un paradiso in terra.
Serene location, stunning views, wonderful restaurant on location, comfortable apartment and a staff ready to bend over backwards for us.
No complaints at all.
Stunning location and views. Modern and comfortable rooms.
Quality of service not in keeping with luxury status. Our room and bed weren’t serviced and made. Air conditioning was switched to winter mode, so there was no cooling option even though the weather was mid to high 20s.
We stayed in the Jacuzzi Room for our honeymoon and WOW, it was truly amazing. The view was breathtaking and we loved having our private terrace. All the staff were wonderful, especially the Portuguese man who served us the majority of the trip. The food is great and we loved our cooking class with the chef.
The only thing we could have wished for was somewhere to have a drink after dinner, the terrace was normally closed and with is being cold in the evenings it would have been nice if an inside bar was open.
Magical atmosphere
There was an unexpected event with one of the waitresses, she entered the room without knocking
Tutti incredibile , posto meraviglioso
Great staff, peaceful and new rooms.
No view from our room
Breakfast was outstanding and beautifully presented. The staff could not do enough for you, and any request was greeted with enthusiastic helpfulness.
Can't think of anything I didn't like, except for the wasps around breakfast. Although when I got stung a staff member gave me some ice and cream for the sting and even kissed it better. So sweet.
The hotel is beautiful, the views are stunning and the food is excellent.
There are lots of insects in the high summer (not their fault and a sign of how healthy the air is!)
Excellent location with beautiful views
The highlight of this hotel is definitely the staff—they’re exceptionally friendly, attentive, and personable, always ready to help with a smile. The room was comfortable with beautiful views, and the beds were especially cozy, making for a pleasant stay overall
Unfortunately, breakfast was disappointing. My husband has a gluten intolerance, and every day we had to remind the staff to adjust the plate, which became frustrating. The standard breakfast was limited—just a croissant, jam, some bread, and yogurt with granola. On the first day we paid an extra €10 for eggs and bacon, only to receive barely a strip of bacon, which felt unreasonable. Honestly, I would have preferred no breakfast option at all. The pool area was beautiful, but it was frustrating that many guests left towels on the loungers for hours without using them. With only a few shaded beds available, this meant some guests were left sitting in the direct sun for long stretches. The property definitely did not live up to our expectations.
Tutto!
Very caracteristic country-side italian destination with a great mix of modern facilities and historical heritage. Quiet facilities, very welcoming team. The pool is a gem.
Price is a bit on the high-end for the overall service level
Aethos Saragano is simply extraordinary! Nestled in Umbria’s breathtaking hills, this hotel masterfully blends medieval charm with modern luxury, creating an unforgettable retreat. The staff’s hospitality is unparalleled, making us feel like treasured guests from the moment we arrived. Every detail was handled with warmth and precision, ensuring a flawless stay. The restaurant is a culinary gem! Dishes crafted from fresh, local ingredients burst with authentic Umbrian flavors. Dining on the terrace with stunning views was pure magic. The Thursday BBQ is a must-experience! Grilled local specialties paired with Sagrantino wines under a starry sky created a warm, festive vibe in Saragano’s picturesque streets. The rooms are exquisite—elegant, immaculate, and cozy, with jaw-dropping views. The hillside pool and spa are heavenly, perfect for ultimate relaxation. Visiting nearby vineyards is highly recommended! Guided tours through the wineries and their historic cellars, paired with tastings of exceptional local wines like Sagrantino, elevated our trip to another level.
Absolutely stunning location, the views are incredible, especially if you have a room or apartment with views over the hills (and pool). The staff at the hotel were lovely too. Food at the restaurant was superb, loved it! And the setting of the restaurant with views over the hills is beautiful.
On occasion we waited a little too long for service at breakfast, so perhaps an extra pair of hands to help at breakfast would have helped. The set up in the rooms is also quite spartan. From an aesthetic point of view no complaints, but a chest of drawers would have been useful for clothes (especially as we were there with young children).
From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the incredible hospitality. The staff were so sweet and welcoming, and the food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious! A massive shout-out to Paul, who went above and beyond to make our anniversary stay unforgettable. What he did for us was truly special, and we won’t forget it—he’s an absolute star! Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a memorable and heartwarming experience.
Nothing
My husband and I spent 8 glorious nights at the Aethos Saragano last month and still dreaming about it! The hotel is in a sweet tiny village with the most gorgeous setting nestled in the peaceful hills of Umbria surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills. Bonus is the restaurant with superb food and wine and an “out of a movie” view of purple sunsets. Very convenient after touring the area. Pool also was so refreshing and surrounded by most beautiful fragrant flowers. We opted for the large apartment in the main historical house which was very roomy, great natural lighting, and had its own small balcony to star gaze at night. Huge, huge thanks to Paul, Chef Delphina, Stefania, Celeste, Luisa, and all the wonderful Aethos team. You all made us feel at home in your gorgeous home!
Pretty much everything. We booked here for the exceptional views, they didn't disappoint and you could barely hear a sound other than the sounds of nature. Our 1 bed terrace apartment was lovely, very large and well appointed with a dishwasher and Nespresso maker. The large terrace had the same stunning views. The pool was a good size and temperature, there was never a shortage of sunbeds. The restaurant provided a superb breakfast every day, and the other meals we had there were delicious. All the staff we encountered were very well trained and friendly. Paul the Manager was a very hands on presence, a lot of managers could learn from his customer service skills.
There was an issue with lack of sunshades, particularly at the restaurant. Most customers wanted to sit outside on the terrace for the stunning views but there were no sunshades. These were needed even at breakfast in the June/July heat. Bizarrely there were sunshades provided on the unused terrace on the opposite side, a swap would be a good idea. We had a similar problem on our South facing terrace, maybe a roll away shade could be added here?
Aethos Saragano is a hotel that has been built within an Umbrian medieval village, up to 50 villagers still live there so it feels very authentic and the bells still ring from the church each day. There is a restaurant with beautiful views and excellent food. There is also a lovely pool down in the valley which was never too busy and a nearby spa. The staff we encountered were all lovely, the Manager Paul deserves a special mention as he was an incredible presence at the hotel and ran it like a tight ship, he was very helpful to us in recommending places to go and eat. We loved our stay at Aethos Saragano, it was such a beautiful place and we hope to return.
Charming Views, Friendly Staff — But Falls Short of Website Promises We stayed in the highest-tier accommodation available — a terraced apartment — and were drawn in by the lovely countryside setting, friendly team, and pet-friendly policy (an additional €35). While the food was enjoyable and the staff welcoming, our overall experience at €243.60 was underwhelming. This is clearly a budget-friendly property, and we kept our expectations modest. However, several aspects were disappointing and not accurately represented online. Most notably, our apartment bathroom (not shown on the website) was in very poor condition — outdated, worn, and far below the standard suggested by the photos. This was a stark contrast to the more presentable main living area. Arrival was also a bit difficult, particularly at night. The reception is tucked away among private residential flats with minimal signage, making it confusing to locate. Additionally, the access road is in disrepair, which made reaching the property a rough and uncomfortable experience — especially for those arriving in lower-suspension vehicles. We visited while scouting potential venues for our tourism business and, unfortunately, decided to move forward on with other candidates. That said, for budget-conscious travelers seeking a quiet, remote escape and who are willing to compromise on comfort, this may still be a viable option. Just a note of caution: the website gives the impression of a more luxurious and refined experience than what is actually on offer. Travelers should adjust expectations accordingly.
Nothing
Italy is a wonderful country, full of amazing people, places to visit, eat, and stay. Unfortunately, Aethos Saragano is a negative outlier.
The view is beautiful, as are all views in Umbria. The pool was also very nice. The breakfast is a set menu, though orange juice and eggs are an extra charge.
The quality of the room did not match the pictures. The kitchen needs to be refurbished, holes in walls need to be fixed, the tiled floor scrubbed, and the shower was unusable (in particular the shower head). We had an apartment with a kitchen; however, the kitchen didn't have the appropriate utensils to actually use it. The knife was blunt and the frying pan old and crusty. We purchased our own in the end. I think the whole property could use a handyman, gardener, and generally more staff. We loved Umbria, and really wanted to love this hotel, but sadly we won't be returning.
Breakfast on the balcony each morning was delightful. The service and offering was always sensational.
The property could be slightly updated and outdoor areas cleaned.
