Tea Cottage Resort & Spa

We had a lovely time and were sorry to leave. We stayed 3 nights. Great view from our room over the valley, taking in the quarry and river. Staff very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend picking your own tea and learning the process of hand rolling and drying. Bringing our tea home made a unique souvenir, and a week later, we are still enjoying and talking about our tea and the different strengths. No trouble getting tea and spices into Australia. Comfy bed, enclosed shower with lovely hot shower. Appreciated fridge, tv, and additional seating area. Traditional food from restaurant was lovely. You could eat in restaurant, or they will bring to your room. Other option is in the garden under the dome, looking into the valley - recommend that! Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable and special. A very memorable birthday.

Room could do with a little TLC (door strike plate needs some screws, clean exterior of windows to maximise that view), minor issues.

We stayed here for two nights and were thrilled! The staff is incredibly friendly, attentive and tried to accommodate us in every way. A problem with the air conditioning was resolved immediately. Definitely do the tea making class and the tea tasting; it was fantastic, we learned so much! The food was mostly delicious (try the porridge!), at breakfast we could admire the beautiful view and a few monkeys. We would come back anytime, thank you so much!

Die Unterkunft ist grundsätzlich auch schön. Man hat einen sehr schönen Ausblick. Das Highlight war die Teeplantagen-Führung mit der anschliessenden Zubereitung und Verkostung der eigenen gepflückten Blätter. Der Führer war sehr sympathisch und hatte sehr viel Wissen und konnte alle unsere Fragen beantworten. Das war eine sehr authentischer Einblick.

Die Unterkunft hat undichte Stellen, wodurch Falter hineingelangen. Am Abend hatten wir Dutzende Falter im Zimmer, was nich angenehm war. Zudem riecht das Bad etwas müfflig und Möglichkeiten, um das Handtuch aufzuhängen gibt es keine. Bezüglich der Ausstattung des Zimmers fehlen zwei weitere bequeme Sitzmöglichkeiten. Das Zimmer bietet Platz für 4 Personen. Allerdings können sich nur zwei hinsetzen, um die schöne Aussicht zu geniessen. Der Name „Spa“ im Namen ist sehr irreführend. Der Spa-Raum ist nicht besonders überzeugend. Was besonders entäuschend war und eine klare Grenzüberschreitung ist, ist, dass der Masseur nicht peofessionell ist. So wurde trotz vehemmenter mehrfacher Verneinung angeboten, auch Intimbereiche zu massieren.

The property was literally surrounded by a tea plantation & was calm, quiet and peaceful. The staff went out of their way to be helpful & we enjoyed the breakfast & the 2 dinners we ordered from their menu (delivered to out outdoor terrace).

Secluded and Calm place

It's not worth the money. If you really want to stay in nawalapitiya then only stay here or else better to stay in hatton or nuwaraeliya. much better. Also don't go on photos, this place is not near to Tea plantations. Nearest tea plantations is 5km atleast.

Tea cottage is nestled within a beautiful nature abundant tea estate. Its a family run business and nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they helped us with excursions, booking drivers and the tea picking and making class with the hotelier is unmissable! We loved taking our home made tea home and sharing it with our friends. The restaurant serves delicious food and they had a great selection of iced and flavoured teas. The rooms are spacious and high end, beautifully built with huge windows looking out to nature and of course tea plants. Its a small resort and attracts couples, friends and families. We had a great time and hope to visit again.

We had an exceptional stay and for a small business the quality was very high! If I had to raise one area for improvement the bathrooms beneath the restaurant could be better managed with soap and hand towels. Our bedrooms however had plenty of ammenities and were super clean.

Loved the hospitality. Everyone was very welcoming and warm. It made a big difference that they cared. Rooms were a good size. We stayed in Serenity, and the view was really nice. We ordered dinner and it was really good. The welcome drink was amazing.

The resort is showing age. There are some things that could definitely be updated and repaired. Small things like bathroom drains, the sink drain, some broken flood boards were a few things. We were told there's tea in the room available, but unfortunately it wasn't. It's not much of an issue, but as a tea resort, we thought they'd have a nice variety. Breakfast was okay, nothing much to love, it was decent. I know the pool has natural water, and we need to inform the staff to use it, but the pool area isn't inviting at all. That's something that can improve for sure.

We booked the Tea Cottage Resort very last minute and I'm so glad we did! We were given such a warm welcome and greeting. The room was located in such a peaceful surrounding and was absolutely gorgeous. I want to give a specific review of the staff as they were incredible! We had some issues with our rental tuk tuk and they went above and beyond to help us out. Thank you very much!

Property is run down. The only place in sri lanka that made us pay before we saw the rooms. It is also at a remote location, so try not to reach there late in the evening. You will be stuck there for the night. We had a two day trip and checked out the second day as it didn't suit us.

Staff were fantastic- loved the cooking class and tea making experiences. Food was great and outstanding views from cottage.

The room was spacious and clean, but needed a bit of TLC.

This property is set in a beautiful and quiet area, surrounded by greenery, which makes it a lovely escape. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the whole place has a calm, relaxing vibe. My stay was enjoyable and restful. There were a few places that could be cleaner, but the positive atmosphere and location made up for it. I’d recommend it for the peaceful setting alone.

Extremly nice and helpful staff. The room and the view were amazing. We really enjoyed our stay and we would gladly come back. The surrounding nature and fee plantations are breathtaking.

Love the location and views

The rooms comfortable but there was poor cleaning in the rooms, a lot of corners were missed and filthy.

We had the best time staying at the tea cottage! The staff was so attentive and friendly and the golden ice tea on arrival was very tasty. We had both dinner and breakfast at their restaurant and it was delicious. The bungalow was so cozy and we loved the surrounding area with several waterfalls to go swim in, just a short drive away, as well as beautiful hiking! We were the only tourists around and the local people are (as everywhere in Sri Lanka) really helpful and nice. The manager Johan made our stay very special!

This place hood for rekax and calm stay in hill country. Rooms are okay.staff is friendly. Food from the menu is reasonable price and tastes good. Portions sizes are okay.

La suite vue sur la forêt et la rivière est top. Les repas sont très bon. Le personnel est très gentil. Possibilité de se faire apporter les repas en chambre. La possibilité de faire un cours sur le thé et d’autres activités.

Il y a marqué « spa ». Or, c’est seulement un masseur de l’extérieur qui vient faire la prestation dans une petite salle, les prix sont plutôt haut. Pas de spa en tant que tel comme en Europe. Dommage qu’il n’y est pas de salle de sport non plus. Pas très commerçant… Une attention aurait pu être faite après avoir acheté 10 paquets de thé dans leur boutique. Des petits insectes dans les chambres mais nous somme en plein cœur de la nature donc pas de soucis avec ça.

przyłożyłabym większą uwagę do czystości pokoju. Czajnik był bardzo brudny w środku. Wyglądało jakby ktoś w nim gotował coś innego niż wodę np mleko ponieważ na dnie był zaschnięty brązowy przypalony osad. W łazience butelki na kosmetyki były puste, nie zostały uzupełnione. Na umywalce były puste opakowania po mydłach w kostce. W pokoju zostały puste opakowania bo zjedzonych batonach prawdopodobnie po poprzednich gościach

El entorno natural es espectacular y el alojamiento ha creado un espacio realmente increíble! Nos hospedamos en el chalet y la habitación era muy confortable, estás en medio de la jungla con un río en frente precioso. Realmente emocionante! Contratamos el rafting con ellos y fue una experiencia de 10, muy divertido! También cenamos en el hotel y estaba muy bien y a precio correcto y tuvieron el detalle de traerlo a nuestra habitación. Por último añadir que el servicio fue excelente, están siempre dispuestos a cumplir cualquier necesidad! De verdad si estás por la zona tienes que vivir esta experiencia!

El desayuno se paga a parte y es algo elevado de precio si comparas con los precios de Sri Lanka. También la limpieza de los espejos y las cristaleras podría mejorarse.

- emplacement : loin de tout, immergé dans la nature et en particulier les champs de thé. A part les quelques touristes présents à l’hôtel, on n’a croisé aucun autre touriste lors de nos balades... Ls paysageas de la région sont sublimes et variés (champs de thé, cascade, rizières, réservoir d'eau, temples...) - Repas très bons (dîners apportés sur notre terrasse à la demande) - Personnel très aimable (même si echanges compliqués car niveau d'anglais moyen) - L’excursion organisée (visite propriété, récolte thé, fabrication thé et dégustation) était de grande qualité. Grandement appréciée par toute la famille ! - Cottage très spacieux et donc bien adapté a notre grande famille + literie confortable

- Ménage non fait au quotidien dans la chambre, et propreté passable mais à améliorer. On est dans la nature donc il faut accepter la présence de quelques visiteurs (macaques, chiens, sangsues… à l’extérieur + quelques cafards un soir dans la salle de bain / chambre) - Légèrement vieillissant donc on le ressent un peu dans le confort (électricité qui saute + salle de bain aurait besoin d’être un peu rénovée + quelques odeurs désagréables dans la salle de bain)

We wanted to experience a tea plantation and The Tea Cottage resort was perfect. It is a beautiful and tranquil place. We enjoyed our Tuk Tuk ride to the waterfall and our tea picking and making experience. Our guide spoke perfect English and was very informative.

Le cadre de l’établissement est magnifique !! les cottages sont situés en pleine nature, nous avons une vue superbe sur les montagnes et la plantation de thé. Nous avons assisté à la visite de la plantation, ramasser du thé avec les cueilleuses et fait notre propre thé que l’on a ensuite dégusté. C’était une expérience géniale ! Le propriétaire et l’ensemble du personnel sont aux petits soins et si gentils. Nous avons également très bien mangé. Nous le recommandons sans hésiter et reviendrons si nous visitons à nouveau le Sri Lanka !

We did a super interesting tea plantation tour, followed by a tea processing demonstration and tea tasting, guided by the very knowledgeable owner of the tea farm. Highly recommendable!! The location of this resort is fabulous, in the midst of forest, tea plantations, and views onto a beautiful river valley.

Our room was quite shabby, needs renovation. Also the furniture was not very appealing. When you order food which is not on the menu, make sure you clarify prices beforehand, the billing system does not seem to be very flexible.

Great staff . Really helpfull and friendly. All of them were great and helped in any possible way.

The air con in my room didn’t work at night. And the tv was stuck on one channel.

Amazing off-the-beaten track location, so peaceful with stunning views all around. Absolutely delicious food, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure you were happy. We all had spa treatments with Vasanth who was the best ever! All in all a great stay and we hope to return one day!

The view from our room was breathtaking 🌈

On the first night, we were shocked to find a large nest of ants inside our room. Despite trying to manage the situation ourselves, it significantly affected our comfort. The second night brought an even more unpleasant surprise, as we encountered a large cockroach in the bathroom. This was particularly disappointing as this hotel was meant to be the highlight of our accommodations in Sri Lanka — but, regrettably, it turned out to be the least comfortable one due to the bug infestation. We understand that unexpected things can happen, but such issues reflect poorly on the standards we were expecting.

Absolutely incredible place! I already recommended it to a few fellow travellers! Stunning views, beautiful villa, food and tea were also great! Thank you for making our stay unforgettable!

Delightfully remote location in a working tea plantation. Sadly the tea factory was shut for maintenance. Working through the plantation is allowed and a very pleasant pastime. It’s not a place for activity, just a restful spot. The cabins were fine although the bathrooms could do with some maintenance and an update. Food was good.

Excellent and quiet location, beautiful room

This is a Spa resort but we could not book any massages during our stay, so suggest if you are interested in massages, you book ahead of your arrival.

The staff was great, very helpful and caring. The place is surrounded by nature and is a great base for hiking and trips to waterfalls. If you don't have your own vehicle, you can take advantage of the wide range of activities they organize.

Beyond expectations- the best stay we had in Sri Lanka. It might be a bit hard to reach the place, but once you’re there - you don’t want to leave. Restaurant was great, throughout all the meals. Loved to privacy. And the view was great. Thank you for having us and would recommend it to everyone who is looking for some peace and quiet, and great food and juices.

Amazing location in the mountains, beautiful views. Large and spacious accommodation with lounge area and private kitchen. Restaurant was very accommodating and served food quality food at a reasonable price.

The kitchen area could have done with a few more basics like washing up liquid and the fridge could have had a better clean.

Amazing place located in the middle of tea fields in the mountains. The host gives a very interesting tour into the tea fields and explains the entire tea-making process. There are also lots of other activities, such as hiking, visiting a nearby waterfall, bird watching etc. Food is great, staff is very friendly and rooms are spacious. Would definitely recommend!

Hard to do something without a tour

The setting , the food , the gorgeous staff , the peace and tranquillity. The monkeys . The tea picking and tasting and our wonderful cookery lesson .

The windows could be cleaned better so the view could be appreciated from inside too.

Disappointment upon arrival. The name SPA is so exaggerated. Then you take the pace, walk through the tea fields, and finally participate in the tea tasting and completely reevaluate the place. We had a wonderful time here.

Nice location, friendly staff and good food.

No hot water, and when we asked for help they “fixed” it but it still didn’t work. They had left for the evening before checking that it worked again.

The Staff and management was very helpful and attentive to all our needs. The food was excellent value for money and very big portions we struggled to finish some of our meals.

Nice peaceful location. 1 Bedroom apartment very roomy. Food was great. Staff service was excellent. The only downside was that the resort should alert travelers that the pool is not in operation and there is not a Hot Tub.

Lovely big cottage with dining terrace in the middle of a tea plantation estate. Comfy super king bed and good airconditioning. wifi and TV all worked. Location is remote about 5km from town. But Staff organized tuk-tuk transport for us to visit nearby waterfall. Lovely walk in the tea plantation mountain.

The tea factory was closed during our stay, so did not see the tea-making process.

We stayed at the double room which was a decent double room. It was quite, bed sheets and bathroom clean and the stuff was really helpfull and always on call. The also is really good and fresh.

The downside is that its in the middle of nowhere, so if you are passing by or planned any excursions there is nothing to do. We had some trouble with the hot water and the wifi. No kore than two days to stay.

Absolutely stunning place for people who are looking for very calm, relaxing and beautiful rest. Located out of the city, directly in tea gardens. Really recommend ‘tea making” as activity there for people who want to know more about tea. Very delicious local food.

The place was charming and serene I was there for work - so returning to accommodation like this after a long day of work was incredible! The staff was exceptional and very kind to give me a lift to and from my Chalet as it was raining during my visit.

The room needed a bit of maintenance, like shaky door handles and gaps in the doors that let creepy crawlies in (and there were a few of them) but I wouldn't harp on it as the facilities were great!

The view and the luxury

The food could be better

This place is worth not just a detour but the whole trip to Sri Lanka. The road to get there from St Clair is a breathtaking ride through the tea plantations. The resort is beautifully designed and well kept. We received a free upgrade and our rooms had floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the jungle and a river valley down below. Every detail of the décor of the rooms is tastefully picked and the result is elegant without pretense. The food was interesting, good and fairly priced, and served on a beautiful deck with a vista. The staff was friendly and helpful. We truly enjoyed our stay and it will remain a high point in our two-week visit of Sri Lanka. Incidentally, it is a steal!
