Kithala Resort

The hotel is beautiful, the view and the rooms are fantastic, the pool with the view to the rice fields, and nature. The best is the staff, gentle, smiling and too kind.

We had a fantastic two night stay at Kithala Resort. The room, the views, the facilities and the staff were all first class and I would whole heartedly recommend to anyone. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Had such a wonderful stay at Kithala Resort. The view was absolutely breathtaking. waking up to that scenery felt like a dream. The peaceful, quiet environment made it the perfect place to truly relax and unwind. What made the experience even better was the incredibly warm and welcoming staff, who went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a calm and refreshing getaway.

Lovely eco-conscious resort with nice swimming pool and expansive views over nearby rice fields. Very attentive staff and large rooms with balcony outlook. Delicious buffet and set menus, and great coffee.

Nice rooms friendly atmosphere and good location for the yala park. Good restaurant drove by sweetest Imasha

Really good safari, Maduka was very knowledgeable. Saw everything except the elusive leopard. Thanks

Stayed here one night but everything has been lovely! All the staff, including the restaurant staff, are so helpful and kind. The resort and view is beautiful, with so many birds and well kept grounds. The food was great and they did us a packed brunch for our morning safari, which we also arranged through the hotel. Would definitely recommend for a lovely place to relax and unwind with nature.

Staff were friendly and accommodating. However the rooms were very disappointing (we had 2). The bathroom was absolutely appalling as the drain smell was very strong in the bathroom and into the bedroom. It almost made us feel sick. The staff tried to fix it for us but pouring stuff down the drains didn’t work. The light in the ceiling of the bathroom flickered so we could not use it. There was no ceiling lights in the bedroom. The aircon only partially worked. Food in the restaurant was ok. Overall I would not recommend this accommodation.

A lovely setting and very attentive, friendly staff. A very relaxing and comfortable intimate hotel to use as a base for a Yala safari.

We arrived at the hotel in the evening and were so happy with the welcome, the service at the front desk as well as the restaurant - special mention to Imasha. We had very nice rooms, great food, and very comfortable. Definitely recommended

Very nice rooms great restaurant and staff ready to please especially lmasha…::..::………………

Hats off, to those involved in setting up this great location for a very romantic dinner. The food was very fresh and delicious and cooked to perfection. Staff was great and went out their way to offer us a great night.

Wow! What an incredible hotel! The view is magnificent, the setting is fabulous, and the staff is amazing. We had to leave early to go on a safari, and they prepared breakfast in a box for us to take along. The bar service was excellent as well. The only less positive point was the food, which, although very tasty, was too spicy overall for a tourist.

The location was beautiful and had lovely views over rice fields. The staff were very welcoming and generous throughout our stay. The room was airy and had a large comfortable bed with a balcony overlooking the lake and pool. The bathroom was clean and had a decent size shower (although due to having no base the water sometimes went beyond the shower door into the main bathroom floor). Large choice of options for meals whether on the buffet or a la carte menu with local dishes and international choices on offer. Overall a great relaxing environment to spend a portion of our trip. We didn't use the pool but it looked sparkling clean and had loungers around for casual relaxing/sunbathing as well. It was a convenient place from which you can easily visit the national parks for safari and the staff are more than happy to help arrange this for you alongside offering a packed breakfast if leaving before the buffet time.

Lovely hotel with views overlooking the paddy fields. Staff were all welcoming and attentive although service was sometimes a bit slow. The food was good although there was a very small choice of desserts (compared to all the other hotels we had stayed in). We wanted to buy a bottle of wine and asked for one from the menu - they didn’t have that one or the other 2 Sauvignons at the similar price so brought out one they didn’t have which was over 3000 srp more! We suggested that they could offer this at the same price as the one we wanted as it wasn’t our fault they didn’t have it, but they were unwilling to do this which was quite disappointing. Other than that we enjoyed our short stay

Beautiful location, fabulous staff, comfortable rooms but could do with a little modernisation. The restaurant staff were particularly helpful, and Imasha went to great lengths to ensure we got all we required.

Fabulous hotel with great food, rooms location. The service from Yeshmi and Keshan was excellent. We will return one day

Cozy hotel with very friendly staff. The rooms are big enough and have space for luggages also. The hotel is near enough when going for a safari to Yala. Everything is functioning well, it is clean and has a small shop also to buy things forgotten. As european traveller, we were happy to find all kinds of possibilities (many outlets) to recharge electrical equipments.

Good service. Imasha was excellent. We loved to stay at this hotel.

The place is wonderful. Perfect for anyone looking to relax and unwind. The staff is exceptional. True testimony to the hospitality of Sri Lanka. Imasha was particularly attentive and was soon training the younger staff with great care. Overall wonderful experience

Hotel wiev with and pool paddy filed very nice.. Service is very great.... Food is very delicoous.... Imasha and Janith very kindly, very helpful also Imasha, Janith Recommened..... Very good person... They service very good... I come back reason of Imasha and Janith.. Food is delicious

Great stay. Imasha was really friendly at breakfast and dinner. Comfortable rooms and a great location for safari. Would recommend to anyone for a few days whilst traveling the country.

Lovely atmosphere, wonderful surroundings by the pool very relaxing. Special thanks to Imasha, she truly made our stay here wonderful ❤️

The hospitality is amazing! The view from our room is stunning. Imasha was our waitress and is incredibly friendly and welcoming. The food from chef Miuru was incredible! So much flavour. Dahl curry my favourite!!!

very beautiful location with exceptional services and a very kind, helpful team. The restaurant services were excellent. Everything was well taken care of, and the atmosphere made our stay truly enjoyable. Highly recommended!

Lovely hotel, super comfy beds, great choice of food and located in a peaceful and quiet setting overlooking the rice fields. Imasha an the team are very attentive - thank you for a great stay!

Thank you imasha for the great service, very helpful, the man that cooked the omelette was the best, we loved the omelette!

We had a lovely stay. The staff was very friendly and the food was good. We enjoyed the pool era and the nature surroundings very much.

Really nice hotel small hotel. Modern and cozy at the same time. High quality furniture and bathroom ameneties. Friendly staff, good service. Dinner buffet ok. Can't comment on breakfast buffet as we went to morning safari, had packed breakfast to go which was accepable but not great. Lovely pool area. Rooms really good. Only downside was that bathroom has small openings to corridor outside (not possible to close), letting insects in at night and you can hear "everything" standing in the corridor or even in bathroom next door because of same openings there..

We have just completed a very enjoyable two night stay in this very well maintained and beautifully positioned hotel just a short forty minute drive to the amazing Yala National Park. As with all hotels we have stayed at here in Sri Lanka, it is always the wonderful people who look after us that make our stays so memorable. And so it was at Kithala resort! From the warm and genuine welcome at reception by the lovely staff who greeted us with their warm smiles to the fabulous tea, looking after the dining area overlooking the rice fields and jungle. To Imasha and Asanka who managed the restaurant so ably and Yeshmi and Juanita who took care of our orders during our stay, Thank you for your kindness and attention to detail and for looking after my wife who has a gluten intolerance. The atmosphere at both breakfast and dinner, sitting outside was magical. Our room, 110, was well appointed and we felt very comfortable. Having a door that opens onto the lawn near the pool and overlooking the rice fields and jungle was especially nice. For our full day excursion to Yala National Park, having a pre packed breakfast waiting for us in bags at 6:00 am ready for our pick up by our guide, was a very nice gesture and an unexpected treat. Thank you to everyone at Kithala and to Kawya and her colleagues at reception who wished us well as we departed for Galle, thank you all for making our stay so memorable.

We stayed here for our Yala safari trip, we had a pleasurable stay with awesome view of paddy fields and lot of birds and awesome sunrise and sunset views. Achintha and Imasha made the restaurant service 5 star levels. We enjoyed this property at leisure.

Excellent Christmas dinner and amazing views and cosy atmosphere. Service is good although slightly slow. Would visit again. Pool and view 10/10

Amazing Place into the nature, the service Is very attencioned, the food Is so good. The safari Is and uniqu experience and special. Resturant staff Is very kindly, must of all Imasha who help us to discovery new place aroun on the way Place.

Good hotel and price worthy. Even on a weekday they had buffet for every meal . Clean rooms and pool. Loved the view. The staff was very friendly and helpful

We had an amazing time staying at kithala resort. The paddy field veiws were amazing especially at sunset. The service was exceptional . The staff were amazing especially Imasha who was so kind and showed amazing hospitality. Thank you to everyone at kithala. We hope to be back soon!

I stayed here for one night and had a pleasant experience. The property was clean and peaceful, creating a calm and comfortable environment. While the food was average and could be improved, it was decent for a short stay. Overall, considering the cleanliness, ambiance, and pricing, I found it to be good value for money. Would recommend for a short, budget-friendly stay.

Visited Kithala Resort & Spa in Tissamaharama with my clients and had a very pleasant experience. The resort is calm and surrounded by nature, making it a nice place to relax after safaris and long drives. Rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was enjoyed by my guests. The peaceful atmosphere and good service made it a suitable choice for travelers visiting the Tissa and Yala area. I would recommend it for a comfortable and relaxing stay.

Very lovely staff, super accommodating and definitely made it a very pleasant experience. Imasha was especially lovely surprising us with birthday cake! Thank you so much we are very grateful

An amazing stay, close to Yala national park. Imasha and Kavindu were excellent hosts and all the staff were incredibly hospitable. Wonderful views overlooking the fields.

The food at the restaurant was especially good, Imasha was a she gave us excellent attention and was a great professional. The view leaves nothing to be desired, being of the best. Recommended experience.

Location is really beautiful…The staff was really impressed specially Captain Imasha.she was very help full and she has beautiful smile.rooms are in good quality…enjoyed well ..

This was the most hospitable and kind hotel in my travel experience. Imasha was a smiling face each day and took great care of us. Mr Myruru the chef was exceptional. He made special meals for one of us but his buffets were exquisite. The facilities were clean, comfortable and picturesque. I highly recommend this place and we will be back (without the children lol) Congratulations Mr Asanka on a beautiful place and friendly staff.

Lovely staff, good location with great facilities! Thankyou to Imasha for being so friendly and helpful! Great opportunity to see wildlife!

Room veranda looked onto infinity pool and paddyfields- saw 3 kingfishers before breakfast! Beautiful boutique hotel and friendly service!

Great hotel placed in nice surroundings. Close to rice fields and the personale are very smiling and helpful. Recommended

Excellent service Imasha staff very good service …………….,…………………………….,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

This is a lovely hotel and beautiful setting amongst the rice Paddy fields. It is very quiet. The staff are lovely and very accommodating. The restaurant Has an extensive selection. We only had a one night stay, but enjoyed the pool for the afternoon. As we went on a dawn safari, the hotel packed us an enjoyable breakfast to take.

Lovely rural location. Delightful traditional welcome given on arrival.Comfortable bed, great infinity pool overlooking rice paddies. Good sized room and bathroom. Lovely balcony overlooking the pool and fields. Meal provided to room as insects were problematic in restaurant in the evening. Very good breakfast packed for our early safari start.

Lovely stay and great service in the restaurant thank you to imasha, sudarman, deumi, janith, kavindu…………………………………….

Amazing stay here in yala best property with great ambience, vegetation options are there. Will recommend for vacation with family or with friends

I loved my experience here. Great service by Imasha during dinner. I stayed here for the yala experience. The check in service was brilliant also.

Stayed at hotel with friends and had a lovely relaxing time, the food and service were excellent. Shout out to Imasha and trainee Demi.

We checked into Kithala Resort and immediately felt our stresses melt away. The staff are friendly and would tend to us with a smile. Restaurant staff Imasha and Vicky were exceptionally helpful. The rooms are comfortable and the view is simply breathtaking. Thank you to all at Kithala for making our stay a memorable one.

It’s a very calm place with nice scenery! Worth the price ! Good staff and friendly service! This was our second time and we enjoyed the experience!

Maduka and his driver guided us through Yala National Park servicing with the Leopard and Elefant hot spots. In addition he explained a lot about the park, the structure and the different kind of species, e.g. snakes, mongoose, monkeys, birds, deers and the habitat of Leopards. They constantly drive with high security and have very nice spotting eyes to find the animals. Fun and laughing was a major part of the 4 hrs. safari. I can recommend as very professiona, young career oriented guide. All the best for him and his family.

A lovely colonial-style hotel, with an infinity pool and a restaurant overlooking the rice fields. The staff is friendly. The room is spacious and decorated in colonial style. The bathroom comes with a full amenity kit, bathtub and shower. There is also a terrace facing the pool.

Beautiful boutique hotel. Rooms stylish and comfortable. Very convenient spot to explore the Yala National Park which was amazing. Shout out to our waiter who made sure we were well looked after at every meal. Thank you Kavindu Edwards and Fidocks travellers from Perth WA

We had a lovely stay here at the Kithala Resort. The staff here were very friendly and the rooms were nice. It was only about a 30 minute drive from Yala National Park, so very convenient. We would definitely recommend this hotel!

From the moment we entered Kithala Resort until the time we checked out, we had a truly wonderful experience. My husband and I visited for a relaxing getaway, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. The location is peaceful and beautiful, surrounded by a calm environment that instantly makes you feel at ease. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, treating us with great care throughout our stay. Whenever we needed something, they responded promptly and with a smile. The highlight of our stay was definitely the food — absolutely exceptional! We’ve previously stayed at Maalu Maalu Resort & Spa in Pasikuda, another property from Thema Collection, and we could clearly see the same high standards in both food and service here at Kithala. The pool area was another favorite spot for us, overlooking a stunning paddy field that created such a soothing and serene atmosphere. The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. We also appreciated the early check-in we requested being arranged without any hassle. The use of herbal toiletry products like shampoo, body wash, and handwash was a thoughtful touch that added to the experience. Overall, we had an amazing and relaxing stay at Kithala Resort. We’re already looking forward to exploring more properties from Thema Collection in the future! 🌿✨

Overall very nice hotel and cleanliness of room looks excellent. Food and atmosphere of the location is also fantastic

We enjoyed our day in your hotel.... Thank you for your amazing sevice And the main thing is ur food it is very tasty &delicious, We love it. 😊♥️

Service in general is excellent and the staff are very friendly. The food is average but lacked variety. Whilst clean, the rooms felt a bit outdated and ours especially was weird in its design/layout.

Kithala Resort is an absolute gem! The serene setting, beautiful rooms, and amazing service made my stay unforgettable. The staff was super friendly, the food was delicious, Whether you're looking to unwind by the pool or explore nature, this place has it all. Highly recommend for anyone seeking peace and luxury in one

Beautiful people Beautiful place, beautiful food 😘 what more can l say? Amazing place to stay, and close to yala park, which is good

had a short stay at kithala and we were given a very warm welcome by the front office team .. they make you feel at home and invited us to light the Oil Lamp which is a symbol of respect ..it was very special ..wish we had stayed for few more days !!

I was really disappointed with my experience at this hotel. When checking out, I was told several times that my card had been declined, even though the issue was not with my bank. As a result, three identical payments were taken from my account for the same bill. After a 30-minute delay, I had no choice but to pay in cash so our tour could continue. I later provided all the evidence by email, and even our tour guide contacted the hotel to help resolve the issue. Despite this, I have still not received a refund or a clear response. Mistakes can happen, but taking three payments from a guest’s account and failing to resolve it promptly is unacceptable and unprofessional. This situation could have ruined someone’s holiday. I am now having to go through my bank to recover the money.

We only stayed for one night but this place was on the whole very nice, reception were welcoming and as with most places we visited the staff looked happy to be doing their jobs. The bedroom was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good but we were dissapointed in the evening offering as there was not much to our taste. This property was in a good location for a visit to Yala National Park, which is a great experience.

The pool area is lovely and the staff is very friendly and attentive. We enjoyed talking with restaurant staff and were happy to receive recommendations from them. The food was delicious. The rooms are comfortable and clean.

After an incredible journey across Sri Lanka, our final stop at *Kithala Resort near Yala* was the perfect way to unwind. Nestled among lush greenery with rice paddies stretching into the horizon, this resort feels peaceful, grounded, and welcoming. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-kept – with beautiful views of the natural surroundings. You can feel that the resort is built with love for the land and an appreciation for Sri Lankan charm. The staff were kind, attentive, and always ready with a smile – which made our stay feel warm and personal. What stood out most was the *balance between comfort and authenticity*. It’s not over-the-top luxury, but it offers everything you need – and does so with heart. The food was fresh and flavorful, and the atmosphere in the dining area felt like home. Being close to Yala National Park, this was also the ideal base for our safari. We loved how the team helped coordinate everything smoothly.

Thorough enjoyed our stay here, pool and rooms were excellent, everything was spotless upon arrival and we were greeted very warmly. We got upgraded to the set menu rather than the buffet which was delightful, and special shout outs to Kavindu and Vigneshwaran for great service. Defo reccomend !

Really cozy spot, great food, attentive staff - photos don’t do it justice… Even made a surprise cake for my wife’s birthday!

I love this hotel. The staff are wonderful and the outdoors area is very relaxing. I recommend a stay here. I will return.

Yes it was. It had a lovely atmosphere and very pleasant and obliging staff. The food was delicious and the unique infinity pool overlooked the paddy fields and water buffalo. We had pre dinner drinks with our tour group which was great.

I had a wonderful stay here! The service was excellent – the staff were warm, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. The view was absolutely stunning, making it the perfect place to relax and unwind. My room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable, with thoughtful details that made the stay even more enjoyable. Overall, everything exceeded my expectations, and I’d definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great experience.

The place is very nice and the staff is very attentive. The pool is amazing, and the hotel is very well located. Good place for coming with friends

The perfect hotel for the perfect P. N. Yala experience. Amazing views and vibes. All staff is wonderful and the pool is a must!

Superb hotel. We had a room literally ten steps to the pool, which looked out to a small wetland with water birds then a rice paddy. Room was very comfortable with everything we needed, and immaculately clean. Food was excellent, staff were lovely. No defects or faults of any sort, it was all good

Hotel in a beautiful location. Terrace with gorgeous views. Dinner is very recommended outside . Very friendly and attentive service, especially Asanka. Thanks !!

This is a fantastic place to relax, cool off and get pampered before and after a Yala wildlife safari. The pool overlooks paddy fields alongside waterways with turtles and kingfishers. All the staff including the grounds folk were very welcoming. The service by Almali and her team was professional and attentive without being intrusive. Thank you all!

The food was really good, not much variety, but really tasty. The staff was extremely professional and accomodating, especially Ishan, who went above and beyond in his care to make our stay enjoyable.

We had an amazing experience at Kithala Resort. All the staff are super courteous and their hospitality is second to non. We have noticed many trainees who are very attentive to all the guest. This is a testament to the training provided by the hotel to be top notch . Good food , beautiful views and excellent staff. We will definitely come back for a longer stay.

We stayed as a family of 4 for 2 nights. The location is beautiful over looking paddy fields and the pool is lovely. The staff are very friendly and hospitable. This was a great location for the Yala safari and the hotel pack a breakfast for the early start. Overall a great stay.

Wonderful location. About 40 min drive to Yala. Internet is not great. Half board means no lunch (breakfast and dinner only). Full board means 3 meals. Rooms are clean and comfortable with a nice view over the pool to the rice fields

It is a nice place ,the restaurant is so good and the hopitality is so nice too with Uditha and Ishan were more professional and sympatic. An amazing experience kn this hotel

Kithala resort, yet ananother blissfully warm place to be. I was iinvited by my friend Mr Salinda (Housekeeper) and we stayed there with my mother for 3 nights . I fell in love with how the resort is mingled with nature. Simplicity was the key. Lush paddy field symbolised the lifestyle of Tissamaharama community . What mostly felt by me and my mom was the caring nature of the staff from the reception desk upto the dinning room and beyond. Although the hotel is old, cleanliness was in good standards. One set back was not having a variety in the menu. After staying for three nights we preferred to get some changes in the buffet menu. Warm thanks to all the staff for a lovely stay . We'll be back!

We had very pleasant stay at the hotel. Rooms are good and staff super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the 3 days in the pool area and of course the park where we see all type of animals. Luckily we saw Leopard, Elephant and Crocodile.

Its wonderful. The atmosferę, shell, pool marvelous. I recomend for every one. Very nice staff . Tkank you so much. See you

Thank you for the service. The staff were very helpful and polite. The rooms were clean and had good views of the paddy fields. We had a great time. The food was great and a wonderful selection. We highly recommend coming to this hotel. It is great for family trips

We stayed at Kithala Resort, located about 25 km from Yala National Park, mainly for its convenient access to early morning safaris. The property is surrounded by scenic paddy fields and has an inviting open-air swimming pool with views of lush greenery, which was quite relaxing. However, the overall experience was underwhelming. While the room was clean and decently maintained, the bathroom was noticeably cramped and could use an upgrade.Food quality at the resort left much to be desired, with limited options overall and nothing catering specifically to children. One of the biggest disappointments was the breakfast arrangement for the safari. We were provided with a packed meal for our 5 a.m. safari, but despite requesting separate vegetarian and separate non veg options , chicken steaks were included in the vegetarian parcel. This made the food unusable for our group and was quite frustrating. Additionally, the insect presence around the property was excessive, which made spending time outdoors less enjoyable. While the resort has potential thanks to its natural surroundings and proximity to Yala, it falls short in service quality and attention to detail. With some improvements in food service, hygiene, and guest needs, it could offer a much better experience.

**Staff very nice **Foods good **Room is very cleand and maintained **Services superb **Location Superb Overall 10/9

I had a wonderful time with my family during our stay at Kithala Resort. The service provided by the staff was excellent—friendly, attentive, and always ready to help. It truly made our experience memorable. Highly recommended for a relaxing family getaway!

I stayed here during a trip to Kataragama with my family. The booking process was smooth, and I did it online. They have a pretty functional web site and are very responsive with the phone. Location It's located in Thissamaharama away from the clutter of the city in a very quiet environment. Perfect place for a relaxing stay. Hotel The front of the hotel just faces the main road and looks quite ordinary but don’t let the looks from the front deceive you. The back of the hotel is totally different from the front. It looks over pure greenery of the grass covered open area and the paddy field. The paddy was still young, so it had brilliant green which was soothing for the eyes. In between there is a nice pond which attracts birds. The pool is also situated in the garden overlooking the paddy field, which is quite nice. Accommodation We booked a triple room on half board basis. Our room was on the upper floor next to the stairway leading up to the garden. The room is spacious but not the largest in the class, very clean, and it has a private balcony with a breathtaking view of the green paddy fields and the garden. Great place to read a book and relax while zipping tea. The room consists of all the basic facilities including TV, sofa, safe etc… Also, it had tea making facilities. The only negative point I had with the room is its bathroom. It’s a bit cramped and the door of the bathroom cubical was hitting the shower head which misaligns it. And the showerhead is too far for a short person to adjust. Though it’s not a dealbreaker it was a bit inconvenient. But it had all the toiletries. The beds were very comfy and overall, I am happy with the room though I had some negatives on the bathroom. Food We had dinner and breakfast from the hotel. Both were offered as buffets. The spread was relatively small but quite sufficient to fill you up. It was just right for us, and we loved it. The service received during meals was great. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful. Service We received great service from the hotel staff. The staff was extremely friendly and quite happy to respond to our requests and was ready to provide a detailed explanation of the aspects of the hotel when we had questions. Loved the great service from the friendly staff. The hotel offers some excursions like safaris, but we didn’t took part because we came there to have a relaxing time which we did. Overall, we loved the stay at the hotel. It's an excellent place for families or groups of friends to have a relaxing time with some safari adventures.

Beautiful place with the most wonderfully kind and attentive people. The surroundings are so well kept and the pool is lovely to sit and cool off in. We had the buffet and found it was delicious and we had plenty to choose from It was a great base to go on safari. All in all highly recommend.

Such a beautiful place to stay. Nothing was ever to much trouble for the staff. Amali was very helpful and such a lovely person. Rooms were always clean and very comfortable. Meals were delicious and plenty of it. Would recommend anyone go visit and stay here. Would love to come back with the family one day.
