Good location

The location is handy for people who travel by train as the station is over the road. We travelled by car and there is plenty of places to park. It is by the canal which is lovely to sit out by and have a coffee or beer. The staff are all very friendly. Prices are a little steep but rooms are lovely and the bed was very comfy. All was very clean.

I couldn't park in the court yard near my room as I have before, which was a little bit inconvenient as I hold a disabled badge. They only have 1 disabled parking spot I think. This was used, so we had to park near the room to get our bags out and then park in the pub car park as there weren't any spaces nearer. The breakfast wasn't included with the room and the rooms are a liitle more than most rooms locally which do include breakfast.

Location was great, Willington is nice, the room was very clean and very comfortable bed. Quiet location too so got o good nights sleep. Breakfast was very generous and delicious.

Staff were really lovely and helpful. Emma managed to find us some toothpaste as we forgot ours! Room was large and clean. Aircon was great, could change the settings so it wasn't noisy. The restaurant had delicious food options and great drink choices. Lovely walk to the Marina nearby. Very relaxed.

Noisy guests above us. We could hear every word they said and all their movements. Not the hotels fault, just thin floorboards.

The staff were very very good. Even when they were extremely busy. The room was fine. It seems that’s ALL the rooms are not in the main building but approximately 20metre away, in what they call the Cottage. Our room was number 5 which overlooked the road. So expect some low level road noise. We had the roast dinner in restaurant which was most enjoyable and we also enjoyed the breakfast the following day. I would stay again.

The pub does get very busy on sunny days because of the location on the canal. So car parking may be a problem. We had to hover till a space became free. Including the public car park next door.

Location was perfect, lovely walk along the canal to the marina with shops & restaurants. The room was a good size with a big comfortable bed & an added bonus Air Con which was perfect in this heat. Dog friendly room with a bed, blankets, bowls & treats.

Internet was slow & lost connection a lot. No internet for the TV at all just your basic Chanel’s .

Lovely location in a little village and right on the canal, busy but good vibe in the bar and restaurant, room had everything we needed and stylishly done, food was great, excellent value, lots of walking from doorstep, friendly and efficient staff, very easy to park.

Only very minor comment - we had breakfast included and were given the priced menu but we were unsure what we were able to have within the "breakfast included". Would have been good to have this explained when we were seated eg juice, smoothies, additional items.

Everything was super clean and the staff was nice. The room is comfortable and big and the bathroom is new. Really good stay

The pillows weren't the most comfortable ones, quite difficult to sleep well on them.

Lovely venue and a great atmosphere. Staff all very friendly and welcoming which isn't easy to find these days. Definitely stay again and fully recommend, thanks again for a brilliant stay.

Breakfast was ok, the egg was overcooked and the bacon was un-edible the sausage was slightly undercooked, you cut into it and the skin held on but the meat slide out

Maybe more breakfast tea in rooms as they have a variety, but I prefer just breakfast and more milk, could do with a toilet brush, a fridge would be lovely too but dont know where you could hide it.

The room was quite warm and I understand that the U.K. isn’t usually this hot. However, as the room was facing the street, it was quite loud if we opened the window. Not a big problem for us, but something to take into account when there is a heatwave.

Staff were very helpful and friendly, beautiful decor and high cleanliness. Location next to canal and outside tables lovely. Food was yummy.

The setting of the Dragon next to the canal is idyllic , the food and drink services is very good with staff attending to our door tables. Teh rooms was clean , very comfortable and light. The bathroom was good with a powerful shower.

Was mostly all good...i imagine parking could be a problem of a very busy evening , that said we were there height of summer on a Friday night and found a parking sport easily.

Fantastic pub/hotel rooms were immaculate. The service was fantastic. Best breakfast I’ve had in a long time.

We stayed in the new part of the hotel. The rooms were fantastic coffee facilities water things you expected in the five star hotel matter of fact I think that this is better than the five star hotel in some cases.

Rooms at a Pub often come with the background sounds of such an establishment, but The Dragon has rooms in 'cottages' in the immediate vicinity, so the room was quiet with a really good-sized shower room. The breakfast menu is brilliant, and everything is delivered to your table, so none of that annoying fiasco with using a useless toaster 😃

Although the room in general was clean, the chair was stained, and a very prominent mark on the carpet had not been cleaned. Sadly, the pillows were a bit hard....but I am a pillow fuss-pot 😅

Room was small with a view of the industrial back of the hotel and there was a lot of noise from a generator of some kind. Stair to the room was narrow and steep . The skirting board near the shower had a lot of mould.

Superbly located for our purposes and had the added benefit of a canal side location. Plenty of outdoor seating covered and open overlooking the canal. Room well appointed and exceptionally clean. Non of the oft met unpleasant odours in the bathroom. Comfortable bed with crisp linen. The staff were very friendly and well trained. The food at both dinner and breakfast was excellent with a wide range of choices for both. A very busy pub but no problem gett A good nights sleep.

The staff were so friendly literally as we walked through the door of the pub. They showed us to our room and gave us tips on where to walk our dog along the river. The room we stayed at was just so nice, all the decor was really high standard and well designed. Amazing shower!! Breakfast was delicious and high quality. The whole stay was more than five stars.

Staff were all exceptional. Quite taken aback how happy they all were, actually. Everything was good. Room was clean, bed was comfortable, good shower, nice toiletries, quiet location, good beer and wine, nice food - all round really impressed.

Would have liked a toilet brush in the bathroom... That's pretty much the only thing I can think of.

The room felt dated and would benefit from some attention. There was masking tape on the exterior of the windows that rattled in the wind, suggesting the painting work was a rush job, which was disappointing.

Mooie kamer, ruime badkamer. Alles erg netjes. Lekker eten en vlotte bediening in restaurant. Mooi terras. Gratis parking. Dankjewel aan George! Hij was heel behulpzaam en vriendelijk.

Ontbijt niet inbegrepen, was verzorgd maar eerder duur voor wat je krijgt. Bed piepte en was niet zo comfortabel.

Loved the room and the food was very good we had breakfast and dinner. We thought it was great value for money.

We had a great stay at the dragon, had an amazing room,very well laid out and much better than expected.Evening meal was lovely and food good standard, Meg was attentive and really helpful,sorted out our extra night and further accommodation at another hotel with ease.

You can hear the deliveries for the pub very early in the morning.

Lovely location. Great room but the shower was broken. Also very thin walls so be warned you can hear EVERYTHING that is going on in the next room which was unfortunate for us! The staff were lovely and the food at the pub was great

Hmmm... the Dragon was a real mixed bag. The location is ok, although parking was a bit of a challenge. The busy pub/carpark is very tight to drive around and the parking bays very narrow. I was lucky enough to have a parking space outside my room, but that was a bit of a squeeze to get into. The attached pub is ok, although paying over £6 for a pint will always grate on me, and the food was expensive and not fantastic (I had the ribeye steak for £32.95, it was small, overcooked and not at all worth the money). The team were great though, very helpful and friendly, across both the evening & breakfast service.

The room was quite small, and while quite stylish seemed to be lacking a few basics, namely somewhere to hang my clothes and a hair dryer. The bathroom was in need of some repairs, with the shower rail being damaged (not supporting the shower head) and the floor tiles in need of regrouting. However, everything was nice and clean. I've stayed at their sister pub, The Boot in Repton a few times, and was expecting a similar experience. Staff wise, it's great. Facilities wise, it could do with a little maintenance. One last point to note. The hotel has EV charging facilities, but they're difficult to use. You need to install an app to charge, but the chargers themselves are not labelled, so you're not sure which charger you're selecting when starting a charge. For me, I couldn't get the app to work, even though I was connected to wifi, so couldn't charge anyway. On balance, the room was reasonably priced, but could do with some maintenance and the food could have been better quality/value (although the include breakfast was great!) Thanks to the team for being polite, helpful and attentive.

The welcome, the staff were pleasant, the immaculate room was great and the 2 min bimble to the canal walk was one of the reasons we chose to stay here.. But...

Let me say, I very rarely write reviews and almost never are they bad ones, but I am sorry to say that this one is... Sunday morning being woken up at silly o'clock by the main building alarm and no staff about to offer an explanation! That was the main complaint. The second..on arrival at our room we decided to have a hot drink to settle ourselves into our room having just driven here from Pembrokeshire, the coffee machine in the room decided to empty the water all over the table as soon as it was switched on. I went to the reception and spoke to the duty manager who said she would see it there was a spare and would get one of her team to come to the room. That was the last we heard about it.

The door has a glass window but no blind-outside light of the pub shone in until very late and then woken early by sunlight-it needs a blind. Room was cold on arrival with thin duvet. Noisy room-door of the room opens into extremely lane of the pub and you can hear every move of guests upstairs including their snoring!

Electric car charger didn't work and noone knew how to work it.

This was a delightful place to stay. The facilities were excellent—modern, well‑maintained, and very comfortable. The room was clean, neat, and well equipped with everything needed for a pleasant stay. The on‑site restaurant was a standout feature, offering excellent vegetarian and seafood options.

The Dragon is in a lovely location alongside the canal. It us very vibrant with lots going on. The food was really good and the staff were excellent.

Very good service with staff fixing a problem for us very quickly and efficiently. Bed was super-comfy. Room spacious.

A greater choice and quantity of refreshments in the room would've been helpful. We were staying for 2 days so quickly ran out.

Staff were very friendly. Sunday lunch fabulous, as was breakfast, it was very good food. Room was away from pub itself, so nice and quiet. Very comfy bed. Pub right on the canal, with towpath for walks, and pub garden if weather had been better.

Pub was very full, though the carpark was big parking was difficult as we arrived at 2pm during the Sunday lunch rush. As they were busy, it was hard to get the attention of the staff, and then our room wasn't ready (we were early). We had lunch (prebooked table) but were moved off after 90mins as table was booked for someone else after us; service was slow due to how busy they were, which meant we didn't get to have pudding. Since we were staying and it was a cold wet day, we'd expected to be able to stay in the pub all afternoon. When we were eventually taken up to our room it still hadn't been cleaned from last occupation, so we were then taken back down and across the yard to a different building and a different room (juggling bags and dog with us). Staff were very apologetic.

This is a good location with friendly staff. The room was clean and quiet. The canal side location provides a nice setting and easy access to walks along the Howatharra.

I loved the dragon, and the room I had was really great . Was pleasantly surprised it was on the ground floor as I'm disabled . Food we had was really nice and gluten free for a friend really good .

Just the late night banging coming from room upstairs. It was the same for my friends staying in the room next door to us .
