On arrival from The outside it looked lovely

The room was extremely dirty, windows frames looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in years, very dusty furniture and unclean carpets…the bathroom was disgusting, I didn’t use the shower, had to wait until we got to our next venue for a wedding, they really need to rectify this. I know the price wasn’t expensive but I do except a high level of cleanliness when paying for a service

The bed was comfy. The staff were friendly. The pub food looked good. Cheap room price.

The shower room was fairly dirty both in the shower and around the toilet. In particular the toilet brush which had remnants of dirty toilet paper etc on it, which we notified staff of. Cleanliness could have been better in the room too. The remote control did not work so the tv had to be operated by the buttons at the back. Think it all just needs a bit of care and attention as very dated. Its also a shame that with a kitchen that has a vast daytime menu, that they dont offer breakfast.

We had a serious issue with first night no hot water to shower/ bathe in , couldn’t tell anyone until the following day at 12pm when the pub opened and they said they would call someone when we returned we had scolding hot water and no cold so couldn’t shower for 2 days whilst attending a wedding locally.

A beautiful old building with many features retained of a listed building.

We enjoyed most of the building as in keeping of a listed building. However the bathroom could benefit from some upgrading/tlc

Shower could have been better, but was ok.

The whole experience was pretty average. Facilities that were listed on Booking.com such as a fridge and breakfast were not available. There were serious noise issues with the plumbing in the bathroom which disturbed my sleep. As it was also a pub I was literally locked out of most of the downstairs area outside of pub opening hours. When I arrived there was confusion over my Booking.com payment for two of the 3 nights I had booked. They had not received payment from Booking even though they could see that it had been taken from my bank account. At one stage I was asked to pay again and sort it out with Booking otherwise they could not give me the key to my room. Fortunately after a bit of initiative from the manager this was sorted out. I thought it was over priced for the facilities and service that was offered.

It was convenient for what we needed.

The windows didn’t close in the bedroom, didn’t open in the bathroom or lounge area. There was no hot water either the evening we arrived or the next morning so cold showers. Food was ok. Nothing near the inn to do apart from the Haynes museum which required walking on a major route with no path. Ok for a bed for the night, the bed was comfortable.

No breakfast on offer. The floor in our room was uneven due to the age of the building. Evening meal was good.

Loved location, easy to park, friendly staff, great food, had everything we needed for an over night stay. At the price point was excellent value for money. If we visit Haynes Motor Museum again, we will be booking here.

Not much to dislike, the hotel is very old and as such is tired in places, could use a lick of paint in areas and a freshen up. But this is in no way negative when price is factored in.

The bed was comfortable. And tv was ok.

NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMERS. We booked for a Sunday evening. When arriving we didn't see one person, no customers as pub closed at 7pm. We arrived at 6.45pm , no staff anywhere. As pub now closed. Room key left on table in entrance hall. So much incorrect information on Bookings website and pubs website. Luckily I rang them the Saturday morning,. they informed me that food finishes at 5pm Sunday. I asked about Breakfast, told they haven't served it for two years. Then they rang me Sunday morning to asked when we were arriving, thats when they informed me the pub closes at 7pm. When I said the website information was incorrect, They said they have tried to change it for two years. What annoys us is we picked and booked through booking.com information of the pub. We were meeting up with a friend from France staying in a campsite very close to pub. We were going to have drinks and evening meal at the pub. But had to drive 3 miles to another. then in the morning meet up for breakfast. So totally spoiled our visit with our friend. All due to your out of date information. NOT HAPPY .

Le manque de protection rapport au soleil. Quand nous sommes arrivées, il y faisait très chaud (période de canicule). La salle de bain pas vraiment en bon état. L'absence de petit déjeuner (un des points forts dont je me souvenais d'un précédent séjour il y a 5 ans). Pas de moyen de se connecter au wifi.

Good for short stay

It was good that we had a key to get in the room later in the night. The location was good for us.

The room was very unclean. Cobwebs everywhere. Dirty grimy floors in the bathroom.

The 1st room had the shower hanging of the wall and windows that were dirty and did not open, the second room was just as filthy with stained walls and torn wallpaper and the two room were deluxe rooms and cost me £162 for two nights worse than a youth hostel

My friend and I were attending the Rock n ribs festival so this was a perfect location for us to stay at. Very welcoming, fantastic room and amazing parking area.

The staff were friendly and the location was great for my needs.

NO BREAKFAST AVAILABLE! Booking.com should only offer up accommodation that can provide a breakfast for travellers. This venue can offer lunch and evening meals but not breakfast! A breakfast is probably the most important meal if the day so why not offer it? This has put me off from EVER booking this accommodation again!

The location and character of the building!

Smell of cannabis one night so had to close the window and it was a hot night! Mould in the shower along with a funny smell, cob webs

Great location and good value for money. Convenient for when attending events at the Haynes Motor Museum. Food was very good and all the staff were kind and helpful.

The staff were very friendly and got us an iron when we needed one. They lent us playing cards. Comfy bed and soft towels.

The carpet and the area under the bed were covered in dust. There were stains down the side of the fabric on the bed. The cushions on the bed were also dusty. There were dead flies in our kettle, hardly any of the plugs in the room worked, and the ironing board was broken.

The bed was large and comfortable. The staff were pleasant but limited and under a lot of pressure to carry out their jobs.

There could have been more staff. The shower didn’t work properly - no hot water. The bar closed at 5pm on Sunday so we were unable to get any refreshments.

The only reason I gave 2 stars is because of the girl who was single handedly running the bar, checking in guests and serving food.

The rest of the experience was dreadful. The rooms are filthy, from the mould and uncleaned bathroom to the surfaces around the room not even being wiped down, there were still tea mug stains. A large group of us booked in here to facilitate a weekend of hiking, consequently we booked food for the evening after a 12 mile walk. We had been asked to provide our choices in advance, so there was plenty of opportunity to prepare for our meals. The entire group were disappointed in the meal. Personally I ordered a steak and I can honestly say this was the worst steak I've ever had. The meat was old, tough, fatty, gristly, cold and unseasoned and definitely the worst steak I have ever been served and I was not alone in my opinion. Unfortunately there is nothing I could recommend about the Sparkford Inn.

Badkamer kan wel een update krijgen. Zag er rommelig/smoezelig uit. Lampenkapje in slaapkamer was stuk maar er wel weer opgezet. Een nieuw lampje zou beter zijn. Een tafeltje en een lampje in de leefruimte zou ook fijn zijn.

Can't say much positive

We tried this inn for a second time a year later - ended up with the same sad room as last year, room felt creepy, run down needs a refurb, bathroom smelled damp, had a huge ceiling damp patch and felt unclean.

It's handy, quite cheap, and parking is easy.

The room was like 25 years behind the times, spacious but very dated and shabby looking. Times have moved on.

Cannot fault the staff who were helpful throughout the process, allowing us to check in earlier for a wedding. Bed was comfy.

Unfortunately, the room was not very clean, we found crisps/food on the floor, a small blood stain on the bedding. There was also poo splatters around the rim of the toilet. The shower kept losing pressure and going cold and wasn’t clean.

Lovely place to stay

Food was rated badly on TripAdvisor so we ate out. The condition of the bedroom and particularly the bathroom was dreadful. We wouldn't even shower there. Tap was broken, Cobwebs, dirty shower and floors. Really need a full refurbishment.

It was an ideal location for my trip. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The place had a welcoming feeling.

Issue with the hot water supply and the food was fair for a public house but needs to be better.

Friendly welcome, nice room although a little on the tired side. Lots of character in the building. Easy to find and good parking. Very good meal, good beer. Didn't see or hear any ghosts!

The only downside was the kitchen extract fan on the outside wall of the room. This ran all night and the humming noise reminded me of my time on a ship! I assume this had been left on in error as it must have cost a fortune in electricity.

The ‘suite’ we were staying in was grubby; there were cobwebs everywhere, and a dead bee was stuck near an upper window - caught in the cobwebs. It must have been there for weeks. In two of the three connected rooms, none of the electrical sockets worked.

The room was warm and spacious and well furnished. Big bed and nice towels. Appreciated the tea making facilities (but only 2 T-bags for a double room!) Plenty of parking and very convenient for Sparkford Hall

The room felt a bit dirty and tired - the bath had a scum ring, the sealant was very mouldy. I think the bed was clean but the quilt smelt strongly of another person so it felt like sleeping in a stranger's bed.

Staff were fantastic and went above and beyond! Especially Hayley!! Thank you so much!!!

The menu for lunch and dinner was very varied and the food was good. We ate in the bar area and also in the dining room, both of which were comfortable. Plenty of good off road parking. The bed was very comfortable.

We were surprised to be told that there was no breakfast served! This was not evident when researching places to stay. The room was very cold as only about a tenth of the radiator was warm and the windows did not close properly so let in icy air. The room was not serviced in the morning so we had to ask for extra tea and milk for the next morning. The shower was very difficult to regulate so we were either dowsed with cold water or boiling hot water.

The old feel, location was good for our trip

The fire doors are ruddy heavy so people ’just let them go’ and they banged loudly at all times. At least you know they are closed

Location for the museum was what we wanted. Dinner in the pub was lovely with great friendly staff. Room was comfortable, lovely and warm.

Nothing. The hotel was run down and falling apart, which wasn't surprising as it looked like it had been built/decorated by an 8 year old with his toy toolkit.

We had to wait 30 mins to check in because the chef had to finish lunch service and clean up, before he had time to make up our room. The only other member of staff was a young girl who was confused by simple questions like: "Which of the 2 keys you've just handed me are for the room, and which for the front door. One was a Yale type and the other a long dead lock type! She meant well and was friendly, and tried, I just think this was her first week, or even day, in the hospitality industry. We were told there was no food available, because.... you guessed it, the chef was making up our room and wouldn't restart food service after. There wouldn't be any drinks available after 5pm because the girl was locking the till and going home. They didn't do breakfast and when I asked about checkout I was told to just drop the key in the bucket as I left. The double bed was 2 singles pushed together, but not joined, so yes I slid down the gap in-between lol. The most comical bit of all was the TV + sofa room between our bedroom and the bathroom. A room which looked out over the car park, but had no curtains on its 2 windows! It made for an interesting "run the gauntlet" to get to the loo in the night. The reason there were no curtains... they'd been ripped down, the splintered bits of curtain pole were still up. There were only 2 plug sockets in the bedroom, 1 of which was in the far corner, so if like me you have something that needs to be plugged in (my CPAP) then you were out of luck for anything else. I could go on, but why spoil the surprise 😀

The staff were lovely and welcoming. The room was a bit dated but had everything we needed. Unfortunately our electric kept tripping, so had to find someone to sort this out a couple of times. They were helpful. The bed was comfy and there was enough coffee,tea and milk provided.

Having to find someone to sort out our electric issue, but they were very helpful. The shower!! Blimey, needs a new head as the water only came out in drips, not great when you want to wash your hair! Other than that, everything was fine.

The shower was dirty. The pump in the bathroom kept me awake all night. I couldn't access the internet. There was absolutely no information in the room. There was no shower gel or shampoo in the shower. There was no breakfast service. The previous evening I downloaded a discount code for the meal , wrote it down and showed it to a member of staff. This was not allowed because it wasn't on my phone or laptop. I couldn't address this because I couldn't get internet access. For my main course I had the steak and ale pie The crust was very hard; presumably, it had been left in the microwave too long.

Room was quirky but comfortable. Convenient for the wedding reception we attended.

No breakfast being served was a bit of a surprise. Fortunately McDonalds is just a 2 min drive away

It was close to the location of the venue I attended. The staff were very nice.

It was very basic. The booking.com advert said there was fruit in the room for guests and free toiletries but there was no fruit and only handwash. Unfortunately the venue didn’t do breakfast and that meant travelling a few miles in the car to another village.

A decent good value stopover for us on our way to the west coast. The pub staff and locals were friendly and the beer and pub grub adequate. Our room was quite large, we slept well and the bathroom facilities worked fine. Plenty of free parking.

Ideally it could do with a bit of a general refurb but then of course it may not be such good value?

Room was very poorly fitted out and decor tired, no proper shower, no hot water in evening and bed very uncomfortably. No breakfast available. Staff non existent. As guests, could not get into the bar at 10.30pm for a drink even though there were people in the bar.
