Lovely room with 4 poster bed. Very quiet location despite window onto road
Unfortunately room wasn't fully clean on arrival and no fridge which was booked. However despite this the gentleman on reception was very helpful, apologetic and understanding would still stay again
De ligging in het centrum.
Good honest pub, cracking breakfast
Breakfast! Comfy bed
Friendly atmosphere
Great property, beautiful interior. Room was very large, plenty of space for us, 2 adults and 2 children. Would absolutely stay again.
Shower was temperamental regarding the temperature, was either to hot or cold.
Comfortable room and very good food,
All good
Carol was so polite and helpful, told us place to go, as it was our first in the area it was very helpful. Made us feel most welcome. Welc
Na
The hotel was lovely, it was in a great location. The staff was lovely and welcoming.
a lovely old building. Very well kept and decorated. Had an evening meal in the restaurant which was lovely and good value for money. Bar was sensibly priced in comparison to some hotels. A friendly welcoming atmosphere which as a single female traveller was much appreciated.
The car park is quite small but Carol on reception was a great help in finding me a parking space.
Central location, very clean, good evening meal and friendly staff
Nothing
Staff are very lovely and accommodating
All of it staff food room very cosy
😁
Stayed here for 1 night with my partner and 3 grandchildren in the family room. The room far exceeded our expectations, it was absolutely huge with plenty of room for us all. The bathroom was huge and there was plenty of storage. The room was spotlessly clean, nothing more we could've asked for.
There was nothing we did not like
Immaculately clean
Car park spaces quite tight
Location was very good for me
No toiletries at all not even soap on the hand basin. WiFi unnecessarily complicated and only available at reception. I didn’t like the coffee.
The staff was nice, the location as well
The room itself was small and uncomfortable, and not so clean. Also no elevator. We did not go there during a noisy event at the pub/restaurant we can imagine this can happen as well.
Couldn't fault anything with our stay. Thoroughly enjoyed our two night there
We were in rom 203. We did have broken tiles in the bathroom and the carpet could do with a clean but any else was great.
Dinner & Breakfast were great quality and value.
Lack of on-site car parking spaces, though public p&d close by
Location and the downstairs facility.
Staff a little more friendly.
Lovely hotel, great location and staff were great.
Very hot in our allocated room, however staff moved us to a different room and gave us two fabs whivh helped alot.
Bed really uncomfortable
room was good value, comfortable bed. breakfast excellent, bar food also excellent
All good, a comfortable room at a very reasonable price in a really friendly character-full old hotel. The breakfast was excellent. We were travelling with a dog and that didn't cause any problems except the additional £10 charge.
Nothing really, the standard rooms aren't spacious but that goes with the price.
Price was good and location
No where to park the carpark was full
Comfy bed. Lovely nights sleep. Breakfast was great, tasty
Lovely pub food excellent and cheap can't fault anything
The room and whole place needs updating. We had lovely breakfast and the staff member was very friendly.
Hotel needs a refurb and also smells gutter ish.
Great links for overnight stay to break up a drive from south of England to Cumbria
Nothing to dislike
Great staff. The cooked breakfast was very good, excellent quality. Nice and quiet for a town centre Inn.
Small rooms, no Air con.... but this is a histroic old Inn, so understandable that a few things are quirky. If you are on the east wing, then road outside can be a little noisy especially if you have the window open due to heat. The continental breakfast (apart from the cooked) had very few choices for bread or pastries (actually, no choice i should say, sliced bread and nothing more)
The room was clean, comfortable and perfectly serviceable for my one-night stay. The location was convenient, with supermarkets and other amenities within easy walking distance, and the staff were lovely and very helpful. When I had difficulty with the hotel car park, they did their best to help and ultimately found me alternative parking in an adjacent car park, which I really appreciated.
The parking was by far the biggest issue for me and significantly affected my overall score. I specifically booked the hotel because it advertised on-site parking, but the entrance and parking spaces are extremely tight. I drive a Mini and still found manoeuvring in the car park so difficult and stressful that I seriously considered abandoning the stay and booking somewhere else. Other guests appeared to be experiencing similar difficulties, so this certainly wasn’t simply down to the size of my car or my driving. To their credit, the staff were very helpful and eventually found me alternative parking in an adjacent car park. I would strongly recommend that guests arriving by car contact the hotel beforehand to discuss parking arrangements.
Helpful, efficient friendly staff and comfortable room in this historic coaching inn. Very good dinner and breakfast. Good location with parking close to town centre.
A grab handle in the bath/shower would be very useful for people with mobility issues.
Breakfast was lovely. The bed was very comfortable. The room was very clean, however the sidetable just needed a once over because there was a little dust on the back of the table.
The wifi password should be contained in the welcome pack, rather than on a Poster wall near reception. We didnt know until the next morning when we spotted the q code and sign.
Great value and comfortable accommodation. Staff excellent. Bar food good
Incredibly helpful staff. My husband had a tie emergency- we were going to a wedding nearby- and a very helpful staff member went home to fetch him a selection to choose from! Amazing service.
Room was comfortable, hotel located ideally for the centre of Atherstone, breakfast was very good
Nothing...all good
Excellent breakfast
Staff were amazing as always, good evening meal, private of road parking
Rowdy group of 10 or more men, perhaps the staff may have dealt with this better as it was incredibly noisy whilst trying to eat and nearly got violent a couple of times, The room, the 4 poster bed had cobwebs all over it, the bathroom had hairs all over the floor and the storage closet was damp and we couldn't put clothes in there as it was smelly, maybe a drain issue from above. The complimentary tea and coffee was on offer but there was tea stains around the cups and we had to wash them before using them.
Staff were great and premises clean. Location brilliant for our needs
Could benefit from some air conditioning as room was quite stuffy but otherwise good.
Welcoming, clean, amazing staff. We stayed here a few years ago when we attended a wedding nearby so, when we were invited to a wedding at the same venue, we didn’t hesitate to book at the Red Lion again.
Lovely location and well presented. Room was clean and bathroom was nice.
The room was VERY small
Hotelito del pueblo, no es muy barato, pero está bien.
Sin desayuno incluido
Location
Bed very small
Lovely and spotlessly clean . Friendly staff
Really friendly and helpful. Very accommodating. Extremely good stay.
If I wanted to be picky maybe the fact that there was no table service for orders, but going to the bar to order was no big hardship.
We needed an overnight stay to break up a long journey, and Atherstone seemed like a reasonable place to stop. We weren't expecting anything special, but we were delighted that we picked the Red Lion, which proved to be an excellent choice. A shout out to the staff who were friendly, helpful and a credit to the establishment. Front of house staff organised some food just as the kitchen was closing and breakfast in the morning was first class. Cheerful service again, too. The room was clean and had everything we needed, including a very handy electric fan - a godsend given the heat. The girl on duty in the morning was really helpful in solving a problem with exiting the car park, as we were hemmed in! Many thanks to her. Atherstone is an interesting place with a few things to see and a good sense of history. We enjoyed a walk along the canal after dinner. One last tip, fill up with petrol in the town, massive savings on prices a few miles out!
There was nothing to dislike. The people in the local shops were very pleasant.
The staff were helpful and friendly .The hotel was an old coaching inn full of history and interest in the middle of the town . we came for just one night and a tribute act . which was good and the food was fantastic and tasty . the room was well looked after and clean . the bed was comfortable and there was plenty of tea making stuff in the room . a real pleasure to stay in.
we didn`t stay long enough to enjoy the breakfast and to look around all the different rooms of interest downstairs . probably stay a little longer next time
This was my first stay at the Atherstone Red Lion. Very helpful staff. Comfortable and well furbished room. Great breakfast. Will certainly use this hotel again,
No concerns.
Lovely place. Good value
Very very torn curtains in the room. Really let things down
The room was nice and clean throughout, good selection of tea/ coffee available and the beds were comfortable. Good gluten free toast too at breakfast!
Only small thing that could’ve been better would be to add some gluten free veggie sausages for breakfast.
Beautiful old building in a friendly town, shame the day staff weren't the same.
We recently stayed here for one night ahead of a trip to the NEC. I don’t normally write negative reviews or complaints, but our experience was so disruptive that I felt it important to share. On arrival, the reception team was very warm and thoughtfully offered us a room change, as a wedding was taking place directly below our original room. While we appreciated the gesture, it would have been helpful to be notified about the wedding prior to arrival. Our new room was lovely, but with no air conditioning (understandable given the age of the building), it desperately needed an electric fan and bottled water. Because the window had to remain open for air, we had a direct, awkward view down onto the wedding guests, and by late evening, the DJ volume became overwhelmingly loud and this comes from 2 rock music lovers who often attend gigs and festivals. You dont expect it that loud at a hotel stay. We decided to head out to explore the town and enjoyed a lovely chip shop dinner by the Shropshire Union Canal. Unfortunately, the issues started when we returned. The music blasted until midnight, and the heat in the room was unbearable. We didn't feel complaining at the time as we did not want to ruin that brides big day. To make matters worse, as soon as the music stopped, staff spent the next few hours loudly moving furniture to pack down and reset for another wedding the next day. We only managed about an hour of sleep, which was a terrible start to a long day ahead at Gardeners' World Live. Breakfast was another letdown. We chose the Red Lion specifically because breakfast started at 7:00am, allowing us to leave by our strict 7:30am deadline. After confirming this with reception at 7:00am, we realised 10 minutes later that our order hadn't even been sent to the kitchen. We had to chase the staff and downgrade our order to a bacon sandwich just to save time. When it finally arrived at 7:25am, the bacon was barely cooked.
Room was clean and spacious
Location and cleanliness
Very good hotel and very well looked after throughout. Good staff and nice bar also good food as well.
All good.
nice place to stay , i have stayed here a few times excellent
clean
Great staff
Noise from underneafh workers, kitchen/cleaners
My room was perfectly clean. Breakfast was a bit on the heavy side for me and I would have preferred slice of cold meat and cheese rather than cooked breakfast. However, the food going out to other guests having breakfast looked good and judging by the empty plates tasty. Staff were lovely.
The room was extremely hot due to high temperatures. The hotel did their best by supplying a table style fan in room which was okay if you were right beside it!
Location and facilities
Bathroom was a dirty
Great location for us. Friendly, helpful staff who went above and beyond to help us out.
Room was a bit warm but we are in the middle of a heatwave
Great location, staff were friendly and very helpful. They even text me while I was out to let me know we had left the lights on, on one of our motorcycles.
Room was very hot but we are having a heat wave….
Comfortable rooms and a nice bar and cafe. Very helpful and friendly staff. Decent food. Very good value for money.
Was nice and friendly, great location
Was dirt and hairs in bath, and eyelashes in bed 😬
Price and location
Menu is poor Rooms are hot
The location to where we were going.
Nothing. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
The service was excellentfriendley and helpful
Being told to leave for the way I look
Ryan and colleagues were amazing
All fine
Good value. Smallish but comfortable room. Food very acceptable.
Initial male staff member at reception quite casual/off-hand. Other staff all very good,
Free parking, staff very friendly especially Carol, good ambience lovely period lounge area.
Sunday dining time finishing at 6pm !... we only arrived at 5pm so it was a bit of a rush to get down for food.
Friendly welcome. Room was clean and was a decent size. Good shower and lots of tea and coffee provided. Car park an advantage (took last space when we arrived).
Bed was a bit hard and high. Windows opening onto main street meant was noise late at night.
Convenient location
Staff chasing for a payment
The exceptional kindness of the staff
Unfortunatly my stay was during a hear wave. The tempreture nin my room must hae exceeded 30 degrees. For a disabled person of 86 years that is a dangerous situation to be in.
The service from the staff was excellent
Great position for whst we needed Good that they accepted dogs too Clean and comfortable
Very small
Lovely hotel. Staff very helpful.
Good parking, friendly staff, comfortable bed, pleasant, clean quiet room, excellent breakfast and a pleasant environment conveniently situated.
The room was quite warm at night. If you can, a guest ale would be a nice addition.
Comfy bed, value for money, friendly staff, free parking, good food which was excellent value, very clean.
Lovely old inn in heart of small town Comfortable bed, good shower Good parking Great breakfast Nice staff
Bit noisy on a Saturday night but that’s unavoidable
Everything ! From the minute you walk through the door, and greeted by the most welcoming staff. Immaculate rooms, fantastic food, we didn't want to leave
There was nothing to dislike
Noisy, there was a party below the room. Very small room but clean.
TV in my room not working.
Great room lovely staff
Washed my hair to find there was no hair dryer in the room
Room was well decorated and in good condition, clean.
Clean room, good shower, excellent location, free parking, super friendly staff
The staff were excellent for us and a special mention for Carol who was very helpful
Friendly helpful staff
The room and bathroom were great, breakfast was delightful, the staff were pleasant and the aesthetic of the building internally was beautiful
I can't think of anything to say I didn't like
Absolutely spotless room ..looked like it was recently refurbished..staff were exceptional in helping anyway they could..100percent recommend...could have stayed longer if I needed ..🤣
Nothing at all
The central location and the staff are brilliant.
The position right in the middle of main street through Atherstone. Ideal location to explore the local area
Location
In the drawer there was an old babies bottle that had green contents. Also there was a plate there.
room was ok , but noises from neighbouring room were loud banging ,shouting ,we were moved on request but not a great deal better slamming doors music blaring from car in car park
Good location for my needs
The food was very standard. Had the fish and chips, not good.
Lovely place, good atmosphere, parking, nice room, warm and clean, quality towels bedding etc hood selection for hot drinks, pleasant staff
Bit noisy in the evening, music. Bed bit lumpy, only just enough hot water for a shallow bath
Location and staff
That we could not access the property after midnight
The room was clean and spacious. There was parking available at the rear of the property. All the staff were very polite and friendly. The hotel is situated on the main street near all the facilities.
Unfortunately our mattress was uncomfortable as the springs were old it definitely needed replacing. There was a small heater in the room that wasn't sufficient to heat the room properly. There was quite alot of noise within the hotel with doors banging in the night and early morning.
Lovely clean room Friendly staff and helpful Great location
The mattress...very uncomfortable
