J&R Residence

The hotel itself is quite nice and the room Was good until I walked into the bathroom at night time, turned the light on and saw about 20 cockroaches scatter across the room. I told the owner at check out but she was pretty nonchalant about it. It wasn’t cheap so i didnt expect for there to be sooo many cockroaches in the bathroom.

Really perfect location and staff are amazing. The owners live on location and are super helpful with all your needs. Highly recommended

Its beautifully located just vy the sea, with a small but cozy strip of beach just beside it. The room was very clean and spacious with a lovely garden in front of it. Wifi worked very well. The common area was nice with spots for chilling on a lounge chair and the restaurant/reception had a great view. The pool was however not very well mantained, so it wasnt to inviting to go swimming in. The food was ok. Staff were friendly and helpful, as they often are in the Philippines. It is a calm, nice place, with great scenery and the price was very good in relation to what you got. So, all in all we enjoyed it (we stayed 2 nights). PS: There's a cute village nearby, so recommended is to hire a motorbike and go there and other excursions in the area.

We stayed in the family studio for 4 nights and loved every second of it! The view, the room, the food and the service. It is total relaxation with the possibility to go on trips eg. on the hotels boat. We also got a very nice massage on location with a view of the sea. We only used the pool due to low tide at the Beach.

Beautiful property, well-maintained, tentative staff, great food worth every penny kind of out of the way you need a car or you have to arrange some other way to get around

This is a beautiful resort. It is a 2 hour drive from the port but well worth it. Once there, they have everything you will need including sightseeing packages. The restaurant food is cooked to order and very good selection. The rooms are clean, updated, and beautiful. The views of ocean are amazing. This place is truly a paradise

This place is in a beautiful spot and the food was delicious! The swimming pool has a great view of the ocean and there is easy acces to the ocean. My only issue was that there is not much else in the immediate area, so youd have to get a ride into town or anywhere else really. But overall a great getaway if you are looking for a quiet spot with a view!

The attention given to details in this resort is not found in other resorts. I have traveled the world for decades and there is no question this is one of if not the best relaxing resort that I have ever been to. We will be going back!!

Very nice small hotel with a great view and nice private beach. There is a pool with several lounge chairs to relax and it is immediately next to a small bar and outdoor restaurant seating area. The staff are all friendly and helpful. There is even a small boutique onsite. I’ve stayed twice now and expect to visit again. Since the owners live onsite snd all the staff lives nearby they have a good network of support services available like spa, diving, tours, activities etc. They will send their driver to store or take you if you need anything but there isn’t much else in Anda. 2 other small hotels not far in either direction along the coast in case you want to try different menu….depends upon how long you are staying. The menu at J&R is varied and good. Breakfast is excellent. Since it’s about 2 hours from airport I suggest you organize ahead the hotel van to meet you if needing transportation

Jilo / Ralf the proprietor are wonderful gracious Hostess/Host you ever find . been traveling allover the world and never have a one on one wonderful treatment with the owner/manager... the resort is very clean , food were deliss and all the employees are very nice and wonderful. I will definetly be back if and when I'm in this part of town.

Die Lage, die Natur und diese Ruhe - ein kleines Paradies zum Erholen! Keine Menschenmassen, kein Lärm und keine Musik am Pool. Entspannung pur. Sehr gutes Personal das immer um einen bemüht ist. Sofort bekommt man immer und überall Wasser und frische Gläser gebracht. Jederzeit kann man sich Essen von der Karte bestellen. Totale Freiheit!

A beautifull silent Romantic Place like in Heaven. Perfect Service.

We felt very unwelcome there, felt like the owner did not like Filipinos, and he certainly does not like kids from the way that he treated us. Not a family friendly establishment, despite the fact they claim "children are welcome". Furthermore a bit of a hypocrite, there are two dogs on the premise, often hanging around the restaurant and barking at night, yet they have "no pet no service animals" policy... We felt like the owner treats his dogs better than he treated us... will not stay here again.

If you have children - AVOID THIS PROPERTY LIKE A PLAGUE! When we first checked in we were shown the rooms, they looked very good and high-end, the views were great too. Then i asked about wifi - i was informed that owner does not give wifi password to employees or guests, that i am supposed to give them my laptop or phone and owner will connect the device to wifi...This was very unprofessional, after i pointed that out an employee was able to give me the password. Later we informed employees we booked all available rooms for the next day and that our family will join us - total 7 adults 7 kids including us. We ordered a roll-away bed in one of the rooms to make sure everyone was accommodated, and it appeared we were at an agreement with the resort. When we later spoke with the owner he said "yes i know" in regards to our big family arriving. When our family arrive, of course kids went to use the pool, right away we could feel the tension. Later we over-heard the owner's wife yelling at the employees for allowing so many people to check in, AFTER we had an agreement! That night the owner was sitting at the bar sulking ignoring us completely even after my wife tried to talk to him and say hi... he even scolded my child for pinching flower!!! When we approached the owner about this behaviour he was defensive and said "leave a review". We left one day early... nobody should go through this so PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM HERE. White privileged adults only - should be the name.

Ljust och trevligt, högt beläget litet hotel med glad och pigg ägarinna som ser till att gästerna trivs. Vacker utsikt mot havet direkt från rummet och balkongen. God frukost. Det som vi upplevde som nackdel var att det var svårt att bada på morgonen pga ebb och tråkig havsbotten. Hotellet har en underbar båt för snorkelutflykter. Rekommenderas: levande koraller och stora sköldpaddor. Trevlig personal. Safe saknades på rummet. Tyst och ny AC. Bra myggnät trots få mygg. Välskött trädgård.

Great location, peaceful with great access to long walks along the beach. Well maintained property, with clean beach front and public areas. Loved the hammock to read, the outdoor restaurant and super friendly service. Interesting menu with a german twist. The owner was present, friendly and helpful; arranged my day tour of Bohol and a scuba dive outing via a nearby property with certified diving facilities. Only stayed a weekend and would have loved more days to try their snorkeling, kayaking, etc. I hope to be back!

My husband and I traveled the Philippines for our 25Th wedding anniversary and this was, by far, the best and most beautiful hotel we came across. We wished, we could have stayed a little longer. It's a small paradise, clean, comfortable with friendly and caring staff, directly on the ocean with a clean beach and great food. Don't hesitate to book this place, you won't regret it.

We loved our stay at the J&R Residence. The staff was very friendly, the premises and our room was beautiful, the food delicious. We rented a Kajak and went snorkeling just outside the Residence and it was magical. Highly recommend this place!

The J&R Residence is two hours from the airport so we recommend that you arrange for Lando, the very capable, safe and considerate driver from J&R to collect you in their comfortable car. J&R is more of a B&B with a restaurant than a hotel, which reflects the way it has developed. Everything is well maintained and spotlessly clean and the staff are welcoming and friendly. It is a great place to relax for a few days, in peace and quiet. There are other resorts nearby so you can easily get a variety of food and if the tide is not high you can walk to White Beach at Anda along the sand. Either walk back or get a tricycle (an experience in itself on the last part of the road). The rooms are clean and tidy but very basic. No TV (who cares) but no tea making facilities, a tiny wardrobe arrangement and uncomfortable furniture. Don't bother trying to read in bed - the lighting is far too dim. Internet connection is slow. The airconditioning is effective. If you have limited mobility it would be wise to request a room at the top level as all the others have a lot of steep steps with no handrails. The manicured lawns and gardens are inviting and there are shady spots to sit and listen to the waves.

Was amazing view and location was remote u only can relax there food was great and fresh gay friendly and very caring to help you at anytime love this place heaven on earth definitely return again for sure

Stayed at dozens of places in the Philippines and J&R is definitely on the short list of favorites. The room was the cleanest hotel room ive ever stayed in. The restaurant was amazing and considering there are 5 rooms the variety of food offered was impressive. The staff was so friendly as were the owners who live on site. There is snorkeling/kayaking directly off the beach. And speaking of friendly the residents of the town are some of the most friendly people ive met in the Philippines. If you looking for a laid back chill location i doubt you could find a better tmown than Anda and you cannot go wrong with a stay at J&R's.

Very well kept rooms, grounds and hotel overall. Except for a few hours of high tide covering the beautiful beach it’s amazing place. Especially if you like a small crowd. Great staff and food also.

Jilo and Ralph with their amazing staff made our stay unforgettable. Amazing food, breathtaking views and so much care and joy. You feel at home from the very first moment and we absolutely regretted only booking 4 nights as we could have stayed forever. So romantic!

I had an amazing time staying at this resort. It was quiet, clean and beautiful. The rooms are huge and vwry clean. The owners are wonderdul and are always engaging with tbeir guest. They're also very attentive to our needs. If you want to get away from the noise in yhe city, this is a great place to go. Food is great. The management can always arrange for transpo if you want to see other places. A big thimbs up gor this hotel.

The hosts, staff, facilities, cleanliness, food, location ... Everything is perfect. We were reluctant to leave this idyllic residence. Highly recommend it. Deserves full marks.

Wir waren im Februar 2017 in diesem Hotel und wir hatten einen perfekten Aufenthalt! Die Zimmer sind ruhig, sauber und mit viel Sorgfalt eingerichtet. Besonders gut fanden wir den Service, auch das Restaurant hat uns gut gefallen. Bei uns blieben keine Wünsche offen! Wer Ruhe sucht ist hier genau richtig. Wir waren jeden Tag direkt vor dem Hotel schnorcheln und waren begeistert. Wir haben viele Nacktschnecken, Garnelen, Krebse, Krugfische, Muränen, Langhornkofferfische usw. gesehen. Wer viele bunte Rifffische sehen möchte sollte eher einen Schnorchelausflug per Boot unternehmen. Empfehlen würde ich den Transfer vom Flughafen. Bedanken möchte ich mit bei Ralf und seinem Team!

Staying at the J&R Residence was totally great to relax and detach from work. Delicious food and awesome service. WiFi needs improvement. I can totally recommend staying here.

First of all let me say this was a hidden gem! I wanted to be away from the tourist spots for some R&R and found this place in Anda. Nothing but great reviews from other guest,so I thought I would give them a try. It was about about 2 hour drive from the city but it was a smooth ride. Did not have to deal with the traffic like in manila. When me and my girlfriend first arrived,we were promptly greeted by the owner Ralph and later on his Wife Jlo..he showed us around their property and ensured us if we need anything to let them know because they actually live on the resort. Nothing but great hospitality from the start. The property itself is amazing! Secluded and peaceful. Our apartment view was to die for with our own balcony to relax and have breakfast/dinner if you choose too. They have their own restaurant on site which the food was amazing and tasty. Nice infinity pool. Staff was great and attentive. You can tell the strive for excellence and taking care of their guest. Overall nothing bad to say about this place cause we had a amazing stay! They know how to take care of their guest and by far a wonderful resort to relax in if you just want to get away. Trust me you won't be disappointed. Thanks to the lovely owners and staff. We will definitely want to come back if we ever go back to bohol. This place is highly recommended!!! 5 stars and more in my book!

We highly recommend staying here! Jilo and Ralf were amazing hosts and we were in absolute relax mode as soon as we arrived for our 3 night stay.

I didn't want to do this but what the owner did to us was unacceptable and I think everybody should know about it. I came from Hawaii and I just went on vacation to spend time with my family. Spent days looking for the best resort in Anda, Bohol and J&R was the one I chose because of the good reviews they have online. So we went there. The staff were very welcoming and the resort was indeed beautiful. My brothers and cousins (ages from 12-17 y/o) jumped for joy the minute they saw the pool. So they went ahead and enjoyed the place (which was their very first experience). Minutes later there was this lady on the second floor of the building yelling at my brothers, telling them to quiet down/remain calm because there are other guests. I didn't know who that was but my brothers did try to calm down from their excitement. The lady still isn't satisfied so she went down and talked to us again in an inappropriate manner and with a loud voice. "If you continue to make noise you should go to the public beach not here!" she said. I wanted to know who she was so I asked and her reply was "I'm the owner here!" with her hands on the waist. I wish I had my camera to record everything she have said. I do understand that she wanted to make a good impression to the foreign tourists but to communicate in that way especially to the children? I'm surprised she was the owner! I was very disappointed with the way she approached us. Is that how you treat all of your customers? Or is it because

My wife and I stayed for four days over Chinese New Year. We were looking for a place that would be relaxing after a tough few weeks at work. This was perfect for that. We were able to switch off completely in the quiet environment listening to nothing but the waves. The staff were great and always attentive. The rooms were a good size and clean. The resort is quite remote which is what we were looking for. The small town of Anda was about a 30 minute walk along the beach. Make sure you wear sun block. Or you can call for a motorbike taxi to drive you there. The resort has a restaurant, but you can try the other restaurants in the resorts nearby. There are few day trips available which the hotel offers, so you will not be stuck for something to do.

Our whole stay at J&R Residence was marvelous. The Owners have built a Paradise in Paradise with the minimal concept (no music and no TV - peace); only the sound of the wind in the trees, the waves on the beach and the birds. It is a great place to relax with marvelous sunrises and sunsets accross to wide views of the Ocean. All the staff were very friendly and efficiaent. The menue is comprhensize, both Western, Asian and Philippine and all food is freshly cooked. They took special attention to arranging a Birthday dinner on the beach for us with a great cake. We will deffinately be going back soon... Thank you.
