Staff were pleasant, very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the evening meal on the first night, as the food was good.
It was tired and grubby in places. The breakfast really let it down. Very little available on the continental menu. No pastries, cold meat or cheese. Fruit looked old. Poor quality. Never known such a lack of items on display for a continental breakfast. It seemed there were concerns about the amount of items that you might actually take. So disappointed that we didn’t actually have breakfast on the second day.
Was very clean, had a good shower/bath, lovely breakfast, all staff were friendly and helpful , plenty of parking, very good
Bed was very low, didn’t have legs, my wife who is disabled couldn’t get up from bed, I had to assist her every time she wanted to get up
Very friendly and good food
Nothing
Clean and comfortable. Room even had its own patio. Easy parking. I ate in their restaurant and the food was very good - the vegetables were especially well cooked. Their tomato and mushroom at breakfast was also very tasty.
Though the room had kettle and cups there were no tea bags, coffee or milk etc. I mentioned this at the bar and thought that I had been told it would be sorted. It wasn't. I had a problem with the door lock which wouldn't open from the inside. I even phoned the hotel/pub for help but got a leave a message recording. Eventually used a little extra force which did just get the door open. Once the door had been locked and opened from the outside the lock operated normally. I'm a little concerned that if the hotel staff fail to find the lock malfunctioning, it could end up trapping an unfortunate guest in the future.
Location . Big car park
Had to be away before 8am each morning and breakfast only served after 8am. Should state this online
Good location plenty of parking.
Rooms way too hot a fan in the room would have been ideal. But we are in a heatwave!
Good location, friendly staff and decent breakfast. We also ate there one evening and food was good with very helpful staff
Room was modern, clean, comfortable.
The room cooling device was not very effective. Food prices seemed a little high.
All fine. Good food. Good location for the Broads & coast.
Room and corridor starting to look a little tired. But fine.
Evening staff so friendly and helpful.
Morning/breakfast staff a bit difficult, e.g if you had the hot breakfast option you werent also allowed a banana or slice of toast. As this counted as 'continental' option.
Aware this is a 2 star property, the room I stayed in lived up to the rating as there was a lot of negatives as shown in the pictures. The downstairs part of the inn was very nice, lovely dining area and also dog friendly breakfast area. The bar area was nice and has a TV. There is a large garden area with benches. The dining and bar areas are clean and tidy and the overall outside view is as shown on the website. Parking is adequate and controlled that you must put in your car registration in the bar area so you don’t get a fine
As mentioned the room needs up dating and more storage area for a deluxe room (room 1) the plumbing needs to be addressed as using the shower the bath fills up as the water doesn’t flow out quick enough. Very small sink that you can’t barely wash in it.
Small village feel
Nothing
Very central for the area. Staff were excellent and the food was too.
The building needs an uplift, our bedroom door lock kept jamming, our window wouldn't open and the fan in our room only threw hot air out when we needed cool!
Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and comfortable.
Nothing.
Food was good and staff very friendly
Room was very very tired and needed a good lick of paint and tidy up. There was a light falling off the all , paint chipped on all the wall and bathroom very basic and needs attention. Defo not worth what we paid for 2 nights
Nice hotel, everything clean and tidy.
Everything was fine, though could have done with an iron and board in the room
I really liked the pub, the room was a bit small and had a balcony which I really liked, the bed was very low and as I have a back and knee problem, it made getting in and out of bed a issue. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was great
Bed was very low
18th century quirks, plenty of room inside and out. Staff are excellent and very friendly. Food quality is great if a little pricey.
Place needs some fine tuning, some re thought in some areas.
Nothing much
Our room had nowhere to hang clothes other than a chair. Had new carpet fitted but could hardly open the door where it's catching. No mirror other than in bathroom (wife's issue) They obviously had to force entry into the room at some point the repair to inside of door was very poor. Bathroom door no lock. Beware lever latch I caught my side with it once when exiting. Poorly laid flooring in bathroom. Shower side panel poorly finished off. Breakfast room. 1st morning had to ask for a table to be cleared, also had to ask for it to be cleaned as they were just going to set up without doing so. Had to ask for a bowl for the cereal, had to ask for glasses for warm fruit juices. Yogurts placed in an old plastic container warm(try putting some ice in the bottom) Resteraunt area looked ok but the rest of the building looked dirty and neglected. No better outside I'm afraid no scaffold board shortage here ! I'm all for recycling if it done with a bit of finesse. Breakfast chef we had 2 over the 3 days and neither could muster a smile looked totally fed up, hope the owners treat them better than the building. Needs a total refurbishment by someone who knows what they are doing.
Nice menu for a bite to eat
Nothing really at the end of the day it’s a pub and restaurant
Everything
NA
Only 1 bath towel in room (just comment not complaining)
The bed was so comfy the bath was really large the food was beautiful the staff were really nice the room was a bit tired the breakfast and evening meal was so good we really enjoyed our stay and will return
Nothing it was all really nice
All looked good on arrival, large car park, greeted well on booking in, given key to room . The breakfast was one place it did excel at, both our breakfasts were good.
We found a wall light beside bed snapped off and cables exposed. Went to have a shower and could only have freezing cold one as the thermostatic tap end was total seized up. One of the hottest days of year and after being out in Norwich all day was looking forward to a shower and change before evening meal. The wife declined a cold shower u like me. The room was hot and a small heater / circulating fan was in room, but no where near big enough to help. But we had it on all night and guess at least it circulated something. The rooms are a bit dated, but certainly there felt like something was going for it. Maybe a proper plug hole fitting in sink instead of a hole that as the wife said, she feared herring coming of and disappearing by accident. The building had got a lot going for it and is set up to entertain, but if it’s lost it’s locals through not having beer and the bedrooms are not kept up with repairs, then this place is staring at a blank future, and that is just how it felt.
Nothing
Everything. It was dirty, paint flaking off the walls, it was a rip off! The food was awful.
Lovely friendly atmosphere and excellent food.
Convenient location for parking
The room (2) needs redecoration Room lacks a wardrobe or facility to hang clothes Shower hot water was temperamental Key to room had to be wrestled out of lock - even by staff
The lady who booked us in and evening staff were very helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The cooked breakfast was also very good. There is plenty of parking available.
The room was very tired, with peeling paint in the bathroom and damage to the shower head. The room was noisy (albeit we were facing onto the main road), with a street light directly opposite. It also didn't help when cleaning and hoovering commenced at 6:30am on a Sunday morning. Breakfast service was very poor, with an apparent issue between the chef and lady serving, which caused a bit of an uneasy atmosphere. Although a 'continental' breakfast option was offered, there were no details or real explanation of what was available and had to settle for some yoghurt, toast and jam. The cups were also dirty and when we requested clean ones, the lady server remarked that she didn't get paid enough for this!
Staff were friendly and approachable and made a fuss of the dogs. We arrived earlier than planned and the rooms were ready so we were able to access straight away. The beer garden was lovely to sit in. We had the room with the balcony which was really good for our dogs to chill out on while we were in the room getting ready. Our evening meal was lovely and all dietary requirements were catered for.
We found this place a bit tired and dated. The bedside wall light wasn't secure. Tea and coffee selection was limited however couldn't have any due to the limescale in the kettle. There was no disabled access to the rooms upstairs. Access was via a spiralling stair which was difficult for my mother in law who needs a walking stick. Breakfast was more than adequate however the options for continental breakfast was limited. The bananas on offer were past their best. We also had to request cold cuts and cheese however were lovely when they came. It would have been nice to have both fresh orange/apple juices as well as tea/coffee with breakfast as only the first drink is included.
very reasonably priced and ideally situated. The staff were friendly and accommodating and loved the dogs
room was a little too hot
Breakfast was ok but it should include extra toast and at lease another cup of tea or coffee Plus coffee was cold
Saturday staff lady was very good but Sunday was a different story We felt they couldn’t be bothered and both very miserable
Convenience to the locations I wanted be
The selection and quality of the food was excellent
Everything was fine
Ontbijt OK. Diner goed. Ligging voor mij strategisch, dus goed. Geen hinder van verkeerslawaai.
kamer erg klein.
Breakfast was included and was nice
It needed a lot of updating and a great deal of cleaning and maintenance, new duvets and proper pillows not cushions to sleep on.
It’s convenient for where I need to be and relatively inexpensive.
Room 1 and the changes they’ve made to the included breakfast. Room 1 has badly fitted and had temperamental door locks which resulted in me being stuck in the bathroom in the early hours of the morning because I couldn’t get the door open and scraped knuckles because the room door lock is fitted upside down and too close to the door frame. It’s probably the smallest room described as “Deluxe” that I have ever stayed in! It has a “vanity’ type tiny sink in the bathroom because there isn’t room for a normal sink and I bruised my leg on the bed frame whilst trying to get round it to open the very heavy sash type window. The room is located on the front of the building which means it’s almost impossible to get a good nights sleep, there’s also a loud, deep humming sound which doesn’t stop until very late and starts again very early the next day. The changes they’ve made to the included breakfast are ridiculous and confusing. The menu now states that you can have either continental or English and only one drink is included, if you want orange juice you have to ask for it but both the orange juice and the coffee are both sat on a “help yourself” table in the corner of the room!! They’ve breakfast itself was lovely and plentiful but it’s the only place I have ever been which serves streaky bacon and not back bacon and limits how many coffees you can have. As for the staff, the waitress in the evening wasn’t very happy to have my husband interrupt her cashing up (at 10.30 which meant no drink before bed) to open room 1 because the lock wasn’t operating properly and he couldn’t get in to the room. However the waitress in the morning was really nice and very helpful. The only good thing about this “pub” now is the fact that it’s in the centre of Acle and not on a garage forecourt like the travel lodge!
Food was nice room was nice
No towels on hottest day of the year p
Dog friendly,including for breakfast
Maybe due an upgrade
Its a pub
Excellently located for walking the Weavers' Way. Friendly staff, comfortable rooms, great food.
Lovely stay. We took our Border Terrier for 3 nights and everyone was very welcoming
All good
The food was good and the bar staff were friendly
Lack of staff Dated decor Rude chef
Great service friendly staff, good food, rooms clean spacious
No doggie bins in garden , but dog friendly pub , Basic Rooms
Location near family/train/bus stop!
Great breakfast, comfortable bed and pillows. Tea making in the room. Good TV.
Refused dinner after 7pm with excuse of'large party' arriving later that didn't materialise. Room needed a spring clean.
Very friendly staff and excellent food
The room looked a bit tired but fantastic value for money
Very friendly and welcoming, chatty staff members and breakfast was delicious
Need to have someone more attentive to guests at breakfast as had to look for somebody to get some attention
The staff on duty (not managers) were friendly and supportive. The food was exceptional.
On booking in, I was given a key to a room that was already occupied. Given the recent high-profile cases of this problem at other hotels, I was particularly disappointed. I was unable to speak to a manager about it and offered them the change to call me. Nobody bothered to reach out - really poor management! The room was reasonably comfortable but there was black mould around the bath and the shower temperature dial was really stiff… unless you are VERY strong then you will be forced to take a shower at the same temperature as the last guest… who you quite possibly met when you walked in on them earlier in the day!!!
The breakfast was great, also the meal I had the night before was good too
Bed wasn't that comfy,no mirror in room
Again Sarah who does the breakfast service was exemplary, she makes all the difference every time we stay, she is so friendly helpful and such an asset
Would be good to have an iron and irons board avaliable
Breakfast was very good first time ever I had steak and eggs for breakfast, the stake came under done , no trouble the chef attended to it and gave me back a well done steak.
Not much ,I know the area, and the pub , cannot really improve on the efficiency and friendliness of the staff or comfort of the beds.
The staff are really friendly. The breakfasts were lovely. Pub was great. The bath towels were lovely and fluffy and nice and big. The bed was huge. The shower had very good power and lovely and warm. Love the black taps etc. and the colour scheme.
We changed from room 1 to room 7 as it was bigger. It had also been done up, room 1 was a bit tired, and was lovely but there are a couple of tweaks that would make it really good. 1- the shower is in completely the wrong place. It’s a fabulous shower. Nice flow but just couldn’t get under it properly as it’s facing the width of the bath not the length. Most bizarre! The bath mat had holes in it. Shame as the towels were lovely and new. There wasn’t a mirror so I couldn’t sit at the dressing table to do my makeup and hair. It also would be nice to have a lamp near the sofa bed and some of the new paintwork needs tidying up as it’s on the wood beam and skirting boards.
Great location (near my sister’s house!) and the Broads and easy to reach by bus and train.
The bed was extremely comfortable and the room had recently been decorated.
The room was badly thought out. The bathroom would have been better with a walk in shower as the bath was difficult to get in and out of. The bath/shower had a fixed perspex splash instead of a curtain so it would have been difficult to use as a bath anyway. There was only a small mirror in the bathroom which made it difficult for the two of us to get ready in the morning, especially my wife , and there was nowhere to place your toiletries.A mirror in the bedroom instead of a picture would have been ideal especially as there was a light over the picture. One of the bedside cabinets was partially blocking the entrance to the bathroom ( about 8 inches) which I caught my leg on in the middle of the first night.A narrower cabinet would be better.
Perfect location to explore the Broads
Firstly we got a lovely welcome from the young lady behind the bar, collected key the room was the deluxe room with balcony totally 👌 perfect, the breakfast in the mornings was top class everything that was needed we will certainly be coming back, we must also give a big thank you 😊 to all staff.
I think above says it all Cannot praise enough it made our Easter weekend break fabulous. Big than you again......
The restaurant side is Excellent 10/10 Staff are really friendly 10/10 Bar are and restaurant very clean and well presented, car park big BUT you must register the car inside or you will get fined Great towels nice big and soft
Shower head very poor, leaking and squirts all over the place, only one bedside drawer that faces wrong way bed slightly lumpy but ok
Excellent value for money, breakfast was excellent
Wish we booked room 3 as has a patio for the dog
Nice room, big bath to luxuriate in. Really good food in the restaurant plus good breakfast.
Not much around but handy to major areas.
Shout to Alexandria, she was very friendly and helpful. She is an asset to your business. Thank you
Excellent shower, comfortable bed, good breakfast, good to be able to book a single room when travelling alone (not many hotels offer that).
Sound proofing was very poor, the outer door squeaked and there was a lot of coming and going during the night so was quite a lot of disturbance.
Breakfast passable
Just need to up their game.. Staff were off I think… Was better on the Monday and Tuesday
Clean , warm with friendly staff Breakfast was nice too. We tried the steaks one evening, and they were lovely. There was only one member of staff who worked the bar and the restaurant who worked like a Trojan. Service was slow as a result but he was very good, polite and apologised (we weren’t in a hurry)
Plumbing had some minor problems that didn’t affect our stay but were irritating.
Clean and friendly
Shower leaking
My room was clean, cosy and comfortable. Hot shower. Clean sheets and bedding, fluffy clean towels.
Carpets not fresh
We stayed 2 nights it was the best english breakfast I have had consistant both mornings. The Chef was a really nice chap who took pride in his food. Excellent service by the woman working as well. We will be coming for breakfast again and will stay again thank you.
We liked everything.
