Bed - bit old and soft but not too bad - not up to Premier Inn's bed standards
The knocking noise in the plug hole and the windows were draftee as couldn't properly close
Location
Everything was lovely from the staff to the rooms.
Location, dog friendly, looked after well. Staff accommodating for any changing needs.
Nothing to say. All good.
Nothing
The room the breakfast was terrible no tables had to clear our table before could sit down no coffee no orange juice the food was very poor eggs solid not cooked to order bacon was very salty and full of fat
Friendly reception staff Dog bed and bowls in room
Room noisy. Radiator rattled all night . Next to front door. Hot tap sink didn't work
Staff were excellent and extremely helpful. Breakfast was outstanding. Location was brilliant for travelling to Berkeley Castle for a wedding. Both rooms we had were clean but first one was very tired looking.
Our first room on night one had an adjoining door to room next door. The bed was rock hard and very thin cheap pillows that need upgrading. Unfortunately 2 lads were next door and kept us awake from 10.30pm till 4am - despite a warning from the duty manager. In the morning after 2hrs sleep we spoke to reception and they upgraded us to a different room, which was pleasant enough but unfortunately the bed was rock hard and had the same cheap pillows. Also it would be very helpful if reception could arrange taxis for your guests.
It was a lovely room - very quiet and just what was needed
Really convenient location and good value for money
The wifi could have been a bit more stable
Clean, no fuss hotel, slightly dated rooms with shower over bath, but acceptable.
Restaurant was a let down. Food was at best ok. Not really close to Italian food, more like general home cooking. Staff were very amateurish, not very educated in Allergies.
Tidy and clean. Small and friendly.
Location, bed was comfy.
Bathroom taps were faulty, bathroom heater was filthy
The area was nice and scenery.
I don't do bad reviews but this is because it was my Mum stopping. Room could do with decorating. Was not the room i booked. My Mum had to wait 30mins to check in after she had arrived because the receptionist could not find her booking. I had to call and tell her it was booked with another person at the same time because i was the one who booked them. Receptionist said it was not put on the list and i'm sorry but that is not our fault it's between Booking.com and the hotel. The room i booked was no longer available on ground floor, my Mum is a 70yr old women with knee problems, just got her sitting there when i already told her she has an appointment within that 30mins of her being there. Mum was distraught knowing she drove there and had to unknowingly wait.
Staff were very friendly. Easy to park, wifi is included. Great location as not far from the motorway.
I may be tall but my arm could not reach the loos roll as it was attached to the washup base which was more than an arm away from the loo. The bed wasnt comfortable. Breakfast could be a bit better as bacon was overdone.
Staff and bar staff really friendly. Bed was very comfy and close to motorway.
Was boiling hot and there’s no air on, there was a fan but it might as well have not been there. Very uncomfortable. Can’t imagine if you had kids or were elderly. The bathrooms was just acceptable as clean. Hair around and lots of marks and streaks on everything. Looks like it needs a deep clean all over really.
Location
No particular issue
Quiet room requested and allocated on arrival
Nothing
Handy for seeing my daughter
Somewhat dated
Convenient for our stay
Only gripe possibly shower a bit tight and a step up & down too-
Great stay which was very convenient while travelling on M5.
The staff were lovely and very accommodating
Looking a bit tired and the rooms did vary with the standard of furnishings. A lift to the upper floor would be ideal.
The continent breakfast
We had booked a table in the restaurant But on arrival we were advised by other guests that the food was not up to standard (small potions &expensive) We did notice a lot of people sending their food back!! Went to order drinks at the bar No soft drink ( out of gas) Only had 1 bottle of slimming tonic Ran out of Gin glass!! Had to wait for the girl behind the bar to go and wash some !!
Lovely room, all that we required was there. Very good shower.
Nothing
Food, staff
Room 227was by noisy A38. Had to close windows because of noise and temperature was over 30degrees
Nice and clean comfortable bed friendly staff
The breakfast buffet, not disturbed by motorway noise
no room temperature controls, only one beside light and it was controlled by main switch.
Super comfy bed, we were upgraded to larger beds upon arrival. Friendly staff. Nice hotel and helpful location.
The receptionist was very helpful. The food from the restaurant was delicious.
No shower gel in the dispenser. The coffee machine leaked everywhere and the room was hot. The hotel was clean and the rooms spacious but it is looking tired and probably a little overpriced.
Location was good for where we were going. Bar area pleasant.
Toilet in en suite had faeces in on our arrival. Bed was incredibly firm. Very poor night's sleep.
Good mid way location stop off for our trip to Cornwall
Loved the restaurant next door
Our room was right by a corridor door that slammed every time someone went through it! Which was most of the night constantly banged
Excellent value for money, for a smart ,comfortable, well furnished room including breakfast too ! Everything we needed. View over the courtyard to a glimpse of fields at the back. Friendly lady on reception. Good having the restaurant on site which had some reasonable prices. Good location for visiting lots of interesting places -Berkeley ( Jenners museum and the Castle ) and lovely walks all along the River Severn eg Oldbury on Severn, along the Sharpness canal , the ship graveyard near Purton , Frampton, Arlingham and further north. Slimbridge Wildlife reserve is only 9 miles away.
Room was warm, but then everywhere is during these heatwaves .
Good breakfast but would like hot plates for hot food.
Found it challenging to find a lower carbohydrate meal as I have Type 1 Diabetes
Location good, parking easy
Very very hot at night, impossible to cool upstairs room as windows don’t open far enough. No air conditioning
Location
Road noise but not sure what you can do about that!
Nice little bar.
Road noise and uncomfortable bed.
The beds were comfortable, the room was clean, the breakfast was good.
No are conditioning in the room, so couldn't sleep because it was too hot even with a fan on all night. We asked for a downstairs room and received a message from the hotel saying that this had been allocated. When we arrived we were given a room on the first floor, not happy as my husband has mobility issues. We won't be staying at this hotel again.
Friendly staff, good bar didn’t have opportunity to eat there but looked good with a fair value menu being as it’s Marco’s.
We stayed here to attend a wedding at Tortworth Court, as it’s just 2 miles away, so cheap taxis to and from, but that’s not the case I was quoted £30 each way by a long cal taxi company, £26 by another, we ordered an uber which cost £19 to and £3.99 from god knows how uber pricing works. Of course none of this is the hotels fault, but thought it may be useful knowledge for anyone using for Tortworth. To Hotel a courtesy bus with a nominal fee say £5.00 could be a nice little earner.
Staff nice, breakfast good. Nice to have bar attached. Car parking close
Room lacked air conditioning, no bottled water. The sink made loud gurgling noises all night.
Ease of parking, a ground floor room, clean and comfortable, and friendly staff

The room was given to us not cleaned from the previous guest. I complained to reception was told that the room had been cleaned when clearly not. The bed had not been made, dirty towels left in the bathroom and a cup in the bathroom sink. Reception sent a cleaner to check the room and the cleaner agreed the room HAD NOT BEEN CLEANED. We had to sit in the restaurant and wait for the room to be cleaned annoyed as we paid for early arrival. Also suggest you get some type of Aircon or fans the sweat was dripping off me as too hot and uncomfortable in the restaurant meals are not cheap therefore would appreciated some comfort.
Breakfast good but not able to have only continental ..... Full cooked only available.
No air conditioning , room was very hot . Small electric fan only , windows only opened a few inches. Very little sleep due to heat and no way to mitigate the problem . Went out to the car late evening trying to cool down with A/C for half hour . Daytime temp was 30 Degrees C
Nice place in a nice area.
Looking tired ! Needs some care and a lick of paint.
Would be quicker to ask what I didn’t like
The only downside was that the bar wasn’t open longer But that is just my preference
Location
Dirty towels, blonde lady behind the bar very rude. None of the staff seemed happy to be there
Everything from the service to the room, the bed, the shower and the food... absolutely 💯 fabulous. Clean and comfortable and quiet..... Thank you so much for our stay. We will definitely be back soon.
Nothing. No complaints were found.
Little bed and water bowl for our dog, nice little room well set up for dogs Breakfast was good very good selection
Great location and comfortable
Nothing really
It was near my son. The staff is friendly and helpful.
The toilet seat would not stay up. The cooked breakfast was not very good. Plus some furniture needs updating. .
Staff friendly room clean
Room very compact , Hotel next to a busy road and due to the heat wave that was happening and no air-conditioning we were unable to leave windows open as traffic non stop .
Friendly and helpful staff
The location, staff, food.
Not enough outside space !
Handy for work - good food
breakfast
bed a little small
Friendly and efficient staff. Excellent breakfast
Staff were very friendly and helpful. The receptionist was lovely . She even helped us take our luggage upstairs. Breakfast was very nice and tasty. I would just like to mention that we booked a double bedroom but the bed looked like a queen bed and my husband is quite a big bloke. Apart from that we had a great stay.
The bed was not a double bed.
First time staying here and it was a lovely stay. A beautiful place and lovely viewsThe bedrooms were very clean and presentable, brealfast was lovely and the staff were amazing! Very polite, friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay here again.
The location near the M5. Staff were without exception, helpful friendly and efficient. Food in the evening and at breakfast was of a high standard. The accommodation was clean, if a bit dated
For the price for the room we were expecting something a bit more upmarket
Good location for the wedding we were attending.
The carpets in the public areas and bedrooms were dirty and full of stains. The bedroom furniture was dented and dated. Bathroom grout black in places.
Close to M5 for our onward journey. Warm and clean room. Nice restaurant with good food , Good breakfast. Great staff all very helpful.
We had a small double my own fault as I didn't read the small print . I thought it was a small double room, but it was the actual double bed that was smaller than normal. So not much room to stretch out with two people.
Breakfast was very good. Lots of choice.

Extremely clean & well appointed
Friendly welcome , close to badminton horse trial This is the Third time we have stayed , the new restaurant is comfortable and the food was great , we ate every night from the menu and nothing disappointed us at all , the offers are good and very reasonably priced , the rooms are clean , quiet , and dog friendly , the king size bed was so comfortable , you can ask at reception for tea and coffee milk toilet rolls etc all restock you can ask for and take to your room when retiring like we did every night as the receptionist is there all the time , the rooms are not serviced as in other hotels , but I myself liked this as you was not disturbed and it’s more private plus having it as pet friendly room means your dog was not upset by comings and going of staff , we stayed for 6 days and did not have any problems with there services , the bar staff (ladies) were great and enjoyed a laugh and conversation , breakfast is plentiful and good price if staying few days , I can highly recommend this hotel and will look forward to coming back again
Nothing to dislike
Location
Mattress … comfortable Disappointed with the coffee selection at breakfast, but understand the costs
Great location, very friendly staff, clean rooms. Restaurant was very good. Normal breakfast selections. Had 3 dinners in the restaurant which We're all really good. The salmon entree was delicious and steak was some of the best I've had
Only complaint is that my shower /tub water seal for shower wasn't that good so water seeped on the floor.
Comfortable spacious room
Very small portions in the Restaurant
Conveniently located, easy access to the motorway.
Bed was really too small. Bathroom light quit working.
Location was perfect for our needs
Not enough garden space for dogs to roam/potty, considering dog/pets are welcome.

Room was bigger than expected as it was called a small double. Generous amounts of coffee and tea in the room. Good breakfast.
There was no body wash in the container in the bathroom. The coffee at breakfast was lukewarm.
The reception team were friendly and helpful. The location was perfect. The Marco restaurant and bar is lovely, the food was great!
The atmosphere created at breakfast.
Everyone & everything was just right
Room
Didn’t top up the tea without asking

Location
Had a function on 16th birthday party with live band and I wasn't told. No sleep until 12am then the clocks went forward. Horrible disaster of a stay. TELL GUESTS THERE WILL BE A PARTY. ridiculous. Never again I want a refund.
Very well presented hotel, offering comfort and quality.
Perfectly situated for a motorway stopover. Private car park. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent restaurant on site.
First floor bedroom was very hot at night.
Restaurant/bar was great, food was lovely. Room was a great size, bed was comfy, little noisy due to window not closing fully but didn’t ruin our stay.
Nothing
The staff were very friendly and attentive
Arrived on Thursday evening. Very helpful and friendly check in. Hotel clean and tidy outside and main entrance. Our room was very old fashioned with a 4 poster bed. It must have been years old! There was all glue marks across the top where there must have been some sort of pelmet years ago. Everything was so dated it was like a nursing home. Jacuzzi bath in en-suite didn’t work and shower pressure was awful. We had booked dinner at “Marcos “ but cancelled when restaurant staff couldn’t answer menu questions. Buffet breakfast was included. Thursday morning was ok but Friday was awful. They also squeeze everyone into one side of the room so felt like we dining with other guests. I asked for a tea pot but no members of staff could find one ( they were visible on the bar) We would not return here
I love the location as its so near the motorway. Everyone is so friendly. Been a few times.
The room. I paid a little extra due to a special day. So, I had the queen four poster bed. This was meant to be a special night with my partner. The bed itself was awful. It was so uncomfortable. The noise of the bed was so bad. Every little movement, the wood frame sounded like it was going to break. I was woken at 1 am. as i was so uncomfortable.
Staff very friendly and helpful
Cost of drinks at the bar. Rooms were too warm.
Problem led to an offer of bill discount t that did not happen. Also tried to charge me twice for meals that were included in the DBB rate. Manger did not fulfill his promise.
Very comfortable room with a lovely bed for a two night stay. Excellent breakfast, very helpful and friendly staff. Also enjoyed a tasty well cooked and served evening meal.
Good location, comfortable beds and good restaurant. Staff were very friendly especially reception on checking in

Areas to consider
Cleanliness
7/10Mostly reported as clean in several stays, but at least one detailed complaint about a room not being cleaned on arrival lowers this score.
Service
8.5/10Staff repeatedly described as welcoming, kind, helpful and friendly; reception responded when issues were raised.
Location
8.5/10Good mid-way location with easy parking and convenient for local attractions and events (Tortworth Court, Slimbridge, local walks).
Room Quality
6.5/10Many rooms described as comfortable with good furnishings, but frequent issues with heat (windows not opening, no AC), corridor/road noise and occasional uncomfortable beds.
Amenities
6.5/10On-site restaurant and bar and parking are positives, but lack of air conditioning, no bottled water and some maintenance noises (gurgling sink) are notable negatives.
Value for Money
8.5/10Multiple guests highlight excellent value for money and reasonable on-site restaurant prices.
Food and Beverage
7.5/10Breakfast is consistently praised and the attached restaurant/bar is popular, though limited low-carbohydrate options were noted by one guest.
Overall Experience
7/10Generally enjoyable stays and friendly staff, but heatwave-related discomfort, noise and an isolated serious cleanliness failure reduce the overall experience for some guests.
