The staff on the first two days made no effort to even say hello or introduce themselves in the morning, sitting at their lap top in the corner. Not clear to be honest if they were guests or staff as we had to ask! The gentleman who took over the second two days was helpful when asked for stuff. Minor point but no tea spoons - boiled eggs are not easier to eat wish dessert spoons!

Room was small such that one person had only about 7 inches of access to get around to the other side of the bed. Thought the price was quite a bit out of line with the room (550/night with tax) - pictures of the queen deluxe misleading. Somehow we ended up with the runt of the litter. Parking at 59/night a bit pricey too

This experience was amazing! My partner and I stayed for one night to slow down, find some peace, and enjoy a quiet moment together, and it was absolutely perfect. We stayed in the room with the private garden, which allowed us to fully relax, watch the stars, and enjoy the sound of the birds. It truly felt like the perfect getaway. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the shower was incredible! We also loved that they allowed us to have breakfast on our private patio, which made the experience even more special and let us continue enjoying the peaceful garden atmosphere. Breakfast was delicious and very complete — we had English muffins, pastries, and excellent coffee. We will definitely be back!

The Poppy is super charming and in a great neighborhood. Having said that it is more Airbnb then hotel. I arrived at 6pm to check in and was left an envelope taped to the door with instructions on a code I could use by solving a puzzle. This code got me in the front door and into my room. I have a disability so was surprised that there was no elevator and steep stairs to take my bag. I booked the hotel in part because they had valet parking but no valet and no human when I arrived so out of luck. The rooms are charming but tiny. The breakfast was self serve and continental. Fine built nothing special. Cereal was to be eaten out of the plastic cereal container as there were no bowls. The staff in the morning sat at a laptop and looked at room reservation spreadsheets with an occasional instruction on breakfast if you looked confused. It all was a weird experience. All for$400+ a night. Great location but it felt like in their effort to minimize cost and overhead they just went too far. Having a friendlier and helpful staff would help and being clearer that there is no staff after 6pm should have been noted.

My husband and I enjoyed a 4 night stay in late March. What a fabulous boutique hotel in the most charming neighborhood! Thank you to Riley (sorry for any misspelling) who assisted me in adding an extra night to our reservation, she is so kind. We appreciated the text information regarding the after hours check in. Our room was very comfortable and clean. For my husband and I, it was a great space to sleep at night and we loved being able to open the windows for fresh air, especially during a rainstorm. We could not hear any other guests so we slept very well. It felt like we were staying in the home of fabulous hosts. The common area is clean and space is plentiful. Having snacks at all times was great; water, juices, tea, coffee, cereal, fruit, and baked goods. We loved the location and enjoyed our daily walks to DC, and all around Georgetown. We will definitely return to this hotel when we return to DC. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so enjoyable and COZY!

The room was in the downstairs of a three story building making the room dark and looked out on the side at the noeghboring restaurant where there is a rotting refrigerator and piles of trash. Old trash bags, essentially a dump.

The room was dated and uninspired. We were supposed to have a queen size bed, but was only a full size. The comforter cover was stained. The curtains didn’t fully cover the windows which faced the street. My messages to the hotel were unanswered.

The place has a charming, cozy feel and the room was clean and comfortable. I also really enjoyed the patio and the kitchen. The breakfast was excellent and very complete. The staff provided great service, John and Nico made the experience even better. The check-in process was very easy.

Delightfully small, great help yourself amenities and a chill patio for relaxing after a day in the city. The hosts and cleaning staff were very accommodating of my travel schedule. Excellent hot shower with good water pressure.

Highly recommended place to stay in a beautiful residential area of DC, near the Phillips Collection (also highly recommended). Lots of thoughtful touches, such as a borrow cupboard, and blankets for use in the very pleasant garden (also the fire pit). I’d definitely stay here again.

The Poppy Georgetown was one of our favorite places we have stayed in many years of travel. The staff were warm and inviting and the service was great! Nestled in a beautiful neighborhood of Georgetown, the Poppy provides a homey vibe with spacious and clean rooms with full access to a common kitchen area. You are within walking distance of some great shops and restaurants. We would come back to visit DC area just for experience of staying at the Poppy Georgetown again!

Wonderful location for this cute boutique hotel with all the amenities and then some. Friendly staff, free European style breakfast each morning was a bonus. Get a coffee and sit in the sunny garden! Would return in the future!! Walking distance to so many DC gems.

We traveled to the Georgetown area to visit family. Looked for a place that was close to their home and found The Poppy in Georgetown. Before booking we spoke with the staff about the locations accommodations for guest with mobility issues. we were trying to avoid too many stair's. They suggested room 5 as it is located on the same level as the entrance with the only steps were at the main entrance. Upon arrival we made our way to our room and it was perfect. It was as we had been advised and reminded us of a bedroom in a home instead of just another hotel room. The room was very large had an electric fireplace, large screen tv, a desk and a mini fridge which is a good thing when traveling with insulin. It had an oversize bathroom that with an oversized shower that I believe would accommodate a wheelchair. The entrance to the shower appeared to be a roll in type. They offered a continental breakfast each morning with a very nice selection of pastries, breads, meat and cheese, fresh fruit, large selection of cereal, milk, coffee, and juices. One word of caution is that Room 5 shares a common wall with the parlor area at breakfast time you can hear some of the goings on in the parlor. The surrounding area has a sandwich shop deli, across the street is a market, near by there are numerous good dining place less than a mile away. I never felt unsafe when I walked about the area. The staff was very nice. We have already decided that upon our return to the DC area we are going to try to rebook here first. The last two words of the name of this location Guest House really says it all. We really felt as though we were guests in someone’s home.

Nice sized room, comfortable bed, nice breakfast and refreshments included. Great restaurant next door.

The room was a little down at the heels. The bed fabric was tired and spotted, the desk chair was damaged. The bathroom door was a sliding door that was difficult to move and afforded little privacy.

Clean and well appointed; nice bath facilities; bed was good; coffee and drink bar came in handy, especially all the different milks. Common area decor was very appealing, even in the courtyards. We appreciated the friendly host, John and good communication from Nico.

One window in the bathroom let in a lot of light.

Our three night stay at the Poppy was fantastic! The room was huge and spotless (we had the King suite on the garden level). My twelve year old son said that the pullout couch was really comfortable and our bed was too. The attention to detail-from the ‘borrow’ closet that came in handy for a steamer to the little snacks and open kitchen for drinks all hours-all very thoughtful. Nico and the rest of the staff that we encountered were lovely and helpful. The location was perfect for us-a short walk to all of shopping and restaurants in Georgetown, but in a quiet residential area. Also a fast uber to the National Mall which was great too. We can’t wait to return!

The guesthouse is in a quiet location in a pretty residential part of Georgetown. The whole of Georgetown is within easy walking distance. The hosts were really welcoming and helpful. The room was excellent with everything that you would expect. The garden areas looked really nice but November wasn't the time for sitting outside!

The breakfast was a little better than the standard hotel buffet breakfast but a hot choice (other than DIY boiled eggs) would have been nice. We mostly used the Metro for getting round DC and the closest well connected station at Foggy Bottom was a 20 minute walk away.

We at the Poppy this past weekend. The accommodations were suitable and the staff and proprietors were agreeable and helpful. Even though it is a small hotel, it has a serviceable lobby/common area where we enjoyed talking with my brother and his wife over drinks and had breakfast the next morning. As for location, the Poppy is in very walkable proximity to Embassy Row, aka Massachusetts Avenue, and to Dumbarton Oaks, one of Washington’s hidden gems. We would enjoy staying there in the future.

Die Lage des Hotels war ruhig, die Ausstattung bzgl. Badezimmer und Betten gut. Der Garten war nett zum Sitzen, allerdings hat ihn niemand genutzt, da ja kein Service für Getränke vorhanden ist. Die Anbindung an Busse war gut, die Metro 20 Gehminuten entfernt. Das Regierungsviertel und die Mall sowie das Kennedy Center in einer halben Stunde erreichbar.

Das Frühstück war durchschnittlich, der Kaffee aber miserabel. Der Service beim Frühstück war nicht ausreichend. Überhaupt war nie irgend eine Ansprechperson vor Ort, nur bei unserer Ankunft. Unser Zimmer war sehr dunkel und nur über 2 Treppen erreichbar. Kein Schrank, nur 5 Kleiderbügel, kein Safe. Das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis war aus unserer Sicht schlecht.

Stay here if you want a Georgetown neighborhood experience and feel like a resident. Area is spectacular, walkable. Hotel staff is attentive, excellent respite from the usual commercial hotel experience.

my only negative: Room 5 is close to the kitchen, where the espresso machine is right up against the Room 5 wall. The buzzing of that machine goes right through the wall like an alarm. It would be nice, too, if the windows could open.

Such a cute boutique hotel! The room was clean & fresh, a nice size, bedding was comfortable, great shower, all the little extras with food, treats & drinks was appreciated. I added on the Georgetown cupcakes & they were waiting for me upon arrival with plates & forks. Much appreciated. The outdoor area was beautiful. Also love that it’s dog friendly.

What a perfect place to spend some days in Washington DC. Our room (32) was a perfect place to be when not wandering around the city. The place offers a perfect place to make your breakfast or have a drink. The room was comfortable and the air conditioning worked well but was silent which helped to sleep well. Nico, the host that admired us and gave us tips, was very friendly and available. Too bad it rained on the afternoons when we were there. There is a patio that looks very inviting but the rain did not invite for going out there. I can imagine how nice it could have been to sit there after a tour into the city and have a cold beer or a glass wine. Recommend the place if you are a couple wanting to visit DC. The neighborhood is beautiful.

Great place. Staff is friendly and the accommodations are perfect. They actively ensured that our stay was wonderful. Hotel is in the perfect DC location. A very short walk to main Georgetown area. Great restaurants and bars and shopping. There is a grocery store across the street and a liquor store. We will definitely return.

Courteous and friendly emails before arrival gave us an indication of what to expect. The Poppy House is delightful and surrounded by the wonderful local quirky houses. Complimentary drinks and snacks were a great unexpected touch. Breakfasts were plentiful with a good assortment of fruits, cakes etc. Our room had the benefit of a private garden with a firepit which we made good use of. Georgetown is a friendly old-fashioned area and demands you should walk around and enjoy it. The room itself was larger than anticipated with a spacious bathroom and spotlessly clean.

If you look for a place with a family atmosphere, you are at the right place : we really enjoyed it. The beds are very comfortable. You feel really safe in Georgetown and the metro Dupont Circle is not far to discover all the places to see.

Loved the one bedroom suite room, it was spacious and comfortable. Very cute backyard that was quiet and nice if you wanted to relax. The staff was very nice. Very nice location with lots of little places to eat nearby.

This was our first boutique hotel and we absolutely loved it. So cute. Can’t wait to try more places like this in the future. Just adorable and the workers were super nice and helpful too. Room was so pretty. Loved so many things. If I had to criticize anything at all, and these are minor complaints, it would be that they don’t have a basic coffee maker or a keurig. Just a very fancy cappuccino maker. I’m a basic girl and look forward to my basic coffee at home lol. The other thing we didn’t love, and this is my fault for not noticing when booking, there were no basic restaurants or pubs close by to grab a meal or drink at in a pinch. There’s a French restaurant nearby but again, too fancy for us basic folks lol. The last complaint would be that I partly booked this hotel due to the adorable patios and sitting areas outside. We were not able to use them at all because there was so many mosquitoes that my husband got eaten alive within five minutes. They kindly offer bug spray but he doesn’t want to smell like bug spray all day so we just stayed indoors. They told us that the day we were leaving they had a mosquito spraying company to come out and treat for it so that’s good at least. Again in general, we love the hotel and look forward to staying two more places like this. Highly recommend in general. Thank you for everything.

We loved every little detail in the guesthouse!Both indoor and outdoor spaces were beautiful,clean and spacious and we felt extremely comfortable! All the amenities were great and we liked the cosy vibes during breakfast time, which was excellent! The neighborhood and general area was dreamy – stunning like a painting and definitely the most beautiful we saw in Washington! The staff was amazing, answering all of our questions from the very beginning and helping us with everything throughout our stay. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts – we truly hope we’ll be able to come back someday! Sending our warmest greetings from Greece!!!:)

Although the neighborhood is the most beautiful in all of Washington, it was a bit of a walk — but that wasn’t a problem and didn’t stop us from having a wonderful time!

This was a friendly, inviting place that was in a lovely neighborhood. We were located within a half mile of the metro and used this to get around. Coffee, fresh fruit, water, and snacks were available 24/7. This was close to many great restaurants and the stay couldn't have been better.

the Poppy is very well located in Georgetown, quiet and yet close to the vibrant life of GT. The accommodation is comfortable but my bedroom need ed to be freshened up (the paper covering the wall was torn in many places). Breakfast was very good with a large choice of pastries, charcuteries and cheese. Staff was outstanding.

Le lit King size très confortable, le quartier très charmant, coloré et quand même proche des activités (30min à pied du mall). Le petit déjeuner +++ et les petites attentions dans la cuisine (fruits et autres à disposition en libre service). Le petit jardin très charmant aussi même si nous n’avons pas pu en profiter. Si je reviens à Washington je resterais au Poppy de nouveau!
