The Reef Hotel and Residences

The hot water for the shower did not work and the shower head didn't spray straight down. It would spray all in different direction. There were also roaches in the room which made me check out.

toilet was clogged, cockroaches all over the room. AC blowing hot air. TV dusty and mold on bed.

Location is great but the hotel itself is not worthy and recommendable for the price. Facilities are old (shower is not working properly and landline ). The room and linens (bath,beddings,mats) are all old and not clean. Bed covers are already gray. Rooms should be properly sanitized. But the staffs are all nice.

Early check-in is allowed. Unfortunately that's the only good thing I could say about Reef Hotel. The hotel is not properly maintained. Paint on the room walls were chipping. Towels are clean, but the color has turned from white to gray. The most frustrating thing here is the poor WiFi signal in the room. Had to use the cellphone data throughout our stay. With a lot of hotels in Subic, i thing I'll check out other places next time.

The hotel is runned down. There were no elevators to begin with. The initial room that we had was a mediocre. They gave us a room that was not supposed to be rented out, drain was clogged, missing toilet seat, showers did not have sliding doors so expect the entire bathroom to get soaking wet, towels we’re dirty white, cabinets have rails so you could barely put stuffs in it since it will fall through the gaps, doorbells and dnd service not working so expect someone to knock on your door each morning, one key policy per room so next time you leave your room you need to ask the front desk for assistance each time to have someone open the door for you. Because if you take your key out, the AC and lights will shut off. And guess what, you’re in the Philippines! You know how hot it is so you would rather leave the key and call someone than take they key with you. Weird! I’ve never experienced a hotel like this before. I cannot recommend this place to any of my family and friends. We are very disappointed. On the email, I have explained who will be staying in the rooms with me, I booked two rooms and they had my parents stay in the 2 single beds and they put me and my daughter to the king bed which I found it really annoying!

I like the location of the property, It is close enough to the main avenue but also not that busy, with ample parking right across. There is even a 7-11 and a restaurant located beside it. The staff were friendly. On the down side, there is no elevator, so it was a challenge bringing luggage up and down the stairs. Unless you actually ask for help, the lobby staff won't assist you even if they see you lugging your suitcase at the stairs. Also, despite requesting for another, they only issue one key card so, if you and your companion happen to be going separate ways and you come in the hotel first, you would have to ask the hotel to open the door to the room for you, but since you don't have a keycard to power up the room, you would have to sit in the dark without aircon, or otherwise wait for your companion at the lobby. The rooms are amply sized, but the bathroom needs to be maintained better. There are molds already on the shower stall and the lavatory/ sink was not cleaned properly. you will be issued towels but need to request a bath mat. There is a ref, a microwave, and standard eating implements, no water kettle. (No coffee and tea, just 2 bottles of mineral water)

This is the worst hotel I was put up so far. Luckily I book an executive suite that more comfort. The towers are like floor rug. No breakfast. Complimentary water had a weird taste.The "Bay" view are block with bamboo just outside the balcony. Door lock not good condition. No elevator, need to carry luggage to room and only one male staff to help.

I've now stayed at the Reef 3x and have already booked my 4th stay. Five reasons why I like it and 2 suggestions for improvement: Likes 1.It's located on Waterfront Road which is a much livelier and more pleasant area than Dewey Ave where I used to stay in Mango Valley 2.While there are very few staff (vs most other Subic hotels with too many staff but most without a clue what to do), they are efficient, pleasant and know what they're doing 3.If you book at the hotel, it's a mere P2300 for a park facing room. That's less expensive than booking online and less expensive than any other decently-rated hotel in the area 4.Room as fridge and it gets cold quickly (some of fridges at Mango Valley takes hours to get cool) 5.Lots of natural light in the rooms and in the entire hotel Potential improvements: 1.Rooms have the card system where power goes off when card out of slot. This means after 10 hrs of cycling, I come back to a warm room vs being able to leave a/c on at low level while I'm gone 2.Rooms starting to look rather worn. Some fresh paint wouldn't go amiss. This has been a great budget choice for me when all I need is a place to crash overnight when I'm cycling for two days.

Overall, it was ok because of its location. It is along Waterfront Boulevard so it is accessible to dining places and also to the boulevard to watch sunset, have a walk, bike or jog. There is a 7-11 store just at the ground floor of the hotel so very convenient too. The big minus point is that the hotel did not have elevator. Very difficult for my 89-year old mom. When I booked the hotel online, I already sent a message that we have a senior with us and accessibility is very important. I asked that we be given a room at the ground floor. Turns out, there is no hotel room at the ground floor. All rooms are from second floor and up. The big plus point is that the hotel staff were so helpful and attentive. They helped carry our bags to our rooms. And they immediately changed one of the rooms when (upon our return from dinner), we discovered the room to be heavily infested with red ants. The immediately gave us a new family room near our other rooms. There is no free breakfast (contrary to what is published here). They do not serve breakfast at all. No swimming pool. Parking is free and just in front of the hotel.

Aircon was very noisy that we had to change room and the 2nd room had bathroom floor always flooded. No elevators.

The place was a bit pricey for budget travelers but the place was really clean, nice and you would really be comfortable staying at the place. Nice staff, always happy to help you and very courteous. the only thing that turned me off is when they let children with nappies swim in the pool. informed the staff but still, other people with kids had their children with nappies swimming in the pool. didn't dare step in the pool!

My Bay view was blocked by bamboo trees but I paid extra for a bay view. No elevator.

When i came to the room, its nice clean, relaxing,nice and cozy bed.. but there is no slippers no rugs... water in the toilet is leaking then suddenly i wanna ask something to the receptionist.... but i cannot find the phone...i look everywhere.. i still cannot find.. until i go down to the reception to ask personally..after that i ask also why dont have phone in my room..she said have phone there then she try to call and then she said.. its ringing.. maybe you cannot see she said.. so i feel shy then i go back to room to find it one more time.. unfortunately i still cannot find the phone until i call a housekeeping who just pass by in the alley way... then i said this room dont have phone? Then she come and look everywhere then she said yes mam dont have phone... i said.. ah ok.. atlist i confirmed it that there is no phone... and then after 20 mins they knock and then they tell me that they will transfer me in other room.. and it was upgraded into a jr suite.. i feel happy... though there is no rugs no slippers no hangers in the jr suite.. also the toilet is leaking.. When i walk around the hotel.. i find it so dirty... on 2nd floor balcony, there is an empty beer bottles all over in 1 table and on the floor and so many used ash tray on both table.. and also the floor and the wooden chair is full of dust, when i go to the ground floor some of the tables are same.. have empty bottles and used ash tray.. Above all i will rate this hotel during my stay is 60%... thank you

Room is clean but they didnt make up my bed on daily basis and replenished the mineral water or changed the towels. Air conditioner was very noisy and occasionally made me awake during night time thinking someone was trying to break in the room. Reception lack of knowledge on the surrounding and keep saying "I dont know" rather than trying to find out for the guest. Asked for adapter, they said was not available but found out later it was at the reception all the while.

Comfortable and accommodating

I booked their family room with Ocean view. The rooms are good with balcony that having a good view of the dock and the ocean itself. The room is spacious when it comes to size and it is really good for a long stay. You can prepare and cook your food in the hotel. It is also accessible to restaurants, bars, spa, and 711 shops wherein you can have your normal needs. In front of the hotel is a park wherein if you want to have a run probably the best place to stay. Overall the hotel is ideal to stay for both business and pleasure. They have a very nice playground for kids to spend time with. Though here's my comments that needs to be taken care. 1. The hotel has no elevator 2. The hotel has no swimming pool and swimming on the ocean is not permitted as well. 3. I don't find slippers inside the room. 4. The late check out is maximum 1:00pm but they gave us until 2PM which I really appreciate it. I can reccomend for all the travellers to stay on this hotel the people are nice and hospitable. I will surely be back on this hotel.

The ads in hotel.com did not inform us that the street in front of The Reef was being renovated. The rainy season made the area flooded, problematic for the guests.

Hotel is tired, restaurant menu selection and food is very basic and not great

It was our first time in Subic and Clark. I just want to say Kudos to these 3 hotel staff who made our stay more memorable. 1. Ms.Leslie- who gave us a warm welcome and smooth check in esp we arrived late in the evening. 2. Ms.Sheena who was very helpful in our needs during the entire stay. 3. Most especially to Ms. Jenny who made sure everything we talked about upon reservation was properly endorsed. She was very warm and accommodating and most of all efficient. Will surely stay in this hotel again in our next visit. Thank you Leslie, Sheena, and Jenny!

the surrounding area is not good. dud not feel safe leaving my rental car out there. the lobby is very nice but the actual rooms need major updating upgrading etc..I rented the executive suite. it was dinghy had ants crawling around and the sheets and towels are like 30 years old..the a/c was weak. this countrys heat is no joke. im begining to see a trend in some pictures of hotels being photo shopped to look better especially if in a sketchy area.

The hotel looks lonely. Only two people at the lobby, the receptionist and a guy at the door who also helps with luggage. I stayed at the Jr. suite which had a nice view of he bay. Good sized room, good bed. Cold ac but kinda loud. There are ant-like insects on the bed, floor, and counter. There are pieces of hair on the floor and it is very dusty. Restaurant operates only at certain hours so I had to call for food delivery from somewhere else at 2pm. I stayed at the smaller room last year, it was ok. I thought it was cleaner and better maintained then. There are better hotels in Subic for the same price. Should have chosen a different hotel for a one day r&r.

I initially booked for 2nights because I have a scheduled meeting in the area and took advantage of the long weekend for a staycation and continue doing my research in a place far from Manila and noice. I usually stay in a hotel whenever I needed to be far from the typical noice to be able to concentrate on whatever I am currently writing on. I appreciate the effort that a staff called me initially on the day of my check-in to be informed that the room I booked has some mainternance concerned and that I was upgraded in an executive room with no extra charge. There’s a nice parking across the property and convenience store which is good. I totally dislike the attitude of the 2 FOs, the first one which I was not able to get the name but she was the one who checked me in and the second is ‘Jenny’ who I was able to communicate with on my 2nd day as I have my breakfast. Upon check in, the FO was not accommodating at all. I was the one who greeted as I approach the front desk and upon mentioning that I have a reservation, she just asked for an ID and how I want to settle the payment, that’s it! She was totally not warm during the check-in process! It was too quick and I felt like she’s making things quick as possible so she can just chill of some sort. Well, this is how I personally interpret her inappropriate actions. I booked a deluxe room facing the waters but the room upgrade given to me even if its an executive room looks like it needs some renovations and its facing a parking lot. There’s was no explanation about what happened to my room, no explanation which room I will be checked-in, no explanation about facilities such as breakfast procedures, hotel policy if there’s one, check-in/check-out, etc! It’s not only the 4 or 5 star hotels do this but all establishments in the tourism and hospitality industry should! For my 1st breakfast, I went to the front desk and asked about how breakfast goes, the FO named Jenny just gave me a meal stub without out saying anyword, is she mute or what!? From my room, I called the FO and extended for another night. The FO then was not accommodating even on the fone and aswered my call as if she just woke up from sleep. As I check-out, this FO named Jenny was consistent with her coldness. The location of the property is nice and quiet but will definitely not go back. As a former hotelier and academician teaching Tourism and Hospitality students, this hotel needs to do a lot of overhaul as regards its customer service and do an upgrade with their staffs.

Descent hotel where you can have a peaceful rest, this is good for back packers or solo travelers. Although I don’t recommend this for families who is looking for activities like swimming or others. Overall it is a descent hotel, I do see myself going back here in the future if I need a place to rest and sleep for the night.

I booked the room for 2 adults and one child through Hotels.com and received confirmation for 1 room with 2 twin beds. When we checked in we got a room with only one twin bed. There were no rooms available with 2 twin beds and we had to sleep all 3 in one bed. The first morning I informed the reception the drain in the shower was clogged a d the aircon filter was dirty. In the evening the drain was cleaned but not the aircon filter. I cleaned the aircon filter myself. The breakfast was wery basic, but ok. The staff was very positive but it's obvious they have a tight budget.

The hotel is in a very good location. I love that it is walking distance to good restaurants and a coffee shop. There's a real feel of being relaxed and simply enjoying a late afternoon walk. It is also close to a duty-free shop. Our room is spacious, with 1 queen and 1 double bed, a sofa and a kitchenette. Very clean. With a veranda overlooking the sea. A room with park view, I think, would also be nice. Free parking across the road. Although by the road, it was safe. Oh, the hotel staff are friendly. The only downside would be the breakfast place. For families with kids and asthmatic people like me, it is not the place to be. It is a pub by night so in the morning, it smells, of smoke and cigarettes. But their one serving of Filipino silog meal is good (although the beef tapa was pretty small, the others were just right), and they have strong coffee too which I love. Yes, except for the breakfast place, it is a very good boutique hotel.

My husband and I have been staying here regularly for the past 3 years as the hotel is very conveiniently situated. Unfortunately this will be our last visit as quality, service,cleanliness,amenities have rapidly deteriorated. The room had not even been cleaned from the previous guests just the bed made (not even bothered with top sheet), toilet paper empty,toothpaste all over basin mirror and cupboards,mould and grime all over shower and toilet and floor. The mould in main room was dreadful and took out breath away.We made a complaint to reception that night and she said it would be cleaned the next morning, but nothing in fact they never even entered the room. We are terribly disappointed and will neither return nor recommend to anyone else.

Good: 1. Clean rooms and hotel lobby 2. Checked-in late in the evening it was hassle free. We booked online. Bad: 1. No security guard on the ground 2. The parking area gets flooded (Yes, there is a warning sign that the area gets flooded but it's better if they take note who the car belongs and update the car owner when its raining hard.) 3. Breakfast sucks. Only had 3 choices for breakfast and low quality. You can do better.

My family booked here 2x already. The value for money is great. The lobby is clean, well decorated and the staff is friendly. The place is quiet and smells nice too. We booked a suite room to cater a family of 4 including a toddler and an infant. The room is clean, well lit, the bedsheets are clean and crisp. The bathroom is clean as well. There is a sofa and a small kitchen, a ref available for use. Although there is no swimming pool, there is a bar/restaurant just downstairs adjacent to the lobby which offers great food. Overall, I recommend booking a room at this hotel.

The best thing about this hotel is it's location. It is walking distance from the food attractions, namely Xtremely Xpresso, Texas Joe's, and a couple of others. As mentioned by other reviewers, this place does not have lifts or elevators, so if taking the stairs is an issue, make sure you get a lower floor. Otherwise, the hotel is relatively clean and fairly new.

Average hotel

Clean, spacious hotel. Breakfast is ok but you could only choose from the 4 or 6 choices they have. Service is ok. No pool. Good location. You could request for a room facing the park or the beach. No elevator.

The hotel is just very close to the main city and Harbor Point. Easily accessible and peaceful, you don't have to worry about loud car noises. The room was clean. My only concern I think is that the people there already saw us carrying too many bags and didn't even bother helping us carry it to our room which is on the 3rd floor.

The Front desk female was so nice and friendly, so I knew my stay would be great. The room was clean and shower was great. Overall I give it a 10. I will be staying there again soon and I will tell my friends to stay there!

The hotel is situated in the very water front of Subic Bay, that is their key advantage. Because its in Subic, the place is peaceful and I felt secured. I like the idea of having no elevator as I will be obliged to use the stairs, that served as my warm up before going into jogging or walking at the bay up to the safe streets of Subic. The hotel ambiance is okay, the room is okay as well but the time we checked in, amenities were lacking considering that we already gave them the full details as to how many persons will be staying during reservation. We requested for an extra bed but was given a very thin one. Our colleague didn't used that and just utilized the long couch. No pillows were given as well for the extra bed requested. Apparently, towels need to be replaced already. Staff are welcoming and friendly. Overall, stay was okay.

We took 5 rooms together with my colleagues the hotel was right in front of the Subic Bay the best bayview and very convenient if you like to sweat in the morning with an awesome view of the bay and park, the food is savory I tried hook ( tuna and shrimp salpicao ) one of the best and must try and thanks to joshua he is very attentive during breakfast, the only things to improve is the shower drainage I tried 2 rooms and its the same clogging issue and also the receptionist doesn't give extra master key card even its a triple or quadruple occupants they only give you one.

Room was terrible. Extremely smelly and the sheets were stained. Avoid.

My family stayed for 2 nights, staff are very friendly however there are issues about the smell and safety of the room which was addressed to FO and HK but left unresolved and no feedback was given to me. The room smell of a dead animal coming from the balcony, a man was seen urinating below our balcony, called FO for mold, stagnant water and bad smell when I opened the fridge, asked the carpet to be removed due to bad smell and visible thick dust, furnitures are dusty, balcony was left with dried leaves from the bamboo trees for the entire stay, one of the sliding door's lock was broken, asked FO to fix it but nothing happened. Kitchenette has mold and food residue and worst flying insects inside the toilet! The restaurant's breakfast food taste and quality is horrible!
