Turaco Lodge - No Loadshedding

Stunning accomodation, staff were all friendly and helpful. Rooms are really great as well. Very relaxing environment. Food was good and made my nieces Birthday a really special one too. Highly recommend staying here.

There isn't anything not to like about Turaco Lodge. Meets all expectations. I would suggest doing a half day Safari. The initial room I was in was a bit small for 3 people and has no packing space but we moved to another room which was more spacious.

What a fabulous week at Turaco Lodge! The room was perfect for the three of us… exceptionally clean and comfortable. The common space was well appointed and comfortable. Nice to have a pool although we only used it once. Shout out to the chefs for made lovely evening meals for us and to the back of house for keeping our room spotless. We also want to thank Dirk and Dylan for being our safari guides and ensuring we saw the Big Five and then some! Loved seeing honey badger!! We had the pleasure of taking 2 tours with Elise - the Panorama Route and a day trip to Eswatini. Highly recommend both! Elise was so lovely… we thank her for her kindness in stopping at a pharmacy for us. Finally, a huge thanks to Chané and Dylan for making our vacation so memorable. Every detail was taken care of and the only thing we had to worry about is what kind of wine we’d have with dinner! That’s the kind of holiday everyone wants. 😁

We had a lovely Christmas at the lodge. It is a fantastic place to stay with a family feel due to excellent, friendly staff. Beautiful setting, amazing food and great game drives.

The hosts went out of their way to make us comfortable. They were also informative when we asked about their recommendations and things to do in the area. The staff was extremely friendly and professional. Their communication is top tier. They called us immediately when we forgot our phone after checking out.

The place is exactly what you see on the pictures, very morden and clean. The food was delicious from breakfast to supper. The owner and staff were very friendly. Love seeing the animals that come to the lodge. The place was home away from home. This lodge is just perfect. I will definitely go back.

The location was easy to reach in Marloth Park. I liked the room, with beautiful decoration, comfortable, nice bed, a small fridge, electric kettle for coffee and tea. The bathroom was also nice, painted in soft pastel colours and a shower with a good water pressure. Food was amazing and the personnel all the time ready to help.

Animals at your doorstep. The calm atmosphere and fresh air. Charney, Dillan and Marcel are excellent hosts who are passionate about people and what they do. They ensured we felt at home. They were warm and welcoming. We felt safe and right at home.

Enjoyed the food,Turaco Lodge, the game drive and the friendly atmosphere I’d recommend Turaco Lodge and I’ll definitely be visiting again for a much longer vacation. Trudy and Terry very friendly and welcoming. The kitchen staff were also friendly. Not to mention the Henry family we met there. The experience was incredible and a breath of fresh air for me.

Everything was perfect! Terry and Trudy the hosts are very friendly. They are very nice, warmful, welcome people. They have their own Chef: Eddy, who is as great as them and cook wonderfully. The room is amazing, very clean (with own swimming pool). The lodge is located in a safe giant park where sweet and peaceful animals come to greet you. Yolanda the cleaner is doing a wonderful job. To finish we thank our safari guide: Dirk for his patience and making our Safari a dreamy day. We will definitely come back.

The owners are very lovely and warm people who made us feel welcomed from the very beginning. The outside sitting area is beautiful, the rooms as well. Great location just 30 minutes away from Krüger Park Gates. The breakfast was delicious. Would definitely reccomend the lodge, out stay was exceptional.

Lovely service, warm welcoming on our arrival and friendly staff, I would give 10, ,but the sink in the bathroom was blocked and when washing face and teeth not vert plesant. Other than that all great, exceptional service. We had to leave early for the morning safari, our breakfast was carefully packed and waiting for us. Shame we could not stay longer, I am sure the restaurant would be also great. I would recoment with no hesitation.

The staff was exceptional, especially the host Marcel. His customer service is out of this world. He even connected us with the most incredible game-driver who cannot be compared to anyone. He made the experience memorable and wanting to on another one, talk about good value for money.

The food is expensive- dinner The room was not cleaned in one of the days, it is important to ask rather than being quiet. The breakfast pack for the game drive was not up to scratch. There were no hot beverages and it was cold in the morning. Consider asking what your guests prefer especially because they miss out on a full breakfast on that day. Ask if they have allergies to ensure that the food you prepare is right for them.

We loved our stay at the lodge! It was the perfect base for our Kruger safari. The rooms are spotlessly clean, spacious and comfortable, we enjoyed hot showers with great water pressure. The fact the lodge was unaffected by load-shedding also meant that my partner could work remotely. The location of the lodge is very special as there is a neighbouring nature reserve, so every day you have new visitors - we got to feed zebras, and saw kudu / impala / warthogs / monkeys and other animals coming in and out of the lodge each day - the safari experience continues even when you’re not on drives! There is also a resident bush baby and janette! The game drives were also amazing - our guide Dirk Grove has three decades of experience and did an incredible job to get us in the right spots at right time to see the big 5 and rhinos too! We ended up doing 3 days of game drives as he was just so impressive knowledgeable - every day was different and special. The hospitality at the lodge is unrivalled. The team prepared our breakfast each day ahead of the drives and provided ponchos and blankets for us to ensure the most comfortable start to the day. We ate at the restaurant every evening (6 nights!) as the food was exceptional. The in house chef Ernesto made the most amazing 3 course meals every day at a reasonable price of R380 per day. Marcel, Lizette, Trudy and Terry were also so kind to us and just wonderful people who are clearly very passionate about what they do. We had a 10/10 safari experience for a very reasonable price. Thank you so much for making our safari so special. We would love to come back soon! Iman and Harry

Cannot fault, it was perfect!

The staff (I won't name them, because I don't want to forget anyone) was really nice, supportive, and friendly. Seeing the animals that came to "visit" every morning and afternoon (zebras, impalas, kudus, monkeys, etc). Food was great.

We stayed at Turaco Lodge for one night on our way to Mozambique and it was the best choice ever. We felt welcome and very much at home. Marcel and the staff (specifically Ernest) were amazing and made our stay memorable. Thank you!

The moment we stepped after a long drive into Turaco Lodge we were embraced by Terry and Trudy like long lost family members. They kindly toured us around, explained everything such as honesty bar, coffee machine and showed us our suite with living room, two bedrooms and ensuite bathroom. Everything was shipshape and when I had a glimpse in Terrie's stock/service room I understood why: there is a very organized, orderly mind in charge. This order showed throughout our stay. Wether a superbly prepared breakfast basket by the staff at 4am ready for game drives, or a neatly braai (traditional SA barbecue) set up with finest south african meat delicacies...it was always ideal. The owner himself, Marcel, a lovable fellow, who takes guest entertainment and their well being seriously, was grilling the outstanding meat to perfection. Terry, Trudy and Marcel shared their fast and in depth knowledge of all animals in the park with us and particularly Terry is a nature enthusiast par excellence. One more issue: Marcel has a good contact for game drives. His name is Dirk Grove and he is one of the most outstanding guides we ever experienced. Very skilled and reliable driver, always on the lookout for animals, well learned about their behaviour and more than lucky to find them. We saw with him a leopard with his kill resting on a thick branch in the shade, 13 rhinos, among them a mother and her calf and a pride of three large male lions and six lionesses gathering up for the nightly hunt in a river bed. A game drive with Dirk is something special! Highly recommended. The lodge patio is regularly visited by the free roaming animals (impala, kudu, zebra, vervet monkeys, bushbabies or Galagos etc) in Marloth park. Lovely sights indeed.

Marcel and his wife & Trudy and her husband are wonderful hosts, paying attention to every detail to offer us the best stay possible! And the Lodge is simply a corner of paradise in the middle of a nature reserve surrounded by small animals that never tire of visiting us throughout the day… Our hosts were also very kind and understanding in allowing us to reschedule our stay dates after a last minute issue that prevented us from coming to the Lodge on our initial dates. Wonderful stay!

The warm atmosphere, the great host Marcel and his wife. They are fantastic, kind and welcoming. We felt like at home It's close to Kruger, about 30 minutes but the lodge is inside another natural reserve so around it we saw zebras, impalas and other animals which sometimes appeared

Amazing food, fantastic staff, and the owner is just a wonderful attentive person, he catered for our diabetic fussy son which was a bonus for us. Accommodation is excellent in every way the animals that visit again amazing. We would highly recommend staying here. It felt like we were staying with family. Its a home away from home.

It was a small lodge providing personalised service. It was lovely sitting on the stoop/patio surrounded by bush. Animals and birdlife visiting during the day. Staff who were knowledgeable and a full day game drive was excellent with an experienced safari guide. The food was excellent and the chefs were well trained.

Not much. Breakfasts were excellent, selected the evening before a system that worked extremely well. However, the evening meal, 3 courses, although amazingly well prepared and presented was made for people with large appetites who coped with rich food. For us it made our end of day difficult as we are small eaters.

Everything. Marcel and his wife, together with all their team are so nice and welcoming. We had the bast time in Krueger! So almost all animals. Thank you guys for everything you’ve done to make we feel like home!

Everything was just perfect at Turaco Lodge (staff, room, animals at the terrace - especially the bush baby). We really enjoyed our two nights here. The food was excellent and the whole day safari was the best safari we had so far, thanks to Dirk who made this adventure really special. We will definitely recommend this place and if we visit Kruger another time, we’ll stay here again.

The hosts were exceptional. The facilities are great. Incredible bush experience. Very Close to the Kruger National Park. The food was amazing. We asked for a romantic dinner set up at the last minute for our anniversary, they delivered and gave us complimentary champagne.🙂 This is one of the best lodges in the area.

Both pools water quality where horrible when we arrived till the owner Marcel came in after a two days and fixed one of them. This was a big mistake but Marcel did really well so the place is a more than a fantastic place to stay. Can be happen anywhere .

Marcelle was phenomenal, he accommodated my needs and was friendly, helpful. Things that were not in stock, he ensured that they were replenished for our comfort. The staff were ever so helpful, friendly and super chefs. It was a home away from home, we even stayed an extra day and will definitely be back. Our room had a private pool, but the atmosphere was so amazing I spent most of my time at the communal pool area. We went on a game drive which was so well executed-fruits, breakfast packs etc. We had zebras, impalas, kudu, Pumba, bush babies, gannets all come to the lodge…what an incredible experience This was a 5 star place. Loved everything.
