A true hidden gem in authentic Crete – an unforgettable stay! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We stayed at Alexander Mountain Resort in Gerakari from 23 to 26 July, and it was truly one of the most pleasant surprises of our trip to Crete. From the very first moment, we felt welcomed with genuine warmth and hospitality. The staff are exceptional, always smiling, kind and ready to help with any request. A special mention goes to Mrs. Evangelia, whose kindness, courtesy and availability went far beyond what one could normally expect. She has a wonderful way of making guests feel not simply welcomed, but truly cared for - we still remember the Greek dance night at the pool side! The resort itself is beautiful, spotless, well maintained and easily accessible. Our room was lovely, comfortable and impeccably clean, with everything well looked after and in excellent condition. And then there is the food! We ate extremely well, with delicious dishes and generous portions, all at prices that are, quite frankly, incredibly reasonable. The value for money is exceptional – something that is becoming increasingly rare. The resort also has a very spacious parking area, which is extremely convenient. Guests can enjoy a swimming pool, tennis court, basketball hoop and mini-golf, all in an atmosphere of absolute peace and tranquillity. But perhaps what makes Alexander Mountain Resort truly special is its location. Gerakari is a beautiful, peaceful mountain village, far from the crowds and tourist chaos of Crete’s famous coastal resorts. Staying here gives you the opportunity to discover a quieter Crete, genuine, still full of the flavours, traditions and atmosphere of the island of the past. For us, Alexander Mountain Resort is not simply a place to stay: it is a destination in itself, a little pearl hidden in the Cretan mountains. Highly recommended !

Diese Hotel ist eigentlich sehr schön und auch sehenswert. Wenn man diesem kleinen Juwel eine Seele geben würde könnte man die Schönheit erkennen.

Die Außenanlagen werden leider nicht gepflegt. Pool Liegen sind defekt , das Licht in der Pool Toilette funktioniert nicht , die Scheiben der Poolbegrenzung wurden schon lange nicht gereinigt und ,und ,und. Schade um dieses eigentlich schöne Objekt.

Un séjour absolument reposant au cœur de la montagne crétoise, parfait pour déconnecter. Le calme, l'authenticité du lieu et l'amabilité incroyable du personnel rendent l'expérience inoubliable. Les équipements (piscine, tennis, mini-golf et le superbe musée pittoresque) ainsi que la piscine dédiée aux suites sont de véritables atouts.

Seuls bémols : le petit-déjeuner manque un peu de variété malgré sa bonne qualité, et certains équipements comme le mini-golf mériteraient d'être rénovés, même s'ils restent fonctionnels. Une adresse authentique que je recommande chaudement !

Un endroit hors du temps avec une déco de collectionneurs qui crée une ambiance chaleureuse. Les chambres sont spacieuses. L’accueil est poli mais manque un peu de chaleur. Peut-être la barrière de la langue. La piscine est bien entretenue. Très belle vue sur la montagne.

Un gros bémol sur le petit déjeuner surtout si l’on ne mange pas salé. Pas de lait chaud, pas de miel, des fruits d’hiver ou en boîte. Pas de yaourt juste un fromage blanc très compact, idéal pour le salé. La lumière du couloir qui ne s’éteint pas la nuit et filtre sous la porte, la literie un peu molle mais c’est une histoire de goût. Le menage de la chambre oublié 2 fois sur 7 jours.

The hotel is in a beautiful location, and it is clear that a significant and expensive investment has been made in the facilities and the property itself.

Unfortunately, our overall experience was seriously affected by the level of service. When it came to the staff and, especially, the management, the way customers were treated was, to say the least, amateurish and certainly not in line with the standard the hotel appears to aim for. It is a real shame, because this is a very nice property in an excellent location. With more professional management, better customer service, and greater respect for guests, the experience could have been completely different.

Personalas paslaugus. Ir pliusas ir minusas, kad viešbutis kalnų apsupty. Tikrai mažai turistų, galima pajusti vietinę dvasią.

Atoki vietovė. Iki jūros toli. Viešbučio baseinas aptvertas stikline sienele. Nusimaudei ir lipk lauk :) Tradiciškai "graikiškai" per siauras dušas.

Het ontbijt was meer dan voldoende en van een een goede kwaliteit en variatie. Ook was er in het hotel een museum waarin je als het ware een wandeling door de tijd kon maken dit was een hele leuke en bijzondere ervaring. De rust van de omgeving in de bergen is heerlijk.

Auf E4-Fernwanderung völlig unerwartet zu solch üppigem Luxus gekommen: top Ausstattung, superinteressantes integriertes "Museum", tolle Poolbar, faire Preise = 10+++ !

Uitzonderlijk sfeervol hotel in een prachtige, rustige omgeving aan de westkant en met uitzicht op de Psiloritis. De weg van Spili naar Gerakari is wonderschoon. Kamers zijn keurig ingericht en het bed is goed. Ontbijt is zeer goed. Heerlijk zwembad. ‘s-Avonds koelt het heerlijk af. Wij komen jaarlijks een paar dagen.

Resort pas entretenu...salle de sports,mini golf... non opérationnels... Hôtel et les annexes récréatives ne correspondent pas à la description sur Booking.

Sehr schön wenn man ein paar Tage die Berge erkunden will. Sehr nahe an Kretas höchstem Berg und einzigartige schöne Einrichtung. Alles ist genau wie auf den Bildern und man kostenfrei Tennis oder Golf spielen. Der poolbereich auch sehr schön. Hier ist es etwas ruhiger und weniger touristisch, da glaube ich mehr einheimische Urlaub machen. Super Preis-Leistung & das Frühstück war für diesen Preis absolut in Ordnung!

Es gab nichts auszusetzen.

Un très bel établissement, service impeccable, une belle déco. , dans un petit village au cœur d'un coin magnifique de la Crète. Et très bien située. Excellent "rapport qualité-prix" !

Chambre très propre, hôtel très grand et bien entretenu. Personnel très sympathique.

Je ne sais pas si c'est parce que nous y sommes allés en mai, et si c'est différent l'été, mais il régnait une atmosphère étrange dans cet hôtel gigantesque, désuet et incroyablement désert au regard de son gigantisme. Certaines installations comme la salle de sport n'étaient pas accessibles. Il manque quelque chose pour poser la valise dans la chambre.

We stayed 2 nights for our 16th wedding anniversary in the hotel. It was wonderful, everything was just perfect and I was very impressed by the quality of the accommodation. I have to say it is one of the best hotels I stayed in Crete and I am very impressed by the whole concept. Wish we could have stayed longer and definitely will be back.

Außergewöhnliches Hotel abgelegen in den Bergen mit einem Museum. In so einem Hotel waren wir noch nie! Schöner Pool und gute Taverne in der Nähe.

The location in the mountains is perfect! The rooms and the hotel as such are nicely maintained and you see people pit money in it. The “exhibition” was great:) so sorry the water in the pool was cold. It would be a 10 if the pool was heated.

Very quiet property, up in a pretty mountain area. Only one or two restaurants were open in the town when we visited (late September), so you definitely need a car to get around for conveniences. Overall, the property was a nice base for us to explore the mountains.

Some of the facilities were a bit crumbly and needing some repair. The games room was closed as it was due to be renovated.

Sehr viel Angebot, sodass man Tage dort in den Bergen verbringen könnte. Alles ist super gepflegt und bequem. Das Frühstück war sehr gut.

I really loved the location ( on the middle of the mountain village of Gerakari). You have tavernas and cafes on your doorstep or 1 min away down the road.

The bathroom is quite small. Breakfast wasn't great to be honest too.

Very clean and comfortable room with an amazing shower. Nicely decorated, also the entrance and breakfast area. It looked like a small museum with collections of old appliciances, pictures etc. Quiet location in the mountains, in a small village with shops and options to eat very closeby. Nice garden and swimming pool.

All good, really. It's a rather quirky place in terms of decoration.

Das Hotel ist ein riesiger Komplex, der aber kaum richtig instand gehalten wird/werden kann. Der Pool war eingelassen, das Zimmer an sich war sauber und alles nötige vorhanden.

Das Hotel wirkte wie ein Gruselschloss, richtig groß, bei der Ankunft war niemand anwesend, Rezeption unbesetzt, alles wirkte wie in einem grotesken Museum (diejenigen, die ein Faible dafür haben, sollten hinreisen) aber ansonsten war der Eindruck alles andere als gut. Ich war echt überrascht, bei den ansonsten relativ guten Bewertungen, hab ich mir ein feines Resort in den Bergen erwartet, es gab bis auf das Pool keine sportlichen Möglichkeiten, weil nichts gepflegt war und auch das Gym ist veraltet. Bis auf einen Angestellten haben wir niemanden vom Hotel gesehen, das Frühstück war wirklich unter jeglicher Qualität, sehr lieblos und kaum Auswahl, einige Produkte (Brot, Wurst, Käse, Aufstriche) wirkten so, als wären sie schon etwas länger dort gelegen und waren nicht wirklich genießbar. Interessant war auch, dass sich direkt neben dem Hotel eine Seniorenresidenz befindet. Unser Balkon ging genau in diese Richtung hin, wo wir abends Gestöhne der Patienten mitbekommen haben, es war insgesamt einfach nur sehr skurril, absolut nicht so, wie man es sich anhand der Bewertungen und der Bilder erwarten würde. Wir sind dann nach einem Tag früher abgereist. Sehr schade!

Mucho potencial instalaciones enormes , pero mucha falta de mantenimiento por no decir nulo, puerta de cristal rota, alfombras roidas gimnasio abandonado y cerrado...., la piscina de las suites y sus hamacas muy sucias , no se podían usar y algún mobiliario roto.El desayuno de mala calidad, pan de molde duro , salchichas recalentadas de un día para otro y zumo (por llamarlo de alguna manera) de polvos, típico "Tang de naranja"

Große Anlage, aber sehr, sehr wenig Gäste. Das war merkwürdig. Man fragt sich, warum?

Osoblje s recepcije bilo je vrlo uslužno. Muzej u sklopu muzeja je fascinanatan, bazen je iznimno dobar.

Doručak je bio ispodprosječan - izbor je bio koliko-toliko okej, ali hrana nije bila nadomješćivana, dok je mlijeko za kavu dva od tri jutra bilo ukiseljeno. Soba je bila očišćena samo jednom od tri puta.

Les suites sont très bien, récentes, très bien équipées et dans un excellent etat. Les parties communes sont un peu vieillissante (salle de sport) mais l ensemble reste satisfaisant. .

Le petit déjeuner pourrait être un peu plus varié

Localisation dans les montagnes. Proximité commerces de première nécessité.

Petit déjeuner pas terrible. Déçue car les commentaires le vantaient. Piscine partagée (avec les autres villas) très petite et villas proches des unes aux autres. Déçue car les photos la montre beaucoup plus grande.

Nous avons passé un bon séjour dans une suite avec 2 chambres à 2 pas d'une taverne. Je conseille fortement de passer quelques jours dans cette jolie vallée d'Amari proche de la côte du sud de la Crète (plage de Matala) et de celle du nord (Réthymnon). Bon rapport qualité/prix et grandes chambres. Le personnel à l'accueil est serviable. Nous avions une petite piscine commune aux suites mais nous avons surtout apprécié la grande piscine

Concernant l'équipement juste quelques conseils : pas de couteau d'office pour cuisiner, pas de petite casserole. Et je déplore comme dans ne nombreux hôtels que l'on laisse s'installer des moisissures sur les joints de douche L'hôtel devrait mieux entretenir certains endroits de l'hôtel (espaces verts, une terrasse à l'arrière de l'hôtel pleine de fientes, la plage de la petite piscine des suites pourrait être nettoyée au nettoyeur haute pression) Ceci dit nous avons passé un très bon séjour

Θα έπρεπε να έχει ακόμα κάποια άτομα για προσωπικό. Τα λιγοστά άτομα που υπήρχαν έτρεχαν (με επιτυχία) να εξυπηρετήσουν τους πελάτες.

The location was convenient when making our way down from the North to south of the island.

The hotel interior felt very dark and dated, the hotel food options were poor. Being a mountain resort we felt it would be a place of quiet but was more of a family retreat and noisy early hours of the morning.

Établissement incroyable bon par ses aménagements (piscine, tennis, mini golf, basket ball, un salon intérieur avec une atmosphère chaleureuse et une déco incroyable ! Resto et bar. Le personnel est très accueillant. Le village est très sympa et les alentours magnifiques… bref au top !

Hele badet fløt over av vann når dusjet noe dem tydeligvis viste da det alt lå håndkle ved kanten ved dusj ved ankomst ikke at det hjalp, Frokost var forferdelig omelett og stekt egg var kald selvom vi var der med engang frokosten var tilgjengelig

The hotel is situated in a small village amidst the mountains and allows you to experience the original Crete. The staff are very friendly and supportive of every request. The flat we rented was beautiful and comfortable, right by the small pool (the bigger one is in the main part of the hotel). I recommend the place because it has an interesting history and a real Greek atmosphere. The surrounding area is worth a visit and the beautiful beaches of southern Crete can be reached in about 30-40 minutes.

Das Frühstück hätte besser sein können

Alleen vanwege de prijs-kwaliteit verhouding een krappe voldoende. De foto’s op deze website zijn erg mooi, maar waarschijnlijk jaren geleden genomen. Het voelt een beetje als vergane glorie. Een enorm terrein dat grotendeels uitgestorven is. Positieve punten zijn de goede Wi-Fi, het uitzicht op de bergen, de comfortabele suite en het schone zwembad. Het hotel is via een goede weg binnen 15 minuten te bereiken vanuit Spili. Afstanden tot zowel Rethymnon als de zuidkust 45 minuten. Auto noodzakelijk.

Het personeel is niet of nauwelijks zichtbaar, en hangt vooral rond de bar bij het zwembad. Een simpele groet zit er voor de meesten niet in, waardoor het gevoel van een warm welkom ontbreekt. Een korte discussie gehad over de schoonmaak van onze suite. Dat zou om de dag gebeuren, maar tijdens ons verblijf van 3 nachten is er geen schoonmaakster binnen geweest. Zelfs niet voor alleen schone handdoeken of het legen van de vuilnisbakken. Nog nooit meegemaakt. Het basic ontbijt wordt om 08.00 uur neergezet, maar niet warm gehouden en sporadisch aangevuld. Ontbijten om 09.30 uur betekent dus koude gerechten en weinig aanbod. Het restaurant zou tot 21.00 uur open zijn, maar om 20.15 uur werd ons rustig verteld dat de keuken al dicht was. Gelukkig zijn er in het verder weinig sfeervolle dorp enkele kleinschalige tavernes. De suite was van alle gemakken voorzien, alleen de niet al te ruime badkamer was een aanfluiting. Een beschimmelde douchecabine en bovendien zo lek als een mandje. Nieuwe handdoeken waren alleen al om die reden handig geweest. De sportfaciliteiten waarmee wordt geadverteerd, zijn niet of nauwelijks uit te voeren. Een paar fietsen met lekke banden, geen balletjes, geen onderhoud. Zelfs het gebroken glas van de toegangsdeur naar de receptie wordt niet vervangen. Verder lijkt het complex een soort ontmoetingsplaats voor kinderen uit het dorp, en hoor je soms langdurig geblaf van honden. Wellicht wordt er geld verdiend met andere activiteiten, want alleen het hotel lijkt niet rendabel te zijn. Zelfs eind juli nauwelijks andere gasten gezien. Alleen aan te bevelen voor mensen die voor relatief weinig geld rust zoeken in de bergen.
