Great location 2nd room we were gave was cleaner than the first Staff great food good
Cleanliness and tired looking
Staff very good but under pressure trying to manage restaurant and event party at the same time, resulting in service issues.
Self service breakfast felt budget.
Location, beds were comfortable.
That we weren’t actually in the hotel, but In an apartment block round the back.
Location was fantastic
It wasn’t clean, carpets dirty, windows dirty, dusty, thin pillows, breakfast wasn’t great for the price some of the food was cold
Great location and cleanliness
Nothing to dislike
So much history and extremely dog friendly although not allowed in the dining room they do accommodate by allowing you to have breakfast in the bar
Can’t say there is anything I dislike maybe no room service yet it’s a pain to walk to the bar sometimes but other then that there is much to dislike
Good proximity to Matlock Bath Promenade Lovely old building
No notice the spa facilities being refurbished Our room was occupied by wasps The room did not look like the photos The rear of the property was very concerning
Welcoming helpful staff. Lovely comfortable room.

The room was a good size and good access but very tired ; the furniture was very warm stains in the sofa bed,
The rooms need a refit new furniture and carpets
nothing
it’s old and run down
Staff were very nice and polite
The staff where very friendly and was very helpful
The spa was closed booked on the thought the spa was open but wasn't told its being refurbished.
Nice location, good facilities
Paid extra for a ‘premium’ room that was worse than the last time we stayed, smaller, windows didn’t open.
The location was perfect..the hotel is looking good but still bit in need of bits and pieces doing..we stayed for dinner which was absolutely fabulous
We stayed in the garden room so initially was like a maze getting to rooms as they are a bit further away
What a lovely hotel with the most friendly and helpful staff. From check in, to dinner, breakfast and check out, we were treated like royalty. The room was comfortable and clean and it is a short walk to the town center and lovely river walk. Breakfast was delicious.

The reception lady and lady and gentlemen at the bar area were very friendly.
Loud banging noise throughout the night, called the night porter who refused to come look at the issue. Room was dirty, there was mould in the bathroom and stains all over the floor, on the curtains, up the wall and on the bed. In addition to this we noticed on the last day that the kettle was leaking as well! Over priced for such a poorly maintained property, definitely would not want to stay. More than 1/2 days. Was promised a refund by the hotel which has not been processed.
Nope
Tv set should be on wall...more space on desktop. Curtains cant open or close properly. Cord broken Poor pillows too soft..should have spare firm pillows to use.
The staff were lovely - they need better accommodation ! We were in the annex which although perfectly comfortable needed a bit of TLC. It wasn’t clear when we booked that we weren’t in the main hotel.
Lots of stairs to get to our room
Great staff and very clean room
Breakfast a bit pricey
Good location, a short walk to town. We stayed in a garden view room with a balcony and lovely view of the pool. The staff were very nice and helpful. Very dog friendly hotel. The pool was a great bonus . Breakfast and evening meal were very nice and good value
Nothing
I've stayed here 6 times now .always very friendly allowing car to be parked up before check in. Great location. Lovely balcony overlooking the swimming pool.
I felt this time the pillows a bit thin, 2 pillows was too low for me. My personal preference though I turned cold in the night . Duvet could have been thicker.
Absolutely nothing, it was awful
It was unclean, staff were unhelpful and expensive
Lovely old building in wonderful grounds and fabulous lido , setting lovely , staff great , friendly and helpful . Will return
Was in need of a little love in some areas , but work is being done to upgrade and didn’t negatively affect our experience
Good location, lovely room, outdoor swimming pool was great.
Some parts of the building were in very bad repair, mainly the areas around the garden/balcony rooms.
Nice clean room, good size, nice location.
At the time of deliberately booking a hotel with a pool for me, my husband, and our child it was not made clear that children are only allowed in the pool for an hour a day during weekends and school hols, and otherwise not at all. This info is not obvious in the listing, and I do feel that it should have been much more explicit. Day 1: Check in at 3, kids allowed in pool 5-6. So what were we supposed to do for 2 hours? It wasn't time enough to go into town / go for a hike and return. It was too long to sit around and wait. Day w: Check out at 11, kids allowed in pool at 5. How, exactly, was this supposed to work? When exactly was our child supposed to avail herself of the pool? At time of booking, it was also not made clear that spa and hot tub would not be available due to refurbishment. We were charged a lot of money basically for B&B and there was no discount offered for the fact that we could not use the facilities that I had filtered the search on booking .com by! Breakfast: Rather lacklustre. No nice bread, limited choice of jam, no flavoured yogurts, poor choice of cooked food for vegetarians, scrambled eggs the only type of egg. Dreadful coffee, with bits in it. £150 was far too much for our stay there.
Liked the location and the grounds. The main hotel was lovely. Balcony view was lovely. Room was clean (apart from carpet)
The room was dated, carpet old and stained . Balcony lovely but furniture was old had holes in it and frayed thought I would fall through it and couldn’t make use of it anyway due to all the wasps
Great location, top not h staff
Looks a bit tired in places
The location, some of the staff were pleasant and helpful.
The hotel is scruffy and dirty. Our room no14 was sold as a double for £175 per night, I have never felt so ripped off. There was very little space, the room was less than 3m wide. The furniture was extremely shabby with mismatching handles, one handle was missing altogether just the end of a screw sticking out. The fixed shower head was so low we couldn’t stand upright underneath it in the shower. I am 5ft 6’ so not very tall! The bed was uncomfortable and lumpy, it was too hot in the room and the windows only opened a fraction. The light fittings flickered, there was no hairdryer (not as advertised) I did ask for one but a spare one was only found on the second day. We would not have stayed but we were travelling with friends and arrived too late to go somewhere else. There room was ok although the toilet wasn’t clean. I didn’t eat the breakfast, couldn’t find a clean plate in the buffet and all looked unappetising. Normally think a Radisson is a better standard.
Great hotel, friendly staff and good location
Rooms were just a little too warm
Handy to walk into town centre.Quiet location in a weird annexe Comfy bed.Helpful staff
Appearance of room, carpet slightly dirty, Did not like fact that swimmers in lido pool could see into our room.Glass in windows single glazed so noise came through.
posizione
Location was great and staff was polite
The room wasn' very clean, and mattress was horrible, it felt like some springs were dented and i have a bad mattress at home, this was even worst (was looking forward to good sleep in a hotel!) . We couldn't sleep much at all. The room floor was gross so we never took shoes off. The bathroom felt dirty and there was dirt and dust on corners of the floor and edges. Was happy to go back home.
Dog friendly. Lovely grounds. Loved the pool
Radiators on which was unnecessary
The hotel is set in a beautiful part of the world, the grounds are lovely, and of course the geothermal pool is superb. The bed was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was fine. The view from the balcony was lovely. All the staff were very friendly and chatty.
When driving to the garden rooms it was a shock seeing how dilapidated they looked from the outside. The worst section is apparently staff quaters ,but we wouldn't have known that if it wasn't told to us by another guest. The rooms are very dated and the carpets leave a lot to be desired. The blind was broken half the slats had broken off and it wasnt use nor ornament. The furniture was very dusty and the skirting had plenty of fluff on it. I thought the breakfast was included but found out on checking out it wasn't.
Historic hotel close to Matlock Bath and the many of the Peak Districts attractions. The spring fed Lido was very nice and a unique feature. Staff were friendly and attentive, buffet style hot breakfast was good value.
The spa facilities were closed for refurbishment which was a big disappointment as this is advertised as a spa hotel. The bedroom was spacious with a nice large bathroom. Unfortunately the decoration is a bit tired and there was staining on the carpet.
The location was good
Very poor cleanliness in bathroom and room in general. It was an expensive stay for the quality. Breakfast was not good, unclean plates and low quality products .
Welcoming staff.
Security of windows in rooms was dubious, unable to close properly. Food was very basic.
Have a spa package and afternoon tea voucher. Says to phone to book as you cannot book this online. Phoned only to be told no-one available as only one person works in the spa and they are doing treatments all day. Told to email them. Not great when I have several questions - no doubt lots of back and forth over emails then. Will be my first and last visit.
A hotel trading on the Radisson name and reputation falling well below standard in every area. In desperate need of investment and renovation. Shabby and tatty public areas with bedrooms in need of proper cleaning ( stained cushions, carpets and furniture). Breakfast buffet unappetising served off an unpleasant buffet station with poor quality food and minimal choice. Only positive the staff who tried their best against impossible odds
Amazing location, nice staff
Closing time of leisure facilities
10/15 minute walk in to Matlock bath, outdoor lido, I didn't use but looked nice. Breakfast, we did request other items (veggie sausages and eggs cooked in a different way) which we got. Staff all pleasant. Bedroom bedding crisp and clean. Bathroom clean, nice toiletries. Car park. Dog friendly - bonus!
The mattress was poor, needed replacing, didn't sleep well the two nights we were there, room 22. Some cobwebs high up.
Great location and good price.
Building very run down!!! Rusty radiator and awful landings and corridors.
Was really close to the centre, plenty of parking right outside the room and breakfast was lovely
The shower didnt drain properly, it was all clogged with hair
Excellent throughout
Could not use lido until 9am witjh breakfast until 9.30 no swim before breakfast😡
V friendly & v welcoming and accommodating with our dogs
Location is great.
Good location - central, well kept main area and dining
Dated rooms, marked furniture. Cold beverages and lukewarm breakfast. Advertised as a spa but told on arrival all facilities are permanently closed aside from treatment. Uncomfortable beds
the fans in the room very very thoughtful
The room did not seem very clean, stains on the carpet and hairs left behind from previous guests
We’ve stayed here before so were au fait with the location and the lovely lido in the grounds. Nice and clean with pleasant staff. Lovely carp pond near the car park. The winner for us is access to the lido, managed by an experienced and friendly bloke, although it’s quite cool for your average pool swimmer and some will need a wetsuit to feel comfortable. Situated on a busy road (A6) and yet quiet at night in a standard room with internal facing window. Good room facilities with a slightly awkward bathtub (for exiting) although the shower was great. Less agile people would struggle with this aspect and also the step down from the bathroom itself.
Little to dislike - recently acquired (?) by the Radisson group and presumably bits will be updated over time. However the breakfast was a little minimal in terms of choice - we both prefer a choice of fruit and seeds to make a healthy breakfast and not just sliced apples. Otherwise fine.
Find it had to find something that we liked
Booked the property for my husband’s birthday because it had a Spa. On arrival we was told the Spa was being refurbished 😡😡 We told them we should have been informed when we booked. Got an upgrade to a junior suite from a room with a balcony. We was told it would be filled with complementary drinks everyday. Had to ask on the second night if we was going to get any complementary items, which later 👋 on we did. Two cans of coke and 2 bags of crisps , and 1 kitkat. We had an evening meal that was Luke warm at best. Mashed potato with fennel that had been left under a warm plate and had a skin on. We got a breakfast included in the price but when we went down for it, found the 50/60 pieces of bacon that had been cooked only about 10 were eatable. The sausage looked ok, the beans were Luke warm and the scrambled eggs was going brown didn’t look edible at all. Ordered 2 fried eggs that took 18/20 minutes. All in all it wasn’t what it read like on the booking.com site at all. It says 4* but it’s a 2* at best. Won’t be staying there again. When Handed the key in to receptionist she asked if we had a nice stay!! We said we hadn’t and she asked if we wanted to speak to the manager and I said there was just too much to complain about. I didn’t want to make a fuss because there was some customers that had just turned up.
Room was poorly cleaned with stained carpets and furniture, no heating in the rooms until we asked to have it turned on. The corridor to the room was disgusting wall paper peeling off cracks in the walls and the carpet was filthy, the outside door didn’t close because the hinges had dropped. Breakfast was awful cold dried out bacon, undercooked hash browns and mushrooms cooked to oblivion and cheap sliced bread and weak tasteless coffee with no options cappuccino or Espresso. The evening meal was clearly a frozen offering, I can honestly say the worst Thai Red Curry I’ve ever tasted.
We’ve visited New Bath Hotel and Spa a few times now and it’s always a comfortable stay. Great location, good food and rooms and the spring-fed pool is a must try!
Beautiful place - great lido - shame spa facilities not working but the massages were perfect - afternoon tea was good
Spa facilities closed apart from the treatments
Friendly & very helpful staff. Clean spacious hotel with pleasant eating areas. Good choice of food breakfast & evening meal. Lovely large fish pond. Garden / grounds well maintained.
Dinner menu does not really cater for younger children ie food choice and portion size . ( 7 yr old would have liked smaller dinner , meat & vegetables or choice of pasta meal. She did enjoy the burger meal & pudding.
Very friendly and helpful staff, lovely historical building in a great location - five minute walk from Matlock Bath and also close to Cromford village. Clean, spacious room. Very good breakfast.

The location was really good and the food was good. The rooms were spacious but the carpets could do with a clean,
The carpets looked grubby and the chairs in the dining room needed a good clean.
Staff friendly, Pool and parking was good.
Bed not comfortable, Shower didn't work. Knob just span around and could turn it on. TV didn't work remote needed new batteries and then still didn't work in the end disconnected for 2 minutes and got it to work.
First time at matlock lido and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The staff were extremely welcoming, the lido was beautifully clean and the water was wonderful ❤️
Very poor, definately not 4 star, window had to be propped open with water, crack down wall, water marks on wall, decorating needed, crack and chips in sink, bed springs awful, worst nights sleep ever, left after 1 night
Out door pool Staff at out door pool excellent
Our room was recently decorated and very well appointed
Some areas were a little tired
Everything the room was brilliant
The stairs
Staff attentive and room was clean, lots of hot water so a nice soak in a bath!
Breakfast is adequate but quite basic and I would expect a 'proper' coffee machine now it is a Radisson hotel.
Dinner was good.
Overall cleanliness was poor. Had to change rooms as first room was tiny, with no room to walk around the end of the bed and the bathroom sink was broken. Breakfast was poor. Cooked items were tepid and had been left under heaters too long.
The hotel is a 5 minute walk, to pubs, restaurants and shops. You are on the river Derwent. Buses are passing the hotel so easy to jump on if you have walking difficulties. Big old hotel that still retains it's character. The Lido is a fabulous addition, there is a Spa but that was being renovated. Excellent bar prices and the staff are amazing.
Ran out of ice on a very hot day, nothing to moan about.
Lovely location, staff were nice and the food in the restaurant was delicious
Our room was unbearably warm, even with two fans it was horribly hot and we were unable to sleep. We did ask to change rooms but there were none available, but we were provided with a second fan..
The location was great. The exterior of the hotel and reception area were very well presented.
It was very expensive for a particularly small and tired room (probably the smallest I have ever stayed in). The bathroom was a reasonable size, but the shower was fixed so low that it was impossible to get underneath it! The room would have benefited from some form of ventilation in the recent hot weather, other than just opening a window. No fans, no air conditioning.
Food and staff were good
Not very clean in all areas, facilities were closed without notification.
The Staff and Spa Staff were amazing, especially AMAL. Sarah was wonderful in the Spa for my massage. And off course the LIDO POOL. We had a wonderful BBQ on Friday and an AWESOME TRIO BAND. It was nice to be swimming in the evening. The Lifeguard Staff was also very helpful.
It was very hot during my staff, and as a "spoiled" American and used to Air conditioning, I missed that. But it was nice to have the windows open and they did provide fans. Also it would be nice to have a Mini Fridge maybe in certain rooms, to store drinks and snacks.
Room good however carpet let it down very tiered and old
The hidden pool please open this to the public
Access to the swimming pool Very comfortable bed
Not being able to open the windows fully on such a hot day
Clean room, friendly and helpful staff, relaxing atmosphere
The heat and no fans
This property is falsely advertised. They use nice pictures online, however when you arrive it is dirty and run down. Paint is coming off the walls, walls and carpets are stained, there are spiders and cobwebs in the room. The pool was closed upon arrival with no prior warning, other guests left and went to a different hotel because of this. Our children were afraid to sleep at the hotel describing it as ‘creepy’. We were due to stay for 2 nights but left after 1. Have requested a partial refund, but have so far been ignored by both the hotel and booking.com. Avoid at all costs.
Old building, good service
Incredibly hot room with very little ventilation No lift and lots of stairs
The location
Service for taxis
My boyfriend and I had a very nice time there. I was a bit alarmed at the poor reviews but we found it all to be good and enjoyable. Hence I thought I would write this review as some were very negative. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable clean and stylish ... they made the sofa bed up in advance (snoring boyfriend) and gave us a nice view over the pool and gardens which I requested. It was very hot in the room because it was hot outside. I took two fans so I was fine but it would have been nice to have one in the room. The spring water pool is very nice and the staff manning that were great. Breakfast was a bit disappointing but still pretty good. It's a great location and walkable to Matlock Bath so I think for the price it was good value and we would return.
Spa swimming pool
Lots of steps every where
the Building was lovely
upon arriving at the Hotel after a 3 hour journey we just wanted to know if our room was ready. nobody seemed to know. so we went to the bar which was very limited in its choice of drinks. there were no menus for breakfast or lunch in the rooms and the staff seemed to be not very well trained. we decided to eat out. when we got back to the hotel at 7 on the saturday night there was a wedding function in a room not far from ours and the music was ridiculously loud it was making the walls vibrate. after 2 hours of this i complained and was told it would finish at 11. it finished at 20 past 11. all in all a crap experience which is a shame as the hotel is actually a lovely building. i wouldnt go there again.
Stayed at the Hotel 10&11th August , stayed in room 20 , it says it’s a superior room , quite what was superior about it I’m not sure , carpets were dirty , wallpaper around light switch was completely worn away , wallpaper had rips in , stains on other walls , curtains had pelmet’s around them which were hanging off , Bathroom window had no blind on it so you couldn’t use the lights in the evening otherwise people would of been able to see you , no air con or fan in the room so we had to leave the window open which is ok until 7am when they have delivers and bin collection , on walking to the room noticed dead flies & wasps on windowsills, we were looking forward to using the pool only to be told it was closed for the 2 days we were there, if this had been made aware at booking we might of changed our days . Breakfast was chaos nobody knew what they were doing , I asked for glasses for the orange juice as there wasn’t any on the tray and the guy brought 1 glass back , people asked for mugs for hot drinks and they didn’t understand them , the coffee was cold , the selection of cereals is poor and just one plate of random cheese was pointless , the hot breakfast was decent though. This hotel is functioning but no pride in the hotel at all , it is in need of a serious makeover , won’t be returning.
Clean and close to main attractions
Very modern yet cosy and refreshing
Location was very good and the staff were good
Cleanliness and size of bedrooms
Hotel run down. Restaurant seats dirty. No decorations or music in the spa. Dirty. Changing rooms in spa dirty mouldy shower. Hardly room to move no seating or benches. No private area to change. Music loud during massage Lovely garden area loads of space, fantastic pool, pool staff amaxingm Only ones here no staff awful, seating dirty. Facilities closed did offer a slight discount but told some areas were open. Afternoon tea 8 x egg mayo 4 x packet ham laced in mustard inedible red velvet cake awful Restaurant silent. Didn't check if everything ok Blinds broken in the room. Trying to watch TV keeps buffering fridge empty and turned off. Says complimentary during stay. Water on the side Just before 10pm asked reception for a fan, man said I finish in 10 minutes so will leave a note for the next person to look around the hotel for one.....asked will you let us know if you have not got one....? He said I will make a note of that to. Why has this hotel not got fans in the rooms during heat wave. Premier in do!! Didn't comeback to us. Complained next morning and they offered full refund of the spa...still waiting 2 weeks later. Looking at previous reviews this happens a lot. So will be taking it further. No replies to chase emails. £164room Spa £174 2 treatments, spa lido Told could have extra lido time as compensation but overnight guests get it anyway.!! Would not return or recommend.
Location is lovely, there’s a lido at the rear which is free for Hotel Guests and open to the public. Fairly busy but still very nice. The New Bath Hotel is a ‘Spa’ hotel, however the Hot Tub, sauna and steam rooms are under renovation so be prepared to be a little disappointed. Staff were all friendly. The hotel could do with some tender loving care, a compassionate window cleaner and a person with a pressure washer. Rooms are large but take it from me if you’re bringing heavy luggage ask for a room on the first floor. We had a junior suite on the top floor and my husband was sweaty by the time he got our suitcase up the staircase. It is a beautiful building all that being said. We went for the half board option which turned out to be value for money.
Location good. Staff very friendly and helpful. Dinner good.
Duvet too hot in summer heat with no alternative. Breakfast good but a bit more variety needed.
This was a great hotel, staff were absolutely fantastic they really went above and beyond. The pool were absolutely spot on too. Breakfast was perfect although we didn’t dine at night food looked great. 😌 overall lovely stay thank you ☺️
The team are all lovely, welcoming and friendly from the front desk to the bar and restaurant but this is where the praise stops. We have status with Radisson and stay in their properties a lot… but not this one again. I booked a superior room and it was incredibly tired and really quite small compared with the photos on the website. The carpets were stained, the curtains and blinds torn and broken, chairs stained and old. The bed was a small queen size and not comfortable. Really old pillows of very dubious quality and comfort. There is no aircon in the property but we asked for a fan and the very nice guy on the front desk sorted that for us. There were alot of dead wasps on the carpets in the corridors. We had supper in the restaurant which was average at best. The side salad on the burger was just lettuce and not dressed. Breakfast was fine if you want cooked options… no egg options just scrambled. There was no fruit left and it wasn’t replenished. There was no jam or honey on the buffet but it was on some tables in portion packs but not on ours. On check out we were charged for breakfast even though it’s always included with VIP status and the 15% food discount was not honoured either. After some discussion breakfast charge was removed but I was told that the food discount is only available at participating properties. Never been told that before. I very rarely leave a bad review as there is just no need but this hotel is just not good and should not be carrying the Radisson Individual brand name as it sorely lets it down.
The hotel was fantastic, food was fantastic and staff were fantastic
Bit shabby around the apartment side of the hotel but that's being picky
Great breakfast. Lots of choice. Saved our bags until our room was ready. Let us get ready on the spa.
I booked/ was expecting a twin room but got a double instead. The night staff didn't seem to know the cost of breakfast. They said £20 instead of £12.
Great location to Matlock bath itself 5-10 mins walk
Spa was not open due to revamp but pool was open from Thursday to Saturday
Dear Sir/Madam, We booked this hotel specifically because it was advertised as dog friendly. Upon arrival, our first impressions were very positive. The exterior grounds, including the lovely koi pond and surrounding areas, looked beautiful. Check-in was smooth and the staff were polite and welcoming. Unfortunately, things quickly deteriorated once we reached the rear of the property. The area was let down by overflowing waste bins and a building that appeared tired, neglected, and in need of significant repair and maintenance. Although the room initially appeared acceptable, the overall condition was extremely disappointing. The following issues were noted: The waste bin was filthy. The carpet was heavily stained and dirty. The pillows were in a poor condition and well past their useful lifespan. The furniture was very old and dated. The telephone was dirty. The TV remote control was dirty. The television itself was of poor quality. The advertised king-size bed was actually two single beds pushed together. The bathroom extractor fan was not working. While the bathroom was the cleanest area of the room, the corridor serving the guest rooms was tired, worn, and in need of refurbishment. Breakfast was enjoyable; however, even here there were concerns regarding cleanliness and presentation. Many of the chairs had visible food stains, while the tables felt sticky and did not appear to have been cleaned with an appropriate food-safe cleaning product. Considering the price we paid for the room, which did not even include breakfast, the overall experience was extremely poor. As this is a Radisson property, I was genuinely surprised by the condition of the hotel. In my opinion, the building requires substantial investment, refurbishment, and maintenance to bring it back to the standard one would reasonably expect from the Radisson brand. If the rear rooms are designated as dog-friendly rooms, this should not be used as justification for their poor condition. We have stayed in many high-quality and luxury hotels with our pets, and this was one of the most disappointing experiences we have encountered. Fortunately, we were only staying for one night. Had our stay been longer, I would have requested a refund and sought alternative accommodation. After a long and tiring day, arriving late left us with little practical choice. Please pass this feedback on to Head Office, as I will also be writing to them directly. For additional context, my son's family room, which did not include a dog, was in an even worse condition than ours. I look forward to your response.
Went here recently and receive amazing, quick, and polite service from a bar member named Ruby. Served me and my friends coffee and they was outstanding one of the best i’ve had in a long time not to mention the coffee art was good aswell. Would 100% recommend!
All the staff are absolutely lovely, friendly and helpful. A family group of 6 adults, we ate breakfast twice, lunch once and evening meal once in the hotel, all serving staff were great, the food was a good standard, breakfast is all completely self serve, the coffee wasn’t hot but bearable, staff low in number. My elderly mum was delighted with the young girl working in the bar area on the Saturday, she was friendly and helpful and really looked after my mum, wish we knew her name. The hotel is in a lovely spot, the spring water pool well used and the grassed area around, pool staff were helpful with a sense of humour.
This was our third visit, the last 3 years ago. The hotel could be so lovely with some TLC and a deep clean. It desperately needs updating is a lot of areas, it’s a shame. We stayed in ground floor rooms with a balcony overlooking the pool. There was a big party in the function room in the evening, as there had been on our last visit and not a problem then but sadly a group of teenagers insisted on running up and down just below the balconies to our rooms, they were rude and noisy and continued until well after 12am when the party finished, we couldn’t sleep for the noise and tried phoning reception for help but they never answered. Such a shame, it has so much potential, we won’t be going back.
Really calm and pleasant main building and outside spaces.Staff were friendly and professional.Spa staff were exceptional
I did not like the lack of information about the realities of moving between main building and the annexe our room was in.I had a senior with me who was not good with stairs and that was not made at all clear that 6 lots of stairs would be necessary to access main hotel area. The rooms lacked basic information about hotel facilities and menus etc.I didn't like watching a single cleaner having to work alone..I thought she did a great job in clearly under resourced circumstances.linked to that..i consodered a check in time of 3.00 pm later than most hotels i have stayed in...so to be kept waiting for an hour was not ok.Staff we dealt with were lovely and gave us a drink. But,the actual manager visibly saw we were with luggage and waiting and at no point asked if we were ok or needed something.I'm sure his business meeting was important but i thought it rude to not acknowedge guests where they shouldnt be expected to be.We understood the local business of the lido...but as non strong swimmers,we felt inhibited to fully profit from the time and booking in the hotel because we didnt feel included enough to use the lido when unable to swim the lengths required..my mother is not strong enough for that but we felt guests needs came second to the lido.I have stayed for far less money in better rooms. The fact the shower screen couldnt open due to the side bath rail baffled me. Bathroom clean but shabby not in a chic way.The abscence of a mini fridge or mini bar was not essential but the value of the room price was over priced.
Staff were helpful and welcoming and the bed was really comfortable. I had an upstairs balcony room, so it was lovely to sit outside in the evening.
More could have been made of the grounds. It has been a hot dry summer but some Mediterranean planting could have really brightened up the beds and made the most of the space.
Reportedly very good
The sink was crazy paved. Looked a little tired upstairs. No walk in shower for my 80 yr old friend.
The blinds wouldn't go up. The window wouldn't stay open. There wasn't enough waiters serving for breakfast. The breakfast was cold. We will never stay here again. It was supposed to be a special day for my new wife as we had only just got married 3 hours before and it really let us down
Read some pretty mixed reviews before booking. We had a garden room opposite the lido next to the main Georgian building. Join the Radisson rewards scheme, as the rate is better than using one of the booking sites. The drive round and entrance to the garden rooms does remind of 1970s holiday camp BUT the rooms are really nice and loved the little balcony. I love outdoor swimming 🏊 so the lido was fabulous. Check dates before booking though, as it’s chlorine free so shuts for cleaning 🧹 every month. Breakfast 🍳 is ok. Not the biggest choice. Chef struggled to cook poached or fried eggs to order, but the wait staff and all staff were really attentive and friendly. Evening food was excellent. Great steak. Film 🎥 crew were there when we stayed which was added entertainment for us :) Chatsworth is not far to drive. Great base. If going to Abraham heights make sure you have good walking 🚶 boots 🥾 on!
Great location. Really dog friendly. Room clean, great en-suite. Breakfast and evening meal excellent, portions in evening very good. All staff super friendly.
Due to age of building some bits a bit tired, it must be a nightmare to upkeep and they are making pretty good job.
