Excellent room and very clean. Dinner was very good Good choice for breakfast
We had a lovely stay at the Maypole. The staff were very kind and friendly nothing was too much bother. The food was really tasty and well presented.
The bed was too firm for my husband.
The staff were friendly and helpful and the location was perfect - in a lovely village and close to Walesby Forest.
The bar was closed every night by 9pm due to lack of staff. The fan in the room was not nearly strong enough to cope with the heat. More vegan options at breakfast would have been nice.
The staff were all very friendly and pleasing. The bedroom was clean and comfortable.
On arrival we were told that food would only be served up until 6.30pm as they had a wedding party booked who actually kept us awake till well gone midnight with the noise..If we had known this beforehand then we would have booked an alternative place.
Location evening meal service

Mooie parking en een ruime kamer. Goed gelegen, niet ver van de autostrade.

Pretty village
Limited restaurant selection just pies. room was really hot and disturbed by staff fiddling with the door lock then asked why I did not answer when they knocked ????
Location was good.

Great spot, not noisy and close to the event. Staff are really friendly. Room is comfortable
The road noise crept in in the morning
Location, and that’s it has one off the best kitchens, chefs in the area.
Just the time it takes to get served, however the wait is worth it, looks to be short staffed
Great place for a short stay. Comfortable bed and clean.

How can you send me this questionnaire. We couldnt get into the property it was locked up at 8.30pm and we require a refund plus compensation
Nice location Rooms clean Staff very friendly
Everything was fine
Clean , spacious rooms Friendly staff
Breakfast not included
In the area for a big wedding. We were upgraded as the room type we selected had not been prepared for us when we checked in during afternoon. The new room was much larger and had a lovely bathroom. Staff friendly and helpful
Room needed a bit of TLC - peeling wallpaper and paintwork etc. Was quite warm but only had tiny windows so glad it wasnt the heatwave week! The second room (twin for the kids) was fine except the bathroom door didn't close so neither could be convinced to have a shower due to lack of privacy. My parents also booked a room and went to check in at 8.30pm but there was no-one around and it was all locked up and in darkness. (Check-in info stated 2pm - 10pm) They couldnt contact anyone (the number was on door apparently but it was all in darkness and torrential rain so my parents missed this) as a result they were unable to check-in and had to drive home after the wedding. Post ode on booking.com took us to wrong place so beware. Look it up on google maps instead.
Fantastic room, good value, decent brekkie. Friendly staff - all good
Very clean, excellent facilities and wonderful, friendly staff. Our room was ready when we arrived early, but very much appreciated that there was the option for a partial check in to at least receive your key if it wasn’t. Would recommend!

Staff were very helpful, lovely people
Staff were excellent so kind and helpful. Room was super comfy. We needed to check in early for a wedding which was all done with no hassle. Breakfast was lovely too. It was quiet so got a good nights sleep.
No issues
We had dinner with our family and the food was excellent. The hotel is very clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was very large. Ample parking. Good selection of drinks at the bar.
There was no option for cooked food at breakfast. The only choice was a full English breakfast. We prefer small meals. We certainly do not like to waste food, which we did.
We booked two rooms at the Maypole for a one night stay to break up our journey. The rooms were clean and well appointed. There was ample parking and it was a quiet location. We would recommend the Maypole as a stopover.
Rooms where lovely. Service was excellent
Staff were lovely and good drink choice was great
It was abit dated, felt like it could do with abit of a pick me up. Bed was very hard wasn’t the comfiest
The location
I booked a Deluxe En-Suite Double Room for two people for one night, paying £90. The room we were given was completely unacceptable and, in my view, was nowhere near the standard of accommodation described when I made the booking. When we checked in, we were shown to a room that was still full of another person's personal belongings. These included clothes, controlled prescription medication, books, other medication, incontinence pads and empty wrappers, along with numerous other personal items. The smell in the room was also unbearable. When we immediately raised our concerns with staff, we were told that the room was actually the landlord's own room and that he had decided to let it out while he was away on a spa break because the Maypole was fully booked and if his stuff was not on display we would be non the wiser. This explanation was extremely concerning, particularly as the room had clearly not been properly prepared for paying guests. The condition of the room was disgusting. The bedsheets appeared to be heavily soiled and black with dirt, there were what appeared to be faecal stains on the walls, and the overall condition strongly suggested that the room had not been properly cleaned or maintained. We paid £90 for a Deluxe En-Suite Double Room and reasonably expected a clean, safe and suitable room for two people. Instead, we were provided with what appeared to be someone's occupied private bedroom, containing their personal possessions and medication, in an unhygienic and unacceptable condition.
Very friendly staff, comfy room, lovely location.

The staff were really friendly and helpful. I am told by other guests that their rooms in the main building were nice. The continental breakfast was included and had lovely fresh fruit every day. Fantastic location with pubs and walks nearby. Great for the festival I was visiting.
Sadly my room had not been cleaned properly before I arrived. There were human hairs on the loo / shower and dog hairs on the carpet. The room was an absolute green house as it had large glass windows and a glass door which can't be left open at night as it is ground floor. It must be great in winter but in the heatwave this summer I hardly slept a wink. The fan they provided was tiny and not powerful.
Exceptional value for money. Lovely staff. Superb food. Fantastic all round experience 👏
Nothing.
Property in a beautiful setting, with great little bar and restaurant. Food absolutely incredible and fresh. Service was amazing with lovely friendly staff! Very well priced and really enjoyed my stay!!
Nothing at all, loved it!!
That a bacon sandwich was offered free due to the alarm going off from 6.00am till past 8.00am
No staff member on site 24 7 so when fire alarm went off. It was on for over 2 hours and everything mental. Apparently according to the staff happens quite often when the same couple book in. Why let them stay if this is the case?
Room was clean and very large. Does what it says on the tin, the outstanding part was the staff. The manager spent time talking to us about the history of the hotel even though they had been working 15hrs. The chef made us a vegan meal, even though it wasn't on the menu and was 10 mins before the kitchen closed...and it was great freshly cooked fresh food. Every staff member was lovely and couldn't do enough to help No ghosts either
Food was fantastic went out of their way to help us,
everything
It was great for what we needed for a night, wedding at the Pumping House, used the ACE ABC taxi, recommended by the hotel and could t fault them after reading some comments. Would stay here again, wish breakfast was included but no show stopper.
Nothing negative
Convenient to our venue
Key code given to late arrival who then walked into room when we were in bed at 11.05 pm.
Lovely bar and restuarant
Breakfast was poor. Availability of the menu was not available.

Peaceful location, excellent food & service

I booked a double room, which turned out to be a double/twin room, and it indeed had twin beds. The bed was comfy, though you have to make it yourself! Nice bathroom and shower. Good-sized room with plenty of sockets. Tea/coffee making, hanging space and a tiny hairdryer. Glad I brought my own. The room was in a single-storey row of rooms facing the car park - like a US-style motel. Onsite restaurant with a decent menu and a bar.
Everything was ok. If I had needed to close the window above the front door, I would have needed assistance as I couldn't reach it!
Good location, easy parking, comfortable well supplied room, good selection on menu, friendly helpful staff.
Due to the local heatwave the room was too hot. There is a fan in the room.a short breat at The Maypole
Perfect location with pub and restaurant on site and quality, great value food.
Nothing to not like
GOOD LOCATION EFFICIENT STAFF
MOULDY SHOWER TOO HOT. IF THIS HOT WEATHER IS TO CONTINUE AS IS PREDICTED THEN NEEDS TO INVEST IN AIRCON.
Despite the heat the room had a fan, the windows opened and kept it at an acceptable temp level. Staff were great. Food had large portions and tasted great.
Location
Staff where very rude no respect for my custom
Friendly and welcoming staff, comfortable and clean. Staff very attentive and polite, prompt service and facilities excellent. Despite previous reviews, we heard no traffic noise and had a great nights sleep,
Breakfast was excellent but would have liked beans/tomatoes as it was slightly dry but tasty
Friendly Staff and cleanliness
For £90 a night, The Maypole in Wellow offered reasonable value, but overall the experience was somewhat disappointing. The room had its own private entrance, similar to an American motel, which I actually quite liked. The room itself was clean, and the ensuite bathroom was modern with a good shower. Tea and coffee-making facilities were provided, and room service was available, although we did not use it.Unfortunately, the room became extremely hot with very little airflow. Given that temperatures reached 31°C just a couple of days before our stay, I can only imagine how uncomfortable it must have been then. The room felt rather like a fishbowl. Another issue was the toilet, which was not properly secured to the floor and moved every time it was used. Apart from being concerning, it was also quite noisy during the night when trying not to disturb your partner. The staff throughout our stay were lovely, friendly and professional. It was obvious they were working with limited resources, yet they remained efficient and helpful at all times. We had booked dinner for four people, as I was meeting my two sons. I had originally reserved a table for 6:15pm, the hotel called to ask if we could move the booking to 7pm due to demand, which was not a problem. On arrival we were informed there would still be a wait, and we were eventually seated around 45 minutes later. This was not due to a lack of tables, as many remained empty, but because there was only one member of kitchen staff working. The food was mixed. My lamb rump was delicious, while my husband found his steak and ale pie dry and the chips overcooked, leaving much of the meal uneaten. One son's burger was fairly unremarkable, while my other son thoroughly enjoyed the sea bass and risotto. The bar furniture also appeared tired and well-worn, giving parts of the hotel a slightly neglected feel. I would rate The Maypole between two and three stars. The cleanliness of the room and the excellent staff elevated the...
Room was clean and comfortable and the shower was new and with excellent water pressure. Nice breakfast too. EV charging points are available.
Unfortunately it was a very hot day at the end of hot week. The room has a large window and glass door and faces straight into the morning sun and was impossible to cool in the evening. The only way was to leave the door open, but with the room facing the car park, it was not really and option for long. The weather is no one's fault of course, but we slept badly as a result. Some shading outside would have helped. A fan was provided, but it only really circulated hot air.
Nice clean room
Evening meal closed early.
L'accueil
C'est un tres petit detail , la dimension de la télévision trop petite depuis le lit
Where it’s situated
Room very light inside no proper curtains to stop morning light in . Extremely warm inside no ventilation or air on
Hard to find using GPS
The Maypole is a very attractive looking Hotel . It's in a very pretty village. The room is quite large plenty of draw space, the bathroom is large. Plenty of tea n coffee available. The Sunday lunch was excellent and service excellent. The staff were very helpful. We will definitely return. We had our dog with us he was not allowed in the restaurant but he was made very welcome in the bar.
Nothing at all
Lovely cosy stay , clean and welcoming
Nothing
Its location and available car parking
The room was very dated and in poor decorative order. The net curtain was badly torn and was hanging down due to broken curtain hooks, the paint on the ceiling over the shower was badly blistered and flaking. The valance sheet on the bed was very stained. The cleaning standards lacked attention to detail. I have photos of the dirt build up in the shower. We were in the noisiest rooms in the house we had traffic noise through the night so didn’t sleep well. We were greeted very aggressively on arrival- despite writing to the hotel in advance and being reassured our early arrival wouldn’t be a problem, we were greeted sharply and told rudely in no uncertain terms that we would have to pay £10 to check in early! Even though we’d made it very clear we understood and had no expectation of being allocated our rooms until after 2pm. It was a very unpleasant and unexpected start to our stay. I didn’t bother to inform the hotel of our feelings and findings- after the greeting we received and given we were only there for a few days we got on with it.
Room 11 has no blind above the door for the window so the light is a problem when trying to sleep.
Good location , nice welcoming bar and eating area. Good food Friendly staff Easy parking
Our room was in need of a tidying up, Mainly paintwork (room 13 ). Lock on front door was problematic. Room was really hot due to the nice weather and would have benefited from a small fridge for our water and drinks .
i had such a wonderful stay here at the weekend. Julie was lovely as were all the staff. my room was amazing. so quiet and clean. I would definitely recommend staying here and can't wait to come back.
Room itself was lovely, clean and nice having chairs and a table outside the front. Could also park right in front of the room.
The room was just too hot. No opening windows (apart from small one above door) and couldn't have the door open in the night for safety. We'd booked late check out but ended up leaving early as just too hot and couldn't sleep. A fan was provided but wasn't sufficient. Shame as the room itself was lovely. Wont be booking again this time of year. For reference, the temperature that day was 22 degrees.
Everything was really good with our stay! Comfortable, easy to check in, rooms had easy access, the shower was really good and the beds were very comfortable. Had a great night stay and would definitely return
Friendly staff
Nothing
Great location to venue, great Wednesday dinner menu offer & friendly staff
Attic room had one tiny velux window not enough air in the recent high temperatures
Fantastic location in the heart of the beautiful village of Wellow
We stayed on a very hot day in May and aircon would have been great - but that’s nitpicking!
I didn’t like being given the disability room. Difficult using a sink so low. Mattress very uncomfortable and light through door made it very difficult to sleep and also woken by the light in the morning
A lot of things
Relaxed atmosphere
No windows in our room, just skylights
Really lovely calm atmosphere and lovely room. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Food was gorgeous
Lovely setting, delicious food helpful staff
No WiFi in room
Great location, very friendly and helpful staff, very good quality food. Self contained accommodation good with very good shower.
Found the bed too firm for my liking.
The lady at Reception Julie was very friendly and check in was very efficient. We had a room in the main building and it was spacious with a very comfortable large bed. It doesn't have much natural light as it is a loft room.
Food and dining room was GOOD staff polite and helpfull
Room was described as superior Firstly we did not expect a chalet type room but that would have been fine if larger with a decent size TV. The painted walls covered in touch-up patches made the room look tatty. Fine and adequate for a couple of nights but certainly not superior and we were dissapointed
Julie on reception was friendly and helpful, so was the housekeeper. The property was well maintained. Towels and bedding cleaning and room clean..great location if you gave friend staying at the lodges near by. Well located for Rufford country park and sherwood forest. Car parking was easy. Overall a great stay. My son said his bed was very comfortable, and I agreed.
The room could have been cooler, I image if it was a streak of warm days 20+ degrees it could be uncomfortable, as only 1 small window on motel style room.. A fan was provided though.
Location was great. Staff were helpful and friendly. Very good value for money. Food was fantastic
Quiet location, comfortable beds, good breakfast and friendly staff.
Door lock was slightly tricky.
Comfy bed.. it was just a night after being at a wedding all day so didn’t get the full hotel experience, but the check in staff were amazing and friendly.
The bathroom door does not close or lock in room 4. Wasn’t spotless, but wasn’t dirty either.
Lovely staff, very comfortable and stylish bedroom just perfect. Nice little bar and outside area perfect with sun shining on it.
The pillows in bedroom were very hard however lovely bedding on the super king size bed.
Exceptional value, with a very comfortable room in a new annexe.. . . Staff were very courteous and helpful and we did enjoy a delicious dinner and generous breakfast for our one-night stay.in a very attractive little village with Maypole
All Staff are very welcoming and friendly. Rooms are a nice size, clean and have everything you would need.
Staff were really friendly, was easy to find, great parking, was a great place to stay for a wedding at Hazel Gap Barn.
The room we were in could have done with a bit of a deep clean, it is an old barn building so it is to be expected. Didn't fault my stay, I would absolutely recommend. But if the owners read this, please just tighten up on dusting lol! The bed was on the harder side but again that's just personal preference.
Helpful staff , lady who seems like to run it is spot on
Wifi
Location, very clean and great helpful staff.
Location. Dog Friendly
I had asked for help with my luggage as I have recently had a major shoulder operation. The young ladies went beyond being helpful with a smile and were exceptional! Room like a motel but super clean and well equipped. I could even park my car in a disabled place no more that three steps from my room!
Sad that more people were not in the bar where I had very good food and allowed to take my dog. Again cheerful and helpful staff. For me it was too much in the village for me to walk my dog - but that is a minor problem compared to all the very good points! I will definitely stay again if a motel like room is available!
My room was very comfortable and I had 2 good nights' sleep.
The entrance area to my room could do with some lighting.
Excellent value for money. Breakfast good and staff very friendly.
Nothing
Breakfast could have done with beans or tomato on it but it was tasty
We stayed in room 1 and lovely comfortable but at 6 in morning the road outside was noisy so kept us awake
Convenient local, free parking
Disappointed at poor standard in double deluxe room- ceiling over shower cubicle peeling away in need of urgent repair (was like this back in December- now March ) Radiator not working in bedroom - supplied with electric heater which worked adequately but not ideal for a deluxe room, again this was like this back in December. Bedside table lampshade loose & ill fitting, spot light on ceiling flickering. Supposed improvement in breakfast options ( at an extra cost per person) cooked breakfast option sold as freshly cooked, turned out to be self service in heated trays , lack of attention paid to detail e.g. serving tongues supplied to serve the baked beans and scrambled eggs! Surely it wouldn’t have taken much to provide serving spoons ?
Good location, friendly staff, cute bar.
Uncomfortable bed, plugs in bathroom sinks didn’t work - not fit for purpose. Dusty bedside tables. Awful buffet breakfast
Really easy access to the room and parking was brilliant. I stayed for a wedding and it was perfect for coming and going. It was clean
Room was looking tired. Paint scuffs on door frame. Door sticks to floor in bathroom. I wasn’t a fan of two single duvets for one person staying, should be switched out to a double duvet for single occupant. The WiFi - brilliant when you are in the main building. Non-Existent when you go to your room along the outside (number 9 needs a booster box or something).
Clean comfortable room
Road noise while trying to sleep but I live in a quiet area not use to cars whizzing by
Cleanliness and value for money
Nothing. It had everything I required.
Good sized stylish room and great shower in en-suite. Helpful friendly staff and good evening meal (pie night) at a sensible price. Easy parking at rear.
Room central heating only fair but with backup electric heater. Disappointing cooked breakfast buffet with no fried egg option
Lovely hotel, rooms were exceptional. Nice to chat with some friendly locals in the bar area
Nothing
We complained regarding the room number 3 and were 5 which was very nice 👍
Apart from the room swap there was no problem.
Location and easy parking
Friendly staff.
Wifi in rooms was poor and impossible to connect - Room#9
Very well organised hotel/pub with friendly staff
Our room 2 didn’t have hot water at the sink for shaving. Faulty mixer tap it seems.
Very comfy room. Very clean. Staff were pleasant.
Small tv. Tinny sound.
Room, food, evening and breakfast was top class, staff helpful too. Great place to stay or just a have a great meal.
Nothing
superb evening meal
It was perfect with our dog. It was just a good functional stay to attend a friends 60th. Staff were great
