Reviewed Sep 2, 2026They didn’t mention on their website or on Booking.com that their spa was closed. After we submitted a complaint, they offered us one free drink at the hotel bar hahaha, as if that would make up for not having a jacuzzi for two nights. 😂
For a 5-star hotel, we found the price far too high considering that one of the main facilities we were paying for — the spa and jacuzzi — was unavailable for our entire two-night stay. What made the situation particularly frustrating was the lack of transparency before booking. We actually showed the hotel staff that the closure was not clearly disclosed on either their own website or on Booking.com. Despite this, they flat-out denied that there was an issue with the information provided to guests. At the same time, the hotel continued to display the same attractive photos of the spa and its facilities, even though guests could not actually use them. In our opinion, this is extremely misleading. If a 5-star hotel has its spa under construction and therefore reduces its room rates, this should be made unmistakably clear before a guest books. I would expect a prominent warning — for example, a clearly visible red notice on the booking page — stating that the spa and jacuzzi are closed due to construction and explaining that this is reflected in the rate. Guests should not have to discover this only after arriving at the hotel. We had initially booked the hotel at a higher price, but shortly before our stay, I noticed a lower rate and rebooked at that price. When we complained about the spa being closed, the hotel argued that they couldn’t offer us a refund or any special rate because we had already booked at the lower price. However, the lower rate really wasn’t much cheaper than the price we had previously booked, especially considering that our earlier rate also included breakfast. More importantly, a slightly lower last-minute rate doesn’t change the fact that we booked a 5-star hotel advertised with spa facilities and were not clearly informed beforehand that the spa and jacuzzi would be unavailable. Using the lower rate as a reason not to offer any meaningful compensation also doesn’t make sense to us.

The restaurant and bar were closed on Sundays. Room service stopped at 22.00. I had eaten in the Arco restaurant in the town centre and would have drank more but decided to have this in the hotel, on finding the bar closed l went to the drinks cabinet by reception to get a beer I took this to my room only to find there was no opener I decided I needed a cold glass of tap water , Then l found that the cold water tap came out with hot as did the hot tap. I let it run for a while but it remained hot. I took another trip to the reception area where I reported the fault to the night security officer who said he would report it the next day and gave me a bottle of water. The next day l looked at the system and adjusted the taps and was able to get cold water working although suspected that a plumber should control this. The wing where l was had a very devious route to my room which was not clearly signed. The room was behind a street light and the central windows was fitted with opaque glass. The lights still lit up the room. There were no blinds and curtains wouldn't reach. Ideally a blind would solve this. I was surprised to find that I was charged for parking as l had come by motorcycle and was given the exit card when. I checked in. Although I speak German the lady on reception spoke quickly and it is possible that I didn't understand her properly. Although my points require a long comment, I would definitely stay again as l expect the faults to be remedied.

There was no kettle in the room. Unbelievable!!. Don't think I would stay there again for that reason. There are plenty of similar hotels in Straubing. Heard someone else complain about that also No English news channels. Very poor. Also, found parking an issue Not enough spaces.

Das Bad ist mit Glasschiebetüren unterteilt. Zur Dusche hin kein Thema - zur Toilette hin aber ebenso - keine Intimsphäre!

.No bath,fridge or kettle. There was a particularly useless bathroom basin ,and the doorless shower caused flooding. It was especially annoying to be told that there was no fridge on ‘environmental ‘ grounds in a room with aircon using vastly more power than a tiny minibar .The guest is invited to have a cold drink from room service at a surcharge of€2.50!

Reviewed May 19, 2026Meinem Wunsch nach einem ruhigen Zimmer wurde entsprochen. Das Essen, Frühstück und Restaurant waren sehr gut. Der Service war hervorragend. Die Zimmer waren groß und sehr zweckmäßig eingerichtet. Das WLAN funktionierte einwandfrei. Sauna- und Wellnessbereich waren sehr schön.
Das Bett war leider sehr hart.

Reviewed May 18, 2026Alles hat uns sehr gut gefallen! Ganz überraschend. Wir hatten eine einfach Übernachtung gesucht und sind in einem sehr schönen, modernen, sehr entspannend wirkendem Hotel gelandet. Die Begrüßung war sehr nett und das Frühstück war richtig gut !!!!
Da haben wir nichts gefunden. Wenn ich etwas finden will- die Betten waren für unsere Verhältnisse etwas zu weich. Aber das ist ja bei jedem anders.
