Pretty much everything.
Nothing that spoiled the holiday
Magical
Castle is great but don’t eat at Tricadero’s. Service and food very poor.
We stayed in the hotel portion of the Crossbasket which was extremely nice and clean. Luxury scents, shampoo, conditioner, and soaps within the bathrooms. Two restaurant options on location - we ate at Foveran's for dinner but skipped breakfast due to an early morning. Wifi worked well. A bottle of both tap and sparkling water were provided in the rooms, as well as a fully stocked mini bar.
Service at Foveran's was quite poor and left a bad taste in our mouths. The rooms did get quite toasty with no ability to adjust the temperature within the room.
Simply superb. Fantastic execution of renovation of Castle, new build elements and landscaping (hard and soft), and fit outs show a real controlling mind. food excellent, staff great and well trained.
Having to leave!
The staff is very friendly and extremely helpful.
The rain and the restaurant and dining room separated.

The property was absolutely beautiful—from the elegant castle interiors and luxurious rooms to the peaceful grounds and gorgeous scenery. Every detail made it feel special and gave us the true Scottish castle experience we had hoped for. And that black marble bathroom… I could have moved right in! 😂🏰❤️
I didn’t like calling for ice, toilet paper, or just needing to know how to work something and get no answer or when we did no one showed up to bring it.
We very well looked after with all the staff being very toward our needs.
Everything was perfect thank you
It was a perfect trip in this wonderful castle and beautiful garden. Delicious and amazing breakfast and dinner, lovely and perfect room in the Castle. The welcome was always very warm. A unforgettable experience in family !
The hospitality staff were exceptional. Coming from a hospitality background i was very impressed by the level of service and the attention to detail by the staff. From the reception staff to the servers the hotel has it just right. I will be returning with my family and will definitely be recommending a stay here to others.
I found the room a little smaller than i expected, although i must say the decor was beautiful.
It is a beautiful place and the modern extension is very well designed and equipped The rooms are of a good size with extra large and comfortable beds The staff are welcoming and go out of their way to ensure that your stay is a pleasant experience.
Not much to say here as we liked everything about the place.
Phenomenal property Everything of an extremely high standard Breakfast was awesome

Where to start! This hotel is top class and exceptional value. The grounds are pristine the afternoon tea was one of the best we have had. The Rooms are excellent, comfortable, spacious and well equipped. The breakfast was very good and we had roast beef dinners on Sunday the day off our arrival which were top notch. This is a great base to discover Glasgow, Edinburgh and some of the Scottish Highlands/lowlands. We also got some great tips from Ester on reception about best ways to travel into Glasgow and Edinburgh via train station etc and she was a lovely lady and an asset to the hotel. 5* well deserved

We stayed in new wing which was absolutely fantastic everything part Was wonderfully decorated our room Was spacious and spotlessly clean
Sorry ! there were no negatives
Alles. We hadden een junior suite en was erg goed. Vriendelijk personeel en prachtige locatie als uitvalsbasis. Dit was de 2e keer in de Crossbasket. En we komen zeker terug

Very good , pleased with stay

Stayed in the new part of the hotel . It was pure luxury. Such a relaxing vibe with wonderful rooms with the most comfortable beds ever. The staff were amazing and made me and my young daughter and my dog so welcome. Cant wait to return.

The staff. The location. The history
Rooms tiny, even jr suites. Bar staff is overwhelmed and often times not at the bar for 5-10 minutes while you wait for a drink.
Pulizia, accoglienza, camera molto ampia e dettagli curatissimi
Bellissima struttura ma un poco fredda. Sebbene sia curata nei particolari le sale comuni non hanno carattere. Il cibo è mediocre. Lo spettacolo un poco deludente
Another lovely stay. Stunning location and staff are excellent
Leaving it!
Service and staff were very good. Grounds were nice. Room very good.
Dinner was ok .. but not of quality expected of this level of hotel. It was fine (starter grilled cheese and tomatoes on toast; salmon) and main gnocchi was very good, burger was ok.. overall fine but not of quality quite expected for price.
The hotel was absolutely flawless. The staff in particular were exemplary.
A professional and friendly service throughout and a beautiful well kept location. Good quality food.
It was too short.
Beautiful hotel, excellent service, Trocadero’s is great for drinks, dinner, and entertainment.
The balcony’s need cleaned more often
This is how to celebrate your birthday in style
Everything, staff were fantastic, from arriving to leaving.
Having to go home.
Beautiful venue. Caring staff. Gorgeous rooms

Beautiful suite. Extremely friendly helpful staff.
Room was great, entertainment being on was a bonus
In a hotel of this class, closing the bar early (10.30pm) because it wasn’t very busy is not acceptable. Plenty of hotels leave a barman on just in case a guest wants a cocktail. Here, because there were only a few guests at 10pm, last orders were called.
Excellent, well appointed room. Lovely location and well placed for motorway
Amazing hotel set in the gardens looking over to the castle. The staff were fantastic and so helpful through out our stay. The food was good with a great breakfast in the morning to get you set up for the day. We had to travel to a concert venue and the hotel staff were happy to arrange our taxi's to and from the show.
The evening meal was disappointing, I got a steak at £47 and it was chewy and I couldn't finish it . The pavlova which I was so looking forward to was so small and simply not worth the money
It’s a beautiful building on beautiful grounds, even the car park is pretty
Nothing
Beautiful property and gardens. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, specifically Ian who was both the first person we met on arrival and the last person we spoke to when we left. The staff were accommodating and seemed to work well together. We had a minor issue with our room that could be easily fixed and were offered another room if we preferred, we declined but it was a nice gesture. They came across as sincere and down to earth, which we appreciated. Really nice place to stay, I’d definitely stay there again.
Poorly signposted on arrival. Breakfast & other meals were outside the main property and we were required to walk across the car park to/from there. It wasn’t far by any means, but bad weather and even something as simple as simply not wanting to have to take a walk across the car park to get the breakfast we’d paid for is something I wasn’t overjoyed about. The restaurant staff clearly needed some additional training to meet the star rating and price point. Examples such as the salt & pepper missing from the table, I ordered a steak but had to ask for a steak knife after they’d served me my steak and they’d left the table, asked for something to be excluded from my breakfast but I got it anyway (I wasn’t going to eat that item so I didn’t want to waste it; I didn’t eat it anyway), the menu listed three items and the staff asked me if I wanted either of two items, ordered a pint can of Guinness 0% (538mL) and it was room temperature they served it in a 500mL glass (the wrong glass for a number of reasons, the inadequate volume being one, the fact that they had the correct glasses on site but not in the restaurant being another). The above lack of attention to detail, though minor, really showed that there’s some work to be done.
The staff went above and beyond

beautiful 5 star hotel

Wonderful hotel. Fabulous staff who were very polite and for whom nothing was too much trouble
The only thing missing is a pool and jacuzzi which in a hotel of this standard and quality I just assumed there'd be. It's my fault for not checking properly before booking but I hope it's part of their development plans for the future.

Beautiful property, delicious breakfast and lovely staff. Room comfortable.
Beautiful hotel and restaurant, great food
Purely 5 Star
Beds are amazingly comfortable. Rooms are very well appointed. Staff were excellent: friendly and helpful. Good buffet spread. Very convenient location for us as we travel from north Scotland back to England. Dog-friendly.
Hotel was very busy with a very noisy wedding party. Some buffet items had run out including bowls and staff seemed to be struggling to cope.
The hotel is a tremendous value for the price. The art deco decor of the rooms and facilities is really well done. The staff were extraordinarily friendly and helpful throughout our stay. And we LOVED eating at the on site restaurant that had live music.
That we had to leave :)

Stunning castle
Its close to a main road which is noticeable. Electric car chargers weren't online yet
Fantastic location and facilities, beautiful castle & hotel, excellent staff & customer service, very dog friendly, exceptional room, food & experience. Can’t recommend more highly
Nothing, it was exceptional
What a great night away me and the OH had at Crossbasket Castle. We booked a Deluxe Room in the new build hotel ( when looking at rooms on the website it did clearly identify which were historic castle rooms and which were not ). We opted for the modern rooms with all the top end amenities and comfort, which are decorated to give a flavour of the art deco style. Room was a really good size, fantastic bathroom with a separate bath and shower, a balcony with a table and chairs and lots of nice little touches which were unexpected but make our stay more enjoyable. We had specifically come to try Trocadero’s so choose a weekend night to stay as we hoped that would give the best atmosphere, and it did not disappoint. A unique dinning experience indeed and for all the right reasons. Staff were very professional, welcoming and friendly. Cocktails and food were of the standard you would expect for the price you’re paying. Entertainment was definitely worth the cover charge. Next morning breakfast was most enjoyable.
We loved everything about the hotel, from staying and its restaurant. Food and wine were superb! Breakfast was amazing!
Everything was very good! Nothing to complain about as it was excellent!
Crossbasket Castle Hotel was very comfortable, clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The dinner was excellent, and we also enjoyed the breakfast, although a wider choice of food would have been appreciated. The only drawback is that the swimming pool and gym are not on-site and are located about 4 miles away, which may be inconvenient for some guests. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and would happily return.
My daughter and son in law held their wedding reception at crossbaskets on 21st may. What a great venue. Service, food, staff excellent. Nothing was any trouble. Rooms amazing. Grounds immaculate. What a day we had. We'll done crossbaskets
We travelled from Australia thinking we were coming to stay in a beautiful old castle. When you book a castle and end up in a conference centre new build you tend to be unhappy. Crossbasket is one of those places that boasts the Scottish castle experience but what you get is the new conference centre facility hotel. The rooms are all in the new build the restaurant is in the new build the lunch room the breakfast room and the lounges …… all in the new build. In fact, unless you book your wedding here or an ‘event’ you won’t experience the castle at all, except to take a photograph from the outside. Very very very disappointed.
Plenty of parking. Nice size room (new wing) with a fabulous balcony shame about the building work it looked upon but once finished room 205 will be lovely as it also has a view of the castle. The room key didn’t originally work and as the hotels system had crashed there was a bit of a wait to get into the room. Bed was very comfortable and plenty of storage. Lovely dinner at Foverans, the glass of complementary champagne each was a very nice touch and the staff were helpful with the evening menu which we very much appreciated. Food quality was good.
Breakfast wasn’t up to the standard we would expect, they ran out of pastries early on, as your order wasn’t written down items ordered were missing. The location of the toilets in Foverans is dreadful a number of the tables look straight into them as the doors are always left open, it wouldn’t take much to put up a higher screen. We certainly don’t want to look into a toilet when eating dinner or breakfast.
Location close to Eurocentral, New, Great Bathrooms and toiletries. Quite reasonable mini bar in room.
No air conditioning as it was a very hot night although open windows allow some fresh air.
Due to traveling delays we did not get to check in until 1130 pm on our 1st evening. David was a gem at helping get us settled including a request for a room fan. Thank you for all the charm provided by each contact we had with your staff!
This is a very scenic location but with easy access and good connectivity. We enjoyed exploring the woodland areas of the grounds with our dogs. Staff were smart and professional. Our bedroom was well designed and comfortable.
We were disappointed not to have a choice of casual dining in the evening, as one of the restaurants was closed. The Trocadero experience looked a bit overwhelming for two rather tired house hunters. We ended up travelling offsite and found a very authentic Italian restaurant in a nearby town. Breakfast in the morning seemed rather more chaotic than anticipated, with fewer buffet choices than I would normally expect in a hotel of this calibre. However, the cooked food was good.
Really nice food, lovely staff

Everything! From the excellent welcome at reception to the fabulous bedroom, bar and restaurant you couldn’t fault it.
Nothing.
Value for money
Room is dated ( 90s style)
We had an excellent experience- excellent staff, service and facilities. We would like to a special thank you to Ross, giving us a lovely/ memorable/ personal whiskey flight and excellent finish with your original Cherry Garden Cocktail. We very much enjoyed our experience the the Crossbasket Castle. Thank you to all and we hope to return.
Beautiful hotel with exceptional service!! Outstanding dinner!!
Nothing!!
Breakfast, room quality and staff are top draw. An excellent property.
The evening meal wasnt perfect, still pretty good though. And the restraunt staff were brilliant. Hard to find a negative really.
Easy to find. Comfortable room well equipped.
Trocadero restaurant had entertainment that didn't appeal and no alternative place to eat within the hotel.
Thank goodness my employers were paying the £200+ room rate. Room was small, bed was ‘ok’. I’ve had much better in a Travelodge, no hot chocolate option with room beverages, no green or matcha tea (nespresso coffee and bottle of milk was good though). The bath plug leaked and gurgled loudly making a long relaxing soak impossible despite the nice bath salts! I couldn’t get the room temperature to reduce. The so-called ‘garden view’ was a huge excavated area with random piles pallets and ground work machinery lying around. Breakfast was meh!!! Tea was brought instead of the coffee I’d ordered. The replacement coffee was bitter and had clearly been lying around and the requested replacement pot was marginally less ‘old’ but hotter! The coffee pots clearly need scouring! Ayrshire bacon wasn’t! And was dry and overcooked. I suspect the sausage, black pudding, tattie scone , mushrooms and haggis had also been hanging around - but not, perhaps, for so long. The poached eggs were perfect. On the whole, a very disappointing and overly expensive experience.
Lovely setting, helpful people and the food was reasonable. Great bedding
I think it's really more of a wedding venue than a hotel, but it was fine for one night.
Although we were not staying in the castle, the neighbouring modern art deco style hotel was outstanding. Don’t be disappointed that you are not staying in the castle.
Everything, it was absolutely stunning

We had a lovely warm greeting as we entered the reception at the hotel from Ester. The room was beautifully designed and had all the modern emenities. The food in the restaurant was delightful and the service was impeccable.
There is nothing I can think of
The staff were so welcoming. Food was delicious.

Level of detail was exceptional throughout the hotel
Nothing comes to mind
We were very impressed with the warm welcome from Lucy and Esther. This was our first visit to celebrate our special silver anniversary. The rooms were beautiful and we had a lovely balcony. Our bed was very comfortable. Loved the Nespresso coffee machine and selection of speciality teas. We also liked the large bathroom with separate bath and shower and all the luxury toiletries. We spent a hour or so walking round the grounds and we enjoyed a drink in the castle. To the right of the castle entrance there are some stairs and if you go down there is a lovely little river with beautiful views of the castle if you look back. We opted for dinner at Foveran’s restaurant. The food was amazing! The star of the show was the lamb for mains and baked Alaska for dessert. Special thanks to Lisa the restaurant manager, who was friendly and very attentive. We all were very impressed with the bar which was shaped like a pineapple and the lovely decor and theme of this restaurant. Ot had a nice ambience and relaxing feel. We also enjoyed a fabulous breakfast the next morning. The choice was unbelievable. Nice touch to also be able to enjoy salmon, charcuterie, breads, smoothies, Prosecco, Bloody Mary, pastries and the cappuccinos from the bean to coffee machine were fab. I had the full cooked breakfast and it didn’t disappoint. All in all we had a wonderful stay and it was incredible to find such luxury in Blantyre. After some building works and the SPA is complete it will be perfect. The staff were brilliant and we will definitely return. Well done!
I recently booked a one night stay to celebrate my wife’s 60th. We had previously stayed in March 2026 and apart from a few minor issues which were rectified swiftly our stay was very enjoyable and we were excited and really looking forward to return to celebrate my wife’s 60th birthday. Check in was quick and friendly and as Hilton Diamond members we were upgraded to a king deluxe room 205 which was the exact same room we were assigned the last time we visited so we were really pleased as we loved the room the last time around. When we arrived at our room none of the electronic key cards would open the door. We had the very same issue the last time so this is clearly an issue that needs looked into in more detailI. As I have atheist in both my hips and knees,my wife went back down to reception to get both key cards re-programmed whilst I had an uncomfortable 5 minute wait standing outside our room door. We had booked a dinner reservation at Foveran’s for 7 pm as Trocadero’s was not open on a Wednesday. We had dined at Trocadero’s during our last visit and it was sensational. We both like to look at the food choices ahead of any food reservations and looking at the hotel website we noticed that Foveran’s had a Spring Dinner Menu advertised. The menu listed a number of starters, mains and deserts along with a Market Menu which was available between 6 - 9 pm and offered a limited menu of 2 or 3 courses for a set price. After looking through all the options we both preferred the choices on the Market Menu as they suited our palate better. When we arrived at Foveran’s for our reservation we were greeted by one of the waiting staff who ushered us to our table. The table we were assigned was just off the bar which normally wouldn’t be a problem but there were a group of around 8 other guests having a drink at the bar before their dinner and we felt they were virtually standing over us and intruding into our space. After sitting uncomfortable for around 5 minutes we asked one of the waiting staff if we could be assigned another table. He said that we had been assigned that table for a reason but reluctantly agreed to move us to a quieter part of the restaurant. I would have expected anyone that works in the hospitality industry to have noticed the issue with crowding at the bar and assign us a seat elsewhere as It was obvious this was the only table in the restaurant that was affected by crowding at the bar. The restaurant had plenty of free tables available so not sure what the issue was. When we were sat at our new table we looked at the menu and noticed that the Market Menu was not available on the menu. We spoke to one of the other waiting staff and we were informed that that was the only menu they had available. I informed the lady that the Market Menu was listed on the hotel website. She said she would go and check. She came back a few minutes later and said the menu we had was the only one available. I reiterated why is it listed as a Spring Menu on the hotel website if it’s not available. She said I will go and speak to a manager. As we had previously picked out what we were going to order and felt like our opinion was being dismissed I said to the lady that we would just not bother eating in the restaurant. She had already went away once and not sure who she spoke to but there is clearly a disjoint between what is advertised and what is available. We both felt that the attitude of the waiting staff between the seating arrangements and the menu mix up made us feel we were not valued as guests. This compounded with us not really fancying anything else on the menu and we had both lost our appetite by this time so we left. Before heading back to our room we swung by reception to register a complaint. The lady at reception was very apologetic and took note of our issues. Around 10 minutes after we arrived back in our room we received a phone call from the duty manager who was very apologetic and offered to honour the Market Menu and would compensate us with a glass of champagne each as an apology. She explained that the website was misleading and should not have displayed this menu. I found this quite disingenuous as it clearly stated Spring Menu on the website so why go to the bother of creating a Spring Menu with a Market Menu (see photo attached) and then say it was a mistake. I would expect a hotel of this stature to keep their website up to date with accurate information. For clarity the menu was still advertised on their website 2 days after our visit but has since been taken down. We decided to decline the offer to eat in the restaurant as we had already changed out of our evening attire and with everything that had went on we had lost our appetite. Furthermore, my wife was extremely upset that her 60th birthday meal had been ruined in such a way. A short time later the duty manager came to our door and hand delivered 2 glasses of champagne and a small cake on a plate with a happy birthday message written in chocolate for my wife. Although this gesture was very appreciated it did not fully compensate for what had incurred earlier. After having an exceptional experience during our last visit we had high expectations this time around especially as we were here to celebrate my wife’s 60th birthday. Sadly, the restaurant experience has left a bitter taste in our mouths resulting in a very disappointing experience for us both. Although the duty manager did try and rectify the situation the damage had already been done. This hotel and venue has the potential to be an exceptional 5 star facility however, they need to address the service issues first. Since our visit I’ve noticed similar comments and complaints on reviews regarding poor service which needs to be addressed. Service staff need to be able to read the room, address and resolve issues as they happen and value their customers. This will only happen through proper training and engagement with their customers along with an experienced Maître d'hôtel to pull it all together. I emailed the General Manger on the day we checked out of the hotel but he didn’t even afford me the courtesy of a reply so it is highly unlikely we would stay here again.
My family and I stayed in the gate house on the castle property. What a wonderful experience! It had every amenity possible. Two bed two bath, a sitting room, a sun room, we'll appointed kitchen, a steamroom, sauna shower and giant bath tub as well as a garden with a hot tub. I highly recommend getting a massage. Jo Ann came to us and set up in the large bedroom. It was the best massage and facial I've ever experienced. The staff were very accommodating, even changing our dinner reservations for us as we lost track of time exploring Staying at Crossbasket exceded all my expectations.
Beautiful setting with lovely gardens, such a contrast between the castle and modern sleek extension.
Modern extension gives you everything you would want from a hotel short stay
It was just superb on every level
Super modern and clean grounds were beautiful

Everything!
It seemed far away from the hustle and bustle

Excellent hotel. The staff are amazing. Food excellent.
The food is quite pricey.
Beautiful
My wife and I took our newborn son to Crossbasket in order to celebrate his arrival. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The staff were all very personable and it felt as if they already knew why we were there. They also went the extra mile with nice little personal touches like a note of congratulations at afternoon tea and the manager even came over to introduce herself and offer the hotels congratulations. The grounds are stunning and immaculately kept with great attention to detail. Our room was fantastic, as was our lovely dinner in Foverans restaurant. We've been fortunate enough to stay in some of Scotland's most reputable hotels but the customer service here was the best we've experienced. I really can't find fault with this place and with the introduction of the Lodges and Spa later this year I think it will take it to another level. I can easily see it becoming one of the most popular places to visit in the west of Scotland.
We stayed overnight on 11th April. It was to celebrate my 60th birthday which was that day. My husband had booked a Junior Suite in the castle back in November. About a week before my birthday he received an email from reservations saying they could no longer honour the suite booking in the castle and tried to persuade him to move over to the new annexe which he refused as he wanted it to be special and for us to stay in the castle itself, so we were downgraded into a superior room instead. On arrival we were met by a very nice gentleman who upon checking the reservations couldn’t find any note of a booking for us. My husband assured him we were booked in so he called the manager who found our booking so we were escorted to the Peter Room which was beautiful. What followed after that was a catalogue of disappointments however. We went down to the bar which only had 2 other guests in it at the time and ordered some gin and tonics plus some tea and scones. We were told ‘oh I don’t know if we can do the scones, I’ll have to check with the kitchen’ - given that afternoon tea was being served in the castle to multiple guests we thought it was a strange response however we did eventually get them. The gin and tonics took 20 minutes to arrive however! We also had a couple of drinks in the bar before going over to dinner and again the service was painfully slow (with no other guests present). On arriving at Trocadero we sat in a booth and waited for someone to take our drinks order for about 10 minutes and then had a long wait for the drinks to actually arrive. On sitting down for dinner in the slightly chilly terrace area (no option was given to sit in the main restaurant area at the time of booking almost 6 months earlier), we found ourselves largely ignored by the staff. Our guests and my husband ordered steak (tasty but poorly presented) however I unfortunately chose to order the monkfish on the bone. It arrived after the steaks and it was lukewarm at most so I sent it back to the kitchen. It returned quickly with lobster bisque poured all over the top (not how it was originally served) and on taking a bite it was tepid. I couldn’t believe that I would have to send it back a second time so I asked my husband to check it and he agreed it was almost cold. On the first two occasions it was served on a roasting hot plate which was obviously done to try and heat it back up. One of our guests had to get up and find a member of staff to get them to speak to me about my food for the second time as they were nowhere to be found. I told them that they were ruining my 60th birthday and I was not prepared to pay for the fish (which we didn’t) I was informed it was being removed from the bone to ensure it was hot. When it did arrive back, I sat and ate alone as everyone at the table had long finished their food but sadly the fish was now ruined. It was roasting hot but tasted like rubber. I opted not to say anything else as we had already decided to complain. I have never had to send a dish back to the kitchen twice in any restaurant I’ve ever visited and it’s very clear that the chef doesn’t know how to cook fish. We ordered some coffees and I asked for a large Baileys with ice. The coffees arrived along with a Baileys coffee. The staff couldn’t even get a simple drinks order correct so I sent the coffee back and my Baileys eventually arrived with a side of ice in a glass! In general, the service was appalling and the food was poor. We went back over to the castle for a nightcap and met the very nice night porter who knows how to make a drink and gave us perfect service while our friends waited for a taxi. My husband has complained to the manager in writing and to date has not received the courtesy of a reply so I decided to add my thoughts here. Obviously my husband spent a lot of money on an overnight stay in a downgraded room with poor service and in my case pretty appalling food. I won’t recommend it to any of my friends which is a shame as I had previously enjoyed a couple of lovely lunches in Forevans. I was so disappointed in the stay and it totally ruined what was supposed to be a special occasion.
Excellent, could want for nothing,

Booked a birthday breakfast for my wife at Crossbasket Castle. Stunning experience. Food was exceptional, service and surroundings to match. Very reasonably priced considering how beautiful the restaurant was. Would love to come back and do the same again for an evening meal. Thank you Crossbaskets.
Beautiful setting. Lush hotel. Lovely bedroom
Food was a hit or miss. Soup was tasteless. Eggs Benedict was worst ever had. The muffin was not grilled. Soft and doughy. Served on cold baked ham. Not bacon then a hard poached egg on top. Whole breakfast was lukewarm! Porridge was lumpy ? Who can’t make a descent pot of porridge in Scotland !
It was located near to where we needed to be for a family event.
Staff vigorously pushing the dinner entertainment package: 2 emails pre-arrival, one phone call pre-arrival and two mentions on arrival face to face at check in. We were only staying in the area for a family funeral. It really was not appropriate to be so chased.
Stunning setting. Blantyre never looked so good!
Nothing really. Some building work going on, but no big deal. There is no pool on site, but aware they are building a spa.
We went with friends for lunch in Forverans restaurant. Service for a 5 star hotel was poor. Left standing for 5 mins before someone came to take our coats and show us to the table. When our friends arrived we had to wait on a drinks order being taken and only after we caught the attention of staff. The food we ate was good but the menu is very limited . We live locally but will not be back as not a big enough choice on the menu. Drinks on the expensive side.
