Provider-sourced guest reviews.
The natural setting is absolutely beautiful and peaceful, and our cabin itself was cozy and comfortable. The surrounding scenery is gorgeous and the location certainly has the potential to be a very special destination.
Unfortunately, almost everything beyond the cabin and beautiful setting was disappointing, particularly considering the price. The property overall feels tired and in need of updating, including the hot springs area. We ate dinner at Chanterelle both nights, giving it a second chance after being underwhelmed the first evening, but neither meal lived up to expectations. The food was only okay for the prices being charged, and the service lacked warmth and attentiveness. Breakfast at the café was also very disappointing, and breakfast doesn't begin until 9:00 AM, which isn't helpful for guests with an early departure. The most frustrating experience happened on our final evening. We purchased Mr. Noodles and instant oatmeal directly from the resort to have in our cabin. The cabin has a microwave and coffee maker, yet there was no cutlery whatsoever — not even stir sticks for the coffee. We tried calling the front desk repeatedly for approximately 30 minutes with no answer. My husband eventually walked down two full flights of stairs to ask for a couple of spoons or even stir sticks and was refused. We have an early departure, which is specifically why we bought the oatmeal since breakfast doesn't start until 9:00 AM. The resort sold us food requiring utensils but then refused to provide anything with which to eat or stir it. My husband literally ended up drinking the broth and noodles directly from the Mr. Noodles container because we had nothing to eat them with. Providing a guest with a spoon is such a basic request that this really summed up our experience. We also found the staff generally not particularly friendly or engaged throughout our stay. Halcyon has a gorgeous setting, but for us the food, facilities and level of service simply did not justify the price or the significant detour required to get here. If planning this trip again, we would skip Halcyon altogether.
The hot pools
The people who don't show consideration for others, mainly in carrying out lengthy conversations, at loud levels. You are forced to listen to them, as opposed to just being able to relax, and listen to the music. Conversations should be kept to a minimum, and at low volumes. Staff should make periodic visits to the pools. That would facilitate easier correspondence for communication during possible discrepancies. Other suggestions would be to implement a way that guests can isolate just the music if preferred, by having some kind of headphone system available that is water proof. I have visited many times, with the same problem always arising,
Everything
Nothing
It is a good place to stay for calming. The restaurant on the site has served delicious meals. You also can go for really good coffee to Nakusp and have a hike with stunning views.
Our stay was amazing. We did not know what to expect but when we arrived, we were so happy. Such a little gem of a resort to come stay and unwind from life. a great place to come back to at night after a busy day of hiking, biking or paddling. Dining room was amazing with staff and food, and the hot springs were amazing and quite quiet. We would come back again.
There is really nothing we didn't like about our stay. if I had to say one thing, I would say the parking beside the cottages were a bit small, but you just parked in front instead.
Hot springs always good. I stayed in chalet 2 and it was very clean! Bed was comfy and air conditioning worked great! The kitchen was well equipped for cooking. Just needed new bbq brush to clean bbq.
Nothing!
The locatioms and views, The cabin, and the pools
That for the price I did find cobwebs and someone else's hair in the shower
Didn't have any breakfast but dinner and the hot springs and the cabin we stayed in was all excellent
Things were a little pricey
Amazing location, well maintained, I love everything about it.
The restaurant has to be reserved in advance, and we didn’t know about that. Would have been good to know in order to make a reservation or bring more food with us
Cool location right on the water. We were in a queen cabin and it was very cozy and romantic. The bathroom was phenomenal . It was great using the hot spring (pools) and the in site restaurant was excellent.
People actually in the pool! Kids being in loud. Thats more my issue though.
Fantastic location - beautiful scenery. BBQ on the patio was a nice surprise.
Toilet could flush better
The main restaurant chef was excellent, though the meals were overpriced. The hot spring was interesting
Our room was not air-conditioned and was very hot through the night since it faced west in the afternoon / evening. It would never occur to me that a hotel room in southern BC would NOT be air-conditioned. The resort did not have alternate accommodation and offered a third fan to add to the two already in the unit....
Room was large. Resort was spread out with lots of seating areas
How steep it was. Some outdoor furniture in disrepair
We stayed 3 nights, no housekeeping! There was a kitchen but no dishes or cutlery! Liked the massage, restaurant , view
Changing rooms need improvement. Not exclusive enough!!!!
The hot pools are very nice. Located lakeside with lovely gardens and walking path.
Some cottages have been renovated and are poorly designed. Too small to have bedside tables on both sides, scarce power outlets and worst of all, in queen cabin #1, the tiny cabin is made even less useable by a steep step across the entire floor. Coffee maker and microwave are substandard. Both had to be replaced in our unit. Management makes an effort; the problem could be with the ownership.
Location in the middle of nowhere is beautiful and the highlight as are the natural pools. They also have a seasonal pool that is heated to 86 degrees. we had a lot of fun in the seasonal pool on a beautiful day with our grandee. Walking paths and an incredible view of the lake. This is a tough review to do because Halcyon could be so much more. Its getting a bit tired. I live in the region though so I understand the challenges of this location. You are 30 minutes from the closest small town - Nakusp. Revelstoke is further up the road and a ferry ride away plus some more driving. That takes you to Highway 1 - The Transcanada and east to Calgary about 4-5 hours and west to Vancouver which is much farther. Running a resort here cant be easy - Getting staff for example. The crew here were good but not top notch. There is a restaurant open from 3-7pm with a decent wine list. A cafe in the am with limited selection. There is decent wifi but NO cell service due to the remoteness.
We rented a 1 bedroom Chalet for a 2 night trip with our granddaughter, age 8. The cabin needs an update - felt very 90’s but it was cute and our granddaughter loved it (age 8). The kitchen was equipped with very old pots and service for 4. Toaster, coffee maker, electric stove and fridge. BBQ on the small deck. It had what you needed. We brought breakfast and lunch foods and made 1 dinner. No broom to sweep tho and I mentioned that, it was supposed to have 1. This is the kind of attention to detail that is missing. The cabin had a pull out couch and at 9 pm we found it had no sheets for it. My husband had to run up to the main lodge and ask for sheets. We tried calling but the front desk person was away from the desk chatting with someone. They had to look for sheets and were not sure they had any. Again not top notch. We got the sheets - kings for a queen. The cost was $1000 for 2 nights Sun-Tues. We spent 180$ in the restaurant (we had wine). the food is not cheap but again getting supplies here is very costly. Good service. In comparison Sparkling Hill near Vernon is very luxurious and if you get the Canadian resident special its the same cost and includes a full service breakfast. But its in the middle of the Okanganon beside a great gold course and close to major centres and neighbourhoods. to get that level of luxury in this location would cost a much much more and staffing to the standard required would be a huge issue. The 30 minute drive from Nakusp is a not an easy drive.
L'emplacement exceptionnel. Tranquillité. Petit chalet individuel remarquable.
Ruhig gelegen abseits der haupttouristenpfade. Unterschiedliche warme Pools, Blick auf den Stausee und die Berge Tolle cabins mit schicker Ausstattung, Fußboden Heizung im Bad , high tech Toilette.
We had an excellent time, the loft cabin was well equipped and clean. The pools were awesome. The surroundings were so gorgeous. They have beautiful landscapes around the resort. We will go back.
Pretty much everything. Fantastic mountain view from the hot spring pools, comfortable room and bed, great dining. Staff were great.
Can't think of anything.
Lovely little cabin which also had access to Disney +, Amazon etc. Pool area was nice and restaurant was nice (although one member of staff was a bit loud and voiced some inappropriate opinions which was very easy to hear).
I had two separate payments pended from my account. One was for the cabin amount with security deposit and then bizarrely another separate charge for the cabin amount. Meaning my bank was pending over £800. This caused my card to decline at our next destination. When I contacted staff I was issued no apology just basically told that’s how they do it. Well none of the other venues we used on our holiday did this! Eventually a poor review was posted by my husband and then all of a sudden I received messages of apology but still no admittance of fault. Such a shame as our stay was really nice.
Great stay
The pools & surrounding landscaping are wonderful. The facilities had everything you needed to enjoy a few days and bring your own supplies.
The furniture is showing some wear & tear
Great place
The location is spectacular! Beautiful views & remote but still within reasonable driving distance from Vancouver area and from Calgary. Food was fabulous!
The shower was OK but did the job. Some staff didn't seem overly happy to be there but most were friendly and personable.
Everything about the place was exactly as advertised and promoted.
We went there twice , and enjoyed it both times.
Everything. And a stunning view.
Location was superb Hot springs very restorative masseuse and massage was fantastic plenty of room in the chalet
unfriendly reception greeting Unit had dated furniture Burnt myself on the spring loaded oven door Loft room open to the main reception/kitchen space
The pools were great and the location is very beautiful.
Sometimes the pools were very loud, depending on the crowd. Maybe some signage to keep voice at speaking level would help? Despite it being very hot and sunny, the seasonal pool was closed. ***There was no functioning light on the first stretch of road so the trip back from an evening dip was dangerous if you didn’t bring your cell. There is a light but burned out? Was so for the few days we were there. Get a maintenance guy to fix!!!.******
Loved the pools and spacious accommodation
beds could be more supportive
Everything
The parking for the cabin was very small
The location was beautiful. Stunning view of Upper Arrow Lake and Mount Odin. Our cottage was cute and comfortable.
The restaurant was good but we were slightly disappointed. Higher expectations. When we checked in the woman working the front desk was a little difficult.
Absolutely breathtaking grounds beautiful place with friendly staff
The location is amazing for an escape and to enjoy quiet and nature. Even with many guests and general public visiting the pools, it is a calm and serene place to visit.
The views are absolutely breathtaking — the nature is stunning! Very peaceful and атмосферic. The hot springs are truly relaxing and energizing. We really loved it; it was a wonderful getaway.
There was a slight chlorine smell in the water, but it didn’t spoil the overall experience. Also, one large pool was closed (covered with a tarp), which was a bit disappointing since we were hoping for more options
I liked everything. If we can have a small stove to cook something, that would be even better. But still without it, we have all possibilities to cook - barbecue, microwave, and other. Very happy to have vacation in there
On the last day of vacation, seams like the pool had a too strong treatment, that has affected my skin and swimsuit
It was great could use one or 2 more choices I find
Nice pools. Clean. Location
Away from city life, made it so relaxing and tranquil. The natural beauty was awesome.
A novelty for sure and the cottage was cute. The pools are a great temperature and a few to choose from. We really enjoyed the Halfway Hot Springs located nearby as an activity during our stay.
The cottage was cute but the balcony was so narrow we could barely sit on it, which would have been nice for an afternoon drink. We ate in the main restaurant the 1st night and the food was fine but nothing special. The service was ordinary and the only waitress disappeared for what seemed like ages meaning we could not pay the bill and had to walk out to reception to ask for help. The reception doors were locked when we tried to checkout (8:30am) and there was no dropbox. We found a staff member to try help us but she was unable to find anyone either. The hotel is a bit isolated so there really is no choice to eat elsewhere. The compulsory 2-night stay seems unnecessary. I think 1-night would have been enough.
The hot springs pool was great! Amazing view From the pools to the lake.
Unfortunately we found the bar/restaurant staff rather unfriendly. They did their job but couldn’t be bothered to smile or be a friendly presence. Some of the front lobby staff were great but several again were not friendly. Didn’t know if our cottage had coffee or not. We recognize that The serving industry is not an easy one but we do appreciate when we receive genuine friendly service! It’s a big part of the experience!
Gorgeous location. Very relaxing and quiet. Pools are lovely but quite busy even in October. Most staff were pleasant.
Room was a bit tired and in need of refurbishment. Windows and screens were dirty. Flooring wasn't in great shape. Dust and cobwebs in the room. Bed was very soft. Room has a moisture problem as the windows and window sills were wet every morning. No main service in 3 mights. No breakfast available just a cafe. Felt it wasn't very good value for what we paid.
Great service. Beautiful scenery. Pools were relaxing, especially in the cooler evenings.
We enjoyed our stay at Halcyon Hot Springs Resort very much. The lake view studio, the pools, the restaurant, and the grounds were all exceptional. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Would love to return again!
We had planned for and booked two nights. Unfortunately, my wife became a little ill and we decided to stay just the one night. I fully expected that we would be charged for the second night so I was pleasantly surprised when they did NOT charge us for that second night. I truly appreciated that gesture!
The spa and staff at the spa were great. The hot springs themselves were nice and relaxing. There were great scenic views.
The beach was rocky. There is no cell service, just the resort wifi, which we didn't know when unfortunate miscommunication ended in us sleeping in a tiny rental car for 4 hours. The restaurant is not a part of the resort but is on the property - menu was limited and overpriced. Was a 30 minute drive to decent food and better customer service. Resort tried to charge me 3 separate times.
Loved the property, hotsprings and beday toilet
We stayed 2 nights at Halcyon. We loved our cabin, loved the pools, loved the food at the restaurant, and the coffee was on point too! Our critique is that our cabin didn’t have a kitchenette and we were 30 mins from town. The coffee shop had some breakfast option but closed at 2. Meanwhile the restaurant was great for dinner, didn’t open until 3. It would be nice to have a fuller service breakfast and lunch situation on site.
Great
The facility is definitely amazing!, but the staff is definitely banking on that to provide a mediocre to poor service, especially at the restaurant not so much the waitress but the food was extremely disappointing, area for improvement !, front desk the person that helped us can definitely be more friendly and welcoming , the pool should be open earlier than 11:00 am!,considering is one of the few thing's to do over there. $465 per night is a high rate anywhere in the world!.
Our cottage was excellent, and the Hot Springs are wonderful. We very much would return.
Well maintained. Beautiful spot.
A group of 5 of us girls went to celebrate our friends 40th birthday. It was so beautiful and the chateau was wonderful- clean and quiet and close to the lake and hotsprings. We went to the natural hotsprings as well and those were great. It was a memorable trip and I would go again and again!
This property is nestled in nature ideal to detox from civilization. The restaurant is limited in service: opens from 3pm to 5pm for small bites and 5 pm to 730pm for dinner. Our cabin 6 was clean, comfortable, and modern. The bathroom is equivalent to a spa. The hot springs are amazing with hot and warm water in different pools and a massive cold water pool on the lower deck. We had nature walks in the morning and evenings where we found water cascades that were true gems. We feel reinvigorated in mind, soul, and body.
Beautifully well kept modern cabins. Ours had everything one would need for a day or for a week. Beautiful big bathroom with huge shower. Bidet and make up mirror a much appreciated bonus!!!
Meals were very pricey but we were able to share. Handicap suite would be nice as I have trouble with stairs. But I managed
The scenery was beautiful and amazing, it was the long weekend so it was very crowded and busy with a lot of children. The restaurant and coffee shop were fabulous and the staff were friendly and great.
Hard to relax in the pools with so many people and children not staying at the resort , too many day passes.
Good property
Hot springs pool was amazing and we loved trails down to the lake.
Restaurant was ok - not great - and the shop didn’t sell much for cooking in the chalets.
Had an amazing time, the staff are great and the hot springs and pool are just amazing with a great view
Gem of a place. Off the beaten path. Fantastic hotsprings. Great staff. Lovely dining restaurant with a perfect view.
We had a wonderful 3 night stay. The grounds are gorgeous and the views overlooking the lake from the pools were breathtaking. We paddle boarded and the lake was freezing but it was super hot so a quick dunk was refreshing. We soaked in the pools til 10pm which were amazing! We loved the food at the onsite restaurant Chanterelle (must try Calamari, Seared Tuna, Mushroom Tagliatelle and we had steak special all outstanding) and the views by the window are gorgeous! We also drove into the town of Nakusp which is great to walk around and explore get cappuccino’s and breakfast and walked around the farmers market open on Saturdays. We loved the whole 3 days. My cousin went to the spa for massage and facial cupping and loved it. We hope to be back one day.
The cottages are nicely arranged and the landscaping on the property is beautiful. The pools are very enjoyable, even when the weather is rainy. The restaurant for dinner was very good as well and it was nice to have specialty coffees in the mornings. The rooms are very tidy and we were able to restock bathroom & kitchen supplies daily.
The room was very clean but could use some renovations.
The hot springs at Halcyon are great. There are 3 pools to choose from along with a small cold plung pool.
Beautiful setting, hot pools were nice. Resort needs a bit of updating in change rooms. The accommodation we had was good but dated and could use a refresh. Relaxing environment when we were there.
