Geweldig mooi, vriendelijk personeel, schoon, rustig, de locatie het was allemaal super.

Dat we niet meer dagen hier hadden geboekt.

The highlight of our stay was definitely the rooftop area, especially at sunset – a lovely place to relax and enjoy the views. The overall stay was pleasant and the location worked well for us.

The main issue was a noticeable damp/mouldy smell in the room, which affected the overall comfort of our stay. The room itself was fine, but addressing this issue would make a significant difference.

Abbiamo provato quasi tutte le attività proposte dalla struttura, mentre alcune valgono ogni centesimo (Kruger e notte in tenda), altre le abbiamo trovate troppo care (come la night drive di un’ora soltanto)

Wat een prachtige plek! Er lopen ontzettend veel mooie dieren over het terrein. Er is een hele mooie uitkijkplek, waar je heerlijk kunt zitten, dieren kunt spotten en de zonsondergang kunt zien. Fijn restaurant voor zowel ontbijt, lunch en diner. De gezamenlijke braai is ook erg gezellig en lekker! Ter plekke nog allerlei activiteiten te boeken.

Unser Aufenthalt in der Thornhill Lodge Safari in Hoedspruit war einfach perfekt! Das gesamte Personal war unglaublich freundlich, herzlich und immer hilfsbereit. Das Essen war jeden Tag frisch, hausgemacht und ausgesprochen lecker. Da ich eine Allergie habe, wurde für mich täglich eine separate Mahlzeit ohne die entsprechenden Zutaten zubereitet. Das war überhaupt keine Selbstverständlichkeit und hat mir gezeigt, wie sehr auf die Gäste eingegangen wird. Kurt und Nicole machen wirklich alles möglich – selbst Sonderwünsche oder Änderungen bei den Touren werden mit einem Lächeln organisiert. Unser Guide Bobo war außergewöhnlich. Mit seinem Wissen und seiner Erfahrung hat er jede Safari zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis gemacht. Auch Ronnie war ein hervorragender Fahrer und hat einen großartigen Job gemacht. Ein großes Lob geht auch an das Küchenteam – das Essen war jeden Tag hervorragend – sowie an das gesamte Team, das immer freundlich, aufmerksam und hilfsbereit war. Die Lodge selbst ist wunderschön, familiär und man fühlt sich vom ersten Moment an willkommen. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen und können die Thornhill Lodge Safari uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen. Von uns gibt es ganz klar 11 von 10 Sternen!

The mension was beautiful Nice pool and sitting area On the way up there, we already passed by 5 giraffes

- there is nothing close by. The hotel is in a private area, about 15 minutes from the main road. - there's not a very lively ambiance. It's a bit 'cold' - the food is really overpriced and -although a lovely chef- not very special in comparison to the price - the traditional boma dinner was not more than a buffet dinner outside. There is a large fire, but it is not used for the cooking. The R370 they ask for the dinner is in my opinion really really overpriced. - there are no restaurants in the nearby area so you basically have to have dinner (and lunch and breakfast) at the hotel - with the vanishing of the road, you have to take a detour of 30 minutes. Not the fault of the hotel but I would have rather stayed closer to the Kruger entrance

Camere in stile adricano molto belle e pulite. Bagno grande, pulito con acqua calda. Esterno fantastico. Staff molto gentile e disponibile.

La distanza per fare i safari è abbastanza lunga. Il WiFi non andava molto bene

Equipe muito solícita e custo benefício ótimo.

O único ponto negativo foi alimentação, você não tem opção de escolha de cardápio, a comida é o que o chef faz no dia (obs: você pode falar das suas restrições e preferências)

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Das Essen war super lecker, die Leute sehr freundlich und das Zimmer (mit Aussendusche und Badewanne) einfach wunderschön! Wir waren positiv überrascht.

We had a lovely stay at the lodge. The villa was stunning and very clean. The food was delicious and our game drives and bush walks were very enjoyable. Thank you for a great stay.

All the staff were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The food was good, and the safari itself, in one of the private parks, was a nice experience and quite different from Kruger National Park (but it's a long and uncomfortable drive to get there)

Earlier flooding has badly affected the access road, which is now extremely bumpy and difficult to drive without a proper 4WD. If it rains, only a 4WD would be able to get to and from the hotel. Our room also had a musty smell, and because of the monkeys around the lodge, it wasn’t possible to just leave the windows open to air it out. Another downside is that it requires at least an hour of driving to get to the safari, each way, which means repeatedly travelling back and forth over the rough road.

Very remote which felt more authentic for a safari lodge. It was so quiet so allowed for a proper unwind. The manager, Nicole, was super helpful with organising game drives and other activities. The pool was lovely. The food was also great!

Bien avoir conscience que le site est isolé Il faut donc prendre la pension complète si vous restez la journée. Il n’ai pas possible de se balader autour de l’hôtel sans guide. Le repas du midi est un peu trop léger

We werden de dag voor aankomst bericht dat er geen stroom was.Maar ze annuleerde niet zelf ons verblijf,en als wij niet kwamen was het no show.echt niet te geloven,ze bleken al dagen eerder zonder stroom te zitten.Het was ons DUURSTE verblijf en hierdoor SLECHTS. Als ze zelf hadden geannuleerd hadden we ergens anders een verblijf geboekt. Niet alleen geen licht,ook geen warm water.De koelkasten ook uit! Je zou denken dat zo'n lodge wel een aggregaat zou hebben of in iedergeval een regelen voor zijn gasten.Maar niets van dat al.Het eten was ook niet wat we hebben gelezen in de review.Het was zeer teleurstellend ...Worst en kip.wij zijn door de regel veel en veel beter gewend in Zuid-Afrika. Wij vinden het ook heel jammer dat de manager totaal geen tegemoetkoming heeft gedaan.

Excelente hotel, considerando o custo benefício, pois tem hotéis que oferecem coisas parecidas c/ diárias 10 X mais, dito isso, vimos muitos bichos (lindos) rodeando as proximidades, não só as proximidades, como dentro do lodge, girafas 🦒 pumba, impalas, hienas, muitos macacos etc O staff é simplesmente maravilhoso, os guias (2) são de uma educação ímpar, desde nossa busca no aeroporto, já se esmerando em procurar animais na estrada que leva até o hotel, o Barman um querido, as meninas da cozinha são muito especiais, a comida do hotel é ótima, café da manhã perfeito, teve um jantar (churrasco) ao ar livre em uma das noites, foi maravilhoso, a recepção sempre solicita, fechamos os transferes, safáris (inclusive um noturno, logo no dia que chegamos), passeio de barco pelo cânions c/o hotel e foi muito divertido e sempre pontuais, e sem dúvida nenhuma o hotel é perfeito, muitos reclamam da estrada, ops estamos no meio de uma “savana”, chove, faz sol, tem animais nessa estrada, o mundo não gira em torno de nossos umbigos, posso dizer c/ propriedade que indicamos o LODGE.

Too expensive, food not so good

Ligt prachtig in de natuur, avontuurlijk pad er naar toe😉 (reken daar wel minimaal iedere keer een dik half uur tijd voor om op de grote weg te komen). Behulpzaam personeel. Kleinschalig, fijn met de te boeken gamedrives. De bootexcursie was leuk en veel dieren gezien op de middag gamedrive. De dag naar het Krugerpark was lang, maar zeker de moeite waard. Drie nachten is aan te raden. Kamers zijn prima en ook voor een gluten-en koemelk dieet werd alles uit de kast gehaald. Heerlijke dagen gehad!

Die Lage in einem Privat Reservat ist hervorragend. Mann kann tatsächlich Affen, Gitraffen und andere Tiere sehen. Die Lodges sind praktisch eingerichtet und haben Klimaanlage. Das Sonnendeck auf Baumwipfelhöhe ermöglicht einen guten und weiten Blick über das flache Buschland. Zum entspannen und Ruhe finden ist der Ort ideal. Auch die angebotenen Highlights, wie Tagesfahrt Krüger Nationalpark oder Safaris in einer angrenzenden Wildlife Area sind Höhepunkte und ereignisreich. Wir kamen recht spät an und dennoch wurde für uns noch Abendbrot bereit gehalten. TOP!

Das Frühstück war jetzt eher kontinental - Ei mit Bohnen, Speck und Wurst. Mittagessen war recht übersichtlich und für gute Esser eher ein Appetitanreger statt Hauptgang. Der Weg über die unbefestigte Strasse ist mit einem normalen Kleinwagen fast schon für sich ein Abenteuer. Vielleicht nocheinmal ausdrücklich in der Lodge darauf hinweisen, dass es selbst Leoparden in der Umgebung gibt und man nicht alleine raus gehen sollte.

Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms are well laid out and spacious with coffee station. Meals were off a set-menu with limited choice but very tasty. Peaceful environment.

Due to the recent heavy rains the road to the lodge is in a very bad state. It takes about an hour to cover the 30kms from the main tar road. Water table lifted so our toilet and outside shower was blocked and not accessible. At 21:30 on the second night we were offered a second room but declined as we left the next morning. This should be sorted out before this room is rented out again. The big 5 game drive is in a lodge about an hour away from the lodge. Although the activity is specified to be 5 hours, you spend about 2,5 hours on the game viewer (which had no alcoholic beverages on offer and very limited snacks) and the rest of the time in the shuttle.

Endroit calme, la cuisine était très bonne, un grand merci à la cuisinière pour ces dîners traditionnels très agréables. Merci à notre chauffeur et guide Shaun très sympathique !

L’hôtel ne nous a pas prévenu avant notre arrivée que la porte « Orpen Gate » avait été fermée suite aux inondations, ce qui change tout ! 4H de route AR pour faire le full day safari au Kruger depuis la porte « Paul Kruger » et les autres activités sont dans une toute petite réserve à côté du lodge qui a plein de routes fermées à cause des inondations.. et ça personne ne te le dit avant non plus ! La chambre sentait très très fort l’humidité. Wifi aléatoire. Petites bêtes dans le lit. Si vous venez par vous même, venir absolument avec un SUV. La piste pour accéder au lodge est difficile d’accès.

A fantastic safari lodge just outside Kruger Park. The villa we rented was very spacious, well equipped, and comfortable, making it ideal for a self-catering stay with family or friends. Wildlife sightings in and around the lodge are an added highlight.

Prolonged power outages may be rare, but the lodge should consider investing in a generator so that during longer outages the restaurant, and ideally the fridge and at least one power outlet in the rooms, can remain operational.

Food was good, Staff were very helpful and friendly, Rooms were comfortable and spacious. Wildlife setting and views were beautiful. Everything was well maintained. Bar was well stocked and fairly priced. The arranged Game Drive was very good and we managed to see three of the big five.

Guided Walk didn't meet value for money expectation. We literally walk 2 km's, My family expected at least 5km walk for the value charged. Not being able to move freely from the camp on foot was a little restricting.

Il est vrai que pour accéder au lodge, c’est le parcours du combattant avec tous les nids de poule, les montées et descentes surtout si l’on vient par temps de pluie, ce qui a été notre cas. (N’y pensez même pas si vous venez avec citadine, vous perdrez votre pare-chocs. N'hésitez pas à partir en 4x4) mais une fois arrivé au lodge, vous serez émerveillé par l'endroit en pleine nature avec de nombreux animaux différents sur le chemin du lodge et autour de notre chambre! La chambre est vraiment agréable. Le petit déjeuner, les repas du midi et du soir sont excellents. Nous avons mangé à notre faim chaque jour, même si nous sommes de gros mangeurs. Les employés, qu'ils soient serveurs ou cuisiniers, sont toujours souriants et très attentionnés. Étant donné que tout était fermé, nous avons fait des balades en voiture dans la réserve et nous sommes tombés sur un bar dans un lodge voisin. L'accueil a été agréable, même si on leur a dit que nous venions d'un autre lodge. Les responsables étaient souriants et amusants, et nous avons même été invités à participer à une partie de jeux avec eux et leurs employés.

Le responsable nous a accueillis froidement, comme surpris de nous voir arriver à cause du chemin presque impraticable en voiture. En raison des inondations, les safaris ont été fermés, ce qui a entraîné une coupure d'électricité le lendemain de notre arrivée. (qui était toujours coupée lorsque nous sommes partis). Je n'ai entendu aucune excuse de leur part, même si ce n'est pas de leur faute pour la pluie et la coupure de courant, et je n'y tiens pas du tout. Les clients du lodge étaient comme laissés à l'abandon. En nous baladant avec des lanternes que nous avons emportées de la table, sans que personne ne nous propose une lampe de poche ou au moins des bougies pour la chambre le soir. Pendant les départs, un 4x4 venait et suivait chaque voiture pour éviter qu'elles ne restent bloquées sur la longue route pour sortir de la réserve. À ma grande surprise, personne ne s'est présenté pour notre départ alors que c'était le jour le plus pluvieux et que la boue était omniprésente. Le responsable ne nous regarde même pas quand nous demandons la note des extras avant de partir et Il pointe du doigt la deuxième responsable, Nicole. C'était extrêmement dérangeant, car nous ne comprenions pas tout ce qu'elle nous disait et elle faisait des grimaces quand on lui demandait de nous répéter. Après avoir dit au revoir à toute l'équipe, le responsable nous fait un rire forcé avant de nous dire au revoir. Pensez à apporter une lampe de poche pour la nuit, afin d'observer les animaux, car aucune n'est disponible en chambre. Une option qui pourrait être envisagée, en particulier car il est stipulé sur le papier de bienvenue qu'il est requis de sortir avec une lumière le soir...

Habíamos reservado con ellos todas las actividades, antes de llegar la noche anterior se dan cuenta que olvidaron nuestro segundo día a Parque Kruguer, lo solucionaron con otra empresa, pero al momento de pagar nos cobran por el mismo servicio 60 dólares más , al preguntar aducen que por ser reserva de última hora y no fue así, ya habían visto los mail y la confirmación , todo quedó en bueno habrá habido un error . Hasta el momento nadie nos reconoció los 60 dólares de más El agua no es potable y se paga cada botella que consumes, en otros lugares hay dispenser con agua sin cargo

Loved everything about the venue , especially friendly & reliable staff. They interacted with everyone, we were well received & Whenever we needed assisted, they were readily available & did it with a smile, I highly recommend the venue. My son is still talking about it.

Nothing, at first we were given a wrong room but the manager handled the situation professionally which takes nothing from my rating of the venue.

Our review of Thornhill Hotel We were very disappointed with what happened during our stay. We had booked two tours through the hotel: • a sunrise Big Five safari • a boat tour On December 23rd, we requested the cancellation of the boat tour, which was confirmed on the same day, according to the messages exchanged. However, on December 30th, while we were at the hotel, an employee named Nicole approached us asking about the tour. We explained again that it had been canceled well in advance. She acted as if she was unaware of this, showed clear disapproval through her facial expression, and walked away. At check-out, we were charged for the boat tour that we did not take, even though it had been canceled in advance. This situation left us extremely upset. In addition, the Big Five safari we did take was terrible. We understand that it rained that day, which is a natural phenomenon and not an issue. However, the safari did not even last two hours. One of the main reasons we chose Thornhill Hotel was because their website stated that they had their own closed safari vehicle. This was a decisive factor in our booking. Unfortunately, the safari was outsourced, not operated by the hotel itself, and the experience was simply awful: rushed, poorly organized, and completely disappointing for a safari advertised as a Big Five experience. Finally, the attitude and service provided by Nicole were very disappointing. She pretended not to know about the cancellation request, consistently showed a bad attitude, and provided poor customer service. We would like to highlight that all the other staff members were excellent: friendly, welcoming, and professional. Unfortunately, the experience with this particular employee significantly affected our overall impression of the hotel.

Leuke kleine lodge op een klein park met veel bomen. Diverse dieren zoals giraffen, zebra’s, Wilde beast, Antilopen, apen etc rondom de lodge en in het park. Je kunt zelf een drive maken door het park. Wij hebben zelfs een roedel wilde honden gezien. De weg er naar toe (12 km) en in het park zijn zandwegen en behoorlijk uitdagend. Wij waren blij met onze 4x4, maar er waren ook mensen met een gewone auto. Je kunt diverse activiteiten doen zoals een wandeling door het park met een ranger en een game drive op een andere park ( big 5 park). Prima, eenvoudig, eten.

Full board food was plentiful and great quality. The bed was supremely comfortable, one of the best I've ever experienced. The staff were very helpful in arranging sight seeing trips and safaris. There were also short trips and massages available at ir near the lodge. Given the quality of the food and location I thought the accommodation was very good value.

Very little not to like.

The staff members are consistently friendly and always prepared to offer assistance. The accommodations are maintained in a clean condition.

We selected the all-inclusive package. The menu, however, appears somewhat limited. I would like to suggest that the lodge consider offering guests a choice of at least two meal options. Additionally, the furniture in the room seems a little worn and could benefit from an update.

Niesamowite miejsce. Położone w rezerwacie przyrody, do którego obowiązuje niewielka opłata wjazdowa. Nasz pokój był bardzo duży, łóżko z baldachimem, 2 przeciwległe ściany całe przeszklone. Absolutnym hitem była łazienka z wielka wanna z widokiem na busz przez narożnikowe okno. Do tego prysznic z wyjściem na drugi zewnętrzny prysznic. Pod taras bez żadnego ogrodzenia podchodzą dzikie zwierzęta takie jak zebry, impale i żyrafy.

Ideal location amongst the wildlife , great amenities and friendly staff make for a relaxing stay right on the edge of Kruger National Park.

Anfahrt von der Hauptstraße bis zur Lodge dauert 30-45 Minuten durch unzählige Schlaglöcher und Sandstraßen, keine zentrale Lage für Tagestrips (besonders als Selbstfahrer), sehr schlechter Wlan Empfang, Pool sehr milchig

Adoramos a estadia, quartos e camas confortáveis, estilo rustico, otima area de piscina, animais da reserva nos dão bom dia perto do quarto, staff excelente, refeições deliciosas e safaris oferecidos sao completos. Estrada de acesso é de terra e levamos em torno de 30 min para percorrer em torno de 10km com um carro sedan comum. Fomos avisados previamente pelo gerente então não nos atrapalhou mas é preciso levar isso em consideração em relação ao tempo de chegada caso estejam se programando para fazer um safari no mesmo dia :)

Open area dining and bar were exceptionally well decorated and the barman was excellent with the best gin and tonic ever! The actual sleeping accommodation was fairly cramped with no chairs inside as it was a fairly cool and wet time when we visited. Had to keep the curtains closed as other guests had to pass by to get to their rooms. The shower door had to be fixed before use and the food could have perhaps been a little more contemporary as there were no choices and it was 'heavy' sort of menu with little fresh food choices. The chef of the day was, I am happy to note, very professionally proud to be able to present her cuisine. We didn't do the safari's as we went to the Kruger independently. Check your prices on the spa treatment if you choose to have some. Fairly long journey down the dirt road which can be expected in these concession areas.

Wahnsinns Lage mitten im Park. Giraffen, Zebras, Büffel haben uns bereits bei der Anfahrt begrüßt. Wunderbare gemütliche Anlage, sehr persönlich, wir haben uns sofort wohlgefühlt. Manager und Personal sind megafreundlich.

Alles war wunderbar Es gibt keine Beanstandungen.

Lovely rustic lodge surrounded by ample animals including impala, water buffalo, zebra, giraffe & naughty monkeys. Food was outstanding, the steak cooked to perfection and BIG portion sizes. We enjoyed 2 brai, one much more than the other (perhaps personal taste here tho, not keen on chicken drumsticks… whereas second brai was kebabs - so much better) food was always served restaurant quality. The weather was not on our side so we didn’t get to experience the pool which is a shame and the reason we had elected for a slightly longer stay at Thornhill (our down days when we hoped to relax by the pool we ended up sat in our room to keep warm 🤦‍♀️)

Some lightweight net curtains or similar at the lodge windows/doors as sometimes it felt a bit like a fishbowl - exposed to the world unless you had the curtains shut. Nothing apart from that. All staff were helpful friendly knowledgeable. Housekeeping perfect. Game drives great.

De locatie, het personeel en de slaapkamer waren heel goed en netjes. Tweemaal een gezellige braai gehad. De Private Game Drives waren ook heel goed.

Het ontbijt was redelijk. Een buffet of een aantal keuzes zouden wellicht prettiger zijn geweest. Het diner was ook niet altijd geweldig. De steaks waren over het algemeen gewoon niet zo goed.

Wij hadden de bruidsuite en mooier kan je het niet vinden. We werden wakker met 3 giraffen voor het raam. Er loopt van alles langs...in 1 woord geweldig. Het ontvangst, eten en verblijf super.

Daar kan niemand iets aan doen, en dat was een dagje gepland aan het zwembad en net die dag was het frisjes....dus maar een potje kaarten.

The house was beautiful. The house is meant to be self catering the oven was not working and the utensils were limited. We ordered Dinner and it was under whelming and overpriced .

Wir hatten einen super Aufenthalt dort, das Personal super nett, wir hatten eine Nachtsafari und eine Tagessafari gebucht und beide waren super organisiert, die Mitarbeiter total bemüht und hilfsbereit. Es war ein wahnsinnig schöner Tag, wir werden bestimmt wieder kommen, denn leider hatte das Wetter nicht mitgespielt und so konnten wir den Pool nicht ausprobieren. Auch das Essen war wahnsinnig lecker und uns hat das Menükonzept sehr gefallen und vor allem geschmeckt.
