This is my second time staying in Mike’s Dauin. The resort is refurnished recently, TV and air conditioner are newly installed. Room is quiet, neat and clean with large bathing area 👍🏻. Housekeeping is doing great. ⭐️The large balcony is definitely an advantage for hanging the wet clothes after dives. Sockets for charging is more than enough for 2 person in a standard room 👍🏻. We did 4 dives a day with our private guide, Ace. He is very professional and attending to every detail to what we need. Highly recommended to reserve a private guide if you’re a hardcore diver 😁. All in-house dive guides in Mike’s are excellent. Underwater critters are seasonal but will never disappoint anyone. Last time, we met more than 20 species of frog fish, nudi branches and coral fishes. One of my favorite dive site is San Miguel. We met so many sheep nudi, octopus, cuttlefish, ghost pipefish, seahorse, turtles, etc. The underwater coral garden named Luca is amazing too, it worth to spend a dive there. Staff are nice and polite. We felt being welcomed by the Mike’s family 😊. Food are excellent. I love their lemon buttered fish, fish & chips, chicken taco salad, pork sisig, chicken burger, chicken adobo. Of course, I didn’t miss the local red horse beer, mango/watermelon/banana shake and banana split. Hope I didn’t gain too much weight after the trip 😆😆. I will sure come again soon. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Returned after 13 years and still amazing. Clean rooms, good food, well kept common areas and friendly service. Owner is involved daily and will see that guests are satisfied with everything. Dive masters are the best I've dived with and will find you the local underwater critters like nowhere else.
I stayed here for a week and March and it was great. The rooms are good. The food was OK. The dive shop was amazing. The Dive Masters knew everything under the water and we’re very Safety conscious and knew all the Divers by name was very nice to Dive with a small dive shop that was this Professional. Also, the fact that when I got to the resort that everybody there near me by name and And always had a friendly smile. It was a great place to stay in the Philippines at an affordable price. Thanks for everything, Mike
Fantastic stay! The resort is a little bit of paradise. The staff is all very friendly and accommodating. The scuba dive trip to Apo Island was world class and Mikes made it very easy and affordable. The room was very comfortable, and food was very tasty with a large variety. Highly recommended!
Great place, fantastic staff, low key and very friendly. Had a lot of fun sitting at the bar for meals and drinks and meeting other guests. Highly recommend for divers and travelers - way more local feel than “resorty” establishments.
Two weeks of diving and easygoing Dauin life. Because we were a bit late with our booking, there was no double room available at the resort, so we ended up staying within walking distance instead. That worked out well too, but having your own room at the resort definitely makes things easier when diving. Still, in the mornings we had time to enjoy breakfast or a cup of coffee at the resort before diving, with a nice ocean view. Why did we return after two years? Because everything worked perfectly last time and we had a really great time. We were not disappointed this time either. The staff at Mike’s do everything they can to make guests feel welcome and comfortable. And the divemasters? Ace goofing around as usual with Raul and Gabby — but once underwater, their years of experience truly show. There is no critter too small for them to spot. After the dive, you can always check your camera to see what it actually was — so bring your super macro. If you’d like to see coral life as well, instead of just sandy bottoms, don’t hesitate to ask. Both are possible at most dive sites. And of course, don’t forget Apo Island, with its beautiful reefs and the drifts at Coconut Point. We would happily return again and can warmly recommend Mike’s Dauin Beach Resort to divers who appreciate excellent guiding and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
I'd gone to Mike's for my Rescue Diver course. They have an excellent team of instructors. The resort has great food, very courteous staff & the rooms are fairly priced. Dauin is a great place to muck dive, with rich macro life.
We enjoyed some great diving and a beautiful, very chill resort. Everyone was so friendly and kind. The dive staff was very knowledgeable.
Spent 6 amazing days at Mike’s. One of the places that chimes with your heart: the staff, the gardens, the food, the rooms the dive guides etc. For me this was a wonderful resort and dive resort. Having dived Raja Ampat 5 months before… coconut point on Apo island with Gabby was up there!!! One of the most healthy beautiful reefs in the world.
If you are looking for the perfect dive resort and dive center in one, then Mike's is the place to go. It's 14km south from Dumaguete. It's cozy first class resort in my humble opinion. They arrange pickup from the port to the the resort. The resort is cozy with only 12 rooms if I recall. The reception, restaurant and dive center are central located. The beach and dive boat is roughly 150 meters away. They have a good size pool for relaxing with chairs and is deep enough to dive into. If you want to learn to dive, they have this covered. The staff from reception, housekeeping. restaurant and dive center are all super friendly and interact with the guest. They can arrange tours, motorbike rentals and probably anything else you like to do. If I was to return to this area for diving, which was my main solo trip. I would not waste my time looking anywhere else, since I found my little piece of paradise.
We’ve been visiting Mike’s for over a decade, and it never disappoints. Whether as guests, divers, or simply stopping in for a meal, Mike’s offers a cozy, personalized experience at truly affordable rates. Mike himself is a wonderful host—full of character and charm—and his team is consistently friendly and accommodating. The bar is well stocked, and when fresh fish is available, the Fish and Chips are easily the best on Negros. For anyone seeking a boutique-style experience with genuine hospitality, Mike’s comes highly recommended.
The Filipino staffs are just okay, only the white manager was a kind of arrogant. We just asked if we can roam around to have short film for our prenup and we would like to pay if necessary, but I don't like his response I felt like his arrogant to us. Probably if he was not, that would be one of our destinations for the honeymoon.
Amazing stay and diving at this amazing resort….friendly and professional staff and knowledgeable dive guide Ace made our diving memorable…thanks to everyone who made our stay great including the wonderful cooks who made yummy food…thanks Kate we will be back
My girlfriend and I stayed for one week at Mike's, and we highly recommend this resort to anyone visiting Dauin, especially divers. The location is perfect: right on the beach, yet not too isolated, with nice restaurants nearby (but the Mexican food at the resort itself is already amazing!). The diving here was fantastic. My girlfriend completed her AOW course with instructor Gabby, who is extremely professional and passionate about diving. He’s a calm, patient instructor with clear briefings so the student knows exactly what is expected. We also joined dives with Raul and Ace who are both excellent guides who can spot all the incredible critters Dauin is famous for. They are able to find the tiniest creatures which makes this a paradise for macro photographers. Also a big thank you to all the staff at Mike's who made our week extra comfortable. Their service was beyond exceptional.
I had a great time at Mike’s. The dive resort managers, Kate and James, were super helpful and very knowledgeable not only about diving but the surrounding areas for dry days. The resort was relaxing with time spent in the pool or on the beach. Rooms clean and tidy and all I expected. But as a diver of around 600 dives my focus was on the diving. Kate and James set me up with a fantastic local dive guide Raul, who was with my every dive of my week stay. He adapted to my wishes daily and did his best to find the neat and rare critters i wanted to find. He was patient when I took photographs always staying in the near vicinity looking for other macro subjects. He checked in after the dives and the end of the day to see if everything was okay (as did Kate and James). When I was paired up with another diver he checked in with both of us to make sure we were both happy. I would stay at Mike’s again in the future and recommend it to those wanting a nice place with great guides around Dauin.
Mike’s resort is a typical diving resort, like you find in the best places in the world for diving. Basically a 3* beach resort with a pool, bar and restaurant and everyone staying comes for the underwater world. The lack of luxury is more than compensated by the friendliest and knowledgeable staff: both the local people from Negros and Apo Island and the internationals from the US and UK. Our girls got their PADI OW certification here and are now confident divers, doing several more dives in the Philippines. Rooms are comfortable and have a good shower and air conditioning. And a TV, but we never used it. It’s a quiet place on the beach, most guests were in their room at 10PM, when we were there. Sometimes the dogs bark in the night (there are dogs everywhere in the Philippines, and are taken care of by the community) The diving is great, both along the shore as around Apo Island (unique experience!). A lot of fish and other uderwater life. Turtles can easily be spotted snorkeling directly of the beach in one of the open water sanctuaries close by the resort. The dive guides are very experienced, with probably 1,000+ scuba dives each. And most of them started young as free divers and know all the good spots around. Kitchen is great too, with the nicest local staff. Next to that you will find a couple of good places for people who like healthy vegan food. We loved the one at the yoga studio at the central square. Will definitely recommend going to Mike’s resort and probably come back there if we get the chance.
Had the most amazing stay from the warm welcome from the moment I got to the resort. Everything was great and everyone who works at Mikes and the boat crew, dive masters/guides absolutely brilliant. I loved it that much i extended my stay twice!! The diving was amazing and Apo Island was great 😊 I was a solo traveler and 100% would recommend to everyone. Plenty of places to go and explore, food was great especially the burritos. Thanks again for an amazing stay 🫶🏼
Super friendly staff and people, you can really see that the people working here enjoy there job too the fullest. The beds were comfortable enough and somehow there was wifi everywhere on the property 🥺. I really enjoyed my time here and will deffo come again!!
I just had one of the most pleasant experience at Mike’s Dauin Diving Resort, and I feel like I've found a second family. My husband and daughter (Leonardo and Beatrice) had been at Mike’s last year, had a wonderful time, so I joined them this year (also to complete my PADI Advanced Open Water certification). Mike’s (the owner) distinctive leadership is brilliant, with a clear passion for creating a unique and personalized experience for each guest. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, the managers, Kate and James, and Mike who truly made us feel like part of the community and very well looked after. What struck me most about this resort when first walking in is the beautiful setting, which blends seamlessly into the natural surroundings. The buildings are designed with respect for the local landscape, using natural materials (like the naturally curved bamboo culms used for the balcony’s balustrades), and incorporating traditional styles in a way that feels authentic and sustainable. This includes a beautiful garden with lovely decorative elements, a nice pool with a running waterfall that provides a sense of joy, relax and harmony. The rooms are spacious, simple and immaculate, as well as the bathrooms and showers. Drinking water fountains (with both hot and cold water) are cleverly placed inside the resort for guests’ use. It's clear that Mike has a deep appreciation for the environment and the local culture, and this shines through in every aspect of the resort. The resort is also a certified PADI Eco Centers, which means that staff members are trained and proud to reduce the environmental footprint of their operations, demonstrating an exemplary level of environmental best practice. But what really sets this resort apart is the sense of community that pervades every aspect of life here. From the open communal lounge near the pool, to the PADI courses and group dives, everything contributes to foster a sense of camaraderie and shared experience that's hard to find elsewhere, especially in larger, more commercial facilities. The resort staff are friendly, and always willing to go the extra mile to accommodate guests’ needs. The marine crews, captain, instructors and guides are extremely knowledgeable and trained to work as a perfect team to ensure that every diver has a safe and unforgettable experience onboard Mike’s traditional ‘Banca’ boat (Miley Kate 2). As a diver, I was impressed by the incredible marine life and the expertise of my instructor and other dive guides, who showed me hidden gems (like many colorful tiny nudibranchs, small frogfish, ghost pipefish, stonefish, octopuses, flamboyant cuttlefish, etc) and secret spots (eg an underwater thermal spring) that I never would have discovered on my own. And when I wasn't in the water, I loved relaxing in the veranda outside our comfortable room with a good book, lounging by the pool with a freshly squeezed fruit drink, or chatting with guests both from the Philippines and different countries. Overall, I would highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a relaxed vacation and a unique diving experience. The combination of natural beauty, warm and welcoming community, and exceptional management and ownership makes it a truly special place that I will always treasure and recommend to others. Finally, a special thank to Ace, my dive instructor (who named me “Mama-Lisa”, and I love it!) for being such a cool and patient teacher. Together with Gaby and Roul they make great guides/instructors (I named them The Three Musketeers). Victor, the Captain of Miley Kate 2, who skillfully (and cheerfully) took us to Apo island through pretty rough seas; Jerry and Jonel, the speedboat (Tatiana 2) operators. Bryan, a boat crew and a true gentleman putting divers’ wellbeing (especially of the not so young like me) before his own needs; together with Edgar (relief captain), part of an amazing boat crew team. James and Kate, who took care of Beatrice’s rescue training with competence, support and constant praise for every new achievement. Thank you to Peter, the night guardian and my “good morning” man. Leah, Mary Joy, Nathan and Jessa who patiently served us at the bar. Julia, Alma, William and Nenita, always busy in the kitchen especially in peak hours for hungry divers! Mark, Ignacio, Jeffery, Maxrilyn, Jennifer and Tata for keeping the outdoor and indoor environments always clean and tidy. Joya and Jonalyn, efficient assistant manager and secretary. Thank you, great job everyone! Last but not least, we are grateful to Mike for sharing his personal stories, including how he built this beautiful place, one piece at the time. “Looking forward to come back” was the most common phrase I heard from guests departing the resort and, indeed, my own thought when I left…
Princess treatment from start to end! 👑 Everything from the warm welcome and always joyful staff to the witty diving instructors - the people in this place are indeed heartwarming, considerate and a upmost delight to be around! And the place itself - Waow! They take such good care of the garden, the pool area and the rooms. The dives are amazing too! Mantas, turtles, cool colourful creatures and magnificent reefs. The instructors and crew take care of everything, and they always communicate✨ We what to thank all the people in this place for giving us the best experience possible and a relaxing holiday! 🫶🏼 For everyone considering to go - GO!
It’s a great place to stay for divers, particularly older divers. They take care of all your equipment, the boat comes back to the resort between dives, and the ladder from the boat is easy to climb. Restaurant is solid but be warned that food takes time. We tried to get around this by ordering, going back to our room for 30 minutes, then coming out. No bueno. We still waited. We also tried to what’s app an order while we were out - no one answered. You wouldn’t think this is a big deal but they run a timely dive boat operation and will check and check to make sure you are ready. I’d suggested more communication with the kitchen. If they are running behind the boat should run late. Rooms are solid. Air conditioning, hot water, all the stuff you want. The mattress is pretty thin and my butt would get uncomfortable. I solved this by putting my own travel pillow on my butt. They also don’t break with Philippine dive resort tradition of providing only one pillow. It’s a shame as this could be a stand out feature. Pool is perfectly good for a quick dip - don’t expect a hot tub or water slides. Staff are super friendly. Nothing is too much trouble if you ask. Overall very solid.
The property and gardens are beautiful - for those of us not fond of pets while eating - something the owners can think about with the dogs around the property …. Staff was phenomenal and picturesque property ! The Filipino aesthetics were on point and food pricing was excellent !
The staff where amazing in everyway. The location was fabulous. Had a great time with my finance will return from the usa in November will come back 100%
Lovely resort, amazing dive and super nice people! We spent a week at mike's beach resort and completed our rescue diver course with them. The diving was amazing, the guides and the whole staff was super helpful and friendly. There's truly nothing to complain about :) We would definitely come back another time! Thanks a lot for everything:)
From James and Kate (management) to Leah, Nathan, and Jessa (restaurant staff) to Gabby (dive instructor) and Raul (dive guide), their focus is always on customer needs. Divers would be hard pressed to find a better boat crew anywhere. We were welcomed as friends and given hugs and best wishes on our departure. We will be back to visit our new friends.
Very nice stay here the staff are all great from the cleaners to the managers. The diving is really easy 20m from the hotel and all sites accesible in 10 mins on the boat, most wothin a few minutes, with sich a variety of marine life. The owner was there when we was there and seemed a decent guy. The managers were awesome, both jamie and kate are very helpful with lots of knowledge. A special mention to my dive guide gabby who was brilliant along with the boat crew, all you meed to do is dive and eat everything else is done for you. Definatly would recommend and definatly will come back.
We stayed for 8 lovely days hosted by Mike, James, Kate , dive crew & staff. Great hospitality & diving, not a sterile high end resort nor a bare bones beach buret; but a well run place with good amenities in a quiet location & plenty walkable nearby
Beautiful resort. The staff is very nice and helpfull. The dive shop is very proffesional. The dive guides know very good the dive locations, and the do a lot of effort to show you the good things to see while diving, and they also try to show you what you are interested in. The dive sites in front of the resort are very good voor muck diving, and Apo island was also very good for diving. Food in the restaurant was very good.
I travelled solo to Mike's Dauin Beach Resort for nine days in May for diving and underwater photography. This is a quaint, quiet and very accommodating budget-friendly venue right on the water. Accommodations - The room was moderate size with a desk and armoire. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. It includes a TV with multiple channels. Restaurant - The menu is diverse, including Filipino and Mexican food. The staff was very accommodating and will even cook things not on the menu. Dive Service - Dauin is a world class venue for macro photography. I couldn't believe how many critters I kept seeing on each dive. The guides like Ace and Gabi are as good as you can ask for in finding animals and watching out for your safety. Apo Island is nearby and is a nice one day option. There was healthy coral as well as muck diving. Misc - This is a place also for non-divers. There is a pool, kayaks and local great restaurants nearby. I had a pizza that was definitely better than my home places. A guide can be arranged also for guided tours into the jungle for spotting birds, etc. May is the low season so it wasn't crowded and the weather was excellent. Mike and the managers James and Kate went out of the way to make my stay special, as did all of the staff who always greeted you with smiles. Consider this before you book your next stay anywhere in the Philippines or Indonesia.
We loved our stay at Mike's. From our warm welcome to the ever friendly and obliging staff to the diving our stay was everything we expected. All the staff are wonderful and we appreciated everything you did for us. You are too numerous to mention by name but we were so happy to get to know you all. Thank you all so much for your excellent attention, care and kindness. The diving was amazing and we would not have seen many of the creatures we did if it wasn't for eagle-eyed Raul and Ace, our marvellous dive guides. We thoroughly enjoyed the dives. We saw so many creatures we had never seen before. We felt safe and well looked after. In addition, James and Kate were very amenable in arranging the type of dives we wanted to do. The meals were delicious- I know I was predictable with ordering a vegetarian burrito every night but they were superb. Being vegetarian there are a lot of options on the menu and other dishes can be modified to suit. This review would not be complete without mentioning Lilo and Stitch, our constant doggy companions. We left part of our hearts with you two. We hope that we will see you all again one day-this time with partners in tow !
My fiancee Olie and I spend 5 wonderful days and nights at Mike's. I have been to Dauin twice before; it was Olie's first trip. My past trips were at a higher priced and very well known dive resort. Was not sure what to expect at a more mid-market resort but thought it would be worth a try. Wow, it really exceeded expectations. We had transport booked from the airport in Dumaguete (DGT) to the resort; they were there awaiting us and were very professional. Resort managers James and Kate met us on arrival, welcomed us and gave us a nice introduction and tour. We stayed in Room 1, a superior room on the ground level, closest room to the dive shop, restaurant, pool and ocean. The room was lovely, AC was cold, shower was hot, WiFi was strong, fast and stable. Olie rented her dive gear, it was all in good shape and worked well. Restaurant fare tended to be basic, tasty and with generous portions. The dive operation is excellent. You will dive from a traditional Filipino bangka, a very stable double outrigger boat. They are slow but it doesn't matter. With the exception of Apo Island, all the dive sites are within less than 15 minutes boat ride from Mike's. Tank fills were consistently 2800-3000 PSI. We had an exceptionally good dive guide (Ace); ask for him when you arrive. He finds a lot of little critters on every dive. Saw more ornate ghost pipefish on these dives that I ever have in the past. Will we return to Mike's ? ABSOLUTELY ! They exceeded our expectations, and we are very grateful for the wonderful warm and personable care they extended to us. Definitely recommend that you give them a try. The earn the glowing ratings that you read on TA. We are honored to add ours.
Thoroughly enjoyed my week at Mike's. The managers, James and Kate, gave my dive buddy and me a warm welcome and assigned a dive master that was knowledgeable about the area and very personable. Dauin is known for its macro diving and it did not disappoint. The rooms at Mike's were spacious and clean. I hope to return to Mike's for another stay.
My group and I had the honour to spend around 2 weeks at Mike's Dauin Beach Resort. There was nothing to blame about or to be criticised. 😎🤗👍 The resort is wonderful location, not overloaded. With direct access to Beach and Sea. For people who don't like salt water... there's also a nice pool! 😉 Rooms are well equipped, clean and properly maintained. Beautiful, friendly management and staff, good food, good service, brilliant diving. We recommend this place with 5* and 100%. For sure we will return! Thx to all for the brilliant time we could spend there! 🙏❤️
One of the best dive trips I have ever had. The staff were very friendly. Ace did an amazing job as our dive master, he has eyes like an hawk and really knows the dive sites well. The help on the boat did an outstanding job to make the dives effortlessly. Everything from putting your fins on before and after the dive to taking your BCD before you got back on the boat nice job Victor. The meals were top notch, hats off to the cooks. The daily massage was off the hook. Thank you Wendy you were fabulous. I have already booked again for next year.
My partner and I had our greatest holiday yet at Mike’s. A real adventure. We booked to stay and do our open water scuba accreditation. Our instructor for this, Gabi, was so excellent that we also booked our advanced course as well. The diving was excellent. We explored the Dauin Marine Sanctuary and Apo Island. The reefs were stunning. A great place to learn to dive. Gabi also suggested a night dive where we spotted insane marine life included some sleeping turtles. Apo Island is a must see for any diver no matter experience level and the team at Mike’s makes everything effortless. All of the employees at Mikes were very personable and welcoming. We truly felt at home. Apart from diving, the team at mikes were able to suggest and assist with other activities. We rented scooters for two days where we explored Dumaguete, Valencia, Pulangbato Falls, and the Red Rock Hot Springs. It was incredible! The room was immaculate. We had a view of the ocean and felt very relaxed. The food is delicious and made fresh. We will definitely be coming back!
A little gem in Dauin! A smaller dive resort with a super peaceful feel even at full capacity. Beautiful grounds with swimming pool and access to the beach. The dive team is amazing and so knowledgeable. You always dive in a small group and the guides are constantly finding amazing critters! We also loved the bar and kitchen and found the food and drinks excellent. Special thanks to our dive guides Kevin and Raoul, you were both amazing!! Apart from the amazing muck diving, the trips to Apo island were also amazing and the coral is breathtaking. The staff is so kind and attentive, thanks to Nathan who didn’t manage to say goodbye to on our last day, you are the best! Highly highly recommended staying here to all scuba diving enthusiasts.
We spent another 10 days at Mike’s Dauin dive resort, a place we cherished the last time we were here seven years before. We were lucky to be here during the transition from veteran managers Corri and Jonathan to the new ones Kate and James. Kate and James bring a lot of experience managing other resorts in Indonesia. All of them have a way to make you feel like a part of a big family right from the arrival up to the last minute spent on the premises. Joy and Jonalyn from the management office are always happy to assist with any needs you have. The chefs at the kitchen with Ronald, Jula, Alma, Nenita and William make an effort for all the meals to be perfect. The menu is a mix of western, Mexican and local recipes; you will always find something tasty to consume. Also look out for the daily specials. Leah, Jessa, Mary Joy and Nathan are the bar staff who are always smiling and are going the extra mile to set you up with the most sophisticated drinks you can dream of. The maintenance of the grounds is outstanding, the attention to detail in designing the garden will make you feel like living in a mini botanical garden! Mark, Ignacio and Jeffrey from the maintenance team are always on top of things. Marilyn, Tata and Jennifer will keep your room clean and always stocked with all what’s needed. And there is Peter! Peter is the security guard keeping us safe every night and handing us the first coffee of the day whe we come back from our morning walk. An amazing guy, always smiling, always positive! At the dive shop I present to you the dive guides. This time we dove with Raul and Ace, last time we also dove with Gabi! There were times we could not keep up shooting the amount of beings they were pointing out! All of them will find anything in the muck you can think of. Sometimes you see what it is just when you download the pictures to a bigger screen. We had a lot of fun and safety is top of the list during the diving trips. The trip to Apo island was fun enjoyable and as always a treat with the abundance of marine life. Victor the skipper an Jonel the speed boat guru as well as the boat crew and “life handrail holders” Edgar, Brian and Jerry will take good care of the guests, no matter if on the boat or at the dive shop! All in one everything works seamlessly to make one of your most enjoyable dive experiences ever! I hope I did not let anyone out of my review! Thank you all! The fact that I wanted to mention all people from the resort attests to the quality of service you get there. You feel like you become part of a bigger family, a family of people who know that the best place to stay in Dauin is Mike’s Dive Resort!
Entering this beautiful boutique style tropical paradise is enough to say that if nothing else goes right - this is already enough! But years of acquired knowledge of what divers need and want makes the experience at Mikes Dauin exceptional beyond beautiful. It’s size is for the diver looking for intimacy and personal attention. The intimacy includes accommodating special dive requests and menu amendments with a courteous smile. The dive facilities were butter smooth and efficiently set up from the equipment room to a large or small boat back to the rinse tanks all just a few steps from the ocean. The layout of the resort and pool gives a sense of spaciousness in a garden of tropical trees and plants. Lastly, the staff were patient, understanding and knowledgeable. I found a dive destination that is about harmony in elegant simplicity. I will be back!!
We stayed at Mike’s in February 2025 and had tons of fun. The rooms were really nice and clean. The water pressure in the shower was good, the beds were comfy, and the room was spacious. They also provided sustainable, locally-made, biodegradable shampoo and soap which was a lovely bonus. The hotel restaurant serves great food and the staff are all so lovely. There are also a ton of walkable restaurants that serve craft beer, poke bowls, sandwiches, etc. if you want to venture outside of the resort. We did a total of 8 dives over 3 days, and diving with the team at Mike’s was just an absolute pleasure. Our dive master was very knowledgeable and showed us all kinds of sea creatures—large to minuscule. We’re definitely staying at Mike’s again if we’re ever back in Dauin! Would give them more stars if we could!
This place is nothing short of amazing. We loved that it was a small scale resort and you really felt like part of the family here. Everything is wonderful - the staff, the dive gear, the dive staff, the diving, the resort set-up, the pool… I could go on. The dive staff are fantastic and the boat is spacious to don and doff your gear. And oh my lord - the food and cocktails! Yum! They were also able to book a local nanny for us (which is something I have struggled to find in the Philippines!) and this then means you can dive a lot more. Do yourself a favour and stay here if you are coming to Dauin.
This is a cozy little resort. Located directly on the beach in Dauin. Perfect for Divers. No luxury. But the rooms are quiet and clean with AC. The staff is very attentive and helpful. The restaurant is small with limited choice, but the food quality is very good. They have every day a special dish of the day. The dive shop of the resort has good, well maintained equipment. They run two dive boats (a small speed boat for small groups and a big wooden traditional Philippine vessel - both are in very good condition) and do regular trips to Apo Island (which is a 45 minutes boat ride per direction). But also the locale dives are good choices. The dive masters know the sites and the marine life perfectly well. I have done 300+ dives all over the world. But they were able to show me something new on almost ever dive. Remarkable. The whole boat crew is very supportive and really takes care of their diving customers. Mike has put together a great team, which makes you feel at home from the very first minute. I enjoyed every moment of my stay and will come back for sure!
Perfect low key resort for divers. The house staff are wonderful and the dive guides and boat crew expert and very helpful. The dive boat is a big traditional wooden outrigger, funky and surprisingly seaworthy. It was very windy while I was here, but we made it to Apo Is. for 3 dives, all good. Exciting trip home, slamming into the weather. Highlights of the inshore muck diving include frogfish and flamboyant cuttlefish.
I'll try to refrain from gushing, but Mike's is one of the best resorts we have ever stayed at. Their attention to those little details that take an experience from good to excellent shows in everything they do, from the layout of the resort, to the rooms, to the dive boats. And, most of all, the staff! It was a pleasure interacting with them, whether ordering a meal, greeting them in the morning, or trusting our safety to them when diving. Gabby, our dive master, found the most amazing & unique macro life for us to see & the boat crew was very attentive & accommodating. Their secret? Excellent management & owner presence. Thanks everyone for an awesome time!
The diving was awesome ... something new every dive. Guides (Ace) were very skilled and spotted all the things we wanted to see on our muck diving treasure hunts. Resort staff and manager were super friendly and sorted a couple of our trips outside the property. Trip to Oslob went well with total round trip 6am to 1pm and no wait in any queue to see those wonderful whale sharks. Another day trip to the Baslay hotsprings we did by scooter, what fun! Beautiful Tokamak restaurant was a great place to eat. Overall, no complaints with Mike's, peaceful and diving at the pace that suits you.
The staff was very attentive and always smiling and very courteous. Delicious menu
Quite
Fantastic stay here -amazing diving and staff..brilliant diving guides - and weird critters eveywhere! Our only issue was the food..but we ended up walking to other nearby restaurants which was also great Thank you for a lovely time
The resort was not as big as expected. The wait for restaurant food was too long, but it tasted great. The beach was not as good for snorkeling.
Excellent value, and staff a great team including expert dive instruction fantastic location, beautiful surrounds.
Very quiet place to get away and relax. Also staff and service was great.
Room too small for the price and breakfast not included. Bed mattress too think. Bed too narrow. Air condition old. No safe box in room. Internet wifi only works close to the bar area. They have the potential but they have to invest in the business. Not comparable with properties beneath.
Great staff, VERY comfortable beds, clean and great scuba diving
Mike's really grew on us over the course of a 5-day 6-night stay. The friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff is infectious, this attitude affects all the guests; after a few days of hanging out, diving, eating with the other guests, you find everyone's happy, everyone's a friend. The resort has three parts: the hotel, the restaurant, and the dive operation. The hotel is nice but not deluxe, the room was very clean, spacious, and comfortable. The bed was so-so but not out of line for this price point, as were the provided amenities. Housekeeping was great, any requests were immediately looked after. The best review goes to the dive shop, headed by accommodating and friendly Nic. After deciding not to do our planned Advanced Open Water course, Nic set us up with two day trips diving at Apo Island which is a must-do for any diver. Novice divers, we were paired with divemaster Romel. Although not taking specific lessons from him, he was a most patient and helpful teacher, especially for my wife who felt very comfortable and safe diving with him. He also had amazing eyes, able spot so many interesting things. I kept trying to find something before he saw it but generally to no avail. I think the lowest review goes to the restaurant. The food we tried was just OK, but worse was the slow service. Example - breakfast ordered the night before for 7:00, we got coffee at 7:20, breakfast, just fresh fruit at 7:30, no one else in the restaurant. Still, really enjoyed our stay!
Great resort but not so vegan friendly if you are vegan there are only 2 meals on the menu and owner not sympathetic to vegan choices. This was our second visit
Very charming resort and they do a great job of helping you with learning to dive or diving trips. We did a discover diving trip which was a lot of fun, what a great experience! Also did a snorkeling trip to Apo Island which was fun. The food is quite good and reasonable. The bedrooms are spacious with large bathrooms and I loved the variety of trees and greenery on the property. The staff were very friendly and the service was very good. I would definitely go back again.
staff was amazing, the water was amazing, pure relaxation with an amazing staff
This was the second stay at Mike's Dauin Beach Resort for my fiancee and me. We stay her last year and was VERY IMPRESSED. So we decide to book here again this year. Once again, we were not disappointed. We had s wonderful stay. The staff were very nice and very accommodating to our needs. The onsite restaurant makes delicious food that is reasonably priced. The rooms & grounds are clean, comfortable and well maintained. There was some renovations going on this year, but the construction was not too intrusive on our stay. Once Again, we had a GREAT STAY and would happily recommend it to anyone who is looking for a wonderful place to stay and unwind while In the Dumaguete area.
The resort is a small, nice and comfortable feeling place. The accommodations are clean and equally simple. It is a fair price for what you get, nothing more and nothing less. The food is pretty good with a flair for the Mexican cuisine. The staff is nice and definitely makes an effort to ensure satisfaction. I am not really sure I would go back but that is not really the fault of the resort, it is just not my cup of tea kind of place and I am not a diver either. Have been wanting to try it for a while due to the high marks I have seen it get in reviews. I am glad I did and I am glad it was only for a short stay. Met my needs at the time. Thank You.
We received a quaint and warm welcome from the friendly staff whom are always willing to lend a helping hand. The only confusion was the side trip organized by the hotel. We were not clearly informed on what to expect and there were “surprises” along the way. We went with the flow and enjoyed ourselves nonetheless. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay which was comfortable and clean with great food choices on-site and taste.
My GF & I booked a two night stay at Mike's Dauin Beach Resort. We had a WoWonderful Time. Niether my GF or I are divers & Mike's does cater more toward divers. Dispite this, they made us feel Welcomed & right at home throughout our stay. We actually extended our stay to five nights, due to an unexpected typhoon. The manager was very accommodating to our needs. During our stay we ate at their onsite restaurant several times. ALL of the food was EXCELLENT & reasonably priced. In short, I would highly recommend Mike's Dauin Beach Resort to anyone visiting the Dumaguete/ Dauin area.
The entire staff were excellent, very polite & courteous. The room was very spacious & extremely clean A very clean resort Good choice of food items on the menu The quality of food was good. Myself & my family will not hesitate to go back & stay with the resort. Many Thanks to all the staff who made our stay at the resort very comfortable & happy.
I read all reviews and are all legit. As a manager myself I can truly say that the hotel had earned my highest vote. The room is clean and bathroom equipped with a hair dryer (a first in a provincial hotel) and was so happy. The supplies was ample for 3 days stay (fluffy towels, shampoo, hair conditioner and soap). The staff was so attentive and friendly. They loved their jobs and are constantly cleaning and serving with a smile. All our meals were served hot and very important for Americans. Food are of good portions and sumptuous. We met several guests who has stayed in this hotel numerous times. This hotel is s gem.
