The Talbot Inn

I arrived at about 7pm, very tired after a long walk on the Thames Path. The staff were fantastic - they gave me a warm welcome and brought me a pot of tea with chocolates to revive me. The en-suite bedroom was very comfortable and well-appointed, the dinner and breakfast were excellent and the service was warm and friendly.

Clean comfortable room. We had an excellent evening meal and a great breakfast. The staff were polite and helpful. We had access to a bus stop right outside the Inn which was a 15min ride into Oxford.

Slight traffic noise from being on the main road.

Staff were friendly and happy to help with any request. Room was spacious and clean. Meals were excellent.

The property and our room was right at the fence of a helium factory and there were very large fans on continuously, but not much they could do.

From the moment you walk in you are greeted by friendly staff. The room was amazing. The facilities fresh, clean and tidy. The food and service was great.

Would have liked breakfast to be on a little later in the week. But was worth getting up for !

We found every member of staff really friendly and very helpful. We had dinner after checking in. My cod and chips was very good, but my wife was slightly disappointed that the salmon had all gone and the lemon chicken she had instead was slightly dry. The Eton Mess, however, was excellent. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The shower in the bathroom was excellent. We both really enjoyed a beautiful breakfast after a good night’s sleep.

I can’t really think of anything that I would have expected to see at the price point that hadn’t been provided.

Comfortable rooms, with pretty much all you need. We liked the decor and it felt relaxing. Good pub downstairs with excellent food and the breakfast was great! Good location for walks right from the door.

Stay was great. Lucy was accommodating in allowing me to check in after hours by putting the key in the box. One of the owners was still there when I arrived anyway, but was good to have the ability to check in later. Breakfast was great, good selection and freshly cooked. Room was very comfortable and clean.

The only issue was the wifi was weak and kept dropping out in my room. I was able to go to the main pub for a call where the interview was fine, but not great if you need to work from your room.

The room is comfortable. Staffs are extremely helpful. We had to leave early morning. They prepared breakfast boxes for 7 of us. Thank you, Lucy and the chef.

Close to a busy road but not a problem if you shut the bedroom windows at night.

It was well located for the plans we had that weekend.

It was on a very busy road and there was noise disturbance from the factory behind our room.

We had a very good room with excellent facilities, a comfortable bed, a good shower and good wifi. Our breakfasts were good and the staff were always helpful. The surprise bonus for us was the EV charger and a good bus service into the centre of Oxford.

No fault of the hotel but the road is very noisy. A smooth road surface would help enormously.

Property was nice and great staff. The roomy was very nice and decent size.

Too hot, the fan and window did not help with the heat in the room nor the pub.

Absolutely wonderful staff who could not have been more helpful and accommodating. They made our stay. Breakfast was very good, our room comfortable and lovely villages of the Cotswolds easily accessible.

Quite pricey, but that's probably true of the whole area. WiFi reception in our room was very poor.

The room was expensive for what you got, the plug in the bathroom sink was broken off the bathroom door didn’t shut let alone lock, the bathroom radiator was full of dust and cobwebs. The fan provided was very noisy so we had to switch it off and be hot. Could have done with a little fridge as so hot couldn’t have fresh milk only UHT cartons

Such a well kept inn! Lovely room that was spotlessly clean. Lucy was extremely helpful, especially when we were trying yo connect yo the car charger. The food, arrived quickly and was very tasty. Good range of choice for both evening mea and breakfast.

10/10 isn’t enough. We absolutely loved our 2 night stay. The pub itself is an utterly gorgeous period property offering everything you could expect. We had a meal here on the first night & it was delicious. Our room was bright, clean and also had everything we needed with a stunning breakfast each morning. The whole ambiance was relaxed and the staff definitely set it apart from the rest. I want to go back now!!

There was nothing to dislike. A little road noise but the premises is on a main road so to be expected. We loved everything!

Location is good, we were greeted by friendly staff. The room was spacious, clean with good facilities. We had an evening meal which was very well produced and above expectations. The breakfast was also excellent.

All good for us

The room, though small, was well appointed and comfortable. All the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. The food was really good and obviously prepared from fresh. The location was just what we needed for walking the Thames Path nearby.

There could a couple more points in the room although this wasn't a big problem

Exceptional staff and great food

Me and my sister-in-law couldn’t have wished for a better overnight stay. Conveniently located approx 10 min drive from Blenheim palace, this little gem is run by Stuart and his team. Sophia welcomed us when we arrived, checked us in and showed us to our room, a twin as requested. Lovely and spacious, immaculately clean. Tea, coffee, biscuits and chocolates available. Dinner was very tasty, reasonably priced and of a very high standard. Stuart, joined by Sophia and Freddie looked after us with a calm and accommodating manner for dinner and Melody served us breakfast. Pastries, fresh fruit juice, pots with yoghurt and granola and a variety of fresh fruit together with an assortment of cereals were available together with a full English breakfast (vegetarian option also available), smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on brioche toast or a breakfast bap. Altogether a fabulous place to stay, we will definitely be back!

Can’t mention a single thing, all was fantastic!

Totally clean, comfortable, cosy, fabulous food, really well located, but its best feature was the staff, who were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. A real gem.

Had to ask for heating to be boosted….thought cost a bit too high based on other accommodation booked whilst walking the Thames Path.

It was perfect for what we wanted, staff exceptional good. Room was extremely well looked after and spacious. I can’t remember a place where you could turn your central heating on in your room, we were very cosy. Great

It was on a main Road, so for some of our party they heard traffic noise.

Good sized room, and bathroom. Very clean. Parking. Great breakfast. Nice pub adjoining. Used it to go into Oxford and to Woodstock (Blenheim Palace).

Although the pub is adjacent to nice countryside, it's a little isolated.

Loved the rooms. Even though the pub is on a main road, the rooms are pin drop quiet. Lovely comfortable bed and we slept very well. The food was wonderful but not cheap. Couldn't fault the staff - they were super warm and friendly.

It was a bit pricey. Both the accommodation and the food. Given the price, perhaps the rooms could offer more than nescafe sachets.

The Talbot inn was in a great location for our visit to Oxford and Blenheim place , The room and bed was very clean and comfortable.

Friendly welcome, a beautiful old building, comfortable rooms and very good menu for dinner and breakfast. Parking on site was handy too, with an EV charger available.

A beautiful building in a good location for visiting Oxford. Our room was excellent, tastefully decorated with a fabulous bathroom. Lovely toiletries and good sized towels and super soft bed linen. The staff were warm, welcoming and helpful giving great advice about what to do in the area. Our room was a little chilly on arrival with it being such a cold day and they put the heating on boost for us. We only had breakfast which lived up to all the reviews. We had booked in advance to eat out in Oxford but from what we saw and the delicious smells had we had a longer stay we would have definitely eaten there as well.

We booked a superior double room and the bed was two beds pushed together which isn’t uncommon however where the beds met there was a distinct ridge which was uncomfortable after a while. A thick mattress topper would have made this more comfortable.

Warm welcome, great place,clean and great facilities. Our room was large,clean and warm. Facilities comfortable bed, large bathroom with plenty of hot water. Kettle,tea,coffee etc bathroom soaps,etc and shower cap. Room was in great decorative condition well maintained. Credit to all would stay again and recommend
