Beautiful location - secluded and quiet. It felt very authentic. The cottage was beautiful
When we stayed none of the facilities were open which was disappointing
Very dissapointing stay here on Monday August 3rd. It was my partner and I 'S anniversary and we were both really looking forward to staying here and enjoying the property. I received a phone call at 1pm that day (check in at 4pm) to be told THE ENTIRE HOTEL WOULD BE CLOSED and because we were staying in a cottage we would need codes to let ourselves in and out because there would be NO STAFF. Myself and my partner were looking forward to using all of the hotel amenities and would not of booked had we known that the entire property would be empty. It really put a negative spin on our anniversary and truthfully being on large grounds that are quite remote, no staff, closed and nobody around is quite creepy. I have emailed the property about this and have been ignored
Staying at a property that was closed for the evening with no staff
Full of character and charm, around every corner a delight for the senses. Our room in one of the guest cottages was big & spacious , comfortable bed , high ceilings & marble fireplace. The room had a Jane Austen elegance. The bathroom had both a shower & claw-foot bath tub. Gorgeous smelling bath & shower products from their spa. With views out of the sash windows of a beautiful courtyard garden blooming with climbing roses, clematis & hydrangeas greeting you at eye level. Winding paths led to the relaxing thermal village shaded by trees offering natural beauty & privacy. The Shackleton Mill restaurant overlooked the mill waterfall with a high cathedral ceiling feels stylish and inviting. Good food & breakfast was delicious. And an excellent on site coffee shop. All the staff were welcoming engaging & friendly.
A minor thing - no USB sockets in the room & TV was dated.
The restaurant was wonderful and location amazing. Gardens kept very well
Nothing
Beautiful property in a lovely area.
I would have loved to see the poly tunnels, orchards and fruit gardens being looked after. It was a shame to see them falling into dis-use. Although breakfast and dinner were superb, lunch was limited to sandwiches from the cafe. However, plenty of gastropubs nearby.
Peaceful, pretty
Reception staff little interest , no support finding room only map, our room name was not on the outside of house
Beautiful restored property not far from Dublin centre in perfect surroundings
Nothing to dislike
Beautiful cottage - the thermal village was a bit
Just a pity we didn’t have longer to stay there
The breakfast was absolutely gorgeous served in the orangery. The breakfast team were so pleasant. It was a “Big Birthday “ occasion and the two night stay at “Poet’s Corner “ with a wonderful meal at the restaurant one night made the weekend very special.. thank you.
We loved it all and there wasn’t anything that we didn’t like .
Very peaceful. Comfortable beds. Good quality food.
No hot water or heating in our cottage due to heating issue and as a result the cottage was cold at night and no shower facilities.
It’s a superb 5 star standard in the most idyllic old world setting. Probably the nicest location I have ever stayed at.
Nothing
Beautiful location.Loved how it was set up.Peaceful Staff friendly and helpful
I loved everything
Breakfast, dinner and the room were all fabulous. I have stayed before numerous times. Staff are especially wonderful.
One small downside was the lack of a flat sheet on the bed—when the room got too warm and I had to throw off the duvet, there was nothing lighter to cover myself with. Also no water in the baskets in the thermal.
Lovely staff, especially Lisa who was wonderful. Beautiful setting. Can’t wait to return.
Dinner was amazing with a fabulous view. Staff and service exceptional. Breakfast gorgeous with lots of options. Highly recommend a night or few here. Already bought vouchers as gifts !

Sehr sehr schön
Alles war perfekt
Beautiful old world setting . Buildings very tastefully restored .
The weather was wet and cold , which meant that moving from rooms to restaurants had to be done in the wet and cold on gravel which is not ideal for ladies in high heels and dresses . Trough badly lit areas .
I loved the whole stay. It exceeded my expectations and would definitely be back
The only thing that was slightly annoying was the sound proofing between rooms and the lobby area. It was very noisy when someone was coming in and out the main door and when people were in the room above us.
The staff are extremely helpful

Staff and ambience were amazing plus the breakfast was delicious
Food was exceptional

Excellent all round
The employees and the gorgeous surrounding are what makes this hotel great.
Food atmosphere staff all exceptional

Always love to stay at Cliff at Lyons as it is a very special place. The spa, the rooms, so luxurious and perfect.
Upon arrival back to our bridal suite, our luggage went missing. I was informed that I (the bride) should call all my guests to find out where my luggage was. I contacted someone at (my) wedding reception to ask. After 2 hrs no sign of the bag. I was the one who located my own bag the next morning. My spare pair of bridal shoes are still missing. Also, my brothers belongings all went missing in the changeover of the rooms- including a suit bag with an expensive shirt & tie. We still have got no email from the hotel to explain or apologize for losing my brothers stuff.
Such a beautiful place to stay, stunning accommodation, restaurant amazing and staff and food all excellent.
The location spectacular. The staff very helpful. (Especially Marcus at the front desk)!)
As a single traveler arriving on a rainy day : the room was cold.there was no option in the hotel to just sit by a fire and read a book with a cup of tea.
Accommodation setting
The sauna/wellness centre was not up to the rest of the facility
Absolutely everything, the hotel, staff, food and location
Nothing, excellent stay from beginning to end
Great location, main courtyard area is very pretty and picturesque
Room was very very disappointing, cold stone floor in the room in winter is very uncomfortable. The flimsy door to the room was terrible and gave a very cheap feel to the space. Two single beds to make up a king size bed does not a luxury hotel room make. Oldy worldy feel great but tired furniture scratched badly and leather peeling from the legs of the dressing table just screams in poor condition. Stains on the white curtains of the bedroom were horrendous. All in all so very disappointing and would not recommend
This accommodation is absolutely stunning. We loved our cottage and the fact that it was dog friendly. It was warm and comfortable, the grounds are beautiful and breakfast at The Orangery was excellent. We also had a very enjoyable evening meal and loved the festive decorations everywhere.
For the price and standard of the restaurant, the fact that no sides at all came with the mains was a little disappointing. We also feel that the place lacked a nice bar for after dinner. There is a space in the restaurant where we had a quick drink but it feels more like a waiting area for dinner, than somewhere to relax with friends for an hour or two. These are small things however and we really loved our stay overall and have plans to return.
Overall it’s a beautiful location with fantastic facilities
I was a little disappointed that we were not asked how our stay was when we went to check out. It was very transactional, they just swiped my card. I think these interactions are important as it can flag any issues that may have arisen. Other than that, it was great.
Location was beautiful.
Dinner was very expensive and not worth the money . Not really acceptable to have to wait 15 mins to be seated for breakfast .
It is the second time that I have stayed here, the previous time was Easter. Just an amazing place from the minute you walk through the gates. I felt I had spent a week away instead of 2 nights.
All perfect, amazing, attentive staff, gorgeous food, on the canal and relaxing hot tubs.
Nice location
Everything is Very tired. Staff are unhelpful. Sent an email for a treatment 2 days in advance with no response. Just overall a very lazy team in a tired hotel.
Lovely location, quiet and very comfortable
Nothing
The room was a 2 story, 2-bedroom cottage that we were upgraded to. The exterior was very rustic and cute, and the interior was well designed for what should have been comfort.
Quite frankly, we were upgraded to this cottage by the staff. We ended up in a 2-bedroom cottage for just my wife and me. This cottage had 3 toilets, 1 bathtub, and 1 shower. None of the toilets flushed properly. At one point, we had to locate a large pot in the kitchen, fill it with tap water, and dump it into the toilet to flush out the filth. Also, the fully equipped kitchen had appliances that were inoperable.
Stunning location and rooms. Staff were all excellent
Only downside was the thermal village opening hours. Check-in wasn’t until 4pm and thermal village closed at 6pm and not open until 10am with check out at 11 so not much opportunity to use.
Unique and special—- suites were beautiful, food excellent ( albeit a little pricey), staff courteous and professional A great find
It was our wedding Anniversary and they left bottle of Prosecco in our room very nice gesture and appreciated.
Nothing.
The grounds are very pretty, the pantry and the Orangerie were great.
Unfortunately our room was dirty, cobwebs on the wall and a lot of limescale in the bathroom. It was also very cold and thermostats were removed. We asked at reception twice before they helped to change the temperature.
Fabulous design , comfort and food .
Shared hot tub area , to busy by this area .
Lovely location with gorgeous grounds. Beautiful rooms. Breakfast in Orangery was fab.
Dining experience a little disappointing. Service not great. Could hear music from wedding next door during dinner on first night.
Everything was perfect 👍
Cadre exceptionnel, sublime cottage, belles chambres, tranquillité, verdure.
Restauration dîner pas à la hauteur du reste, correcte mais un peu prétentieuse pour le prix.
beautiful walks, nice food and comfortable room
The grounds where incredible, truly something special! The food was absolutely delicious also!
The room wasn’t clean, I felt like it hadn’t been cleaned at all from previous stay! The towels where dirty, dirty shower cap was found and very dusty! Disappointing for an expensive 4 star.
Wow! From the moment you drive in you’re transported into a tranquil setting. We stayed for one short night (wish we had more time). We had dinner at the mill and a glass of wine and the pub on the property. The hot tub/sauna area did close at 6pm so we didn’t get to enjoy them. Wish I would have known that. The staff as super friendly and our rooms were lovely. We stayed in the lily pond room, which felt new. Its was lovely! Would definitely come back if you are looking for a quite tranquil stay.
Everything
The stones are hard in high heels
It was like stepping into another world, everything oozed so much charm, elegance and comfort. The cottage was esquisite, the breakfast was delicious and the staff were lovely
Overall the property and setting are beautiful, incredible dinner and lovely bar and breakfast experience - really nice spaces to enjoy at different stages of stay. Staff very nice and helpful. Thermal spa a lovely oasis. Bikes available to borrow to explore the adjacent canal path. The room we got let down the entire experience, seems to be converted corridor with partition. Badly insulated with noise, poorly & minimally furnished-no really comfort with polished concrete floor and no rug. sound from other room&guests audible. Other members of group got lovely new build rooms with character which enhanced their experience. disappointing and unexpected for such a property to let down with the accommodation like that. I do recommend a stay but take care with your accommodation
Wonderful, memorable experience. Gorgeous property and superb staff. To top it off, a first class chef and a fantastic dinner. Will definitely come again.
Le lieu
Très mauvaise isolation phonique, nous entendions la télé, les gens marcher au dessus de nous et avons été réveillé par les gens dans le couloir
The location and setting was beautiful. Room were lovely and had everything you could need.
I had messaged weeks in advance that it was a special occasion and one person was vegan. At dinner, the only vegan option was substandard. There was bread provided that wasn't vegan nor was there any vegan butter. The meal was returned and a different option was provided meaning that we ate at different times. Disappointing for the price. At breakfast again..no vegan butter and all pastries contained dairy.
Stunning location set in the countryside of Celbridge. A tranquil haven for the rest and relaxation you need. A little piece of heaven on earth.
It's really beautiful and quaint, very peaceful. The rooms are amazing it reminds me of a film set but without the chaos. The staff are fantastic and the food and facilities are incredible. Great place to relax and unwind. We were celebrating a special anniversary and they had a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge at the suite on arrival. We received a complimentary dessert after dinner which was a lovely touch.
It's very expensive but you get what you pay for
I loved the originality of the estate and the stunning gardens especially the fabulous hydrangeas Also the location of the restaurant is stunning and the food memorable . Breakfast is served in an amazing orangery and is just perfect
I was not happy with the first room we were allocated - too dark and far away from reception -but the receptionist changed it quickly to a beautiful room overlooking the river with its own balcony
Everything was superb, staff were all very friendly, efficient and welcoming. Gorgeous room, spacious and nice bathroom with plenty storage. Grounds are stunning
Lovely location in the middle of nowhere, yet 35 minutes from Dublin airport. So peaceful. Three different eating options. We had dinner at the Mill which was great. Room very comfortable. Bed was a dream. Right on the Grand Canal for endless walks or bike rides. Very charming and full of character.
Door handle to the room/lock needs fixing. 4pm checking way too late.
Great location. Absolutely beautiful complex. Fun to bike ride along the grand Canal. The little shop for coffee and drinks was very convenient. Room cleanup was inconsistent. Carpet was dirty, trash not always taken out and bathroom not fully cleaned. The spa was unable to provide an appointment for my wife during our three day stay. Neither of the whirlpools were fully functional, and the saunas were not that hot. Dinner and breakfast were very good. Dinner service was slow, our server did not realize we had finished our main course have not been at our table for sometime. Walls in our building are very thin. We could hear the conversation conversations in the next room.
Vackra gamla byggnader vid kanalen, god mat och frukost.
Slitet boende och dåligt städat.
