Amazing cultural experience
I am writing to express my absolute outrage and to lodge a formal complaint against the fraudulent financial misconduct regarding my current stay at Chateau de Bouceel now! The original room rate was EUR 820, which you have already deducted from my account. On top of that, you are STILL holding another EUR 820 as a "reserve/pre-authorization" on my card. This illegal double hold is already entirely unacceptable. To make matters worse, yesterday the hotel owner arbitrarily charged my card ANOTHER EUR 300 without any justifiable reason or proper explanation, bringing the total receipt amount to an absurd EUR 1,120. This is outright robbery. You are currently tying up nearly EUR 2,000 of my hard-earned money for a EUR 820 booking! I demand an immediate, line-by-line explanation for the additional EUR 300 charge, and I demand that the EUR 820 illegal hold be released RIGHT NOW. If this matter is not resolved, the unauthorized EUR 300 charge reversed, and the EUR 820 hold canceled within 24 hours, I will immediately: 1. File a dispute with my credit card company for unauthorized and fraudulent transactions. 2. Report both Booking.com and this hotel to the European Consumer Centre (ECC) and local authorities for financial fraud. I expect an immediate response and immediate action. Do not send me automated template.

The grounds and house are lovely. The dinner was excellent and the staff, especially, the owner, made the stay a memorable experience because of his delightful personality and explanation all of the history of the Château.
If you are looking for all the amenities of a five star hotel, this may not be for you but if you want to submerge yourself in history, and the flavor of France, then you will have a wonderful stay.
Everything
Nothing
This is a family property that treats their guests like family. Erica and the Count, Regis, were wonderful and truly kind. This was an experience my family and I will always remember. We hope to be back soon.
I didn’t like having to leave.
De buitenkant
Amazing property with charm, history, tradition. Calm and peaceful.
I loved the property, it should be considered that it is not an hotel, but a private residence.
Идеальный отдых в историческом здание с антикварными вещами и приятными хозяевами дома
Wonderful place. Beautifully renovated and maintained. A pleasure to stay there.
Nothing.
We loved it! Family was so warm and welcoming and the place was beautiful. Close to st Michel as well.
la struttura è bellissima e pulita. la sala colazione è meravigliosa. la nostra stanza era ristrutturata e molto graziosa. tutto bellissimo
The location is very convenient if you want to visit Mont St Michel. Erika and her husband are very helpful to find the best restaurants and activities around
This place is meant for those who like to sleep in a museum without the modern comfort. Fair enough you don’t expect a modern room like the four seasons but some investments are needed to make this place more comfortable. As an example there no proper heating/aircon except a very noisy mobile aircon that prevents from sleeping and in the summer Normandy can be very hot. Also we were not comfortable leaving our key behind and easily accessed by any guest. Seriously who would run away with an old key while staying there. I could go on with the list of things that would make your stay more enjoyable but it would be too long. All in all it is not worth the 700 euros you pay. There are better options in the nearby towns.
The chateau was beautiful, Erika went above and beyond to help us. She set up a dinner for us that was absolutely amazing! The rooms were perfect, the air conditioning worked very well. We loved everything about our stay here and highly recommend it!

Best service Location & hospitality
My expectations were high and they were exceeded. Wonderful family and beautiful chateau! Hopefully, we can return some day.

Amazing place !!
All was perfect!
I had a magical and memorable stay at this beautifully kept and historic Chateau. The Chateau is located around 20 minutes from Mont St. Michele and hours drive from dinan. The chateau itself is located on a peaceful country road on grounds inhabited by a lovely flock of geese who spend their days meandering the properties’ ponds. The rooms are comfortable and immaculately clean with strong air conditioning and decorated with antiques and paintings that speak to the history of the home. The service, a small professional team complimented by the warm hospitality of the de Roquefeuil family made the experience memorable. The highlight of my stay was chatting with the Count Regis de Roquefeuil, who graciously entertained my many questions about the history of the Chateau (the current property predates the french revolution and has seen tremendous moments in history). We were also glad we elected to enjoy the breakfast, which the family customizes to the guests taste. We were also pleasantly surprised at the number of services and amenities that the owners were able to offer (everything from the honor bar to a host of experiences that can be arranged). We look forward to our return
Location in the countryside really nice and peaceful. Expansive spaces surrounding the main building well taken care of and overall very pleasant. Access by car easy, as well as parking spaces available. Hotel personnel obliging and attentive to our needs. Room quite spacious (by standard room, if not by suite standards) and sunny. Sleep comfort was ok.
Hotel does not offer amenities expected from a 5* lodging of this price category: no lobby, bar, outside cafe etc. Our room did not offer a TV (!), nor a desk of any kind. Overall, the place did not do justice to a price tag of almost 1000 EUR/day for our suite. If you favour a museum-type experience, with old furnishings and a building in need of renovation, that may be the place for you. For us, this is definitely not our idea of luxury holidays... In spite of the efforts of the owner family.
Everything! Everyone was very helpful and we could have asked for more! The grounds were exceptional the staff were amazing and the food was delicious!
Nothing
Beautiful property, both the chateau and the surrounding park, helpful and kind host Erika. Rooms are decorated accordingly to the history of the chateau while necessary rebuilding (bathrooms) did not ruin the spirit of chateau. Food and the groceries served for breakfast are of exceptional quality.
One would expect to get all the expected amenities considering the price, but gadgets like smart speaker and TV set are not in the room equipment.
We loved the stories from the owner.
Talking to the owner and learning about the history of the family and castle.
That’s amazing property, with one of the nicest and well thought designs that I’ve seen. Amazing hosts who was very helpful with bookings etc during our stay. A lot of animals - ducks, donkeys, cats, dogs etc. Good breakfast. Very close to Mont St Michel. Try amazing restaurant Auberge Sauvage nearby.
Deposit is still not back (2 weeks)
Perfect! Miraculous!
Erika and all of the staff were more than perfect. Everyone went out of their way to make us fell at home in their 'house' and to assist us in every way to make our visit to the region memorable.
I could not suggest any areas of improvement
Wonderful place!
Everything!!!! The location, the chateau, the people, everything was just perfect . A special thanks to Erika!

Grounds & quiet atmosphere.
This was our second stay, it was wonderful, there is an ‘honesty bar’ that has champagne, wine, beer and soft drinks as well as meals and snacks, we ended up eating at the house twice as we were so tired from driving and sightseeing, for ‘microwaved food’ it was actually amazing and it felt like a five star experience (see my photo of us dinning)
There is nothing to dislike, if you understand the various quirks of a listed property, then you will love it, if you are looking for a five star cookie cutter hotel stay, this will not be that lol creaking floors, imperfections which make this such a lovely experience, the eclectic furnishings and gorgeous fabrics keep each stay a pleasant and intriguing one - I have no complaints - we love Erica and the team!
The owner and staff were lovely. I wish we had more time to enjoy this unique property. I will be trying to return some day!
All the staff was great. Erica was super helpful getting us dinner reservations and directions to Mt Saint Michel
Nothing
Incredible experience staying in such a unique place. The hosts were always on hand to help with any requests and provide their deep knowledge of the area and the facilities were second to none. Stay here for a 5* star experience
We enjoyed every minute in this beautiful place. Very nice surroundings, friendly owners, delicious breakfast. Beautiful rooms and decor, elegant still feels like home.
They are really serious about checking in by 8 PM. It’s a lovely hotel, but very expensive. The grounds are beautiful as well. The breakfast would’ve been very expensive so we drove several miles to a town to get something to eat. The pool is not as close to the building, as one might surmise from the photos. The rooms are big and well decorated. There is no TV in the room. The staff try very hard to be helpful. A relaxing stay.
Erica was the perfect host that attended to our every need. The owner Regis was an amazing man that told the most amazing stories, Just a lovely experience. It actually looks like the photos posted on the website. 5 star the whole way.
we loved everything about this stay, being in this Chateau is a unique experience of hospitality, culture and atmosphere. exceptional!
none
Love the rooms, decoration and especially the family running the property. Super friendly, and extremely professional and welcoming.
Nothing. Everything was great. Sensational place.
Full of history, authentic, family home, clean, welcoming staff, nice and original experience overall (having dinner at the host’s table with all the other residents of the hotel)
the rooms on the second floor, even though spacious and nicely decorated, had a low ceiling and were a bit isolated.
The family who runs the chateau could not be any better. They were helpful, knowledgeable and willing to do whatever to help ensure our stay was perfect.
the place the style owner
A very beautiful and historical family chateau, hosted by one of the family members and his wonderful, helpful and cheerful wife. The property is beautifully furnished with period art and books. It has a huge bright garden with a beautiful pool and many adorable birds. The room was large and clean, with a huge bathroom and super comfortable beds. A sweet bengal cat named Santis walks around the property sometimes making it even more magical. I highly recommend their dinner. You must book it in advance. Erica cooked it herself and it was very delicious!
beautiful location and lovely staff
unfortunately there was no hot water which was a shame. we did receive an apology email explaining that it had been fixed after we’d left.
The chateau created a lovely memory for us for years to come! the chateau was stunning and warm- the grounds were equally beautiful and the dinner was amazing- thank you erika and family!
champagne price was a bit high on arrival but everything else ok
lovely old château, beautifully renovated. large and warm outdoor pool. excellent breakfast spread.
Bouceel Castle was a splurge stay for my wife and I but we only planned on staying 1 night in this area and it was well worth it. We were so impressed with our room, our view, the grounds, the decor... it was a shame we only booked one night. The highlight of course was learning about the history of the home and it's original owner. Very interesting and very sweet that he took the time to share it with us. What more can I say? It is a very special place. However, and perhaps most would consider this, but good restaurants book quickly in this area so you'll want to make reservations well ahead of your stay.
Extraordinary beauty. The breakfast room was exquisitely beautiful and the coffee flowed freely - they were incredibly indulgent. The grounds were incredibly beautiful and watercolour classes were one of the most wonderful holiday experiences you could imagine.
French is a beautiful language and adds enormously to atmosphere. The experience would have been more pleasurable if people had spoken French in the Chateau.
Encantador castillo, la familia te atiende con todo detalle, la comida casera y deliciosa, los cuartos hermosos con todas las comodidades, los alrededores apacibles y los jardines muy bien cuidados.

Great place. Great dining. Great property. Would stay again in the future.
Amazing Chateau! The house itself and the grounds are beautiful. The family was wonderful to us and took time to discuss the history of the Chateau and their family, which really enriched our experience. We hope to stay again!
Beautiful area and elegant surroundings. The Château has been in the family for generations, and the new generation is now in charge, with background assistance from their elders. They are very thoughtful and attentive. Dinner at the farmhouse was fun— a chance to chat with staff and other guests from many countries. Breakfast was self-service in the elegant dining room, the center of the home. We stayed between visits to Mont Saint-Michel and the Loire Valley chateaus.
The host was very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The chateau was beautiful and the breakfast was great.
This is an exceptional chateau with a lot of history dating back centuries. We fell in love with it and plan to go back for another stay next year.
The accommodation was fantastic and the service was excellent. Hoping to stay again another time and enjoy the accommodation for the other facilities too. Breakfast was also great.
Wonderful atmosphere. Very frindly stuff. Was very nice.
It was a real treat to stay here.
What an amazing find! This hotel is actually an 18th century Chateau that has been in the owner’s family for generations. Count Regis is well known in the area and is a fantastic host. I recommend walking around the grounds and having the offered family style dinner, cooked by his daughter in law with local ingredients. It was nice to have a traditional dinner with all the other guests. Even more moving was hearing the Count’s stories of his father, who served in the French Resistance. Also, the Count cares for a grave site of an American WWII KIA. He gave us a bouquet to place on his grave, which is in the American Cemetery nearby. It was a very moving experience and one we will never forget.
Wonderful country estate and opportunity to socialize (meals) with a small number of fellow travel aficionados.
Gorgeous chateau in the countryside near sites like Mont Saint Michel. Wonderful and knowledgeable host and staff. Impeccable grounds, clean rooms. Got a chance to meet interesting other guests staying at the Chateau during dinner. Charming rooms and very quiet. My wife and I enjoyed our stay very much.
Our stay was idyllic. The staff was as charming as the property. We hope to get the chance to visit again someday.
We had a great time at the Chateau. The morning walk and scenery, the home style rooms in an old private mansion and the conversation with the host.
Más que un hotel es una experiencia totalmente diferente, pues la energía del lugar es muy especial por ser un castillo, su dueño y personal son encantadores. Muy recomendable !!
Simply stunning. The house, the staff and the surroundings...possibly the most beautiful and romantic place you will ever stay.
The drive to the chateau is picturesque. The grounds of the property are idyllic. We were greeted at the door by the owner who showed us to our room. The room was delightful, spacious and beautifully furnished. The owner joined us for breakfast (which was delicious!) and shared some of the history of the property and his family. It was absolutely fascinating! The owner was incredibly warm, thoughtful and charming. After breakfast, the owner was kind enough to give us a tour of the rest of the chateau. What a treasure! We would return in a heartbeat. Highly recommended!
This was a beautiful Château. The family was very inviting. We enjoyed learning about the local history while eating breakfast and dinner that was really well prepared. One of the top places to visit if you are in the area.
