A really lovely guest house, with friendly and exceptionally accommodating hosts. The room I stayed in was clean, very comfortable, and homely. Great access to Sumner and Sumner Beach.

There are facilities to make your own meals - kettle, fridge, microwave, stove top, cutlery, plates, cups, glasses, etc. The location is beautiful, situation right across the road from Cave Rock and the beach, with an abundance of cafe's and restaurants within easy walking distance.

This was an unexpected surprise. Directly across from the fascinating Cave Rock on the beach; outside Christchurch proper. Feels like a long-established beach town. Quiet, yet places to eat in all directions. Our stay was in a very comfortably converted garage.

This was a great place to stay in Christchurch. It was very clean and extremely comfortable. It was a unit really. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Perfect spot opposite the beach and a variety of restaurants in easy walking distance. Perfect.

The location is stunning, right on the esplanade just meters from the beautiful sandy beach.The owner was very helpful and the price was very reasonable given the location .

The room was perhaps a little dated and there was an overpowering smell of dettol in the room which remained the whole stay

Super Lage direkt am Strand. Man hätte auch direkt mit dem Bus von Christchurch anreisen können. Zimmer ist sehr gut ausgestattet und die Gastgeber sind sehr nett.

It was a very wet day. Having carpet at the entrance of the bedroom as well as the whole room was a it inconvenient to not get everything wet as thare no big outdoor coverage to leave your wet gear outside.

Can’t fault it.

The location of the property is only across the street from Sumner Beach which is excellent. The budget double room is bigger than we expected, and for a very good value. The hosts are brilliant, easy to talk to and very accommodating. Having a dog at the property is always a plus too! In our opinion that is :)

Good sized room and spacious, well fitted bathroom. Comes with a kettle , fridge, toaster and microwave. Great location on the front at Sumner, with cafes and restaurants close by. Friendly, helpful owners and a very friendly dog! Great for beach access and for those that like parkrun, Scarborough parkrun is only a 10 min jog away.

Personally we found the bed a bit soft, but that is down to personal preference.

Liked the location, so close to the beach. This unit though small and compact had just about everything needed plus its own little courtyard with table and chairs and good natural light from the full length window/door looking out to the little garden. Also importantly, a blind for privacy when desired. Loved the fresh ground coffee supplied by our kind host for the coffee plunger, and the lovely restaurant on the beach opposite which served us a delicious and romantic meal for two together with a warm and welcoming ambience.

Would have appreciated a little milk for coffee/tea but I’m sure this would have been supplied had we asked. There was a supermarket close by so no real problem but might be more of an issue had we arrived late in the evening.

Perfect location, lovely calm garden, comfortable rooms with microwave, fridge and washing up sink. Very peaceful and perfect for our one night stay.

Maybe a bottle of water and a small bottle of milk could have been provided for the coffee and tea which was provided. Also I think the shower/toilet room could have a glass enclosure installed in the outside room.

Gayle was very friendly and helpful. Loved the location very close to the beach and local eateries and shops.

It’s a beautiful property right on the beach near lots of great places to eat. All facilities are included and there is a huge amount of space with lovely views overlooking the sea. The hosts are wonderful and as far as we are concerned this is one of our best value stops in NZ

Cave Rock Guest House is in a perfect location across the road from the beach, close to restaurants and everything else needed. Host Gayle, made us very welcome.

Brilliant location - looking over car park to Sumner Beach. Short walk to everything, restaurant opposite, cafes nearby, Flat walks along beach or along promenade into Christchurch. Sumner is a very nice area. We only used one of the 2 bedrooms and it was very spacious with nice / well stocked en suite. Front of apartment (kitchen area, dining area, seating area) is laid out with large windows that you open back to give wonderful views while you are eating or relaxing on the sofa.

We had the whole upstairs in the owners' house so there is no door to close between you and the rest of the building so we were very aware about making too much noise

The location was awesome. A good choice of cafes and restaurants, as well as a small supermarket in walking distance. The bedroom and living area were large and very comfortable. Everything was very clean. The Hosts were very helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend.

We really love the location, right in front of the beach, which makes it very appealing. The host is lovely and welcoming, and we got to meet Bruce, the cute dog 🥰. The bedroom studio at the back with a garden view was so comfy, making this our new favorite accommodation in Sumner for a short-drive weekend getaway.

We honestly didn’t find anything we didn’t like, everything was perfect!

It is a private property with a very smart, helpful owner lady staying on ground floor. This suite is within the house on 1st floor, so for us trying to be good guests, tiptoeing and whispering all the time was slightly stressful, although the nice lady never imposed any such restrictions.

Beachfront location with wide views from the alps to the ocean and everything in between. Large comfortable bedrooms with ensuites and everything beautifully appointed. Our hosts were very welcoming and generous with their time but never cramped our style. An awesome stay.
