Provider-sourced guest reviews.
It's in a fantastic location for starting the Coast to Coast with very little competition for food etc. The room albeit a bit small was fine clean and tidy. Breakfast was substantial
The reception and bar very dated and reminded me of 1980's working men's club. Evening meal okay but had to eat in bar as restaurant booked out for a function. Staff not unfriendly but close!
breakfast was good with a good choice of hot and cold food and drink
everything was fine
Lovely setting near the beach. Restaurant was very good.
Only one bar staff person on & there was a long wait to buy a drink.
Clean airy room.. comfortable beds. Evening meal was great with generous portions.
Location
Friendly welcoming staff and a nice comfortable first night stay on our Coast to Coast stay with the start a few metres away
Great location
Breakfast was poor
Very comfortable and clean. Great location for us as starting Coast to Coast next day. Staff were lovely and food was good.
Can’t think of anything really
The location is perfect to start the Coast to Coast walk. All the staff were very friendly and helpful especially in the restaurant. The dinner and buffet breakfast were both good with excellent service. The room was big and the beds very comfortable.
Nicely located near the beach . Ample of parking spaces .Room was clean and good size for a family .Beds were comfortable .On site restaurant was great but you need to prebook a table ,food was great and reasonably priced .Restaurant closes soon but bar is open till late .Morning breakfast was good , it is not a full buffet , serves english breakfast on order, need to prebook .Not too many eateries nearby so if you are late only option of food is the hotel restaurant . It was a pleasant stay , staff were good ,location is fantastic if you want to have a walk along the beach .
Room view was good , but could be better .Only few upper floor rooms were sea facing .
The sea view from our room kroninburg 1664 exceptional food
Nothing
Second year running as a group of 8 with dogs and we had a lovely time. Fantastic place to stay lovely walks.
We felt that the menu in the seacote was better last year but it was still nice. We just felt that the prices had gone up and the portion size went down
Good tasty breakfast
We paid for a two-night stay and expected two days of room servicing. This was not the case. Toiletries and beverages not replenished, and the cups and teaspoons were still sitting with dregs of tea in them both. There was water in the kettle when we arrived, god only knows how long that's been sitting in there. The bed hadn't been made professionally, just the sheet pulled up.
Fantastic location and home for me. Lovely staff. Friendly and accommodating. So close to the start of the Coast to Coast walk.
Fabulous location with a view of the sea from our room.
The system for booking a table in the restaurant was odd. And the hotel still looks very tired in places. Had vibes of Fawlty Towers. Still the location made up for it all.
Room was good and clean. No issue s
The breakfast room got very busy. Lots of walkers wanting to head out. We sat down at 7.10 and didn't get out hot food til gone 8.10. The staff were rushed off their feet. People were seating themselves and the ordering got very confused in terms of who arrived first. Really frustrating. Heard lots complain to each other. The food was lovely when it arrived. Well plated and good options. Just a bit too long when you have a long day ahead.
Beautiful location, perfect place to stay to explore area and Lake District. Very nice and helpful staff. Clean and comfy room
Good firm bed. Great shower. Very clean. Helpful staff. Perfectly located for the C2C walk.
A little noisy outside earlier on.
Location, beautiful coast, easily accessible public transport, bus stop right next to hotel carpark abd a short walk to train station. Right on the beach and hike trails. The people are friendly and welcoming and just a little gem of a find for a peaceful break away, highly recommend to be experienced if you need to completely reset.
There are no negatives on my part from my personal experience.
Lovely location with sea views. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Location and great sea view from room.
Dining facilities and service on Sunday evening was chaotic but overall good.
The location.
Location, we go a few times a year
Litter and dog poo in the outside seating are. Rooms are getting very tired
Lo Stile dell’albergo
Great having sea view. Comfortable bed. Very spacious room.
Clean and comfortable. Renovation makes the rooms batter
Everything. Room fantastic, staff fantastic, food fantastic!!
That I didn't book a longer stay!!!
Everything, the hotel and room were very clean and tidy. The meals were excellent and made to order. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was great. We would stay again
Nothing
Wonderful view of coast from our room - great start to a coast-to-coast walk. Great breakfast.
Bar was good views even better
Room was dirty
Food great.
Need more staff on at busy timed
Fantastic location and we were lucky enough to gave a sea view room.
Poor choice of cider in the bar.
Läget, den fina trädgården utanför baren
De ligging aan zee. Kamer met uitzicht op de zee. De wandelingen die je kan doen. Het lekkere ontbijt. Geweldig koffietentje aan het strand. Eigenlijk alles! Fietsen staan er veilig.

First time I had been back since refurbishments and the changes were noticable and for the better. Excellent breakfast and location (over the summer) with access to splendid beach
Having to book a certain time in restaurant/bar area for evening meal. It felt like I was reserving a table at The Ritz !
We've stayed several times for 1 or 2 nights just get away. Will stay again
The Staff are so friendly and helpful. Lovely food and beautiful beach nearby.
A little bit out of the way for other amenities e.g shops etc.
Location and friendly welcoming staff.
Is dated and in need of repairs. However, this is reflected in the price.
For an older style building it was very comfortable
Probably could be updated
Great place and staff
The location of the property is ideal. A front of hotel room has a view of St Bees head, and the park. It is close to Whitehaven if looking for somewhere to eat.
My stay here was incredibly disappointing, and I cannot recommend this hotel. The rooms are severely overpriced for what you get. The beds are highly uncomfortable, with cheap, unsupportive mattresses that make it feel like you're sleeping directly on the bed base. While the rooms are advertised as "refurbished," they feel entirely dated. My bathroom door had holes in it, and the shower caddy was heavily rusted—far below what you'd expect for £125 a night. The breakfast was equally frustrating. There were no hash browns, and guests are expected to make their own toast using a machine that takes nearly six minutes. Combined with a view of the council car park, with noisy locals, no air conditioning in a hot Cumbrian summer, and budget feel environment, the experience simply doesn't justify the price tag. You can find much better, premium options elsewhere for this rate.
Friendly staff. Room was huge and spotless and comfy . Food was really good
The rooms were clean and comfortable and the food was nice.
The reception area look tired.
Location and Restaurant food was very good
A little dated and in need of an update
Friendly staff. All clean and tidy. Nothing was to much trouble.
That we couldnt stay longer
Bed was really comfortable, room looked rather modern if you think in comparison of other seaside hotels! Shower - loved it! Would stay here again!
Bathroom door was squeaky which made my partner to wake up every time I went to toilet
Very good location only drawback was halal food availability and options nearby.
Everything was good
Lovely quaint little hotel, close to the beach but far from everywhere else, not that we minded, but with 1 full day here we thought we would see a bit more than we did of the lakes. But honestly, I loved the hotel.
The bed! The bed is the most important part of any hotel. Let's face it, the only thing you do in your hotel room for a minimum of 6 to 8 hours is sleep! It's so important that the mattress be fairly decent. This mattress was so used up that when we sat down we instantly sat in the base, it was as if the mattress wasn't there!. I would have given less points but it was clean, staff were lovely and the beach was near. Come on Seacote management, sort your mattresses out, that's what we pay for, a decent night's sleep!
Amazing location, good value for money
Close to the seaside, clean hotel, friendly staff.
I didn't dislike anything, although the menu was good, it could have had a couple of more dishes, at least one lamb dish, as the produce would be local fresh.
Location, ground floor spacious room with separate access to ourside as we had a dog. Plenty of parking spaces and friendly staff
Prior to booking breakfast and sunday lunch we'd looked at the menu on the hotel website. However when we went to eat some of the food items advertised were not available. This also applied to the current printed breakfast menu as items were not available and were a bit disappointed. The smart TV wasn't smart as it didn't link to WiFi.
Choice of cooked breakfast was excellent
Overall was nice. Environment and the view was excellent. Highly recommend
Location incredible, atmosphere peaceful, facilities excellent.
Great place to stay for an overnighter
Kitchen fan coming on at 550am! Plus chef smoking outside my window
Amazing location and well kept rooms, well stocked tea, coffee & complimentary biscuits, fresh towels daily, amazing breakfast choices you’ll definitely not be hungry until tea time. Staff are very helpful and friendly
Could do with a small fridge in the room to keep fresh milk etc but that’s just our personal preference
Mooi gelegen aan de kust met uitzicht op zee. Leuke beergarden en pub erbij.
Niks.
Staff are all very pleasant, but I must admit the reception staff leave a lot to be desired but the rest are great 5 star in bar and cleaner’s all very friendly.
The reception staff leave a lot of be desired, they just ignore you and carry on having their conversations. And after requesting a ground floor room and checking days before arrival and been told not a problem, then to find we had been put upstairs and no one on reception or just ignore was not happy.
Nejlepší byla nedělní odpolední hudební produkce ve stylu 80. let
It was very nice
The bed was a little small
Great place, great food and great staff located on the beach

Was a lovely hotel and a nice staff and great location
I have stayed here before and it was lovely but unfortunately this time the bed was awful, it was like we were lying on a bed of springs. We barely slept due to this
It was amazing for access to the beach, play area and beachfront shop
It wasn’t as modern as it could have been
Clean and tidy, we didn’t eat there but saw some of the food coming out on the evening. Outside entertainment was good. Breakfast was amazing very good value for money. 3 slices of bacon !!!
Perfect hotel stunning location.
Breakfast cooked cheap ingredients especially the sausage
A beautiful place in beautiful surroundings.
Nothing
Perfect location. Friendly staff. Clean room. Tasty food.
Decorating just a little tired and worn.
Very disappointing stay. The hotel looks nothing like the photos advertised on the website. Plaster was falling off the walls, the towels were full of holes, and the bathroom was unfinished. The mattress was in very poor condition and uncomfortable to sleep on. We were supposed to have dinner in a restaurant, but instead meals were served in a bar where intoxicated guests were loudly playing music, making it impossible to enjoy a peaceful meal. The food did not match either the menu or the photos presented by the hotel. There was also no information that the beach is rocky, dirty, and not suitable for swimming or relaxing. Overall, we feel misled by the hotel's description and photos. I also do not understand why Booking.com does not verify listings more thoroughly to ensure they accurately reflect the actual condition of the property. I would not recommend this hotel. Unfortunately, there was very little that we liked about our stay.

Location was good beautiful scenery just what we wanted a chilled few days .Food was excellent.
Need to have a welcome pack in room . WiFi password. Information about hotel as in needing to book for food even if you order from bar you have to book a time . Had to keep asking reception for information.
Breakfast was ok, had to wait a while for the omelette, the staff seemed to be rushing everything The second morning, they told us that the avocado had run out. Limited choice at the buffet, no fresh fruit etc
There was a musty damp smell throughout the building, probably the carpets, The hotel could do with a refurbishment
Had been watching this hotel for a while but expected it to be a bit lacklustre but I was seriously suprised. Room was huge just right for us and accompanying child. Traffic free path to beach. Food was excellent of its kind. Staff were naturally helpful at all times. Would definitely return now I have stayed there, much better than other places we have stayed in at St Bees
It would have been great to have had some form of screen between kids bed and adult/sitting area ..a key to the door that gave direct access to outside would have been good. Could do with slightly longer bath mat and if I were them I would not leave the stacked up high chairs as the first thing I saw coming through the door.
We had a lovely stay. The hotel has a beautiful sea view overlooking the cliffs, and our room was spacious and comfortable. The staff who welcomed us were friendly and approachable. I had informed them in advance that we would be arriving at around 9 p.m. after a long journey, and they were very accommodating and understanding. The housekeeping staff were also pleasant and helpful whenever I spoke with them, and all of our questions were answered promptly throughout our stay. The bathroom was a good size, with a spacious shower and reliable hot water, which made it very comfortable to use. We also enjoyed the food. My partner ordered the prawn starter, and it was absolutely delicious—we would definitely recommend trying it. And the garlic mushroom sauce for the steak was superb!
There were a few areas that could be improved. Although our room had a window, the view overlooked the large refuse bins, which wasn’t very pleasant. I also noticed that the clean towels were left on the bathroom floor after housekeeping, which didn’t seem very hygienic. The Wi-Fi connection was quite poor in our room. It was difficult to get a reliable signal, making it hard to use the internet. Overall, the staff were friendly and helpful, but improving these areas would make the stay even better.
I know this place very well, I had my Wedding reception in 1982. But I like to stay there at least once a year when visiting family. They always seem to be upgrading the rooms
One thing is having to ask for a hair dryer from reception. I would like them in the rooms, also the WiFi was not very stable. The staff are very helpful, and if a problem it’s felt with very quickly.
Great location.
The shower. A member of staff.
Location
Bathroom lock broken so no lock
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
The room was very small, the bed was not a full double and was more like a 3/4 bed which was not stated when we booked. The WiFi had little to no connection and phone signal was poor in the area. This made it difficult for us to plan our activities.
Goed ontbijt en een hele vriendelijke dame die alles regelde.
The hotel is situated in a beautiful, stunning location! It boasts a magnificent coastline and lovely areas for walking. Excellent, friendly, and polite staff. The bar is quiet and clean, and dogs are welcome. The breakfast was excellent—everything was tasty and fresh, with generous portions; the staff were friendly and helpful.
Everything was good. I would just like to see a bit more attention paid to the cleanliness of the room. We arrived at the hotel an hour after check-in began and the room wasn't ready yet; we waited in the bar (which wasn't a problem), but it seemed like the cleaning was done very hastily. That is my only comment.
Clean and the food was good and prices were reasonable.
Nothing everything was good
Everything
Location, helpful staff, great with dogs and comfy bed
Initially given too few towels
The beach was stunning and we also had great weather, a proper relaxed break.
Comfortable, welcoming, good shower, great breakfast, room had sea view. Right near the start of the Coast to Coast walk which was important to us.
Very busy to get served in bar and for bar food.
The location
Food wasnt amazing but served a purpose
The hotel was in a good location for the beach, but restricted by public transport.
Nothing
A very welcome stay at the end of the Backwards Coast to Coast. The staff in reception and in the bar were very friendly and welcoming
We were in the top rooms and they were unbearably hot
Staff. Cleanliness. Food is excellent.
Beds need improving no air con or fans.
Great location at the start of the Coast to Coast walk , super sea views, very friendly staff
Lovely view and lovely staff
Amazing location next to the beach with free parking.
The £10 fee for the dog per night is always a little jarring (but completely standard).
The location Beds so comfortable
Nothing it was perfect for our needs
Spacious room, clean, tidy ,comfortable with a lovely sea view. Staff helpful and friendly. facilities very good. Bar meal for evening was tasty and decent portion.
Would be ideal if the breakfast could also have a seperate small portion option as I don't usually eat breakfast just a fruit juice or tea and my husband has a dish of cereal. Couldn't justify spending £12.50 on that so did without. Beach cafe did offer this but would have been much nicer in the hotel.
Breakfast good location nice but bit isolated probably need car although did notice bus and is nearby railway station
Everything ok
The location was great for the beach
The hotel was ok needs a look at work done to it very dated
