Really comfortably bedroom, nice big bed and very clean. Staff were super accommodating and even let us check in early so we could get ready to go to a wedding. Breakfast was great too!

Dinner in restaurant was generally good, but see below. Breakfast was excellent. Room was clean and modern - except in one respect, see below.

My wife's fish pie at dinner was not sufficiently hot when served and had to be returned for that reason. The lack of double glazing in our room overlooking a main road meant a lot of traffic noise and it was hard to get sleep.

We loved everything about the place, ideal location for Plymouth & South Hams . Service was exceptional & staff so helpful & friendly.

Not enough fish in my fish & chips ! It was a bit skimpy but my partners meal was very good.

Very welcoming , friendly pub with rooms We had a room on the ground floor of the annexe which was large and comfortable with a seating area and direct access through french doors to a private garden. The bed and pillows were really comfortable and lovely to have a bath as well as a shower and good quality toiletries We had a lovely meal in the restaurant and breakfast was delicious, served by a lady who couldn't do enough to help. Outside space is lovely, including a beautiful rose garden and parking spaces in the pub car park are reserved for hotel guests Would highly recommend.

If you are a light sleeper, the noise from the main road may disturb you along with the plumbing from other rooms !! Not a big issue though and the building is old

Great family room. Very hot as it is an attic room with only small windows that could be opened. Good value for the money though and exactly what we needed as we were in the area for a wedding.

Good food in restaurant - nice breakfast - well appointed room. Efficiently run. Could be a little noisy if children in rooms above - but was school summer holidays. Would stay again.

Restaurant - service was slow when pub very busy - possibly beware of promotional evenings / events in high season.

The whole experience was very good including an excellent breakfast. Our of our daughters had stayed here previously and was full of praise. This visit met her level of appreciation.

Shower in the room didn’t work properly. The guest in the room below had his tv on very load all night. It may be worth posting notices in rooms asking guests to consider others when using the tv Neither of us slept.

The location for a base to walk the SW Coastal Path. The qualiry of the food was good. Nice outdoor seating facilities.

We stay quite often and always find it a cosy place to stay. This time we experienced the rose garden which was superb . Lovely to sit out on a summer’s day and enjoy the garden. My partner was especially taken with the garden to the rear of Peel house.

All the staff are really attentive, the food is delicious and the property is immaculate. Can’t fault it and would highly recommend.

Everything. Clean well appointed room, with comfortable bed, lovely bathroom with stand alone bath and a seperate shower unit. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Only a few miles from Plymouth and the A38. We will definitely use again. Although we did not eat in the bar as we had already arranged to meet friends, what we saw looked really lovely. Will definitely stay again and try the food. Another great St Austell Brewery Pub !! Thank you

We didn't have breakfast so cannot comment. Room was comfortable, the provision of a fan and the fact that it had been on prior to our arrival helped the room feel nice and cool (as it was during the week of extreme heat!) and it was clean and well equipped. Dinner was delicious - not too large portions, cooked to perfection and very tasty.

The bathroom felt and smelt slightly damp - I think the shower may leak around the drain?

On the night we stayed our evening meal was served in the main bar area.....it was very noisy with drinkers and a live singer competing to be heard, we were unable to converse with each other as at times the noise was hugely overpowering. Not condusive to eating the good food.

It was really lovely, staff friendly and very helpful. We booked a room for our dog to stay with us it was a great size, lovely room, lots of little extra touches, even a doggie bag with treats. We ate there for both nights as food was lovely and dog was welcome.

Only observation is that my 90 year old father stayed in a front ground floor bedroom and a handrail down the steps into bathroom would have been useful and a grad rail in shower.

Wunderschönes, zauberhaftes Hotel. Die Zimmer sind stilvoll und hübsch eingerichtet. Alles ist sehr sauber, das Personal sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Frühstück, welches ebenfalls sehr hochwertig und lecker war, gab es neben an im Pub in dem man auch abends sehr gut essen kann. Auf jeden Fall eine Empfehlung.

This property is so charming, had parking and a fabulous restaurant. They gave us a private room to have dinner before our gig. There was a beautiful garden that our room overlooked and the bed was very comfortable.

Absolutely nothing.

The room was lovely, very clean and comforable, very good facilities in the room. The staff were all so lovely and attentive, very friendly and could not do enough for you. The outside of the property looked stunning with lots of planting to create colour and there is a very good sized car park. The food was very very good, great choices on the menus, and breakfast as something to look forward to.

Nothing that the staff could have done, but the chinese across the road made a lot of noise with engines running and car doors opening and closing, loud voices and generally oblivious that there are guests staying across the road while they were in and out for deliveries. This did stop when it closed so wasn't a major issue. The door to my room shook and shuddered every time someone came in and out of the main front doors so perhaps a foam insulating tape could prevent that just inside the frame? and also, the internal door inside the front door has a really loud squeak so the hinges could do with some oil. The carpet in my room is in need of replacing, you could tell the room as clean, but the carpet was stained in a few areas which is an easy fix

We very much enjoyed the excellent breakfasts served by Sarah Jane. Our room.ead was clean and comfortable.

I've stayed here quite a few times and will continue to if the property is not fully booked after all the good reviews I've left! Easy parking, fantastic staff, amazing restaurant and great breakfast.

Some noise from other rooms and doors, etc but it is an old building!

The bed was very comfortable, the room was very clean and had everything we needed for a few nights stay. The room was in a separate building beside the pub. This had the disadvantage that you have to go outside to get to breakfast but the advantage that you aren't over the very popular bar and restaurant. The food was very good, a nice selection for breakfast and the dinners we had were well cooked and reasonably priced.

The bedding was crisp and clean and the bed extremely comfortable. The room was warm.

The bathroom was the size of a small wardrobe. My partner didn’t have space to shave. The shelf for toiletries and toothbrushes was directly above the toilet so not hygienic. The building is old- which has its understandable quirks, but it’s no exaggeration to say that we could not see out in the morning for condensation on the windows

Was rushed out told I paid for breakfast wasn’t offered key was taken and she went back to the coffee machine and invoice will be sent 4 days later still no invoice Was busy in the pub one staff member loads tof people in the bar so think was stressed but I lost out and after being left for a while she came over and wasn’t the friendliest

I think this is my 4th stay and I'll keep going back if there is a room to be had! Easy parking, staff that have always made me feel incredibly welcome, decent rooms and a spot on pub for dinner. The breakfast is also top notch!

The sound insulation between rooms is not great and the shower was weak. Not so much as it would ever put me off but....

Lots of character yet well refurbished with modern facilities. Plenty of car parking and being able to leave the car safely.

Great hotel only a few miles outside Plymouth. Pretty area . Great food and helpful staff would stay again.

We had a small family crisis and needed accommodation at short notice with two small children. The staff at the Rose and Crown could not have been more helpful or accommodating. Beds for the children were set up at very short notice assuring us of a comfortable stay. The Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice for both adults and children.

food both at dinner and breakfast was cold. At dinner we did tell the waiter who removed 3 plates of food meaning our daughter ate on her own, we were given a free round of drinks and 3 desserts to compensate. But when we had breakfast the next day this was also all cold - we couldn't be bothered to raise this and left without telling anyone. But as the weekend was supposed to be to celebrate husbands birthday and our daughter travelled from London with her husband to join us it was really disappointing. Regarding the rooms we can only say how useless the showers were and such a tiny sink too!! Rather disappointing but the room decor was nice.

The room was freezing on arrival, as was my friend’s room too. First impressions count. Would have been very easy for the staff to have turned the heating on beforehand. Very pleasant pub and good food. Wifi code or connectivity instructions would be useful.

The room was spacious, comfortable and bed very comfortable. Had all the facilities we needed - including a nice extra, a pillow spray for relaxation! We had a meal in the pub - good choice of food and we were very happy with the quality. Breakfast was equally good. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Location close to Plymouth but not in the town was perfect for us.

Room was quite cold when we first arrived (had to put heating on full as soon as we arrived) - bathroom had no heating so was decidedly chilly in what was a cold and frosty night.

Really nice room, better than the photos! Huge bathroom, nice and clean. Quiet at the top of the building and the rooms are not above the pub which was an unexpected bonus. Coffee and biscuits in the room was a nice touch as well as menus for the pub so we could look ahead of time. Nice toiletries in the bathroom too.

It was a very cold weekend and the room was quite chilly. It had two radiators and only one was on so it took a while for the other to make a difference. The rads were not very hot even when turned up. The towel rail in the bathroom was not on so the bathroom was freezing too. Took a while to figure out how to turn it on! There's no hooks to hang your coats - that would be a good addition 😉 The main issue though was comfort. The pillows were flat and hard and we only had one each. Found another in a cupboard but no pillow cases on the spares. The mattresses (the king-size bed is two singles together and could benefit from a topper so you can't feel the join) were soft. This is absolutely personal preference but a soft mattress is no good for my back and I couldn't get comfy and when I woke I was stiff and achy instead of refreshed. If you like a softer mattress then you'll love this room! Finally, the TV is a smart TV but doesn't connect to the WiFi. So you can't use any of the smart features or mirror streamed content from your phone. We were in the middle of a series and hoped to get in a few episodes but were unable to connect which was a shame. I'd forgotten how woeful the options are on terrestrial telly!

We’ve stayed here a few times and it’s always great. The staff are all super friendly and helpful. Special shout out to Adele who cleaned our room beautifully and made sure we had everything we needed. We loved her Christmas elf outfit too :)

Room was lovely, spacious and clean

When we arrived it said we had a booking for 2 people but I had confirmation through booking com for 3 adults. It did send me into a panic as we had driven for 7 hiurs to get there but the staff quickly reassured me it was an error on the system and that they would go make another bed up. They were promt and very polite and dealt with the issue proffesionally. Drinks at the bar were very expensive, but its to be expected and we are tight yorkshire lasses!
