Newberry Beach lodge

We loved everything. It had a quirky charm and we loved the friendliness and welcome from the owner, plus the excellent breakfast, very comfortable room with great bathroom, beautiful view from the window, and superb location so close to Newberry Beach and the town.

The Newberry Beach Lodge was such a find! The accommodation was comfortable, peaceful, and tastefully decorated. The location was perfect, with stunning views of the bay; safe swimming from the beach below; and easy access to the town and coastal walks. The hosts, Jane and Christopher, were warm, welcoming, and very thoughtful. They are special people who made us feel thoroughly spoilt... Christopher cooks a mean breakfast, too! 😋

Small family-run hotel on the coastal path down to the beach. Stunning views, warm and attentive hosts, charming decor, freshly cooked full English breakfast to order, great big bathroom with modern shower and the most amazing bathtub! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

If I was being picky, I would've loved some Earl Grey tea bags in the room and shampoo/ conditioner in the bathroom (but I brought my own anyway, so not a problem)

The hosts are really welcoming. Localisation is Perfect : few steps from the village and the facilities and easy to visit Exmoor national Park. We recommend!!

Wir hatten ein phantastisches Zimmer mit riesigem Bad mit Wanne und Regendusche und Blick aufs Meer. Uns hat die Einrichtung und Ausstattung sehr gefallen. Das Zimmer war trotz der relativ hohen Außentemperaturen angenehm kühl. Wir würden wiederkommen.

Vertskapet var særdeles hyggelige og hjelpsomme med alt mulig. Rommet var stort og badet enormt. Bar noen meter til hyggelig liten strand. Verten sendte med oss både nistepakke, fersk eplejuice og en kurv jordbær da vi reiste videre. Anbefales på det varmeste

Very lovely hotel plenty to look at in the home eg beach treasure, antiques and history of combe martin. The management was very nice and helped with info etc.

There was no warning that shower is missing: a beautiful victorian bathtub is only equipped with a ladle to wash yourself.

We absolutely loved the place. It is beautifully decorated with quirky decor. The hosts were super friendly and it's in an amazing location. The room was comfy and we had a lovely breakfast (excellent poached eggs!).

I hate to say it because it was a great stay but the mattress was soft although that is personal preference & the duvet was very heavy. A bath mat in the shower would help, that is meant as constructive criticism not a complaint

Friendly and very welcoming hosts. Comfy bed and splendid breakfast. Don’t be put off by the exterior - once you go through the front door you will experience a wonderfully quirky and clearly much loved interior.

The host was very accommodating and let me check-in early on a wet and windy day. Greatly appreciated. Lovely breakfast.

Christopher was super friendly and went out of his way to help us. The breakfast was lovely and the bed comfortable. It is perfect for access to the South West Coastal Path.

There was only a bath rather than a shower which was tricky to wash long hair…but not impossible!

Awesome view of the sea from the room we had. Very comfy bed. Huge bathroom and proper bath, great after our long want. The host grabbed my big backpack on entry and carried it for me! Very friendly! Vegan milk very available, and interesting herbal teas. Slightly rough and ready but we loved that, cool room, but it was a cold and windy time outside. Impressive small but versatile local shop... It might have that thing you want . There were handwritten notes at the entrance in case we were early to sort us out ... But we weren't early so didn't read. But again, thoughtful and welcoming. Attentive breakfast, we were asked if we'd had all we needed rather than how the food was... Kind of checking on how we felt, which was homely! Good food.

In town, plan ahead for evening meal if not in a car. When we went there was one pub running, which stopped serving food at an unpublished time . Good food in pub, though, and again, the sea impressively close!

Jane and Cristopher gave us a most hearty welcome. Excellent location by the sea. You could not find more helpful and friendly hosts. They helped us plan our visits magnificently. They introduced us very deftly to Damien Hirst’s statue in Ifracombe, packhorse bridges, stunning hikes in the area and many other things.

I was walking the coast path. I really appreciated being able to have a full breakfast from 6.30 am. The room was comfortable and with a great view of the bay and sea. The owners were friendly and I enjoyed my stay.

A very comfortable and cosy room with a wonderful view over the bay. Our hosts were very friendly and accommodating and provided a delicious breakfast. All in all a very nice trip.

Such wonderful hosts. The room was a perfect stop on our coast path walk. The bed was comfy shower was hot and powerful, beautiful sea view and tasty breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble Chris was kind and helpful.

I’m not one for posting reviews (good or bad) but I had to leave one for Chris & Jane because they were absolutely the most amazing hosts. 4 nights, 1st time away with our little one and they made us feel so so welcome. Breakfast was great, location is incredible, rooms were clean and comfortable. Thank you so much - We’ll be back!

The view and location is exceptional and parking on site.

The heating wasn't on it was freezing in my room at night so I slept fully clothed.

Lovely location and comfy bed! Great views from a big window. Chris was very welcoming and quick to respond to any questions. Breakfast was great. Room heated up quickly. If you’re lucky enough to meet the dogs you will definitely go back.

What an amazing find! We spent the night here for a wedding up the road and we couldn't have asked for more. Christopher was so accommodating and helpful - we really appreciated a lift up the road to our car (at the wedding venue) in the morning. The hotel is a beautiful beach house with stunning views across the coast. We had a lovely breakfast in the morning. We couldn't recommend Newberry Beach Lodge enough!

It was a home from home. Chris made is feel very welcome and nothing was to much trouble. Giving us help and tips of where to go things to see. And tea coffee as much as you like.

If I had to find something it was the bed is a bit squeaky. But very comfortable and good quality bedding.

Great place to stay. Home vibe, delicious breakfast, clean and comfortable. I have no words to say how grateful I am to Chris. Due to the bad weather I couldn’t continue my hike he gave me a lift to Lynton. When I back to Combe Martin I’ll definitely stay there again

The bed was the most comfortable we've ever slept in (room no1), and the breakfast was delicious, with a good variety to choose from. Christopher was friendly and very helpful, making some good suggestions for walks and places to visit, places we wouldn't have seen without his help. Overall, it is a great place to stay. Home from home vibe for us, we would definitely recommend staying here..

Haus und die Zimmer schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Bei uns hat im Badezimmer der Duschkopf in der Wanne gefehlt. Großer Becher als Ersatz nur begrenzt hilfreich.

We were welcomed warmly on arrival by one of our hosts Jane.We were able to park at the property and walk from their lovely home to explore the pretty village of Combe Martin.We loved the peace and quiet and could relax completely in their home. We met Chris, our other host, who was most friendly, helpful and made the most delicious breakfasts which set you up for the day!We had a lovely sea view from our bedroom and saw a beautiful sunset on our first evening.

We had a wonderful stay here. The room was lovely and spacious with the comfiest bed with incredible pillows. We also had a wonderful view of the sea. Chris was a fantastic host and breakfast wad delicious.

Brilliant hosts, amazing gf breakfast

Great location, the South West Coast Path goes right past the entrance. Nicely styled room and a good sized bed (King). The matress wasn't very comfortable for me, although my (much lighter) companion thought it was fine. The shower was great; hot and a good flow. The bathroom was small and needs redecorating. Breakfast was excellent.
