Reviewed Aug 11, 2026Nice Hostel in Motala. Rooms adjacent to the restaurant and bar , very lively and closing at 9pm. so no noise at noght. It's set along the canal, so the surrounding are very nice. the staff is friendly and very accommodating. Very pleasant stay.
Didn't know it was an hostel, so the bathroom and wc are shared, but they are clean and modern , so it's not an issue.

Saknar bastu. Sängarna var sådär. Att vi fick olika bud på om de hade frukost eller ej (på hemsidan står det att det inte fanns) Vi frågade flera ur personalen fick olika svar men tur att ni hade frukostbricka

Reviewed Aug 5, 2026Trevligt ställe och personalen väldigt tillmötes. Kan varmt rekommendera Mallbodens Café. Goda våfflor och bra koncept. Vi bode även på Vandrathemmet som var väldigt trevlugt och låg väldigt fint vid kanalen Bir man dör sommartid är cykel ett bra tips att ha med sig. Så kan man cykla runt längs kanalen.

Ikke noget af betydning. (3 sovepladser hvoraf de to havde gode madrasser og den tredje var ubehagelig - det betød dog intet da vi kun var to).

Toalett/Badrum ihop med städutrustning kändes inte så fräscht. Annars bra att toan är så nära rummet. Det var tyst på natten, men en arbetsmaskin (stod på parkeringen bredvid vår bil) som drog igång precis utanför fönstret kl 7 var störande. Ena våningssängen av mindre bra kvalitet. Knakade mkt.

Reviewed Jul 5, 2026Mooie locatie en een prachtig appartement. Lekker knus en huiselijk. Cafe voor de deur is ideaal voor lunch en avondeten. In de omgeving voldoende te doen en fietsen huren bij appartement is erg handig.
Appartementen zijn wat gehorig en je deelt de wc. Douche is extern maar wel erg ruim en schoon. Prijs kwaliteit verhouding daarom wat minder. Maar de ervaring wel een die je meegemaakt moet hebben.

Reviewed Jun 23, 2026Das Apartment liegt idyllisch, direkt am Götakanal in einem roten Schwedenhaus. Es war unglaublich gemütlich, bis ins letzte Detail, echte Blumengemälde, alter kleiner Ofen und Ofenecke in der Küche, aber alle technischen Geräte vorhanden. Wenn man die Holztreppe hinunterging, befand man sich im Gartencafe. Man hatte nicht nur den traumhaften Kanal vor der Tür, sondern gleich Gastronomie. Sehr nettes und entgegenkommendes Personal. Flexibel und lösungsfindig .

Köket var öite dåligt utrustat. Det saknades lite prylar men eftersom vi bokat två lägenheter gick vi ihop det ändå. Det blev även varmt i sovrummet nattetid.

Reviewed Jun 13, 2026Mallboden is a wonderful place. The hostess was phenomenal, friendly, and so helpful. The area is full of history; a short walk around the property and near by and one can start to get the feel for the history. There is a small museum on site with a video that explains the history. Our apartment was charming, with lots of character, and well equipped. There is a clean laundry facility on site. The path along the canal and by the homes is so lovely. I would go back anytime and stay at Mallboden again. Because our stay was short, we did not eat in the Cafe, however, the food and baked goods looked fabulous.
There was nothing we did not like.

Reviewed Aug 25, 2025Heel vriendelijk personeel en een erg mooie locatie. De wafels zijn inderdaad heel erg de moeite waard. Ook onze accomodatie was erg netjes en gezellig. Perfect voor een goede nachtrust tijden onze (door)reis van Nederland naar Zweden. Voor indien nodig; er is ook nog een supermarkt op loop afstand.
Eigenlijk is er niets tegen gevallen.

Reviewed Aug 10, 2024The location and view is really nice and the cafe has fantastic waffels. There is a playground behind the hostel. The staff was really fun, helpful and sweet. The showers were really clean. It was great that you had your own kitchen and fridge.
The beds were really not comfortable and it was so hot in the room. You could not keep the window open because of the mosquitos. You have to clean the room but the vacuum cleaner was not so good.

Reviewed Jul 29, 2024Beautiful location and a nice cafe serving the best waffles in Sweden. Clean apartment with access to new washrooms. Close to Motala city centre and to lovely hikes, either along the Göta Kanal or national park.
It was a bit too noisy due to thin walls so If you are sensitive to that bring some earplugs for the night. The mattresses were also not great.

Reviewed Jun 25, 2024We stayed there for one night. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Everything was very clean and tidy, especially the completely new plumbing house. We had a good time at Mallboden.
There is nothing special about the city of motala, just some restaurants and a small harbour. The canal which flows right by the cafe is nice, as well as the Motala beach.
