Vlakbij Taroko NP
The hotel is located on the main road near the entrance to Taroko National Park. We had a spacious room with a view of the river behind the hotel, and the bathroom was also generously sized. Since the park is closed at night and access is currently restricted, there was not much traffic on the main road in front of the hotel. Parking is available in the car park next to the hotel. Breakfast was not included, and probably due to the low number of guests, the hotel does not currently provide it. Overall, the hotel made a very good impression and was a quiet and pleasant place to stay.
I have no critical comments about the hotel itself. The main limitation is the current restrictions on access to Taroko National Park, which means that all viewpoints and hiking trails are inaccessible. This was caused by the earthquake and monsoon damage two years ago. I hope the situation improves and the hotel can welcome more visitors again.
Friendly and helpful, with two comfortable beds (one not so much)
Only one restaurant open nearby on a Saturday night, and that was full... had to drive a long way to find food!
If you're visiting for the Taroko Gorge, you can't beat the location. It's the hotel right before the visitor center. Spacious rooms, very quiet and clean, all basic amenities and helpful staff. They even have parking next door.
First floor kitchen and dining facility are great. Comfortable beds. Friendly staff.
Too difficult to find places to eat near by. Hard to get taxi. Thought it would be more convenient to stay near Taroko entrance but it would have been far more convenient if we stayed at Hualain.
Die Lage direkt am Nationalpark.
Das Bad hatte keine Duschabtrennung.
very close to National Park
Great location, quiet place, comfortable bed, free parking, good contact with the owner
Johnny was great and allowed me to leave my bike bags at the hotel before I rode into Taroko Gorge.
Great location very close to Taroko Gorge. Very clean room and comfortable beds.

Liwu Hotel is a lovely place with a great host who did everything he could (and even more!) to enjoy our stay as much as possible (and even more :-)).
There is nothing I could say. It was just a GREAT experience.
Great location, really kind and friendly owner
Nice clean room. Great info from the host about national park access.
Couldn’t connect to wifi
Alles ok
There was everything we needed: fridge, a kitchen, although the hotel was empty, it was squeaky clean and it felt like home
It says there's breakfast included, but there's actually nothing, you have to bring your own food
Perfect hotel to visit the taroko george. I hope that it survives with the decline in tourism due to the 2023 earthquake. This is the place to stay at.
Could be nicer looking, but it doesnt matter when you have access to such amazing views
For visiting Taroko its a perfect spot. Nice large seating area with views.
Little noisy from houses and small road behind.
Well located at the Taroko Gorges. The owner is very helpful.
We stayed here as a base to cycle up Taroko Gorge. The ride was fabulous. The host let us keep our gear there so we could ride up without much weight. There is a 7-11 nearby, not much else was open.
Excellent location for taroko gorge, which we enjoyed driving through even though the trails are still closed after last year's earthquake. Microwave in dining room area could be used.
No staff on site, only contact via an entry phone, though the person was helpful.
Excellent in every aspect. No other words.
Amazing bed and comforter. Great location. Still encourage other travelers to come and drive through the park on a scooter (rent it at xincheng station) during the road open hours. The temple at Tianxiang is pretty cool and the road is still spectacular on a sunny day ! Also went to the Taroko Cultural and Creative Park across the street. They had a fun DIY activity with the local women.
He told me there was no breakfast upon arrival even though the reservation said there was. But they let me do laundry and that was exactly what I needed.
Comfortable beds. Nice owners great spot
Good location for being quiet, but very few restaurants nearby. Had to drive to Xincheng (not walkable). Friendly and helpful management. Good communication in advance that Taroko Park closed for extended time due to earthquake road and trail damage.
Quiet hours weren't enforced. Supposed to start at 10 PM but a group was quite loud in the public area until 11:30 PM until I finally got up and went to say something to the group.
Staff were very helpful, great location, quiet.
Perhaps speed up the hot water delivery!
Very close to the park. Excellent views of the mountains. Staff very helpful.
Location, Location, Location. If you're going to Taroko National Park, there it is . . right down the street. This was a very large room with two big beds. Lots of room . . . lots of ants. Some ants in the beds — a contrast on the crisp clean white sheets — and tons of ants around the bathroom threshold. (Only one big centipede, though!) Breakfast was a roll, a small salad with some ham strips and sweet potato, and coffee . . . that’s it. We never got to meet the host; the woman who was there most of the time, who handled the breakfast, seemed nice and the location, very close to the park, could not be beat. (There’s a GREAT restaurant about a block away called Truku . . go there!) The ants were a bit disconcerting . . . we would probably look for a different place to stay next time. (The place looked full the day we arrived so changing rooms didn’t seem to be an option.)
Amazing! Don't make the mistake to stay in Hualien you go there to visit Taroko so stay at the entrance of the park. Convenient small shop next to it with drinks and instant noodles. Amazing hiking trails just walking from the hotel. Amazing breakfast with stunning views
All perfect
Large room, walkable into the gorge and easy transport options close by. Nice coffee machine.
Breakfast was just ok, shower took a while to heat up and the area only had 1 restaurant that was open so dinner options very limited!
Simple, clean hotel within walking distance to Taroko Gorge Visitor Center. The property isn't much except a number of bedrooms on each floor with bathrooms (en suite). There is also a spacious lobby / eating area, with filtered water, that guests have access to even after breakfast. That came in handy as we had a simple dinner one evening (bought from the 7-11 down the street). Breakfast was tasty and copious, mainly Taiwanese staples (noodles, bao, fried veggies). Pretty good coffee, though, too. The woman who met us and checked us in was kind, hard-working, but did not speak English. There are two buses that stop almost outside the door of the hotel and that travel the length of Taroko National Park. Convenient. Spectacular mountain view from the lobby area. Screens on the windows and AC in the room. Good hot water.
Hotel is just a multilevel house. There are no amenities. The rooms are very simple and close to each other, which is fine for a night or two, but don't expect much. It can be very noisy, depending on the guests (we were woken up by a loud older guest at 6.00 am shouting in the halls). The dogs and traffic outside are also noisy throughout the night. English is seriously lacking, and the hotel is unprepared for guests who would like info about Taroko or onward travel. Also, there is no evening activity in the "town". But above all, the reason I would not stay here again is because, we were caught in the earthquake in Taroko. This hotel survived without damage, BUT, it is across the road from the bottom of the mountain on the other side of the gorge. The landslides and rock slides were frightening, though they did not seem to impact this hotel at that time. But it's too close for me, having had that experience. I would not rest easy again at this hotel. In general--take the earthquake risk very very seriously in Taroko.
Large rooms and bathrooms. Coffee, tea and water always available. Tasty breakfasts. Washing machine facilities available Good situation for exploring the Taroko Gorge. Easy and plentiful hotel parking
Situated directly at the entrance to Taroko national park. Bus stop right outside the hotel, one stop to visitor center. Neither positive nor negative: be aware of the remote location, not many restaurants and shopping options around, in particular after 6 pm.
Breakfast. Location. Easy access to shuttle bus to Taroko NP.
Mosquitos although the hotel did provide repellent liquid you could plug in of which I am not a fan.
This is an excellent place to stay just a 15 minute walk to Taroko visitor centre and hikes.I loved the great breakfasts,a different one each morning and good coffee.Nice, very quiet rooms with a good view at the back.A few very good places to eat next to it.A 5 minute walk to the 7-11 and a bus stop for the gorge shuttle bus is nearby. There is a bus from the train station to the hotel so its easy to get to. Totally recommended.
Nothing.
We stayed for one week in this beautiful environment of Taroko Gorge National Park. Great to be immersed in peace. The manager and staff were very friendly, approachable and helpful. There's a hotline phone to the main manager, Johnny, at any time. He helped us out and rang people for advice if he didn't know. The hotel is right near the bus stop to Taroko national Park/Hualien routes.. We enjoyed excellent access to the national park, and nearby restaurants. Liwu Hotel has a good quality breakfast and free tea and coffee anytime. We felt comfortable socialising in the common area. Johnny kindly allowed us to use the washing machine, drying area and kitchen. We felt very at home and there was good security. The room was very clean and housekeeping provided on request.
Liwu Hotel felt out -of -the -way and part of Taroko's small community, but the disadvantage might affect capacity for upgrading facilities. The bathroom was difficult to ventilate properly.
The location was very close to the entrance and vistor center of Taroko National Park. There was a bus station half a block away from the hotel.
The bed was very stiff but I didn't mind.
The breakfast buffet tasted good and had a decent selection. The location towards Taroko Gorge is good, if you have your own means of transport (didn't test the bus).
The room I booked (for a higher price than a basic one) was supposed to have: - Mountain view - River view - City view - Sofa - Hot tub - Soundproofing - Entire unit located on ground floor But it had NONE of the above... It nearly feels like they are trying to scam some of their guests by having one room that propably has those views, but marking all of them the same way. I was looking at a wall, that wasn't even one meter away from my window, so there was no sunlight at all and I had to use the lights all day long. Also the soundproofing was mediocre at best - you could still hear the street from a laid back room as well as people from the adjacent room moving around. The cleanliness on the floor and beds was okay, but on other surfaces a fair amount of dust had accumulated. It also smelled slightly moldy. The hotel likely has seen better days and could use a renovation. The reception worked via a phone that's installed in the basement, which is a bit weird, as you can't talk to them directly. For one night it can be okayish, if you know what you get, but for longer stays I'd definitely recommend staying in Hualien and taking the bus to Taroko.
The breakfast was good. Johnny was helpful when we had questions and needed to arrange transportation
It is very close to the tourist center and I could reach it on foot from the train station. The mattress was comfortable for me (hard one).
It was a bit disappointing that I was starting at a concrete wall when I opened the window. On the room pictures was a window with view on the green, so I thought it will be like that. Also, it was quite cold in there. The most annoying thing was that one could hear everything from the other rooms, even if the people were not talking in loud voice. In the description was written that it's a silent room....
The location
Attention Tourist Trap! Far too expensive for the very basic old and moldy Hotel, a renovation is needed! The smell of mold was so intense in our room, so we had to change the room. The manager was so rude and even lied to us. You hear every noise of the other guests. Hard to sleep! Stay somewhere else, the worst accomandation we had in Taiwan.
Convenient location. Clean. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet. Staff were kind and helpful.
perfect location for hikes at Taroko national park; very flexible and helpful staff; not bad breakfast and very good coffee/tea availability
We had a great stay at this hotel that is minutes from the park. There’s plenty of restaurants close by and you get breakfast as well. It was great hanging out on the lovely wooden handmade tables looking at the green mountains. We really enjoyed talking to Erna who works there as she is a very sweet women. It’s also super clean and great sheets and towels.
I don’t think hotels should offer toothbrushes or combs anymore. People should just bring their own or go buy one.
Great
Simple, basic property.
Cold breakfast. Self checkin, no staff available for questions. Only staff didn’t speak Chinese or English
So convenient for Taroko Comfortable beds
The bathrooms need work- shower head was broken, wish there was a shower curtain The lobby is so cute- rooms and hallways could be updated
The location is ideal for visiting Taroko Gorge. There are several food choices within walking distance. Our room at the 5th floor is spacious. Bed is comfortable. Shower pressure is good. The staff are very helpful. Johnny speaks fluent English.
Would have been better if there was a lift. I fractured my foot during the stay and it was fortunate for me that it was only 2 flights of stairs for me.
Great location. The trails in Taroko are just minutes away. Some food stalls and restaurants nearby. Lobby is something of the loveliest I've seen so far. A lot of wood and big windows. Having a cup of coffee outside gives you the right impression. Breakfast is simple but incredibly nice. The room was spacious with a big bath. The staff is very kind and attentive. I felt very welcome.
Booking said I have a room with city view. Well, a wall a meter away from the window counts as a part of the city to be fair.
A good accommodation at the beginning of Taroko gorge way.
Nice location just at the entrance of Taroko National Park.
Everything was OK.
The location. Really close to gorge
Very good location for visiting Taroko gorge. Helpful owner, who spoke good English. Friendly staff. Good coffee machine. Very spacious room for three people. Convenient parking. Shops and restaurants nearby. Just a short walk from the Visitor Centre.
