The Owner is an extremely rude person.Literally called us so many names and has no manners or social etiquette whatsoever.His behavior ruined our whole experience unfortunately.

Clean and tidy. Plenty of tea/coffee. Good selection for breakfast.

The window, when shut, wouldn’t shut fully so the road and fountain were loud enough to need earplugs. No individual hand towels, but that’s a very minor, personal thing.

Reception crowded with item for sale, not professional looking and not open at advertised times. No food available even though restaurant publicised, large group having BBQ and party with staff.

The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was decent too, including English breakfast plus a selection of pastries.

The bathroom really needs renovating. It was clean, but dated and tired-looking. The bigger issue was the walls, which are paper-thin. You can hear everything happening in neighbouring rooms and in the corridor, so it’s far from a quiet stay.

We had a lovely stay. The room was clean a well equipt. The beds were comfy and the overall surroundings were beautiful. We loved the gardens. The breakfast had everything you would expect for a buffet and a great choice of fresh fruit.

The room didn't have any bottles of water which we usually expect. There was tea, coffee and biscuits so bottles of water would have been appreciated.

Our room was clean and comfy. All the staff we encountered were very friendly from cleaners ti management. Nothing felt like it was a bother for them. And breakfast was good!

Some noise from one of the other rooms late at night. There is no food on a Sunday night and nothing else in Winchelsea, but we knew that and had planned to go to Rye.

Convenient location. Bar open when we got in, and a nice platter of cheese with our drinks. Breakfast was standard English fry up.

Noisy fountain in the courtyard, so we had to sleep with the patio door shut. Fairly basic accommodation.

We stayed here a few times over the years. It’s nicely situated between Rye and Hastings and overlooks beautiful countryside to the rear. It’s always been a nice place to stay.

The lad who checked us in told us the hotel is closing down in October. That’s presumably why the place was a little run down and sad looking compared to how it had been in years gone by. The restaurant, which was really great and one of the reasons we booked there, no longer served any hot food in the evenings, though there was a really good cooked buffet breakfast included in the price of our suite. The Kingfisher suite is one of Five ground floor flats, with a bedroom and en-suite shower room and a lounge. There was what was described as a minibar, though it consisted of several glasses and a couple of crystal decanters, one of which contained approximately ten fluid ounces of whisky. There was a fridge, a pod coffee machine and a kettle. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, though it was sad to see the place in decline.

Sehr gefallen hat mir auch der Brunnen im Vorgarten und das angenehme Plätschern des Wassers. Die gesamte Aussenanlage ist sehr liebevoll und gemütlich gestaltet.

Nice comfortable hotel with a good atmosphere. They offer a great breakfast buffet in the morning. The staff was very friendly!

I wasn’t going to leave a review because I didn’t end up staying here to give a fair view of the property. The only reason I am is because of the way management responded when I explained why I’d left. I can now see from other reviews that any criticism is met with a similar response from management so this is clearly where the problem is. I wouldn’t bother complaining about anything as you’ll essentially be called a liar and told you have a problem. For me, I couldn’t stay due noise from a neighbouring room which apparently we imagined. I was told the ‘problem was with ourselves’. It was our choice to leave and as I said, I wouldn’t have left a review as I didn’t stick around long enough to comment on anything else. My review is now solely based on the extremely rude and unprofessional response to an expression of disappointment so I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you’re prepared to accept everything and anything.

There is no handle on the door so it’s difficult to open door from inside to get out from the apartment.

Great selection of items for breakfast and drinks.

No blackout curtains in room and Venetian blind didn’t block out the on-site lights. Outdoor seating was right near the room where some guests sat and talked late in evening. We had to ask them to be quiet after 11pm as trying to sleep.

Good price/value. Nice complete breakfast buffet.

There are many rules shown. While all these rules are fair and for a good reason, it is not helping towards a positive vacation vibe.

The breakfast was amazing! Everything you could wish for and plenty of it… The staff were welcoming and friendly- nothing was too much travel.

The room was very clean, the area was peaceful and quiet, and the air was fresh and clear.

It would be even better if the room had a small fridge, especially for keeping water cold during the summer, and a mop for the bathroom floor after taking a shower.

Breakfast (especially at the weekend) was very tasty with great choice. The location is really nice, the hotel is surrounded by gardens and is a lovely calm location, with places to sit down and relax. The rooms are comfortable and staff are very friendly and helpful. Plenty of parking available.

Location was nice not too far from places. The buffet breakfast was nice, everything topped up quickly when running low. Check in and out was easy process.

Wasn’t the cleaniest. Toilet roll on holder empty, shower had hairs in and tv didn’t work but that was the only downfalls. The hotel was nice, location good, breakfast lovely.

The room was comfortable and the staff were very friendly. It was just a short walk into Winchelsea where we found another lovely pub to have dinner. It was during a heatwave when we stayed here and they provided fans for the rooms to keep us as comfortable as possible.

We really enjoyed our stay. The view from our room was beautiful, and the staff were all so lovely, friendly and helpful. The location was perfect—only around a six-minute drive from Rye—but it still felt peaceful and spacious, like waking up in the countryside. The rooms were comfortable, nicely decorated, clean and well equipped

The bar and restaurant area was very tired looking and neglected. Other than the young man mentioned above, we were not made to feel welcome either on arrival, or in the bar in the evening.

Echt heel goed ontbijt. De kamer was oké met een goede douche. Eigen deur met mogelijkheid om buiten te zitten. Wandelafstand naar Winchelsea.

Internet was matig. Restaurant was handig omdat je niet weg hoeft, maar verder sfeerloos. Eten snackbar niveau.

Nice and cosy countryside hotel. The room was spacious enough, clean and overall good price/performance. The area around the hotel is very well kept, and the fountain with a fish pond definitely adds to the character of the place. The breakfast was good, plenty of choices and good coffee. We stayed here in the middle of the heatwave, so it got a bit hot, so the fan in the room helped. The location is by a busy road, so expect some noise at times.

Windows need adjusting, as even fully closed you could hear the road and other noise.

Stayed there many years ago & remember it fondly as we will also do this time. Lovely spacious room, great variety of breakfast, we had a very nice dinner on our first night, portions enourmous. Very friendly helpful staff. This is a great base. Good free car park (vip for us) Hope we can get another visit before the end of the season. Thank you 😊

The wifi was not good, if you want to work from here, wouldn’t recommend. There was a lot of spider webs around the night stands. Other than thats very clean and nice.

Winchelsea Lodge is well located, the rooms are clean and comfortable and there was an extensive choice for breakfast.

Parking is a bit problematic when the Lodge is full

!!! Slechtste overnachting in onze 11-daagse reis door Zuid-Engeland!!! Verouderde accommodatie algemeen : slechte bedden, wc spoelde bij aankomst niet door, chloorgeur aanwezig, basic badkamer 🙁 Veel geluidsoverlast ‘s nachts door fontein aan vensterraam. Bij aankomst zeer onpersoonlijk onthaal door receptionist. Geen alternatief voor ontbijt om iets mee te krijgen ivm vroege Ferry.

Everything was first class the host and staff couldn’t be more helpful and friendly it certainly made our trip perfect.

Large room with good shower, comfortable bed and all very clean. Winchelsea village a short walk away through the fields behind the Lodge. Nice relaxed feel to the place, good parking and excellent breakfast. We really liked the sound of running water from the fountain and the flower beds.

The apartment was fine and a/c a reason for booking in heatwave. However the TVreception was dodgy. Kept sticking in terrestrial and WiFi. Breakfast food adequate but ambiance poor. A sign saying “this is not an eat as much as you can…..” We paid over £800 for 3 nights!

Room was great and the whole place is very well looked after. Loved the fountain and all the plants and sitting outside for dinner and breakfast was a real treat. Dinner was delicious and a good variety for breakfast.

Shower head wouldn't stay up but this was minor and the pillows were a little uncomfortable but other than that we can't fault it.

Breakfast was excellent plenty of variety, location was easy to reach other places.

Clean, well presented, spacious room. Shower room also clean but needs a little tlc re painting and smartening up fixtures and fittings. Thos does not detract though. The food was fine .... tasty, just not all the way for me to rate as outstanding.
