Room was dirty Bathroom dirty In need of decoration Furniture worn and old some broken furniture Bed very uncomfortable Scaffolding outside window Failed nonfunctional plumbing
Good location. Friendly helpful staff
Stairs to room. Getting luggage upstairs.
Ett trevligt värdshus, pub med trevligt renoverade rum "upstairs". Valde detta pga närheten till Kew Gardens. Nära tågstationen också. Rekommenderar varmt.
Location
Cleanliness, soundproofing, services
The bed is comfortable and the shower is good enough - perfect place for a bed and a shower. Hotel at walking distance from tube station.
Staff are nowhere to be seen at check-in and check-out. Hotel is right under the Heathrow Airport landing path, so a plane every minute from 5:50am and this is none stop - no window sound proof. Curtains hardly shut the windows.
Hotel was in an ideal location for our visit. The hotel was slightly tired, but in keeping of the age of the building. It was very clean and tidy. The restaurant menu at first glance looked limited, however the food we had was very good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We would book this hotel again.
There was nothing that we didn’t like.
Wasn’t get into London, very close to the tube. Lovely bar, friendly staff and good atmosphere. Food excellent, plenty of choice. Would stay again
Close to Kew Gardens and railway links
Under flight path for Heathrow.
Beliggenheten var fantastisk i forhold til Kew garde og bydelen Kew.
Rommet var litt trangt, og det var et par ting som burde vært ordnet. Ei lampe og en krok på badet.
Good location. Nice pub.
Too hot! No air con and window was hard to open.
El personal muy amable, el hotel es pequeño pero realmente acogedor. Volveré
todo me gusto
Location
Tired neglected hotel. Room run down blind broken shelf in shower room broken. Bedside lamp broken and ceiling roseon chandelier loose
Our stay was pleasant
All good
Great room and food
Nothing
Everything, the bed was huge, and there were lots of helpful items in the room, an iron, ironing board, coffee machine, kettle, bottled water, etc.
No oat milk, only one pack of 2 biscuits for two guests
The food was amazing! The staff were wonderful. It was charming and just what we were looking for!
This hotel is excellent as a base to visit Kew gardens. A 10-minute stroll away. Hotel rooms above a bar. The room was compact, but very comfortable and clean. We ate breakfast and 1 evening meal whilst we were there, both were very good, decent wine list too!. Staff were all really helpful . a lovely relaxing stay.
Not a problem or a dislike for me, but if you have limited mobility, it would be beneficial to ask which rooms you are booked into. I was in room 19, top floor, and the top set of stairs are really steep/narrow . As i say, not an issue for me.
The pub downstairs was really nice - good food, lively atmosphere, nice spaces including outdoor patio. The room was clean, beds were comfy, plenty of space & places to set your stuff, quiet. Complimentary bottled water, tea, coffee & cookies. The staff was welcoming, friendly & helpful. Close to Kew gardens.
A secure internet would have been nice.
The staff are great, really friendly and helpful. Good to have two fans in the room especially on the highest floor! Really like the breakfast options.
Friendly staff great location
Room in need of decoration and very hard bed and pillows
Location was ideal, breakfast was very good and the room was very comfortable. As the advert says it's a listed building, hence no lift or air con as it was very hot when we went in August 2026, otherwise beautiful place.
The only let down was our room was on the 3rd floor and with out a lift we were thankful the staff had taken our baggage up to our room as we left it in storage due to been very early. It was going up to the room each time was a pain.
Stairs
Location to Kew Gardens.
Room 16 was 41 steps up. The room was like a sauna even with the basic fans. The food was terrible and to kick it all off they allowed a dog to eat off a breakfast table. The needed an injection of life.
We had a twin room. It was spotlessly clean. Lovely crisp white bedding. The location was lovely. We loved the serene atmosphere of Kew Gardens Village. Train station right on the doorstep for visiting attractions.
I would have loved a Bath robe to be supplied.
The location was perfect for visiting Kew Gardens. Close to the station, a short walk to the Gardens. Friendly staff, room nice. There was a classic bar downstairs that was sadly never very full when we looked in. The locale around had some good shops and cafes. We visited on a very hot day (August 2026) and there was no aircon and the room was up several flights of stairs at the top of the building, no problem to us but would put some people off. With the window open and a fan we slept well.
We didn't have breakfast so can't comment on that. For us the position and facilities were fine and the logistics of our trip worked.
It is a very prime location. We visited Kew Theatre under the star and Natural history museum by staying one night in this hotel. 2 mins to Victorian Gate and 2 mins to the train station. We can have family time in the pub run by the hotel.

Die Lage
Obwohl es über 30° hatte, gab es keine Klimaanlage. Wir wurden vertröstet, aber niemand hat sich um unsere Bitten gekümmert. Auch im Nachhinein hat man sich unseres Themas angenommen.
Loved the atmosphere and the proximity to Kew Gardens
Nice room and great location. Good size bed. Great to have a portable air con. Allowed a slightly early check in 30mins and a slightly late checkout 30mins. Parking was not a problem as we arrived after noon on a Friday.
Incorrect time give for breakfast we were waiting (with 3 others)at 7:30 as we but eventually found out it was 8am. Was hoping to grab something on our rerun from parkrun at 10:20am but had to plead for a cup of coffee although it was already made. Noisy due to next door guests returning at 1:30am.
The location was great as was only a 10 minute walk from Kew Gardens and evening street parking is free but between 10am and 12 pm it is permit only so you will still need to drive and park at Kew. I did know this beforehand as I spoke to the hotel prior to arriving.
Our double room was on the third floor and the stairs could be an effort for an older person. No aircon it's an old building but there were plenty of large fans in the room which kept us cool. The bathroom was a bit of a squeeze so no good for a larger person but the shower was ok and hot enough. A few things around the room could of done with some attention including the pointless Chandelier hanging low above the bed, looked like it was coming away from the ceiling. Breakfast wasn't included but I think for £120 a night it should of been, at least for one guest. Dont get me wrong our stay was good and we enjoyed our couple of days away. And if Kew Gardens is your destination then you could do a lot worse that this hotel. I stay in a lot of hotels for my work and thought £120 was a bit much without a breakfast included. The staff were very helpful though when we had to get an email printed off.
Location convenient
Our room was in the attic. Tiny and stuffy with dated carpet and minuscule shower. Reception on leaving couldn't be bothered to ask how we slept ect. Avoid
The location was perfect for our visit to Kew Gardens and easily accessible from the train station. The staff were so helpful and as our room was ready, able to check in early.
Great location and pub was nice
Extremely hot and very steep stairs Faulty iron that burnt a hole in my dress - no apology or concern from the staff Smoked so much it almost set off fire alarm
The room was very cosy and comfortable with really nice extra touches like bottles of water, coffee making facilities and an iron and ironing board. We also had a book case in our room which was nice touch.
Nothing.
The location was ideal for what we wanted and the bonus - it was on a bus route and the bus stopped outside the hotel.
It seemed a little shabby and is definitely in need of updating. No light over the mirror in the bathroom so shaving was hit and miss. The shower itself was great and loads of hot water but I was unable to regulate the temperature of the water. I ended up getting out covered in soap because it was too hot to get back under! Easy to remedy such a basic thing by leaving notes in the room.
Location was excellent, close to Kew Gardens entrance and Kew tube although we didn't use it. Several close by restaurants, shops, and a cute neighborhood. Beds were comfortable, remodeled bathroom had excellent water pressure. Staff was friendly.
Common areas, reception, up stairs to rooms are lacking maintenance. Chips in woodwork everywhere, (baseboards, window sills, bannisters) and carpets ripped. Water rot outside newly remodeled shower enclosure. Reception couldn't explain how to get to hotel on the tube. This should be a common question to answer and easily listed on their website. No air conditioning, but fan was provided in room and window was open. No screen on window. We paid a premium for this unit.
Very convenient for Kew Gardens and the tube.
So close to Kew Gardens
Nothing needs abit more cleaning tv was dusty
Great location - nice pub. Lovely chandeliers. Easy going staff.
Small cramped room -minuscule bathroom difficult to turn around in.
Nothing!
Everything.....you need to take this hotel off your website if it is still charging £200 per night without breakfast! This has been the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I wouldn't put my bare feet on the carpet. Window blind wouldn't stay up. My husband had to attach a coat hanger to attach it to sash window fastening to keep it open. All the walls had plaster coming off. Bathroom seemed clean. I wouldn't get under the sheets in the bed. I slept in my clothes on top of the bed!
ter ar condicionado
Very friendly and accommodating staff. The hotel is in a great location- really handy for access to London (and Kew Gardens of course).
It’s very hot in the bedrooms and hard to cool them down. We’ve stayed several times and rooms vary quite a bit but I don’t think that’s reflected in the pricing Shame there’s no parking
Looks lovely and it was only a 6 mins walk away from Kew Gardens which we were visiting. It is also within a 3 mins walk to Kew Garden station
The 2 main issues that we found was that it doesn’t have a lift which can be challenging for persons over 65 as the top floor stairs are narrow and steep which again is challenging especially with baggage. The other issue was that it is virtually under the flight path to Heathrow so don’t expect stay in bed for long as the low planes start coming over about 5.30am
Staff welcoming , room was spacious
Room wasn’t very clean, bathroom light didn’t work, bath grubby
Hôtel très sympathique, proche de la gare et proche des jardins de Kew. Petit déjeuner parfait.Personnel avenant.
Lovely place but the rooms/ windows could do with an update
Location was great for Kew and Richmond
It didn’t have enough ventilation or fans so it was unbearably hot to sleep but it is an old property so I can understand the dilemma in a heatwave!
Staff are lovely.
It’s good but just a bit tired. Room at the top and quite a climb ! Also no air con and extremely hot. We got the freely hot weather but it would have been hot anyway
Superb welcome and introduction to the hotel. Old world charm, with modern elements. Excellent customer service, nice friendly staff. Great food, and nice choice of drinks.
nothing was all good
Location
The fact we were at the top of the hotel in 33degree heat only one small fan and we are in our 70,s had numerous amounts of stairs to climb a better room could have been given .as the room booked was not what was advertised .no fridge for to put cold drinks and no towels we had to go out and buy our own as no staff about to ask .we stayed whilst football was on tv and got told all seats reserved !!! We were staying at the hotel and mentioned we would be eating and drink on the football nite got told kitchen was closed but they continued to serve other tables unacceptable .our room was very basic indeed .bath room so small we had to leave door open to use toilet as our legs would not fit space same wen we had shower we had to come into room .
The food was not gastro pub as advertised. It was very disappointing. Our room was very tired and needed updating.
Welcoming staff, great location for our needs, good breakfast
Unfortunately the weather was extremely hot so room was very warm , portable aircon unit and fan provided but unit was noisy. No full length mirror or electric socket by the head height mirror to dry hair etc.. bathroom needs some refreshing and light very dim in bathroom. Mattress was very firm on bed.
The staff were wonderful and extremely helpful with tourists. The breakfasts were exceptional. Thank you so much for your hospitality.
Location, facilities, food, staff and service were all excellent.
No lift.
Ideal gelegen zu der U-Bahnstation und zu Kew Gardens. Freundliches Personal, sauber.
Nichts
Great location. Real cooked breakfast every morning. Everyone was very friendly and helpful
The location was great. The food was good as were the staff
The hotel is very rundown, tired and needing an upgrade. The cold water was always warm/ very warm and also no water came out of the tap at times The room price appears to be based on location rather than quality.
The location was superb for our day out at Kew Gardens and the proximity to the tube was excellent so we could go into town for a nice meal. Overall the facility was very clean a good bar and breakfast was very good.
We wre on third floor so lots of stairs to get to the top and no lift. Room was a little dated but for one night stay was more than suffecient for what we needed.
Nice friendly staff very clean
Poor choice for breakfast no cerial or fruit
The hotel was ideally located for our needs & provided a very useful & comfortable base. We had dinner in the dining room which was very good as was the breakfast. We would have no hesitation in returning or recommending.
Nothing particularly springs to mind.
Dicht bij metrostation en Kew Gardens
great room with a balcony on the first floor, breakfast and dinner were good value and location was three minutes walk from the underground station - Kew Gardens village shopping area is a lively treed setting with great small shops
Weather was very hot and room only had a fan
Location for our trip to Kew Gardens was excellent.
Breakfast wasn’t as good as the year before…difficult to get toast wrong but it was dry/ over-done!
It was very clean. Friendly staff. Quite spacious.
I think a small fridge or air con would be good. But it was one of the hottest days of the year so the water provided was warm.
Location to train station was excellent
The room was on the top floor (56 stairs to climb) and I'm over 65 so it was a struggle to get to the room. Unfortunately, summer heat was a nightmare, hot air rises and the room was like a sauna - using a fan was useless. There was also no option to have a simple breakfast of cereal - not everyone likes a cooked breakfast.
the staff were very good if they did not know the answer they would find someone who did we are glutenfree so chef spoke to use to let us know what he could do that was glutenfree but could not guarantee 100% if celiac was ok for us we'll looked after
the room need updating and we picked the hottest 4 day this year the cleaning staff were good kept fans going and loads of water could do with small fridge in room
The staff are super. Like the name implies easy walking distance to Kew Garden. Lots of great little stores and restaurants in the area. Breakfast at the hotel tasty as well.
Hotel needs a good coat of paint!
Great location, close to train station
Very tired interior, paintwork all chipped and really needs freshened up. We were in an attic room which was small, air con unit didn’t work as the filter didn’t fit and kept falling off! There was a fan available. The bathroom was tiny, shower head was terrible, sprayed water all over the floor, no sink plug, extractor fan didn’t work and strange smell .
Location in Kew Village and near stating. Good pub restaurant
A lot of stairs to top floor. Room slightly dated.
Great location, the balcony on the room was a bonus. Nice bar.
Decor a little tired
Cozy ambiance
Room on 5th floor— at least the staff cheerfully helped last g my suitcase up and down. But I was so not expecting a high room on w no elevator!
Honestly the property was just too bad to find anything positive I’m afraid
We stayed for one night and were genuinely shocked by the condition of our room. For the price charged (£282) the standard was completely unacceptable. The room was tired, worn and in desperate need of refurbishment. The carpets were dirty and heavily worn, there was thick dust along the skirting boards, and much of the furniture was damaged or stained. Several items were broken or missing, including a bedside lamp that did not work, a broken window blind, a TV remote with no back cover, and bedside tables that were in a poor condition, with paint and plaster falling off the walls. Amenities confirmed on our booking, such as bathrobes and a coffee machine were also missing. Cleanliness was a major issue. After walking around the room in white socks, the soles were black. There was visible mould in the bathroom, and the overall condition of the bathroom made us uncomfortable using the shower. We raised our concerns immediately with reception, but were told the hotel was fully booked and no alternative room was available. I requested a call from the manager and was assured someone would contact me. No one ever did. Breakfast was equally disappointing. Contrary to some online reviews, there were no cereals, pastries, fruit or yoghurt available. The only option was a single item from a cooked breakfast menu, accompanied by a jug of pre-made watery coffee and juice left on the bar. It represented very poor value for money. The one positive aspect of our stay was the member of staff serving breakfast, who was polite, friendly and helpful. What is concerning since our stay I have read management responses to bad reviews, and they appear to question guests descriptions of the room and hotel conditions. We showed our photographs to reception, who appeared to accept how bad it was. The current corporate photos online are not a true reflection of what you get.
Breakfast only ok. Location of hotel excellent
Generally shabby
Comfortable bed, good hot water, quiet, good location.
Dirty walls and floor covering, moldy shower enclosure. Food…not great.
The location is great - close to the Underground station and several stores and restaurants. They have a nice bar and restaurant. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. There is a portable air conditioner in the rooms. It is a short walk to the beautiful Kew Gardens.
There is no lift so you have to climb stairs but staff will help with luggage. There is no safe in the room to store your passport or valuables. There is no refrigerator or minibar. The hotel definitely needs some upgrades, especially paint.
My room and bed were really comfortable. The location is great and the staff were pleasant and friendly.
All was fine.
Leider nur die Lage.
Unfreundlich und in keinster Weise hilfsbereit.
Location…near tube and Kew Gardens. Good bathroom albeit smallish . Good food and staff friendly.
Chair in room was small and when trying to relax led to slipping forward on shiny seat. Needs small armchair in room. Check out ok but found out that meal which wasn’t included in price meant misunderstood paying expected to be directly after meal and not upon checkout.
Breakfast good
The room
The location is fine
Very dusty, very poor customer service. We have stayed twice, first time there was no running water and second time we booked the wrong dates by mistake. Manager lost temper and hit a wall in front of us. We were able to pay again to stay the night but the price was almost £100 more expensive, so we had to leave and find somewhere else to stay the night at 9pm. Cleanliness both times was poor.
Lage, Personal, Frühstück, schönes Pub
Fehlen einer Klimaanlage
Friendly staff
Breakfast was very nice as were the evening meals. The room was very comfortable. The location was fantastic for visiting the National Archives, Kew Gardens, and the train station. The location was perfect for restaurants, fashion shops, cafes and extra food and grocery items needed.
The room curtain was broken and needed repairing. The shower water pressure was bad and stopped completely on my last morning.
Great staff, good parking, they were helpful in explaining the permit situation, checked us in early, great attitude. Easy walk to Victoria Gate at Kew - staff were helpful when we said the Elizabeth Gate we needed to get to for the wedding was not on Google Maps! Told us where to get dropped to in an Uber instead which helped.
Single beds (my fault probably for not checking) - but was too drunk after the wedding reception to notice anyway. The blinds didn't pull up or work properly & regarding my noise rating, it is because the hotel is under a flight path with lots of low flying planes.
Breakfast was the only thing that was disappointing. Location was excellent, staff made us feel like family, and it was extremely comfortable.
Traditional pub accommodation conveniently located in a pleasant neighbourhood. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The room did not correspond to the description on the booking site: my room did not have a bath or a desk contrary to what was promised. As others have noted, the decor in the rooms is in need of a refresh - stains on walls, worn carpet, and so forth.
Excellent location if you want to visit Kew Gardens.
The hotel is very dated and there were no elevators. Had to carry our luggage to the 2nd floor.
Nice & handy for getting into Kew Gardens early (two minutes walk). Also very close to the Tube. Good size room, comfortable bed, good size bathroom. I had dinner in the restaurant, and the food was delicious.
There was an air conditioner unit, as it was a very hot night, but it was too noisy to use overnight. The shower sent tiny water sprays in every direction! Bedroom doors open outwards, which is a bit of a security issue.
Близостта до Kew Garden и спирка на метро
Сградата не разполага с асансьор , но персоналът беше достатъчно любезен да ни качи и свали куфарите.
Great location and very helpful and friendly staff.
Unfortunately our bedroom had a broken blind when we arrived so we had difficulty with that during our stay. Also there was a fault with the shower head so we had to use the shower on reduced flow because we didn't want to flood the bathroom.
Bright hotel in in the centre of Kew, would definitely recommend
It was very clean and spacious and in a great location
Staff were great
Not much
The hotel is super close to the tube and train station which made getting to it from the Lake District really easy and then heading on to our next destination easy as well; we specifically stayed there so we could have a day at Kew Gardens without commuting to and from, and it is ideally situated for that. There are lots of great restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner within very close walking distance (try the Italian spot, it's fab!).
For what we paid, the rooms are very dated and the water would come on and off in the sink and shower during use, which made showering a bit tricky!
The location was great close to Tube and Kew Gardens Victoria Gate. Lots of nice cafes in the area. The bar and restaurant area was well managed providing very good service and food at reasonable prices, staff were very friendly and welcoming.
We have travelled the world over many years mainly giving good reviews but without a doubt Room 20 is the worst we have stayed in. It's a top floor room with a steep narrow staircase you need to be fit and mobile to access especially with luggage we are in our mid 70's reading the reviews this as been reported by other guests. The so called bathroom is no bigger than a small downstairs cloakroom with toilet, sink and shower crammed into tiny space very difficult to move around in this area. No water at all on first morning, had to go searching for member of staff eventually told Manager would not be in until 7am ended up washing with two ice buckets filled with warm water and using ground floor toilets. Room tired, needs updating & redecorating with constant overnight traffic noise. This is not a criticism of the staff who from our experience are hard working and doing their best,. We have received no official apology from the Hotel.
This hotel was exactly where we needed it to be for a location for the family to attend a funeral at the local crematorium. Excellent food, staff and overall friendliness. Rooms had everything that was required and beds were comfortable.
Could do with some emulsion in certain parts of the rooms. The stair carpet needs to be renewed.
Every thing was handy staff did their best to help out if requied
Internet connection not the best shower not that easy to control
I love the Victorian era charm of this pub+hotel. It's cozy and comfortable without being over the top or pretentious. Excellent kitchen and bar downstairs! All meals for your day are possible here. Super easy walk to/from the underground station. Great village area! Peaceful easy walk to Kew Gardens and Palace. Without hesitation, recommend this vintage charmer to everyone.
Be aware there's no elevator.
